ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸਭ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟ ॥
mayray man har bhaj sabh kilbikh kaat.
O’ my mind, lovingly remember God, who is the dispeller of all sins.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੀਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਟ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har ur Dhaari-o gur poorai mayraa sees keejai gur vaat. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The perfect Guru has enshrined God within my heart; I concentrate muy mimd om the Guru’s path ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਕਟਿ ਕਾਟ ॥
mayray har parabh kee mai baat sunaavai tis man dayva-o kat kaat.
Whoever recites to me the praises of God, I would totally dedicate my mind to him.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਾਵੇ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੇਲਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਬਿਕਾਨੋ ਹਟਿ ਹਾਟ ॥੧॥
har saajan mayli-o gur poorai gur bachan bikaano hat haat. ||1||
The Perfect Guru has united me with the beloved God; for the sake of the Guru’s word, I have dedicated myself to the holy congregation. ||1||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੱਟੀ ਹੱਟੀ ਵਿਕਿਆ (ਗੁਲਾਮ) ਬਣ ਚੁਕਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮਕਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਗਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਦੀਓ ਅਧ ਕਾਟਿ ॥
makar paraag daan baho kee-aa sareer dee-o aDh kaat.
(according to Hindu belief), in the auspicious month of Maagh one may have given lot of charity at Prayaag (sacred place), and got his body cut into two halves,
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਘ ਦੀ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਂਦ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਗ-ਤੀਰਥ ਉਤੇ (ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਵੱਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੁ-ਫਾੜ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਟਿ ਕਾਟ ॥੨॥
bin har naam ko mukat na paavai baho kanchan deejai kat kaat. ||2||
one may give huge amounts of gold in charity as small pieces to many, but no one attains liberation from vices without lovingly remembering God’s Name.||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁਕਤੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ) ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੋਨਾ ਭੀ ਥੋੜਾ ਥੋੜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਓ ਮਨਿ ਉਘਰੇ ਕਪਟ ਕਪਾਟ ॥
har keerat gurmat jas gaa-i-o man ughray kapat kapaat.
One who sang God’s praises through the Guru’s teachings, the shutters of deception of his mind opened up (his mind became spiritually enlightened)
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਵਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਕਿਵਾੜ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਗਏ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ)।
ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਫੋਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਲਜ ਭਾਨੀ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਮਾਟ ॥੩॥
tarikutee for bharam bha-o bhaagaa laj bhaanee matukee maat. ||3||
One whose doubt and fear ran away by eradicating the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue and power), his fear of public opinion also vanished. ||3||
ਤਿੰਨੇ ਗੁਣ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਦੀ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਭੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ ॥੩॥
ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਲਿਲਾਟ ॥
kaljug gur pooraa tin paa-i-aa jin Dhur mastak likhay lilaat.
In kalyug, only those who were preordained have met the perfect Guru.
ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਸਭ ਲਾਥੀ ਭੂਖ ਤਿਖਾਟ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
jan naanak ras amrit pee-aa sabh laathee bhookh tikhaat. ||4||6|| chhakaa 1.
O’ Nanak, those who drank the ambrosial nectar of Naam, all their fierce desire for worldly riches got quenched. ||4||6|| Set of Six Hymns ||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ॥੪॥੬॥ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਟਹਲ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰ ॥
ray man tahal har sukh saar.
O’ my mind, devotional worship of God provides true celestial peace.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਅਸਲ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰ ਟਹਲਾ ਝੂਠੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਕਰੈ ਜਮੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar tahlaa jhoothee-aa nit karai jam sir maar. ||1|| rahaa-o
Other ritualistic worships are false, those who indulge in these remain under the fear of the demon of death and spiritual decline. ||1||Pause||
ਹੋਰ ਟਹਲਾਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ, ਹੋਰ ਟਹਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਵਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਨਾ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੀਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੰਗਾਰ ॥
jinaa mastak leekhi-aa tay milay sangaar.
Those who are predestined, they alone join the congregation of saints.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਚੰਗਾ ਭਾਗ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੧॥
sansaar bha-ojal taari-aa har sant purakh apaar. ||1||
In that company, the saints of the all pervading infinite God help them to swim across the dreadful worldly ocean of vices. ||1||
(ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਨਿਤ ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਤਜਿ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
nit charan sayvhu saaDh kay taj lobh moh bikaar.
O’ my mind, renouncing greed, worldly attachment and other vices, always follow the Guru’s teachings.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ।
ਸਭ ਤਜਹੁ ਦੂਜੀ ਆਸੜੀ ਰਖੁ ਆਸ ਇਕ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੨॥
sabh tajahu doojee aasrhee rakh aas ik nirankaar. ||2||
Abandon all other hopes, and rest your hopes in the one formless God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਆਸ਼ਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ,ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖ ॥੨॥
ਇਕਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਾਕਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰ ॥
ik bharam bhoolay saaktaa bin gur anDh anDhaar.
There are many faithless cynics who are deluded by the illusion of Maya, without the Guru’s teachings, they remain in the darkness of spiritual ignorance.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਕਈ ਬੰਦੇ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧੁਰਿ ਹੋਵਨਾ ਸੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੋ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰ ॥੩॥
Dhur hovnaa so ho-i-aa ko na maytanhaar. ||3||
Whatever is pre-ordained, comes to pass; no one can erase it. ||3||
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਧੁਰਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋ ਲਿਖ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਹੋਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਨਾਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
agam roop gobind kaa anik naam apaar.
God’s status is unfathomable; innumerable are the Names of the infinite God
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਹਨ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ)।
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰ ॥੪॥੧॥
Dhan Dhan tay jan naankaa jin har naamaa ur Dhaar. ||4||1||
O’ Nanak! extremely blessed are those people who have enshrined God’s Name in their hearts. ||4||1|
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਮਾਲੀ ਗਉੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Raag Maalee Gauraa, Fifth Guru:
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥
raam naam ka-o namaskaar.
(O’ my friend), humbly bow to the Name of the all pervading God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਓ,
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaas japat hovat uDhaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
remembering which, one swims across the world-ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਧੰਧ ॥
jaa kai simran miteh DhanDh.
By remembering whom (God), one’s worldly entanglements are removed,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਬੰਧ ॥
jaa kai simran chhooteh banDh.
remembering whom one’s bonds of worldly attachments are loosened,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਚਤੁਰ ॥
jaa kai simran moorakh chatur.
meditating on whom the fools become wise,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਭੀ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕੁਲਹ ਉਧਰ ॥੧॥
jaa kai simran kulah uDhar. ||1||
by remembering whom, one’s entire lineage is emancipated. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੁਲ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ) ॥੧॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਭਉ ਦੁਖ ਹਰੈ ॥
jaa kai simran bha-o dukh harai.
By remembering whom (God) one eradicates one’s fear and sorrows,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਪਦਾ ਟਰੈ ॥
jaa kai simran apdaa tarai.
remembering whom misfortune is avoided.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਟਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮੁਚਤ ਪਾਪ ॥
jaa kai simran muchat paap.
remembering whom one’s sins are erased,
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥
jaa kai simran nahee santaap. ||2||
and by remembering whom (God), one is not distressed by any woe. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਰਿਦ ਬਿਗਾਸ ॥
jaa kai simran rid bigaas.
By remembering whom (God), the heart remains delighted,
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਵਲਾ ਦਾਸਿ ॥
jaa kai simran kavlaa daas.
remembering whom Maya becomes one’s servant.
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ (ਭੀ) ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
jaa kai simran niDh niDhaan.
remembering whom one is blessed with the treasures of all kinds of wealth,
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ),
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤਰੇ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੩॥
jaa kai simran taray nidaan. ||3||
and remembering whom one ultimately swims across the worldly ocean of vices. ||3||
ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੀ ॥
patit paavan naam haree.
God’s Name is the purifier of the sinners,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ l
ਕੋਟਿ ਭਗਤ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਕਰੀ ॥
kot bhagat uDhaar karee.
and it saves millions of devotees.
ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਦਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਾ ਦੀਨੁ ਸਰਨ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਥਾ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ॥੪॥੨॥
har daas daasaa deen saran. naanak maathaa sant charan. ||4||2||
Nanak humbly bows to the saints; poor Nanak has come to the refuge of the servants of God’s devotees (to be blessed with God’s Name). ||4||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ)॥੪॥੨॥
ਮਾਲੀ ਗਉੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਐਸੋ ਸਹਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥
aiso sahaa-ee har ko naam.
O’ brother, so helpful is God’s Name,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saaDhsangat bhaj pooran kaam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that, if you lovingly remember it in the holy congregation, all your tasks will be accomplished. ||1||Pause||
ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਣਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬੂਡਤ ਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਮਿਲਤ ॥
boodat ka-o jaisay bayrhee milat.
God’s Name is like a boat to a drowning man,
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਉਂ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਬੇੜੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ,
