One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

Raag Aasaa, three shabads in the Sixth Beat, Fourth Guru:
ਹਥਿ ਕਰਿ ਤੰਤੁ ਵਜਾਵੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਥੋਥਰ ਵਾਜੈ ਬੇਨ ॥
hath kar tant vajaavai jogee thothar vaajai bayn.
Holding a guitar in his hand, a yogi strikes its strings, but the sound coming out of it is hollow (because his mind is not attuned to God’s love).
ਜੋਗੀ (ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ) ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਤਾਰ ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਬੇਅਸਰ ਹੀ ਵੱਜਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਭੇਨ ॥੧॥
gurmat har gun bolhu jogee ih manoo-aa har rang bhayn. ||1||
O’ yogi, follow the Guru’s teachings and sing God’s praises so that this mind of yours may immerse in God’s love. ||1||
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥
ਜੋਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥
jogee har dayh matee updays.
O’ yogi, instruct your mind to meditate on God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ।
ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਹਮ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jug jug har har ayko vartai tis aagai ham aadays. ||1|| rahaa-o.
It is only one God who has been pervading throughout all the ages; I humbly bow down to Him. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮੁਹਰੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਗ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਖੇਲੈ ਖੇਲ ॥
gaavahi raag bhaat baho boleh ih manoo-aa khaylai khayl.
The yogis may be singing and reciting songs in many different musical measures, but their mind is playing tricks.
ਜੋਗੀ ਲੋਕ ਰਾਗ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੋਰ ਭੀ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਅਮੋੜ ਮਨ ਹੋਰ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਹੀ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋਵਹਿ ਕੂਪ ਸਿੰਚਨ ਕਉ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਉਠਿ ਬੈਲ ਗਏ ਚਰਿ ਬੇਲ ॥੨॥
joveh koop sinchan ka-o basuDhaa uth bail ga-ay char bayl. ||2||
Their situation is like that of a farmer who might be working upon his well to irrigate his land, but his own bullocks might go and graze down his crop. ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸਾਨ) ਪੈਲੀ ਸਿੰਜਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਖੂਹ ਜੋਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਬੈਲ (ਹੀ) ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਵੇਲਾਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਮ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਮੈ ਹਰਿਆ ਖੇਤੁ ॥
kaa-i-aa nagar meh karam har bovhu har jaamai hari-aa khayt.
O’ yogi, in the farm of your body, sow the seed of meditation on God, so that a green crop of God’s Name may grow.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਬੀਜੋ; ਤਾਂਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹਰਾ ਖੇਤ ਪੁੰਗਰ ਆਵੇ।
ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਬੈਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੋਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜੇਤੁ ॥੩॥
manoo-aa asthir bail man jovhu har sinchahu gurmat jayt. ||3||
O’ Yogi, hook up your ox-like unstable mind to devotional worship and through the Gurus teachings irrigate your body-field with the water of God’s Name. ||3||
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਆਪਣੇ ਅਚਲ ਮਨ-ਬੈਲ ਨੂੰ ਜੋਵੋ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਲ ਸਿੰਜੋ ॥੩॥
ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਜੋ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਤਿਤੁ ਚੇਲ ॥
jogee jangam sarisat sabh tumree jo dayh matee tit chayl.
O’ God, the Yogis, the wandering saints and the entire universe is Your creation; people act in accordance with the intellect blessed by You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋਗੀ, ਜੰਗਮ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਪੇਲ ॥੪॥੯॥੬੧॥
jan naanak kay parabh antarjaamee har laavhu manoo-aa payl. ||4||9||61||
O’ God, the knower of hearts, please attach our minds to Your loving adoration, prays Nanak. ||4||9||61||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਹੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ॥੪॥੯॥੬੧॥
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Raag Aasaa, Fourth Guru:
ਕਬ ਕੋ ਭਾਲੈ ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਤਾਲਾ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਬਜਾਵੈ ਰਬਾਬੁ ॥
kab ko bhaalai ghunghroo taalaa kab ko bajaavai rabaab.
Why should one look for the ankle bells and cymbals? why should one play the guitar and other musical instruments?
ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ? (ਭਾਵ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਘੁੰਘਰੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ), ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਰਬਾਬ ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਜ ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ?
ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਾਰ ਖਿਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਹਉ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਮਾਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
aavat jaat baar khin laagai ha-o tab lag samaara-o naam. ||1||
Instead of wasting time in searching and bringing these instruments, I would rather meditate on God’s Name . ||1||
ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਿਆਂ (ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਆਦਿਕ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਨਾ ਸਮਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਐਸੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
mayrai man aisee bhagat ban aa-ee.
Such a devotion has developed in my mind,
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਬਣੀ ਪਈ ਹੈ,
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ha-o har bin khin pal reh na saka-o jaisay jal bin meen mar jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that I cannot spiritually survive without remembering God even for an instant, just as a fish dies without water. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਪਲ ਭੀ ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੱਛੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਬ ਕੋਊ ਮੇਲੈ ਪੰਚ ਸਤ ਗਾਇਣ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਰਾਗ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਠਾਵੈ ॥
kab ko-oo maylai panch sat gaa-in kab ko raag Dhun utdaavai.
Why one must tune the five strings and put together the seven tunes? why should one raise the voices in melody?
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਪੰਜ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਸੁਰਾਂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ? ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਗ ਦੀ ਸੁਰ ਚੁੱਕਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ?
ਮੇਲਤ ਚੁਨਤ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਚਸਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
maylat chunat khin pal chasaa laagai tab lag mayraa man raam gun gaavai. ||2||
It takes at least a moment to tune and assemble this musical tools, my mind would rather sing God’s praises in that time.||2||
ਇਹ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਸੁਰਾਂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਰ ਚੁੱਕਦਿਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਤਨਾ ਸਮਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ ॥੨॥
ਕਬ ਕੋ ਨਾਚੈ ਪਾਵ ਪਸਾਰੈ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਹਾਥ ਪਸਾਰੈ ॥
kab ko naachai paav pasaarai kab ko haath pasaarai.
Why should someone put his feet in a proper posture and then dance with various hand gestures and feet positions?
ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਪੈਰ ਖਿਲਾਰਕੇ ਨੱਚਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ? ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਹੱਥ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ?
ਹਾਥ ਪਾਵ ਪਸਾਰਤ ਬਿਲਮੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
haath paav pasaarat bilam til laagai tab lag mayraa man raam samHaarai. ||3||
Stretching out one’s hands and feet, there is a moment’s delay, in that time my mind would rather meditate on God. ||3||
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਿਲਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਥੋੜਾ-ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਨਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ l
ਕਬ ਕੋਊ ਲੋਗਨ ਕਉ ਪਤੀਆਵੈ ਲੋਕਿ ਪਤੀਣੈ ਨਾ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
kab ko-oo logan ka-o patee-aavai lok pateenai naa pat ho-ay.
Why should one try to impress people with dances and songs? even if people are impressed, it does not bring honor in God’s court.
ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ? ਜੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਹੋ ਭੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਦ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਤਾ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੨॥
jan naanak har hirdai sad Dhi-aavahu taa jai jai karay sabh ko-ay. ||4||10||62||
O’ Nanak, always meditate on God in your heart, then everybody would honor and respect you.||4||10||62||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੨॥

Raag Aasaa, Fourth Guru:
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
satsangat milee-ai har saaDhoo mil sangat har gun gaa-ay.
Join the holy congregation of God’s saints and in their company sing the glorious praises of God.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਲਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
gi-aan ratan bali-aa ghat chaanan agi-aan anDhayraa jaa-ay. ||1||
With the light of jewel- like precious spiritual wisdom, the heart is illuminated and the darkness of ignorance is dispelled. ||1||
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥
har jan naachahu har har Dhi-aa-ay.
O’ the devotees of God, let meditation on God’s Name be your dancing.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਨੱਚੋ l
ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਮ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਧੋਵਹ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aisay sant mileh mayray bhaa-ee ham jan kay Dhovah paa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my brother, if I could meet such saints, I would wash their feet (I would humbly serve them). ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਸੰਤ-ਜਨ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਣ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਵਾਂ l
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
har har naam japahu man mayray an-din har liv laa-ay.
O’ my mind, remaining attuned to God, always meditate on God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ l
ਜੋ ਇਛਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
jo ichhahu so-ee fal paavhu fir bhookh na laagai aa-ay. ||2||
You would obtain whatever you wish and longing for Maya would never afflict you again. ||2||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਫਲ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ ਉਹੀ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ, ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗੇਗੀ ॥੨॥
ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ ॥
aapay har aprampar kartaa har aapay bol bulaa-ay.
The Infinite God Himself is the Creator; He Himself causes us to recite and meditate on His Name.
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੋਲਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਈ ਸੰਤ ਭਲੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥
say-ee sant bhalay tuDh bhaaveh jinH kee pat paavahi thaa-ay. ||3||
O’ God, only those saints are good who are pleasing to You and whose honor is approved in Your court. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਸੰਤ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਰਾਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਿਉ ਆਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
naanak aakh na raajai har gun ji-o aakhai ti-o sukh paa-ay.
Nanak does not get satiated by chanting God’s glorious praises; the more he recites them, the more he is at peace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰੱਜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਦੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਵਣਜਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੬੩॥
bhagat bhandaar dee-ay har apunay gun gaahak vanaj lai jaa-ay. ||4||11||63||
God has blessed the treasure of devotional worship to people; but only His true devotee departs from this world with these virtues. ||4||11||63||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਾਹਕ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਰੀਦ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੬੩॥
