ਰਾਗ ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਣੀ ‘ਸਦੁ’ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਬੁਲਾਵਾ)
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਗਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jag daataa so-ay bhagat vachhal tihu lo-ay jee-o.
That God alone is the beneficent of the Universe who is the lover of His devotional worship throughout the three worlds.
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਵਏ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur sabad samaav-ay avar na jaanai ko-ay jee-o.
Guru Amardas has remained merged in God through the Guru’s divine word and he does not know anyone else like Him.
ਉਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਲੀਨ (ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
ਅਵਰੋ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੇ ॥in
avro na jaaneh sabad gur kai ayk naam Dhi-aavhay.
Yes, always remaining merged in the Guru’s divine word, Guru Amardas has not known anyone else like God, and he has been meditating on God’s Name.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ (ਰਹੇ) ਹਨ, ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਉਂਦੇ (ਰਹੇ) ਹਨ;
ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਪਰਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਵਹੇ ॥
parsaad naanak guroo angad param padvee paavhay.
By the grace of Guru Nanak and Guru Angad, he (Guru Amardas) has already attained the supreme spiritual status.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਉੱਚੇ ਦਰਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਚੁਕੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਇਆ ਹਕਾਰਾ ਚਲਣਵਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
aa-i-aa hakaaraa chalanvaaraa har raam naam samaa-i-aa.
When Guru Amardas was absorbed in God’s Name, a message from God arrived for his departure from this world,
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਸੀ, (ਧੁਰੋਂ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ;
ਜਗਿ ਅਮਰੁ ਅਟਲੁ ਅਤੋਲੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
jag amar atal atol thaakur bhagat tay har paa-i-aa. ||1||
While living in the world, through devotional worship Guru Amardas had received union with the eternal Master-God of unestimable virtues. ||1||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ) ਅਮਰ, ਅਟੱਲ, ਅਤੋਲ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
har bhaanaa gur bhaa-i-aa gur jaavai har parabh paas jee-o.
God’s will was pleasing to the Guru Amar Das and he got ready to go and unite with God.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਜੀ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਪਏ।s
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਹੁ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
satgur karay har peh bayntee mayree paij rakhahu ardaas jee-o.
The true Guru Amardas humbly prayed to God and said: O’ God, save my honor.
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਹ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ, (ਹੇ ਹਰੀ!) ਮੇਰੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖ।
ਪੈਜ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨਹ ਕੇਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੋ ॥
paij raakho har janah kayree har dayh naam niranjano.
Yes, O’ God, save the honor of Your devotees and bless with Your immaculate Name,
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖ, ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਮੋਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼,
ਅੰਤਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਬੇਲੀ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਕਾਲੁ ਨਿਖੰਜਨੋ ॥
ant chaldi-aa ho-ay baylee jamdoot kaal nikhanjano.
which becomes a companion at this time of final departure and eradicates the fear of the demon of death.
ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਹ, ਜੋ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
satguroo kee bayntee paa-ee har parabh sunee ardaas jee-o.
God listened and accepted this prayer of the true Guru Amardas.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਹ ਬੇਨਤੀ, ਇਹ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ, ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ,
ਹਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
har Dhaar kirpaa satgur milaa-i-aa Dhan Dhan kahai saabaas jee-o. ||2||
Bestowing mercy, God united true Guru Amardas with Him and applauded himby saying well done again and again. ||2||
ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ-ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ੇ! ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੁਤ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਮੇਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਉ ਮੈ ਪਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
mayray sikh sunhu put bhaa-eeho mayrai har bhaanaa aa-o mai paas jee-o.
Listen O’ my disciples, sons and brothers, it is the will of my God that I must now go to Him.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿੱਖੋ, ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰੋ, ਅਤੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! ਸੁਣੋ; ਮੇਰੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ‘ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉ’।
ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
har bhaanaa gur bhaa-i-aa mayraa har parabh karay saabaas jee-o.
The will of God has appealed to the Guru and God is applauding him for that.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵਏ ॥
bhagat satgur purakh so-ee jis har parabh bhaanaa bhaav-ay.
That person alone is a true devotee and a true Guru to whom God’s will is pleasing,
ਉਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਜਹਿ ਵਾਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਗਲਿ ਮੇਲਾਵਏ ॥
aanand anhad vajeh vaajay har aap gal maylaava-ay.aaaa
and he feels as if bliss producing musical instruments are continuously playing within him; God always keeps such a person in His presence.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਵਾਜੇ ਇੱਕ-ਰਸ ਵੱਜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਸੀ ਪੁਤ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਰਜਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
tusee put bhaa-ee parvaar mayraa man vaykhhu kar nirjaas jee-o.
You are my sons, my brothers and my family, think carefully in your mind and decide for yourself,
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋ, ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਹੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਹੋ; ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਆਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਹੁ,
ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਣਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Dhur likhi-aa parvaanaa firai naahee gur jaa-ay har parabh paas jee-o. ||3||
because the preordained command of God cannot be refused and Guru Amardas is going to go and unite with God. ||3||
ਕਿ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁਕਮ (ਕਦੇ) ਟਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ; (ਸੋ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੁਣ) ਗੁਰੂ, ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭਾਣੈ ਆਪਣੈ ਬਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ਸਦਾਇਆ ॥
satgur bhaanai aapnai bahi parvaar sadaa-i-aa.
As per his own desire, the true Guru, Guru Amardas, called for his family,
ਗੁਰੂ (ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਘੱਲਿਆ;
ਮਤ ਮੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਵਸੀ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
mat mai pichhai ko-ee rovsee so mai mool na bhaa-i-aa.
and proclaimed: no one should weep after I am gone; it would not be pleasing to me at all.
(ਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ-) ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਵੇ ਨਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ (ਰੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਣਾ।
ਮਿਤੁ ਪੈਝੈ ਮਿਤੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਤ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਭਾਵਏ ॥
mit paijhai mit bigsai jis mit kee paij bhaav-ay.
One who feels pleased when his friend is glorified, and he is delighted when his friend is honored.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ (ਹੁੰਦੀ) ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਸੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਪੁਤ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪੈਨਾਵਏ ॥
tusee veechaar daykhhu put bhaa-ee har satguroo painaava-ay.
Consider this and see, O’ my sons and brothers; God is honoring the true Guru.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁਤਰੋ ਤੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! (ਹੁਣ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੁਸੀ ਭੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋਵੋ)।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਤਖਿ ਹੋਦੈ ਬਹਿ ਰਾਜੁ ਆਪਿ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ॥
satguroo partakh hodai bahi raaj aap tikaa-i-aa.
Then the true Guru (Guru Amardas), while still present in his physical form, appointed the successor to his spiritual throne.
ਫਿਰ) ਗੁਰੂ (ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਜਾਮੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਗੱਦੀ (ਭੀ) ਥਾਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
ਸਭਿ ਸਿਖ ਬੰਧਪ ਪੁਤ ਭਾਈ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
sabh sikh banDhap put bhaa-ee raamdaas pairee paa-i-aa. ||4||
(He anointed Ram Das as the next Guru) and made all the disciples, relatives, sons and brothers bow to Guru Ramdas. ||4||
(ਅਤੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਸਾਕਾਂ-ਅੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਪੁਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਅਤੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪॥
ਅੰਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਮੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਿਅਹੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
antay satgur boli-aa mai pichhai keertan kari-ahu nirbaan jee-o.
Finally the true Guru (Guru Amardas) proclaimed: when I am gone, recite the divine words of praises of the immaculate God.
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਰਿਓ,
ਕੇਸੋ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸਦਿਅਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਪੜਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
kayso gopaal pandit sadi-ahu har har kathaa parheh puraan jee-o.
Invite the devotees of God to reflect on the divine words of God’s praises.
ਕੇਸੋ ਗੋਪਾਲ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ) ਦੇ ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦ ਘੱਲਿਓ, ਜੋ (ਆ ਕੇ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਵਾਰਤਾ-ਰੂਪ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਪੜੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਬੇਬਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਵਏ ॥
har kathaa parhee-ai har naam sunee-ai baybaan har rang gur bhaav-ay.
Yes, read the divine words and listen to God’s Name; the casket decorated only with God’s love is pleasing to the Guru.
(ਚੇਤਾ ਰੱਖਿਓ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ (ਹੀ) ਪੜ੍ਹਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬੇਬਾਣ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ (ਕੇਵਲ) ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਤਲਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਦੀਵਾ ਫੁਲ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਿ ਪਾਵਏ ॥
pind patal kiri-aa deevaa ful har sar paav-ay.
Instead of performing rituals like offering rice-balls on leaves, lighting lamps, and putting the bones (left after cremation) in the Ganges; the Guru prefers singing God’s praises in the holy congregation.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਤਾਂ) ਪਿੰਡ ਪਤਲਿ, ਕਿਰਿਆ, ਦੀਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਫੁੱਲ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har bhaa-i-aa satgur boli-aa har mili-aa purakh sujaan jee-o.
The true Guru, who was pleasing to God, proclaimed that he got united with the all pervading wise God.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ) ਇਉਂ ਆਖਿਆ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਜਾਣ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ।
ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਸੋਢੀ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਦੀਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥
raamdaas sodhee tilak dee-aa gur sabad sach neesaan jee-o. ||5||
Guru Amardas anointed Ram Das Sodhi as the Guru and bestowed upon him the true insignia of Guru’s divine word. ||5||
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸੋਢੀ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਦਾ) ਤਿਲਕ (ਅਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ-ਰੂਪ ਸੱਚੀ ਰਾਹਦਾਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ॥੫॥
