ਵਡਾ ਵਡਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਗ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
vadaa vadaa har bhaag kar paa-i-aa.
By great good fortune one attains union with God, the greatest of all,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪॥੫੬॥
naanak gurmukh naam divaa-i-aa. ||4||4||56||
whom God bestows the gift of Naam through the Guru, O’ Nanak. |4|4|56|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

Raag Aasaa, Fourth Guru:
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
gun gaavaa gun bolee banee.
I sing God’s virtues and also utter the word of His praises.
ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
gurmukh har gun aakh vakhaanee. ||1||
Following the Guru’s teachings I recite and describe the virtues of God. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥
jap jap naam man bha-i-aa anandaa.
By meditating on Naam again and again, my mind has become blissful.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ ਰਸਿ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sat sat satgur naam dirhaa-i-aa ras gaa-ay gun parmaanandaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One within whom the Guru implants the eternal God’s Name, he lovingly sings praises of God, the source of supreme bliss. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਲੋਗਾ ॥
har gun gaavai har jan logaa.
O’ people, a humble servant of God sings His glorious praises,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਜੋਗਾ ॥੨॥
vadai bhaag paa-ay har nirjogaa. ||2||
and by great good fortune, realizes God who is detached from everything. ||2||
ਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਣ ਵਿਹੂਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਲੁ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
gun vihoon maa-i-aa mal Dhaaree.stained
Those who are without virtues are absorbed in Maya’s filth.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਣ ਜਨਮਿ ਮੁਏ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
vin gun janam mu-ay ahaNkaaree. ||3||
Lacking virtues such arrogant people suffer in the cycles of birth and death. ||3||
ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਰੀਰਿ ਸਰੋਵਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਟਿ ਕੀਏ ॥
sareer sarovar gun pargat kee-ay.
In whose body the Guru has revealed the virtues of God,
ਜਿਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਥਿ ਤਤੁ ਕਢੀਏ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੭॥
naanak gurmukh math tat kadhee-ay. ||4||5||57||
O’ Nanak, by reflecting on God’s virtues over and over again, such a Guru’s follower understands the essence of life. ||4||5||57||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਨਿਚੋੜ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੭॥

Raag Aasaa, Fourth Guru:
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੀ ਨਾਮੋ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
naam sunee naamo man bhaavai.
I always listen to God’s Name and only His Name is pleasing to my mind.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
vadai bhaag gurmukh har paavai. ||1||
By great fortune, one receive the gift of God’s Name by following the Guru’s teachings.||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
naam japahu gurmukh pargaasaa.
O’ my friends, meditate on Naam by following the Guru’s teachings; your mind will be illuminated with divine knowledge.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਅੰਦਰ ਉਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ।
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam binaa mai Dhar nahee kaaee naam raviaa sabh saas giraasaa.॥1॥ rahaa-o.
Without Naam I have no other support. Therefore, I keep meditating on God’s Name with my every breath and morsel of food. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਤੇ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
naamai surat sunee man bhaa-ee.
I have consciously listened the recitation of Naam, and it is pleasing to my mind.
ਮੈਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੋਤ ਸੁਣੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੨॥
jo naam sunaavai so mayraa meet sakhaa-ee. ||2||
One who recites God’s Name to me, that alone is my friend and companion. ||2||
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮਹੀਣ ਗਏ ਮੂੜ ਨੰਗਾ ॥
naamheen ga-ay moorh nangaa.
Bereft of God’s Name, the fools depart from the word empty handed.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੱਥ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਖੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥੩॥
pach pach mu-ay bikh daykh patangaa. ||3||
They waste themselves away in the love of Maya and spiritually die just like a moth dies in the love for flame. ||3||
ਨਾਮ-ਹੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਰਵਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੜਮੱਚ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਆਪੇ ਥਾਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ॥
aapay thaapay thaap uthaapay.
God Himself creates and Himself destroys everything.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੮॥
naanak naam dayvai har aapay. ||4||6||58||
O Nanak, God Himself bestows the gift of Naam. ||4||6||58||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੮॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਲਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥
gurmukh har har vayl vaDhaa-ee.
A Guru’s follower cultivates God’s Name within himself like a vine,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਵੇਲ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਵਡੀ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਫਲ ਲਾਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਕ ਰਸਾਈ ॥੧॥
fal laagay har rasak rasaa-ee. ||1||
which bears the sweet tasting juicy fruit (of spiritual merits). ||1||
ਇਸ ਵੇਲ ਨੂੰ ਰਸ ਦੇਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥
har har naam jap anat tarangaa.
Meditate on God’s Name and enjoy the countless waves of spiritual merits.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਆ-ਜੰਤ-ਰੂਪ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲਹਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ।
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਜਮਕੰਕਰ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jap jap naam gurmat salahe maria kaal jamkankar bhu-i-angaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who meditates on Naam and sings the praises of God through the Guru’s teachings, overcomes the fear of death and gains control of evil desires, as if he has killed the serpent of evil desires. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਨ- ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
har har gur meh bhagat rakhaa-ee.
God has entrusted only the Guru with the task of His devotional worship.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਸਿਖ ਦੇਵੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੨॥
gur tuthaa sikh dayvai mayray bhaa-ee. ||2||
O’ my brothers, when the Guru is pleased He bestows the gift of devotional worship upon his disciples.||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
ha-umai karam kichh biDh nahee jaanai.
One who acts in ego, knows nothing about the way to God’s worship.
ਜੋ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
ਜਿਉ ਕੁੰਚਰੁ ਨਾਇ ਖਾਕੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
ji-o kunchar naa-ay khaak sir chhaanai. ||3||
He acts like an elephant who after bathing, throws dust on his head.||3||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਇਉਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਾਥੀ ਨ੍ਹਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜੇ ਵਡ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਵਡ ਊਚੇ ॥
jay vad bhaag hoveh vad oochay.
If one’s destiny is great and exalted,
ਜੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਣ, ਜੇ ਬੜੇ ਉਚੇ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਣ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਸਚਿ ਸੂਚੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੫੯॥
naanak naam jaapeh sach soochay. ||4||7||59||
then by meditating on Naam, they become immaculate, O’ Nanak. ||4||7||59||
ਤਾਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੭॥੫੯॥

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਭੂਖ ਲਗਾਈ ॥
har har naam kee man bhookh lagaa-ee.
My mind is always longing for God’s Name.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਨਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥
naam suni-ai man tariptai mayray bhaa-ee. ||1||
O’ my brother, by listening to God’s Name my mind remains satiated. ||1||
ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
naam japahu mayray gursikh meetaa.
O’ my Gursikh friends, meditate on Naam.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂਸਿੱਖ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ! ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam japahu naamay sukh paavhu naam rakhahu gurmat man cheetaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Yes, meditate on Naam and enjoy bliss through Naam. Through the Guru’s teachings, keep God’s Name enshrined in your heart and mind. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰੋ, ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਰਸਾ ॥
naamo naam sunee man sarsaa.
By listening Naam, the Name of God, the mind remains delighted.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਗਸਾ ॥੨॥
naam laahaa lai gurmat bigsaa. ||2||
The mind blooms in joy by earning the reward of Naam through the Guru’s teachings. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖੱਟ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧਾ ॥
naam binaa kustee moh anDhaa.
Without Naam, one is a blinded by the love for Maya and suffers like a leper.
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕੋਹੜ ਦੇ ਦਰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਲਕਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਭ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਏ ਦੁਖੁ ਧੰਧਾ ॥੩॥
sabh nihfal karam kee-ay dukh DhanDhaa. ||3||
All his actions are fruitless and lead only to painful entanglements. ||3||
ਉਸਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ ਹੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਪੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
har har har jas japai vadbhaagee.
Very fortunate is the one who always sings the Praises of God.
ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੬੦॥
naanak gurmat naam liv laagee. ||4||8||60||
O’ Nanak, through the Guru’s teachings the mind remains attuned to Naam. ||4||8||60||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲਗਨ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮॥੬੦॥
