ਜੋ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸੇ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਸੰਦੇ ॥
jo maaray tin paarbrahm say kisai na sanday.
Those who are accursed by the Almighty God are not loyal to anyone.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰੱਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੱਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰਨਿ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਧਰਮਿ ਨਿਆਇ ਪਚੰਦੇ ॥
vair karan nirvair naal Dharam ni-aa-ay pachanday.
They who bear enmity towards those who have no enmity are wasted away according to the righteous justice of God.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰਵੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਵੈਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਧਰਮ ਨਿਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੰਤਿ ਸਰਾਪਿਆ ਸੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥
jo jo sant saraapi-aa say fireh bhavanday.
Those who are cursed by the saints wander around in the cycle of birth and death.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਫਿਟਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੇਡੁ ਮੁੰਢਾਹੂ ਕਟਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਡਾਲ ਸੁਕੰਦੇ ॥੩੧॥
payd mundhaahoo kati-aa tis daal sukanday. ||31||
Such a person spiritually withers away like a tree which is cut from the root. |31|
ਜੋ ਰੁੱਖ ਮੁੱਢੋਂ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਏ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਟਾਹਣ ਭੀ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l

Salok, Fifth Guru:
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਭੰਨਣ ਘੜਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥
gur naanak har naam drirh-aa-i-aa bhannan gharhan samrath.
O’ Nanak, the Guru has firmly enshrined in my mind the Name of that God, who has the power to create and destroy anything.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਢਾਹ ਤੇ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਤੂ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਲਥੁ ॥੧॥
parabh sadaa samaaleh mitar too dukh sabaa-i-aa lath. ||1||
O’ my friend, if you also remember that God at all times, then all your suffering would go away. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੇਂ, ਤਾਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਭੀ) ਸਭ ਦੁੱਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਏ l

Salok, Fifth Guru:
ਖੁਧਿਆਵੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਲਾਜ ਕੁਲਾਜ ਕੁਬੋਲੁ ॥
khuDhi-aavant na jaan-ee laaj kulaaj kubol.
Just as a hungry person ony cares for food, but does not care about his honor, dishonor or harsh words and keeps on begging for food,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਦਰ ਜਾਂ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ (ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਰੋਟੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥੨॥
naanak maaNgai naam har kar kirpaa sanjog. ||2||
similarly O’ God, Nanak begs for Your Name; please bestow mercy and bless me with Your union. ||2|
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਨਾਨਕ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ l

Pauree:
ਜੇਵੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦਾ ਤੇਵੇਹੇ ਫਲਤੇ ॥
javayhay karam kamaavdaa tavayhay faltay.
One is rewarded according to the type of deeds one does.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਰਮ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਫਲ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਚਬੇ ਤਤਾ ਲੋਹ ਸਾਰੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਘੈ ਪਲਤੇ ॥
chabay tataa loh saar vich sanghai paltay.
(For example), if someone chews on red-hot iron, his throat will be burned.
ਜੇਕਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਗਰਮ ਫੌਲਾਦੀ ਲੋਹ ਚੱਬੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਘਤਿ ਗਲਾਵਾਂ ਚਾਲਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੂਤਿ ਅਮਲ ਤੇ ॥
ghat galaavaaN chaali-aa tin doot amal tay.
Similarly, because of his evil deeds, putting a halter around the neck of evildoer, the demon of death takes him away.
ਉਹ ਜਮਦੂਤ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਖੋਟੇ) ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਸਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਦਾ ਵਰਤਾਉ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਈ ਆਸ ਨ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਪਰ ਮਲੁ ਹਿਰਤੇ ॥
kaa-ee aas na punnee-aa nit par mal hirtay.
Always collecting the filth of slandering others, none of his desires is fulfilled.
ਸਦਾ ਪਰਾਈ ਮੈਲ ਚੁਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਦੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਾਏ ਪਾਪ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਆਸ ਭੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ
ਕੀਆ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਫਿਰਤੇ ॥
kee-aa na jaanai aakirat-ghan vich jonee firtay.
The ungrateful wretch does not appreciate God for granting him the human-life, and keeps wandering in the cycles of birth and death.
ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਉਹ ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਸਭੇ ਧਿਰਾਂ ਨਿਖੁਟੀਅਸੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਈਅਸੁ ਧਰ ਤੇ ॥
sabhay DhiraaN nikhutee-as hir la-ee-as Dhar tay.
When he loses all his support, then God takes him away from this world.
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਤਾਣ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ (ਫਲ ਭੋਗਣ ਲਈ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਚੁੱਕ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਝਣ ਕਲਹ ਨ ਦੇਵਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਲਇਆ ਕਰਤੇ ॥
vijhan kalah na dayvdaa taaN la-i-aa kartay.
When he does not let the strife end, then the Creator takes him out.
ਜਦੋਂ ਚਾਰੇ ਬੰਨੇ ਝਗੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਅੱਤ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਤਾਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਠਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਰਤੇ ਅਹੰਮੇਉ ਝੜਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਪੜਤੇ ॥੩੨॥
jo jo kartay ahamay-o jharh Dhartee parh-tay. ||32||
Those who indulge in egotism, crumble and fall to the ground.||32||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਢਹਿ ਕੇ ਭੋਇਂ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ l

Salok, Third Guru:
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
gurmukh gi-aan bibayk buDh ho-ay.
A Guru’s follower is blessed with spiritual wisdom and a discerning intellect.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲਿ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਾਰੁ ਪਰੋਇ ॥
har gun gaavai hirdai haar paro-ay.
He sings the Praises of God, and enshrines His virtues in his heart.
ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਵਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਪਰਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥
pavit paavan param beechaaree.
His conduct is the purest of the pure, and he is the most thoughtful person.
ਆਚਰਨ ਦਾ ਬੜਾ ਸੁੱਧ ਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਮਤਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।.
ਜਿ ਓਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥
je os milai tis paar utaaree.
Whoever associates with him, he helps that person to cross over the worldly-ocean of vices.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
antar har naam baasnaa samaanee.
The fragrance of God’s Name permeates deep within his heart.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ (ਰੂਪੀ) ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਹਾ ਉਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
har dar sobhaa mahaa utam banee.
He is honored in the Court of God, and his words are the most sublime.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਬੜੀ ਉੱਤਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਜਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
je purakh sunai so ho-ay nihaal.
Whoever listens to his words is exceedingly delighted.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਉਸ ਬੋਲੀ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ॥੧॥
naanak satgur mili-ai paa-i-aa naam Dhan maal. ||1||
O’ Nanak, meeting the true Guru, he has received the treasure of God’s Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ (ਰੂਪ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ l

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ਕਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
satgur kay jee-a kee saar na jaapai ke poorai satgur bhaavai.
No one can know the secret of the true Guru’s heart, or what the perfect true Guru likes.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੋ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਖੁਸੀ ਆਵੈ ॥
gursikhaaN andar satguroo vartai jo sikhaaN no lochai so gur khusee aavai.
The true Guru dwells in the hearts of his disciples. Therefore, he who yearns to serve them earns the pleasure of the Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ) ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਦੇ (ਹਲਕੇ) ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਖੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਨਿ ਸੁ ਜਪੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਸਚਾ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
satgur aakhai so kaar kamaavan so jap kamaaveh gursikhaaN kee ghaal sachaa thaa-ay paavai.
The eternal God approves the efforts of the Guru’s disciples, because they follow the Guru’s teachings and lovingly meditate on Naam.
ਜੋ ਆਗਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਕੰਮ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੋ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਕੰਮੁ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਲੋੜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
vin satgur kay hukmai je gursikhaaN paashu kamm karaa-i-aa lorhay tis gursikh fir nayrh na aavai.
If anyone makes the Guru’s disciples do some chore which are against the Guru’s teachings, then no disciple of the Guru comes near that person.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਆਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ,
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਗੈ ਕੋ ਜੀਉ ਲਾਇ ਘਾਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
gur satgur agai ko jee-o laa-ay ghaalai tis agai gursikh kaar kamaavai.
One who diligently serves and follows the true Guru’s teachings, the Guru’s disciple does what that person asks him to do.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ) ਘਾਲੇ, ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿ ਠਗੀ ਆਵੈ ਠਗੀ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
je thagee aavai thagee uth jaa-ay tis nayrhai gursikh mool na aavai.
The Guru’s disciple does not come near a person who has deceit in his mind.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਕਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
barahm beechaar naanak aakh sunaavai.
Nanak proclaims and announces this divine thought;
ਨਾਨਕ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ,
ਜਿ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਕੰਮੁ ਕਰਾਏ ਸੋ ਜੰਤੁ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
je vin satgur kay man mannay kamm karaa-ay so jant mahaa dukh paavai. ||2||
that the person who accomplishes any tasks through his disciples which are not pleasing to the true Guru’s mind, suffers in great misery.||2||
ਗੁਰ-ਅਸ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਠੱਗੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਾਏ ਭਾਵ, ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਏ, ਉਹ ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਤਿ ਵਡਾ ਤੁਹਿ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਵਡੇ ॥
tooN sachaa saahib at vadaa tuhi jayvad tooN vad vaday.
O’ God, You are the true Master, and the most supreme. O’ highest of the High, only You are as great as You.
ਹੇ ਵੱਡਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ! ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਤੇ ਬੜਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਸੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਛਡੇ ॥
jis tooN mayleh so tuDh milai tooN aapay bakhas laihi laykhaa chhaday.
He alone is united with You, whom You unite, and whom You release from the account of his deeds by forgiving him.
ਓਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਮੇਲਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਮਨੁ ਗਡ ਗਡੇ ॥
jis no tooN aap milaa-idaa so satgur sayvay man gad gaday.
Whom You unite with the true Guru, follow Guru’s teachings wholeheartedly.
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਗੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਸਭੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਚੰਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਡੇ ॥
tooN sachaa saahib sach too sabh jee-o pind chamm tayraa haday.
O’ God, You are the true and eternal Master; each and every part of the human body is a gift bestowed by You.
ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ-ਜਿੰਦ, ਸਰੀਰ, ਚੰਮ, ਹੱਡ-ਤੇਰਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂੰ ਸਚਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡ ਵਡੇ ॥੩੩॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥
ji-o bhaavai ti-o rakh tooN sachi-aa naanak man aas tayree vad vaday. ||33||1|| suDh.
O’ true Master-God, save us, as it pleases You. O’ the greatest of the great, You are the only hope in the mind of Nanak. ||33||1||
