Raag Maaroo, Fourth Guru, Third Beat:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਲੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
har har naam niDhaan lai gurmat har pat paa-ay.
God’s Name is the true treasure; secure it by following the Guru’s teachings because whoever has this treasure is honored in the presence of God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ ਅਸਲ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ; ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ (ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ, (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤੇ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
halat palat naal chaldaa har antay la-ay chhadaa-ay.
Both in this and the next world, this treasure of Naam accompanies us, because of this Naam, God saves us from the tortures of the demon of death in the end.
(ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਬਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਥੈ ਅਵਘਟ ਗਲੀਆ ਭੀੜੀਆ ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
jithai avghat galee-aa bheerhee-aa tithai har har mukat karaa-ay. ||1||
In the journey of life, when we face such difficult situations as if we are passing through difficult narrow paths, God liberates us from those difficulties. ||1||
ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਜਿਸ ਇਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਤਣ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਂਭ ਦੇ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਹਨ, ਬੜੀਆਂ ਭੀੜੀਆਂ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਾਹ ਘੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਥੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ॥
mayray satiguraa mai har har naam drirh-aa-ay.
O’ my true Guru, please firmly enshrine God’s Name in my heart.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪੋ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mayraa maat pitaa sut banDhpo mai har bin avar na maa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mother, for me God is my mother, father, child and the relative; I have none other than Him, who could save me. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! ਹਰੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਨ, ਹਰੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਹੈ। ਹਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰਾ (ਪੱਕਾ ਸਾਕ) ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
mai har birhee har naam hai ko-ee aan milaavai maa-ay.
God’s Name is the love of my heart, O’ my mother, I crave and pray that someone may come and unite me with Him.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ.
ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਮੈ ਜੋਦੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
tis aagai mai jod-rhee mayraa pareetam day-ay milaa-ay.
I pray in humble devotion to the one who would unite me with my beloved God.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਭਲਾ ਜਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
satgur purakh da-i-aal parabh har maylay dhil na paa-ay. ||2||
It is the merciful true Guru is the one who unites one with God and does not delay at all. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਰਤਾ ਢਿੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
jin har har naam na chayti-o say bhaagheen mar jaa-ay.
Those who have never meditated on God’s Name, are unfortunate beings and they remain spiritually dead.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹਨ। (ਨਾਮ-ਹੀਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
o-ay fir fir jon bhavaa-ee-ah mar jameh aavai jaa-ay.
Those who are devoid of Naam are made to wander in reincarnations and remain in the cycle of birth and death.
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਵਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਓਇ ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
o-ay jam dar baDhay maaree-ah har dargeh milai sajaa-ay. ||3||
Those devoid of Naam are severely punished as if they are bound at the door of the demon of death; they receive this punishment in God’s presence. ||3||
ਉਹ (ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਹੋਏ) ਬੰਦੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਬੱਝੇ ਮਾਰੀ-ਕੁੱਟੀਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ) ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਮ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
too parabh ham sarnaagatee mo ka-o mayl laihu har raa-ay.
O’ God, You are our Master and we have come to Your refuge. O’ Almighty, please unite me with Yourself.
ਹੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ।
ਹਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਗਜੀਵਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥
har Dhaar kirpaa jagjeevanaa gur satgur kee sarnaa-ay.
O’ God, life of the universe, please bestow mercy and always keep me in the true Guru’s refuge.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਰੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ ਰੱਖ)।
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥
har jee-o aap da-i-aal ho-ay jan naanak har maylaa-ay. ||4||1||3||
O’ Nanak, say: O’ God, please bestow mercy and unite me with Yourself. ||4||1||3||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥

Raag Maaroo, Fourth Guru:
ਹਉ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਸਾਇਦਾ ਕੋ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
ha-o poonjee naam dasaa-idaa ko dasay har Dhan raas.
O’ my friends, I am wandering around and searching for the treasure of God’s Name; if someone would lead me to that wealth of God’s Name,
ਮੈਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਰਮਾਏ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰਮਾਏ ਦੀ ਦੱਸ ਪਾ ਦੇਵੇ,
ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਖਨ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
ha-o tis vitahu khan khannee-ai mai maylay har parabh paas.
and unite me with God, then I would sacrifice my everything for him.
ਤੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਵਾਂ, ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਵਾਂ।
ਮੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਪਿਰੰਮ ਕਾ ਕਿਉ ਸਜਣੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
mai antar paraym piramm kaa ki-o sajan milai milaas. ||1||
My heart is filled with the intense love for my beloved God; I am longing to find out how I may achieve the union with Him? ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸੱਜਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲੇ? ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲਾਂ? ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
man pi-aari-aa mitraa mai har har naam Dhan raas.
O’ my mind, my dear friend, I crave for God’s Name, the true wealth for me.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਅਸਲ) ਧਨ (ਅਸਲ) ਸਰਮਾਇਆ (ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਧੀਰਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai naam drirh-aa-i-aa har Dheerak har saabaas. ||1|| rahaa-o.
God supports and applauds the person within whom the perfect Guru has enshrined the Naam. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧੀਰਜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੈ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
har har aap milaa-ay gur mai dasay har Dhan raas.
O’ God, please unite me with the Guru, who may lead me to the treasure of the wealth of Your Naam.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਹ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਖਾ ਦੇਵੇ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਲਭਈ ਜਨ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਿਰਜਾਸਿ ॥
bin gur paraym na labh-ee jan vaykhhu man nirjaas.
O’ the devotees, you can reflect in your mind and decide for yourselves, that without the Guru, one will not be blessed with God’s love.
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਰਣਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ, ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
har gur vich aap rakhi-aa har maylay gur saabaas. ||2||
God has enshrined Himself in the Guru; blessed is the Guru who unites us with Him. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰੋ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਗਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
saagar bhagat bhandaar har pooray satgur paas.
The perfect Guru has oceans of treasures brimful with God’s devotional worship
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਖੋਲਿ ਦੇਇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥
satgur tuthaa khol day-ay mukh gurmukh har pargaas.
When pleased, the true Guru opens this treasure, and the true followers of the Guru are blessed with the divine light.
ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਤਿਖ ਮੁਈਆ ਕੰਧੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
manmukh bhaag vihooni-aa tikh mu-ee-aa kanDhee paas. ||3||
Unfortunate are those self-willed people who despite being near the Guru, spiritually deteriorate like someone residing at the bank of a river dies from thirst. ||3||
ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਉਵੇਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਭੀ ਤਿਹਾਇਆ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਉ ਮਾਗਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
gur daataa daataar hai ha-o maaga-o daan gur paas.
The beneficent Guru is capable of giving; I beg for the blessing from Him,
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਖ਼ੈਰ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਡੜੀ ਆਸ ॥
chiree vichhunnaa mayl parabh mai man tan vadrhee aas.
that He may unite me with God from whom I have been separated for a very long time; there is an intense desire in my heart and mind to meet Him.
ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਬੜੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁਣਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
har har kathaa sunaa-ay parabh gurmat har ridai samaanee.
O’ Divine Guru, recite to me the divine words of God’s praises, these divine words would get enshrine in my heart by following your teachings .
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ! ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਸੁਣਾ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਖਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥
jap har har kathaa vadbhaagee-aa har utam pad nirbaanee.
By meditating on God’s Name, many fortunate ones have attained the supreme spiritual status which is free from the love for the worldly desires.
ਹੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਉੱਤਮ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
