ਜਿਉ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
ji-o baisantar Dhaat suDh ho-ay ti-o har kaa bha-o durmat mail gavaa-ay.
Just as upon putting in fire, a metal becomes pure, similarly the revered fear of God dispels the dirt of evil intellect.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆਂ ਸੋਨਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਧਾਤ ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak tay jan sohnay jo ratay har rang laa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, virtuous are those devotees, who develop love for God and remain imbued with His love. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ) ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਬਨਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
raamkalee raam man vasi-aa taa bani-aa seegaar.
If God is enshrined in the mind of a soul-bride by singing Ramkali, a melodious musical rhythm, then this effort of her became her decoration.
ਰਾਮਕਲੀ (ਰਾਗਨੀ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਆ ਤਾ ਸਉਪਿਆ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥
gur kai sabad kamal bigsi-aa taa sa-upi-aa bhagat bhandaar.
Her heart got delighted through the Guru’s word and God bestowed her the treasure of devotional worship.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਕਮਲ ਖਿੜ ਪਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਖਸ਼ ਦਿਤਾ ।
ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਤਾ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥
bharam ga-i-aa taa jaagi-aa chookaa agi-aan anDhaar.
Her doubt was dispelled, she became spiritually enlightened and the darkness of ignorance vanished.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੇ ਗਈ, ਮਨ ਜਾਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ।
ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਲਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
tis no roop at aglaa jis har naal pi-aar.
The soul-bride who is truly in love with her Husband-God looks extremely beautiful and virtuous.
ਜਿਸ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (-ਪਤੀ) ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ (ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ) ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਰੂਪ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਰਵੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
sadaa ravai pir aapnaa sobhaavantee naar.
Such a glorious soul-bride enjoys the company of her Husband-God forever.
ਉਹ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਜੀਵ- ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
manmukh seegaar na jaannee jaasan janam sabh haar.
The self-willed soul-brides do not know how to decorate themselves with divine virtues; they would depart from here losing the game of human life.
ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀਆਂ; ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ-ਜਨਮ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
bin har bhagtee seegaar karahi nit jameh ho-ay khu-aar.
Those who decorate themselves with ornaments (garbs and rituals) without the devotional worship of God, keep suffering through the cycle of birth and death.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ -ਪਤੀ) ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਹੋਰ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਆਦਿਕ) ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਜੋ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ) ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਨਿੱਤ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੰਮਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ)।
ਸੈਸਾਰੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੋਭ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਅਗੈ ਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
saisaarai vich sobh na paa-inee agai je karay so jaanai kartaar.
They do not get any respect in this world, the Creator-God alone knows what happens with them in the world hereafter.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਰਤਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਹੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
naanak sachaa ayk hai duhu vich hai sansaar.
O’ Nanak! God alone is eternal, and the rest of the world goes through the cycle of birth and death.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਦੁਨੀਆਦਾਰ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ (ਦੇ ਚੱਕਰ) ਵਿਚ ਹੈ।
ਚੰਗੈ ਮੰਦੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਸੋ ਕਰਨਿ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
changai mandai aap laa-i-an so karan je aap karaa-ay kartaar. ||2||
God Himself attaches them to good or bad deeds; they do what the Creator makes them do. ||2||
ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਲਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਉਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥

ThirdGuru:
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
bin satgur sayvay saaNt na aavee doojee naahee jaa-ay.
Tranquility is not attained without following the true Guru’s teachings, and except for the Guru, there is no other place for tranquility.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੋਈ (ਹੋਰ) ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
jay bahutayraa lochee-ai vin karmaa paa-i-aa na jaa-ay.
No matter how much we long, we cannot meet the Guru without good destiny.
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰੀਏ, ਭਾਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਇ ॥
antar lobh vikaar hai doojai bhaa-ay khu-aa-ay.
Those who have the evil of greed within, they are lost in the love of duality.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੋਭ-ਰੂਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ , ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨ ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
tin jaman maran na chuk-ee ha-umai vich dukh paa-ay.
Their cycle of birth and death never ends, engrossed in ego, they endure misery.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ (ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jinee satgur si-o chit laa-i-aa so khaalee ko-ee naahi.
Those who focus their mind on the true Guru‘s teachings, do not remain unfulfilled for love for God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਪਿਆਰ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁੰਞੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਤਲਬ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥
tin jam kee talab na hova-ee naa o-ay dukh sahaahi.
They are not afraid of death, and they do not endure suffering.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ) ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
naanak gurmukh ubray sachai sabad samaahi. ||3||
O’ Nanak, the Guru’s followers are saved because they remain merged in the eternal God through the Guru’s word. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ (“ਜਮ ਦੀ ਤਲਬ” ਤੋਂ) ਬਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥

Pauree:
ਆਪਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਹੋਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਸਭਿ ਧਾਵਹਿ ॥
aap alipat sadaa rahai hor DhanDhai sabh Dhaaveh.
God Himself remains detached from worldly involvements, but all beings keep running after worldly tasks.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਆਪ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ) ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਝੰਬੇਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਪਿ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਅਚਲੁ ਹੈ ਹੋਰਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ॥
aap nihchal achal hai hor aavahi jaaveh.
God Himself is eternal, all the beings remain in the cycle of birth and death.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਤੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
sadaa sadaa har Dhi-aa-ee-ai gurmukh sukh paavahi.
We should always lovingly remember God; those who follow the Guru’s teachings and remember God with adoration, receive celestial peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜੋ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ (ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ) ਸੁਖ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ॥
nij ghar vaasaa paa-ee-ai sach sifat samaaveh.
They find a place in their own heart (the abode of God), and by singing the praises of God they remain absorbed in God.
ਉਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚਾ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੮॥
sachaa gahir gambheer hai gur sabad bujhaa-ee. ||8||
The eternal God is profound and unfathomable; God Himself makes us understand it through the Guru’s word. ||8||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ (ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥

Shalok, Third Guru:
ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਸਭੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਚੁ ॥
sachaa naam Dhi-aa-ay too sabho vartai sach.
O’ my friend, remember the Name of the eternal God who pervades everywhere.
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਜੋ ਬੁਝੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸਚੁ ॥
naanak hukmai jo bujhai so fal paa-ay sach.
O’ Nanak, one who understands and lives by God’s will, as a reward obtains union with Him.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ-ਰੂਪ ਫਲ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਨੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਚੁ ॥
kathnee badnee kartaa firai hukam na boojhai sach.
But, the one who goes about indulging in useless talks doesn’t understand the command of the eternal God.
(ਪਰ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ) ਮੂੰਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਣੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਕਚੁ ਨਿਕਚੁ ॥੧॥
naanak har kaa bhaanaa mannay so bhagat ho-ay vin mannay kach nikach. ||1||
O Nanak, one who accepts God’s will, is a true devotee and without obeying His command, he is absolutely immature and false. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਅਸਲ) ਭਗਤ ਹੈ। ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਕੱਚਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਅੱਲ੍ਹੜ ਮਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥

Third Guru:
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਓਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
manmukh bol na jaannee onaa andar kaam kroDh ahaNkaar.
The self-willed people do not know what the appropriate words are according to the occasion, because within them is the lust, anger and egotism.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜੀਵ ਸਮੇ-ਸਿਰ ਢੁਕਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਹਨ।
ਓਇ ਥਾਉ ਕੁਥਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਉਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
o-ay thaa-o kuthaa-o na jaannee un antar lobh vikaar.
They can’t discriminate between right and wrong places, because within them is evil of greed.
ਉਹ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਕੁਥਾਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਭ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਓਇ ਆਪਣੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਆਇ ਬਹਿ ਗਲਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਓਨਾ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮੁ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ॥
o-ay aapnai su-aa-ay aa-ay bahi galaa karahi onaa maaray jam jandaar.
Wherever they go, they talk about their self interests, therefore they are always under the fear of the cruel demon of death.
(ਜਿਥੇ ਭੀ) ਉਹ ਆ ਕੇ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਰਥ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸੋ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ਜਮ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਬਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਅਗੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਲੇਖੈ ਮੰਗਿਐ ਮਾਰਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ਕੀਚਹਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ॥
agai dargeh laykhai mangi-ai maar khu-aar keecheh koorhi-aar.
Hereafter, when asked to account for their deeds in God’s presence, these false ones are punished and ruined.
ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਕੂੜ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਏਹ ਕੂੜੈ ਕੀ ਮਲੁ ਕਿਉ ਉਤਰੈ ਕੋਈ ਕਢਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
ayh koorhai kee mal ki-o utrai ko-ee kadhahu ih veechaar.
Let someone think and find out, how this dirt of falsehood can be removed?
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੱਸੇ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਵੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਏ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
satgur milai taa naam dirhaa-ay sabh kilvikh katanhaar.
If one meets the true Guru, then the Guru firmly implants Naam in his heart which can eradicate all sins.
ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਬਿਠਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥
naam japay naamo aaraaDhay tis jan ka-o karahu sabh namaskaar.
Let all bow in humility to that person who recites God’s Name and remembers God’s Name with adoration.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਓ,
