ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
sukh saagar amrit har naa-o.
The ambrosial Name of God is like an ocean of peace and comforts.
ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਪਸਾਉ ॥
mangat jan jaachai har dayh pasaa-o.
Your devotee always begs: O’ God, please bless Your grace and bestow the gift of Your Name on me.
(ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਾਸ ਮੰਗਤਾ (ਬਣ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ (ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ) ਦੇਹ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
har sat sat sadaa har sat har sat mayrai man bhaavai jee-o. ||2||
God is truth, yes God is eternal and the eternal God is pleasing to my mind. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਵੇ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਸ੍ਰਵਹਿ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਾ ॥
navay chhidar sarveh apvitraa.
The nine holes (eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth, etc) in a human body keep oozing out impurities and are impure because sins are committed through these.
ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨੱਕ ਕੰਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਨੌ ਛੇਕ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਛੇਕ ਸਿੰਮਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਅਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਭੀ ਹਨ।
ਬੋਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਤਾ ॥
bol har naam pavitar sabh kitaa.
By uttering God’s Name, one can purify them all.
ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਪਾਵਨ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਲੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jay har suparsan hovai mayraa su-aamee har simrat mal leh jaavai jee-o. ||3||
If my Master becomes highly pleased, then by remembering God’s Name all the dirt of evils is removed. ||3||
ਜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
maa-i-aa moh bikham hai bhaaree.
The love for materialism (worldly riches and power) is extremely treacherous.
(ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਕਠਿਨ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਉ ਤਰੀਐ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥
ki-o taree-ai dutar sansaaree.
So, how may one cross over this difficult world-ocean of vices?
ਫਿਰ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਜਾਏ?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
satgur bohith day-ay parabh saachaa jap har har paar langhaavai jee-o. ||4||
The true Guru is like a ship; whom the eternal God blesses with this ship, that person meditates on God’s Name and the Guru ferries him across the worldly ocean of vices. ||4||
ਗੁਰੂ ਜਹਾਜ਼ (ਹੈ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਜਹਾਜ਼) ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਤੂ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
too sarbatar tayraa sabh ko-ee.
O’ God, You are pervading everywhere and everyone has been created by.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਈ ॥
jo too karahi so-ee parabh ho-ee.
O’ God, whatever You do, only that happens.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੇਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧॥੭॥
jan naanak gun gaavai baychaaraa har bhaavai har thaa-ay paavai jee-o. ||5||1||7||
Devotee Nanak sings the praises of God; if this pleases God, He accepts him.||5||1||7||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਕੰਮ) ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੧॥੭॥

Raag Maaroo, Fourth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
har har naam japahu man mayray.
O’ my mind, meditate on God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ
ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
sabh kilvikh kaatai har tayray.
God would eradicate all your sins.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ।
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
har Dhan raakho har Dhan sanchahu har chaldi-aa naal sakhaa-ee jee-o. ||1||
Amass the wealth of God’s Name, enshrine it in your heart; while departing from here the wealth of God’s Name accompanies one like a companion. ||1||
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਇਹੀ ਧਨ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਟੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
jis no kirpaa karay so Dhi-aavai.
Only that person lovingly remembers God on whom He bestows mercy.
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ,ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
nit har jap jaapai jap har sukh paavai.
That person continually recites God’s Name and by meditating on God’s Name, he enjoys spiritual peace.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਆਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parsaadee har ras aavai jap har har paar langhaa-ee jee-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
By the Guru’s grace, one who enjoys the relish of God’s Name, ferries himself across the worldly ocean of vices by meditating on God’s Name. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਬੇੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
nirbha-o nirankaar sat naam.
God is without any fear, without any form and He is eternal.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਦੱਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟੁ ਊਤਮ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
jag meh saraysat ootam kaam.
To meditate on God’s Name is the most sublime deed in the world.
(ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ (ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਵਧੀਆ ਤੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਸਮਨ ਦੂਤ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਠੇਹ ਮਾਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dusman doot jamkaal thayh maara-o har sayvak nayrh na jaa-ee jee-o. ||2||
Meditation on God’s Name makes one spiritually so strong that he can eradicate all his vices and fear of death; the fear of death does not come close to God’s devotee. ||2||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਵੈਰੀ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
jis upar har kaa man maani-aa.
The devotee with whom God is pleased,
ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
so sayvak chahu jug chahu kunt jaani-aa.
that devotee becomes known throughout the world forever.
ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਕਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਖਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jay us kaa buraa kahai ko-ee paapee tis jamkankar khaa-ee jee-o. ||3||
If some sinner speaks ill of that devotee, then the demon of death destroys the sinner (he spiritually deteriorates) . ||3||
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮੀ ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ੀਲੀ ਕਰੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
sabh meh ayk niranjan kartaa.
The immaculate Creator-God pervades all the living beings,
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਪਣੇ ਚਲਤਾ ॥
sabh kar kar vaykhai apnay chaltaa.
He stages all His wondrous plays, and watches them.
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚੋਜ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਮਾਰੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
jis har raakhai tis ka-un maarai jis kartaa aap chhadaa-ee jee-o. ||4||
Who can destroy the one whom God Himself saves and whom the Creator Himself liberates from vices?
ਜੀਹਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਹਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਬੰਦਖ਼ਲਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਮਾਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਈ ਕਰਤਾਰੇ ॥
ha-o an-din naam la-ee kartaaray.
Day and night, I lovingly remember that Creator-God,
ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਉਸ) ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਭਗਤ ਸਭੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
jin sayvak bhagat sabhay nistaaray.
who has ferried all His devotees across the world-ocean of vices.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ-ਭਗਤ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ (ਸਦਾ ਹੀ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਏ ਹਨ।
ਦਸ ਅਠ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਸਭਿ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੨॥੮॥
das ath chaar vayd sabh poochhahu jan naanak naam chhadaa-ee jee-o. ||5||2||8||
Devotee Nanak says, you may read the eighteen Puranaas and the four Vedas (Hindu holy books), they all would tell you that it is only God’s Name that liberate a person from the vices and bonds. ||5||2||8||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਠਾਰਾਂ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਚਾਰ ਵੇਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛ ਵੇਖੋ (ਉਹ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੨॥੮॥

Raag Maaroo, Fifth Guru, Second Beat:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
There is one eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਡਰਪੈ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਨਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਮਰੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥
darpai Dharat akaas nakh-yataraa sir oopar amar karaaraa.
O’ my friend, the earth, the sky, and the stars are all moving in unison under God’s will and His strict command is over all of them.
ਧਰਤੀ, ਆਕਾਸ਼, ਤਾਰੇ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਕਰੜਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਡਰਪੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
pa-un paanee baisantar darpai darpai indar bichaaraa. ||1||
The wind, water and fire also abide by God’s will; and even poor god Indra abides His command. ||1||
ਹਵਾ, ਪਾਣੀ, ਅੱਗ (ਆਦਿਕ ਹਰੇਕ ਤੱਤ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਇੰਦਰ (ਭੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵੇਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
ਏਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ॥
aykaa nirbha-o baat sunee.
I have heard this one thing about God who is free from all fears,
ਮੈਂ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਸੋ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so sukhee-aa so sadaa suhaylaa jo gur mil gaa-ay gunee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that one who meets with the Guru and sings the glorious praises of God, is always happy and in bliss. ||1||Pause||
(ਉਹ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਊਣਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਸੌਖਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੇਹਧਾਰ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਡਰਪਹਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਡਰਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥
dayhDhaar ar dayvaa darpahi siDh saaDhik dar mu-i-aa.
All the human beings and the angels live by God’ command; even the yogis and adepts live by His will.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਸਿੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਭੀ (ਹੁਕਮ ਅੱਗੇ) ਥਰ ਥਰ ਕੰਬਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੋਇਆ ॥੨॥
lakh cha-oraaseeh mar mar janmay fir fir jonee jo-i-aa. ||2||
All the creatures in millions of species remain in the cycle of birth and death; they are made to go through reincarnations. ||2||
ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
