ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਰਸੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਚਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਈ ॥
sach sachaa ras jinee chakhi-aa say taripat rahay aaghaa-ee.
Those who have tasted the essence of the eternal God’s Name, remain satiated from the worldly desires.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਗੂੰਗੈ ਮਿਠਿਆਈ ਖਾਈ ॥
ih har ras say-ee jaanday ji-o gooNgai mithi-aa-ee khaa-ee.
Only such persons know this taste of the elixir of God’s Name, but cannot describe it, like the mute cannot describe the taste of the sweet candy.
ਇਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਮਿਠਿਆਈ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥੧੮॥
gur poorai har parabh sayvi-aa man vajee vaaDhaa-ee. ||18||
Those, who have remembered Naam with devotion through the teachings of the perfect Guru, remain in high spirits with delighted mind. ||18||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਖਿੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਮਰਥਲ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਸੂਲੀਆ ॥
jinaa andar umarthal say-ee jaanan soolee-aa.
As only those who have a chronic ulcer within, know the sharpness of its pain,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਗੱਦਹੁਧਾਣਾ ਫੋੜਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੋਲੀਆ ॥
har jaaneh say-ee birahu ha-o tin vitahu sad ghum gholee-aa.
similarly only the true devotees of God understand the pain of separation from their beloved God, and I dedicate myself to them forever.
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਸੱਲ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਤਲ ਰੋਲੀਆ ॥
har maylhu sajan purakh mayraa sir tin vitahu tal rolee-aa.
O’ God, unite me with such God loving person so that I may serve him with utmost humility.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਹੀ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਰਦ ਮਿਲਾ, ਅਜੇਹੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ (ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ) ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਰੁਲੇ।
ਜੋ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਹਉ ਗੁਲਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਗੋਲੀਆ ॥
jo sikh gur kaar kamaaveh ha-o gulam tinaa kaa golee-aa.
I am a humble servant of those disciples of the Guru who follow his teachings.
ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਭਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚੋਲੀਆ ॥
har rang chaloolai jo ratay tin bhinee har rang cholee-aa.
Those whose minds are imbued with God’s love, their bodies are also imbued with the love for God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੋਲੇ (ਭੀ, ਭਾਵ, ਸਰੀਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਵੇਚਿਆ ਮੋਲੀਆ ॥੧॥
kar kirpaa naanak mayl gur peh sir vaychi-aa molee-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, bestowing mercy, God has united them with the Guru and they have unconditionally surrendered themselves to the Guru. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

Fourth Guru:
ਅਉਗਣੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
a-uganee bhari-aa sareer hai ki-o santahu nirmal ho-ay.
O’ saints, this body is full of vices; how can it be purified?
(ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ) ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! (ਇਹ) ਸਰੀਰ ਅਉਗਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਵੇਹਾਝੀਅਹਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਢੈ ਧੋਇ ॥
gurmukh gun vayhaajhee-ah mal ha-umai kadhai Dho-ay.
By following Guru’s teachings, virtues are enshrined in the mind, and in this way one can wash out the dirt of egotism from within.
(ਉੱਤਰ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਖ਼ਰੀਦੇ ਜਾਣ, ਤਾਂ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ-ਰੂਪ ਮੈਲ ਕੋਈ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਕੱਢ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਹਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
sach vanaNjahi rang si-o sach sa-udaa ho-ay.
Those who gather the wealth of God’s Name with love, realize that it lasts forever.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ) ਖ਼ਰੀਦਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸੌਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੋਟਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
totaa mool na aavee laahaa har bhaavai so-ay.
They never lose this wealth of Naam, and their profit from it is that God seems pleasing to them.
ਇਸ ਸੌਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਘਾਟਾ ਕਦੇ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ; ਤੇ, ਸੌਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲਾਭ ਇਹ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਿਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
naanak tin sach vananji-aa jinaa Dhur likhi-aa paraapat ho-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, they alone amass the true wealth of Naam, who are blessed with such preordained destiny. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਹਾਝਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਦੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਐਸੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਹੈ।

ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ॥
saalaahee sach salaahnaa sach sachaa purakh niraalay.
I wish to only praise that unique eternal God who is worthy of praise.
(ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜੋ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਾਂ l
ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ॥
sach sayvee sach man vasai sach sachaa har rakhvaalay.
I wish I may lovingly remember the eternal God, who is the guardian of all, so that He dwells in my mind forever.
(ਚਿੱਤ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜੋ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂ, ਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰੇ।
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਰਲੇ ਸਚ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
sach sachaa jinee araaDhi-aa say jaa-ay ralay sach naalay.
Those who have truly remembered God with love, have merged with Him.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ ਰਲੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥
sach sachaa jinee na sayvi-aa say manmukh moorh baytaalay.
Those who have not meditated on God are foolish self-conceited demons,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੇਵਿਆ, ਉਹ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਰਖ ਤੇ ਭੂਤਨੇ ਹਨ,
ਓਹ ਆਲੁ ਪਤਾਲੁ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਜਿਉ ਪੀਤੈ ਮਦਿ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ॥੧੯॥
oh aal pataal muhhu bolday ji-o peetai mad matvaalay. ||19||
And like intoxicated drunkards, they utter meaningless prattle.||19||
ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਬਕਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਪੀਤਿਆਂ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ (ਬਕਵਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ)।

Salok, Third Guru:
ਗਉੜੀ ਰਾਗਿ ਸੁਲਖਣੀ ਜੇ ਖਸਮੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
ga-orhee raag sulakh-nee jay khasmai chit karay-i.
The message of Gauree ragini (musical measure) is that a soul-bride is good mannered only if she enshrines the Master-God in her mind.
(ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਗਉੜੀ ਰਾਗਣੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਛਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਏ;
ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਐਸਾ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
bhaanai chalai satguroo kai aisaa seegaar karay-i.
Her adornment should be appropriate to conduct herself in accordance with the true Guru’s Will.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰੇ-ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰੇ;
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਤਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇਇ ॥
sachaa sabad bhataar hai sadaa sadaa raavay-ay.
The divine Word is the Master-God and she should ravish (remember) it, forever and ever.
ਸੱਚਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਰੂਪ ਜੋ) ਖਸਮ (ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਲਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਜਪੇ)।
ਜਿਉ ਉਬਲੀ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਗਹਗਹਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਚੇ ਨੋ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਇ ॥
ji-o ublee majeethai rang gahgahaa ti-o sachay no jee-o day-ay.
As the color of the dye becomes deep by boiling, similarly when the soul-bride totally surrenders herself to the Master-God,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਜੀਠ ਉਬਾਲਾ ਸਹਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਜੀਵ ਰੂਪ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਖਸਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕਰੇ,
ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਅਤਿ ਰਤੀ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
rang chaloolai at ratee sachay si-o lagaa nayhu.
she is deeply in love with God as if she is imbued with the deep color of Naam.
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਨਾਮ ਦੇ) ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕੂੜੁ ਠਗੀ ਗੁਝੀ ਨਾ ਰਹੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਮੁਲੰਮਾ ਪਲੇਟਿ ਧਰੇਹੁ ॥
koorh thagee gujhee naa rahai koorh mulammaa palayt Dharayhu.
Falsehood and deception don’t remain hidden, even if covered with a false coating of truth.
ਕੂੜ ਰੂਪ ਮੁਲੰਮਾ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਲਪੇਟ ਕੇ ਰਖੋ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਜੋ ਝੂਠ ਤੇ ਠੱਗੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਲੁਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਕੂੜੀ ਕਰਨਿ ਵਡਾਈਆ ਕੂੜੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
koorhee karan vadaa-ee-aa koorhay si-o lagaa nayhu.
False is the uttering of praises by those who love falsehood.
ਝੂਠ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰਨੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਝੂਠ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੧॥
naanak sachaa aap hai aapay nadar karay-i. ||1||
O’ Nanak, He alone is true, and He Himself casts His Glance of Grace. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕੇਵਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Fourth Guru:
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥
satsangat meh har ustat hai sang saaDhoo milay pi-aari-aa.
The praises of God are sung in the holy congregation because over there the saintly persons meet the Guru.
ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਓਥੇ) ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਓਇ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਧੰਨਿ ਜਨ ਹਹਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
o-ay purakh paraanee Dhan jan heh updays karahi par-upkaari-aa.
Blessed are those human beings, who preach the teachings of the Guru for the good and welfare of others.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਲਈ ਉਹ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਜਗੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
har naam darirhaaveh har naam sunaaveh har naamay jag nistaari-aa.
By preaching they make them firmly believe in God’s Name, and thus, they emancipate the world.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਦਕ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰ ਵੇਖਣ ਕਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਲੋਚੈ ਨਵ ਖੰਡ ਜਗਤਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
gur vaykhan ka-o sabh ko-ee lochai nav khand jagat namaskaari-aa.
Everyone longs to see the Guru, and the entire universe bows before him.
ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਵਾਂ ਖੰਡਾਂ (ਦੇ ਜੀਵ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
tuDh aapay aap rakhi-aa satgur vich gur aapay tuDh savaari-aa.
O’ the Creator of the true Guru, You have hidden Yourself in the Guru, and You Yourself have embellished the Guru.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਕਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥
too aapay poojeh pooj karaaveh satgur ka-o sirjanhaari-aa.
O’ Creator, You Yourself adore the True Guru, and You inspire others to worship and adore him as well.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਮੁਹੁ ਜਮਿ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥
ko-ee vichhurh jaa-ay satguroo paashu tis kaalaa muhu jam maari-aa.
If someone is separated from the true Guru, he is disgraced in the world and lives under the fear of death.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੜ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਤਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦੂਜੇ ਮੌਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
