ਹਰਿ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੰਚਾ ਨੋ ਉਘਾ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਆ ॥
har andarlaa paap panchaa no ughaa kar vaykhaali-aa.
God has exposed the ascetic’s secret sin to the village elders.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਤਪੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ (ਲੁਕਵਾਂ) ਪਾਪ ਪੰਚਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਜਮਕੰਕਰਾ ਨੋ ਆਖਿ ਛਡਿਆ ਏਸੁ ਤਪੇ ਨੋ ਤਿਥੈ ਖੜਿ ਪਾਇਹੁ ਜਿਥੈ ਮਹਾ ਮਹਾਂ ਹਤਿਆਰਿਆ ॥
Dharam raa-ay jamkankraa no aakh chhadi-aa ays tapay no tithai kharh paa-ihu jithai mahaa mahaaN hati-aari-aa.
The Righteous Judge has ordered the Messenger of Death to take him and put him with the worst of the worst murderers.
ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਿਥੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਪਾਪੀ (ਪਾਈਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਫਿਰਿ ਏਸੁ ਤਪੇ ਦੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਕੋਈ ਲਗਹੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਏਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਹੈ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
fir ays tapay dai muhi ko-ee lagahu naahee ayhu satgur hai fitkaari-aa.
Even there no one is to talk to this ascetic, for he is cursed by the true Guru.
ਫੇਰ ਓੁਥੇ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਤਪੇ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਲੱਗਿਓ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਤਪਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਸੁ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥
har kai dar varti-aa so naanak aakh sunaa-i-aa.
Nanak speaks and reveals what has taken place in God’s presence.
ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੁ ਦਯਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
so boojhai jo da-yi savaari-aa. ||1||
That person alone understands it, whom God has adorned with this intellect. ||1||
ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

Fourth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
har bhagtaaN har aaraaDhi-aa har kee vadi-aa-ee.
God’s devotees lovingly remember God with devotion, and sing His praises.
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਭਗਤ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਂਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
keertan bhagat nit gaaNvday har naam sukh-daa-ee.
God’s devotees continually sing the hymns of His praises, God’s Name is the bestower of peace.
ਭਗਤ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੈ l
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੋ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਖਸੀਅਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਈ ॥
har bhagtaaN no nit naavai dee vadi-aa-ee bakhsee-an nit charhai savaa-ee.
God always bestows upon His devotees the glory of Naam, which multiplies day by day.
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ, ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਜੁਰਗੀ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਦਿਨ-ਬ-ਦਿਨ ਵਧਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੋ ਥਿਰੁ ਘਰੀ ਬਹਾਲਿਅਨੁ ਅਪਣੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
har bhagtaaN no thir gharee bahaali-an apnee paij rakhaa-ee.
God has saved the honor of His own tradition by providing to His devotees the stability of mind against wandering after worldly riches.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਰਦ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਡੋਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਡੋਲਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ)।
ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗਸੀ ਬਹੁ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਈ ॥
nindkaaN paashu har laykhaa mangsee baho day-ay sajaa-ee.
God asks the slanderers for their accounts, and punishes them severely.
ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇਹਾ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਅਪਣੈ ਜੀਇ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਤੇਹੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
jayhaa nindak apnai jee-ay kamaavday tayho fal paa-ee.
As the slanderers think of acting in their minds, so is the punishment they attain.
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਮਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕਮਾਣਾ ਸਰਪਰ ਉਘੜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ਬਹਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
andar kamaanaa sarpar ugh-rhai bhaavai ko-ee bahi Dhartee vich kamaa-ee.
Anything done behind closed doors and conspiracy hatched even underground, gets exposed for sure.
ਅੰਦਰ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੰਮ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ (ਲੁਕ ਕੇ) ਕਰੇ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
jan naanak daykh vigsi-aa har kee vadi-aa-ee. ||2||
Nanak is delighted beholding the glory of God. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Pauree, Fifth Guru:
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਪਾਪੀ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
bhagat janaaN kaa raakhaa har aap hai ki-aa paapee karee-ai.
God Himself is the protector of His devotees; what harm can a sinner do to them?
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਪ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ, ਪਾਪ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਮੂੜ ਗੁਮਾਨੀਆ ਵਿਸੁ ਖਾਧੀ ਮਰੀਐ ॥
gumaan karahi moorh gumaanee-aa vis khaaDhee maree-ai.
The egotistical fools indulge in arrogance and get consumed in its poison.
ਮੂਰਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ (ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਰੂਪੀ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾਧਿਆਂ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਇ ਲਗੇ ਨੀ ਦਿਹ ਥੋੜੜੇ ਜਿਉ ਪਕਾ ਖੇਤੁ ਲੁਣੀਐ ॥
aa-ay lagay nee dih thorh-rhay ji-o pakaa khayt lunee-ai.
Just as the ripe crop must be harvested soon, similarly their days are numbered, and they must die soon,
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦੇ) ਥੋਹੜੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੱਕਾ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਕੱਟੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਤੇਵੇਹੋ ਭਣੀਐ ॥
jayhay karam kamaavday tayvayho bhanee-ai.
and as are their deeds, so are they known.
ਉਹ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ (ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੈ ਸਭਨਾ ਦਾ ਧਣੀਐ ॥੩੦॥
jan naanak kaa khasam vadaa hai sabhnaa daa Dhanee-ai. ||30||
Great is the Master of Nanak, Who is the Master of all.||30|
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ l

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਲਹੁ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
manmukh moolhu bhuli-aa vich lab lobh ahaNkaar.
The self-willed persons have gone astray from their very root (Almighty God), because of their greed and ego.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਲ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੱਬ, ਲੋਭ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਝਗੜਾ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਦਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
jhagrhaa kardi-aa an-din gudrai sabad na karahi veechaar.
Their every day passes in strife, and they do not reflect on the Guru’s word.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਲੱਬ ਲੋਭ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਝਗੜਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ।
ਸੁਧਿ ਮਤਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਹਿਰਿ ਲਈ ਬੋਲਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
suDh mat kartai sabh hir la-ee bolan sabh vikaar.
The Creator has taken away all their understanding and intellect, and now whatever they say is all evil.
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੋਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਕਲ ਖੋਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਨਿਰਾ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ (ਨਿਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਦਿਤੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਅਹਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਰੁ ॥
ditai kitai na santokhee-ah antar tisnaa baho agi-aan anDh-yaar.
They are never contented on receiving anything, because within them is the desire for Maya (worldly riches) and immense darkness of ignorance.
ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਦਾਤ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ) ਤੇ ਰੱਜਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੜੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨਾਲੋ ਤੁਟੀ ਭਲੀ ਜਿਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥
naanak manmukhaa naalo tutee bhalee jin maa-i-aa moh pi-aar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, it is better to break away from the self-willed persons, who are attached to and are in love with Maya. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ) ਮਨਮੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਟੁੱਟਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ

Fourth Guru:
ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
jinaa andar doojaa bhaa-o hai tinHaa gurmukh pareet na ho-ay.
Those who are filled with the love of duality, do not love the Guru’s follower.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਦੀ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ।
ਓਹੁ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ਭਵਾਈਐ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
ohu aavai jaa-ay bhavaa-ee-ai supnai sukh na ko-ay.
They do not find peace even in dreams, and keep going through a cycle of birth and death.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਉਂਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਉਚਰੈ ਕੂੜਿ ਲਗਿਆ ਕੂੜੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
koorh kamaavai koorh uchrai koorh lagi-aa koorh ho-ay.
Such persons practice falsehood, utter falsehood, and being attached to falsehood, become false.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ ਕੂੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜ਼ਬਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਕੂੜ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਕੂੜ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਰੋਇ ॥
maa-i-aa moh sabh dukh hai dukh binsai dukh ro-ay.
The love of Maya is all a source of suffering, therefore they keep wailing about the suffering and perish in the misery.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਰੋਣਾ ਹੀ ਰੋਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਧਾਤੁ ਲਿਵੈ ਜੋੜੁ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜੇ ਲੋਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
naanak Dhaat livai jorh na aavee jay lochai sabh ko-ay.
O’ Nanak, even if everyone wishes, there cannot be union between Maya and love for God.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਾਵੇਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰੇ ਪਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਫਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ l
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਪਇਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
jin ka-o potai punn pa-i-aa tinaa gur sabdee sukh ho-ay. ||2||
Those, in the treasure of whose heart is the virtue of past good deeds, receive true peace by following the Guru’s word. ||2||
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਭਲੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ-ਰੂਪ ਪੱਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੁੰਨ ਉੱਕਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ l

Pauree, Fifth Guru:
ਨਾਨਕ ਵੀਚਾਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨਾਂ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਕਹੰਦੇ ॥
naanak vichaareh sant mun janaaN chaar vayd kahanday.
O’ Nanak, the saints and the silent sages think and the four Vedas proclaim,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ ਤੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਜਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ (ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕ) ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਭਗਤ ਮੁਖੈ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੇ ਵਚਨ ਹੋਵੰਦੇ ॥
bhagat mukhai tay bolday say vachan hovanday.
that whatever God’s devotees utter, comes to pass.
ਕਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਜੋ ਬਚਨ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਰਗਟ ਪਾਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਣੰਦੇ ॥

The devotees become known in the entire world and all people hear of their glory.
(ਭਗਤ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਪਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ) ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਨਰ ਸੰਤ ਨਾਲਿ ਖਹੰਦੇ ॥
sukh na paa-in mugaDh nar sant naal khahanday.
The foolish people, who fight with the saints, find no peace.
ਜੋ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਜੇਹੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੇ।
ਓਇ ਲੋਚਨਿ ਓਨਾ ਗੁਣਾ ਨੋ ਓਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਸੜੰਦੇ ॥
o-ay lochan onaa gunaa no o-ay ahaNkaar sarhanday.
The slanderers suffer in their ego but crave for the virtues of the devotees.
ਉਹ ਦੋਖੀ ਸੜਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਓਇ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਾਂ ਭਾਗ ਧੁਰਿ ਮੰਦੇ ॥
o-ay vaychaaray ki-aa karahi jaaN bhaag Dhur manday.
What can these wretched slanderers do? Their evil destiny is preordained.
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਖੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ? ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ (ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੰਦੇ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਹੀ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ।
