ਤਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਢੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
tis agai pichhai dho-ee naahee gursikhee man veechaari-aa.
The Guru’s disciples have realized in their minds that such a person gets no refuge here or hereafter.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ-ਸਭ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo no milay say-ee jan ubray jin hirdai naam samaari-aa.
Those people who meet the true Guru, are saved from the world ocean of vices because they enshrine Naam in their heart.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪੁਤਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਅਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
jan naanak kay gursikh puthahu har japi-ahu har nistaari-aa. ||2||
Therefore, O’ the Gursikh sons of devotee Nanak, remember God, because only God protects from the worldly bonds. ||2||
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਪੁੱਤਰੋ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ

Third Guru:
ਹਉਮੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
ha-umai jagat bhulaa-i-aa durmat bikhi-aa bikaar.
Egotism has led the world astray, misguided by evil intellect and worldly riches, it commits evil deeds.
ਹਉਮੈ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਨਦਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਿਆਰ ॥
satgur milai ta nadar ho-ay manmukh anDh anDhi-aar.
Without the Guru’s teachings the self-conceited persons remain in the darkness of ignorance, but if one meets the Guru, then he is blessed by God’s grace.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਦਾਰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਾਏ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੩॥
naanak aapay mayl la-ay jis no sabad laa-ay pi-aar. ||3||
O’ Nanak, God unites the one with Himself whom, He imbues with the love of the Guru’s word. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰੀ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Pauree:
ਸਚੁ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰੁ ਭਿਜੈ ॥
sach sachay kee sifat salaah hai so karay jis andar bhijai.
Everlasting is the praise of true God, but only that person utters this praise, whose heart is imbued with divine love.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ; ਇਹ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਜਿਨੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਕੰਧੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਛਿਜੈ ॥
jinee ik man ik araaDhi-aa tin kaa kanDh na kabhoo chhijai.
Those who worship God with single-minded devotion, their body is never weakened by the vices.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਏਕਾਗਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖਚਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਿਜੈ ॥
Dhan Dhan purakh saabaas hai jin sach rasnaa amrit pijai.
Blessed and worthy of praise are those who partake in the nectar of Naam.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧੰਨ ਹਨ, ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਸੇ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਿਜੈ ॥
sach sachaa jin man bhaavdaa say man sachee dargeh lijai.
Those who love God from the core of their hearts are honored in His presence.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਸਚਮੁਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਚਿਆਰੀਆ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿਜੈ ॥੨੦॥
Dhan Dhan janam sachi-aaree-aa mukh ujal sach karijai. ||20||
Blessed and praiseworthy is the human life of those true ones, because they are honored in God’s presence. ||20||
ਸਚਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਸਫਲਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਸੁਰਖ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ॥

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਸਾਕਤ ਜਾਇ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਮਨਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਕੂੜਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ ॥
saakat jaa-ay niveh gur aagai man khotay koorh koorhi-aaray.
Even if the faithless cynics go and bow before the Guru, still their minds remain corrupt and filled with utter falsehood.
ਜੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾ ਭੀ ਨਿਊਣ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਮਨੋਂ ਖੋਟੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨਤੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੂੜ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਉਠਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਬਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਘੁਸਰਿ ਬਗੁਲਾਰੇ ॥
jaa gur kahai uthahu mayray bhaa-ee bahi jaahi ghusar bagulaaray.
When the Guru asks his disciples to be alert, then these faithless cynics mingle with the disciples like cranes in the crowd.
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-‘ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ, ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋਵੋ!’ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਕਤ ਭੀ ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਬਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਚੁਣਿ ਕਢੇ ਲਧੋਵਾਰੇ ॥
gursikhaa andar satgur vartai chun kadhay laDhovaaray.
The true Guru dwells within his disciples, therefore the Guru’s disciples easily pick out and expel these faithless cynics.
ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਭੀ ਸਾਕਤ ਲਾਧ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਕੱਢੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਓਇ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਬਹਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਛਪਾਇਨਿ ਨ ਰਲਨੀ ਖੋਟੇਆਰੇ ॥
o-ay agai pichhai bahi muhu chhapaa-in na ralnee khotay-aaray.
These faithless cynics hide themselves by sitting here and there, but still they are not able to blend in with the true disciples.
ਉਹ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਿਛਾਂਹ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤਾਂ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਲੁਕਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਕੂੜ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਓਨਾ ਦਾ ਭਖੁ ਸੁ ਓਥੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ਕੂੜੁ ਲਹਨਿ ਭੇਡਾਰੇ ॥
onaa daa bhakh so othai naahee jaa-ay koorh lahan bhaydaaray.
The food (worldly wealth and power) for the faithless cynics is not there; therefore, like sheep they go elsewhere to look for their kind of (false) food.
ਸਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਓਥੇ (ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਭੇਡਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ (ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ) ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੂੜ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੇ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਨਰੁ ਖਾਵਾਈਐ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਕਢੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਉਗਲਾਰੇ ॥
jay saakat nar khaavaa-ee-ai lochee-ai bikh kadhai mukh uglaaray.
Even if we wish and try to feed them real food (engage them in chanting Naam), they still spit out poison like ill words.
ਜੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ) ਚੰਗਾ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਖਵਾਣ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਭੀ ਕਰੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ (ਨਿੰਦਾ-ਰੂਪ) ਵਿਹੁ ਹੀ ਉਗਲ ਕੇ ਕੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੇਤੀ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਓਇ ਮਾਰੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੇ ॥
har saakat saytee sang na karee-ahu o-ay maaray sirjanhaaray.
O’ dear saints, do not keep company with faithless cynics, because the Creator Himself has cursed them.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋਂ! ਰੱਬ ਤੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਨਾ ਕਰਿਓ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
jis kaa ih khayl so-ee kar vaykhai jan naanak naam samaaray. ||1||
O’ Nanak, lovingly remember the Name of God, since this world is His play; He creates it and watches over it. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਖੇਲ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਇਸ ਖੇਲ ਨੂੰ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਭਾਲ l

Fourth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
satgur purakh agamm hai jis andar har ur Dhaari-aa.
The true Guru, the Primal Being, is unfathomable, and he has enshrined God’s Name within his heart.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਅਗੰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੋ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਲਿ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo no aparh ko-ay na sak-ee jis val sirjanhaari-aa.
No one can equal the true Guru, because the Creator Himself is on His side.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਲ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਖੜਗੁ ਸੰਜੋਉ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo kaa kharhag sanjo-o har bhagat hai jit kaal kantak maar vidaari-aa.
Devotional worship of God is the sword and armor of the true Guru, with which He has overcome even the dread of death.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਖੜਗ ਤੇ ਸੰਜੋਅ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਾਲ-ਰੂਪ ਕੰਡੇ ਨੂੰ (ਭਾਵ, ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਪਰੇ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਉਬਾਰਿਆ ॥
satguroo kaa rakhanhaaraa har aap hai satguroo kai pichhai har sabh ubaari-aa.
God Himself is the protector of the true Guru, and God saves all those who follow in the footsteps of the true Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਨਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਮੰਦਾ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰੈ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
jo mandaa chitvai pooray satguroo kaa so aap upaavanhaarai maari-aa.
The Creator Himself destroys the one who wishes ill of the perfect true Guru.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਹ ਗਲ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਗਮੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
ayh gal hovai har dargeh sachay kee jan naanak agam veechaari-aa. ||2||
Nanak has reflected on this mystery and concluded that this is what happens in the presence of the true God. ||2||
ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਨਿਆਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਪੜਦੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Pauree:
ਸਚੁ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਜਾ ਉਠੇ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਚਵੇ ॥
sach suti-aa jinee araaDhi-aa jaa uthay taa sach chavay.
Those who remember the eternal God even when they are asleep, and utter His Name when they are awake,
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਭੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਰਵੇ ॥
say virlay jug meh jaanee-ahi jo gurmukh sach ravay.
rare are such persons in this world, who lovingly remember the eternal God by following the Guru’s teachings.
ਬਹੁਤ ਥੋੜੇ ਜੀਵ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਵੇ ॥
ha-o balihaaree tin ka-o je an-din sach lavay.
I dedicate myself to those who always chant God’s Name.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਰੋਜ਼ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਚਾ ਭਾਵਦਾ ਸੇ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਵੇ ॥
jin man tan sachaa bhaavdaa say sachee dargeh gavay.
Those, in whose mind and body God is pleasing, reach in the presence of God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਵੇ ॥੨੧॥
jan naanak bolai sach naam sach sachaa sadaa navay. ||21||
Nanak utters the Name of God, who is eternal and is always seen in new form. ll21ll
ਨਾਨਕ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਨਵਾਂ ਨਰੋਆ ਹੈ।

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਕਿਆ ਸਵਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
ki-aa savnaa ki-aa jaagnaa gurmukh tay parvaan.
Whether asleep or awake, the Guru’s followers are approved in both states.
ਸੌਣਾ ਕੀਹ ਤੇ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਕੀਹ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਬੂਲ ਹਨ l
