ਓੁਂ ਨਮੋ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
oN namo bhagvant gusaa-ee.
I bow to the all pervading Master-God of the world.
ਮੈਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਕੀਰਤੀਮਾਨ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸ਼ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਖਾਲਕੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਠਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khaalak rav rahi-aa sarab thaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The creator-God is pervading everywhere. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਗੰਨਾਥ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਮਾਧੋ ॥
jagannaath jagjeevan maaDho.
God is the master of the universe, the life of the world and the master of wealth.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸ਼੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਆਲਮ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ।
ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਅਰਾਧੋ ॥
bha-o bhanjan rid maahi araaDho.
Lovingly remember God, the destroyer of all fears, within your heart.
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੂੰ ਡਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
ਰਿਖੀਕੇਸ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋੁਵਿੰਦ ॥
rikheekays gopaal govind.
God is the master of the sensory organs, sustainer and protector of the world.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਇੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਰਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ,
ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਮੁਕੰਦ ॥੨॥
pooran sarbatar mukand. ||2||
God is perfect, ever-present everywhere and is the liberator from vices. ||2||
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਮਉਲਾ ਤੂਹੀ ਏਕ ॥
miharvaan ma-ulaa toohee ayk.
O’ merciful God! You alone are the giver of salvation.
ਹੇ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਪੀਰ ਪੈਕਾਂਬਰ ਸੇਖ ॥
peer paikaaNbar saykh.
You Yourself are the spiritual guide, messenger, and religious teacher.
ਪੀਰਾਂ ਪੈਗ਼ੰਬਰਾਂ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਦਿਲਾ ਕਾ ਮਾਲਕੁ ਕਰੇ ਹਾਕੁ ॥
dilaa kaa maalak karay haak.
You are the Master of all hearts and You always dispense justice.
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੁਰਾਨ ਕਤੇਬ ਤੇ ਪਾਕੁ ॥੩॥
kuraan katayb tay paak. ||3||
You are more sacred than what Quran and Semitic books say about You. ||3||
ਤੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਰਹਰ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
naaraa-in narhar da-i-aal.
The merciful God Himself is Narayan and Narsingh (the lion-man).
ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਹੈ।
ਰਮਤ ਰਾਮ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਆਧਾਰ ॥
ramat raam ghat ghat aaDhaar.
The all pervading God is the support of each and every heart.
ਉਹ ਰਾਮ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਬਸਤ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥
baasudayv basat sabh thaa-ay.
He Himself is the Basudev (lord Krishana) who dwells everywhere,
ਉਹੀ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵ (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ} ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਲੀਲਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਲਖੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥
leelaa kichh lakhee na jaa-ay. ||4||
and whose wondrous play cannot be described. ||4||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਖੇਡ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੪॥
ਮਿਹਰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰ ॥
mihar da-i-aa kar karnaihaar.
O’ God, the creator of all, bestow compassion and mercy on all,
ਹੇ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ , ਦਇਆ ਕਰ
ਭਗਤਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ॥
bhagat bandagee deh sirjanhaar.
O’ the Creator, bless the mortals with Your devotional worship.
ਹੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ! ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੇਹ l
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਏ ਭਰਮ ॥
kaho naanak gur kho-ay bharam.
Nanak says, the one whose doubts have been dispelled by the Guru,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ,
ਏਕੋ ਅਲਹੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥੫॥੩੪॥੪੫॥
ayko alhu paarbarahm. ||5||34||45||
he beholds Allah (God’s Name for Muslims), and Paarbraham (God’s Name for Hindus) as one. ||5||34||45||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਅੱਲਾਹ ਅਤੇ (ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਦਾ) ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥੩੪॥੪੫॥

Raag Raamkalee, Fifth Guru:
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਪਾਪ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
kot janam kay binsay paap. har har japat naahee santaap.
By meditating on God’s Name, one is never afflicted with any calamity, and the sins of millions of births are eradicated.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ (ਪਿਛਲੇ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਾਪ ਭੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੇ ॥
gur kay charan kamal man vasay.
One in whose mind are enshrined the immaculate words of the Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਨਸੇ ॥੧॥
mahaa bikaar tan tay sabh nasay. ||1||
all terrible evils hasten away from his body. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ (ਭੀ) ਸਾਰੇ ਨੱਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਕੋ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
gopaal ko jas gaa-o paraanee.
O’ mortal, sing praises of God, the sustainer of the universe.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ।
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਸਾਚੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
akath kathaa saachee parabh pooran jotee jot samaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who sings the indescribable and eternal praises of the all pervading God, his soul merges in God’s lPrime soul. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਅਕਹਿ ਤੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਅ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੀ ॥
tarisnaa bhookh sabh naasee.
All the yearning for the worldly riches and power of a person is totally quenched;
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
sant parsaad japi-aa abhinaasee.
who lovingly remembered the immortal God by the Guru’s grace.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ-ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ।
ਰੈਨਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਨੀ ॥
rain dinas parabh sayv kamaanee.
He always remains engaged in the devotional worship of God,
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਣੈ ਕੀ ਏਹ ਨੀਸਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
har milnai kee ayh neesaanee. ||2||
and this is the sign that he has realized God. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਇਹੋ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਿਟੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਹੋਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
mitay janjaal ho-ay parabh da-i-aal.
Those on whom God becomes gracious, all their worldly entanglements end.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ;
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
gur kaa darsan daykh nihaal.
Beholding the sight of the Guru, they feel blissfully delighted.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਰਾ ਪੂਰਬਲਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਬਣਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
paraa poorbalaa karam ban aa-i-aa.
The good deeds of the past has become their destiny,
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਤ ਰਸਨਾ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
har kay gun nit rasnaa gaa-i-aa. ||3||
and now they always sing the praises of God with their tongue. ||3||
ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
har kay sant sadaa parvaan.
The Saints of God are always approved in His presence.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਵਾਣ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
sant janaa mastak neesaan.
Their foreheads always shine with divine light as if that is the sign of approval.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਨੂਰ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਦਾ) ਚਿਹਨ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਪਾਏ ਜੇ ਕੋਇ ॥
daas kee rayn paa-ay jay ko-ay.
If someone obtains the dust of the feet of such a devotee of God,
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩੫॥੪੬॥
naanak tis kee param gat ho-ay. ||4||35||46||
O’ Nanak! that person attains the supreme spiritual status. ||4||35||46||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੫॥੪੬॥

Raag Raamkalee, Fifth Guru:
ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
darsan ka-o jaa-ee-ai kurbaan.
We should dedicate ourselves to the sight of the Guru.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਰਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
charan kamal hirdai Dhar Dhi-aan.
We should lovingly remember God by enshrining the Guru’s word in our heart.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਰ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਧੂਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
Dhoor santan kee mastak laa-ay.
By applying the dust of the feet of the Saints to the forehead,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਰ,
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
janam janam kee durmat mal jaa-ay. ||1||
the evil intellect of many births is wiped out. ||1||
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
jis bhaytat mitai abhimaan.
Upon meeting the Guru and by following his teachings, one’s arrogance is erased,
ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm sabh nadree aavai kar kirpaa pooran bhagvaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and the supreme God becomes manifest everywhere; O’ the perfect God, show mercy and unite me with that Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
gur kee keerat japee-ai har naa-o.
Lovingly meditate on God’s Name is like praising the Guru
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ (ਕਰਨੀ)।
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
gur kee bhagat sadaa gun gaa-o.
Always singing praises of God is the worship of the Guru.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ- ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ!
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
gur kee surat nikat kar jaan.
To know that God is close at hand is the contemplation upon the Guru’s word.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਜਾਣ-ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
gur kaa sabad sat kar maan. ||2||
We should always accept the Guru’s word as eternal. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ) ਸੱਚਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੰਨ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਦੂਖ ॥
gur bachnee samsar sukh dookh.
The pain and pleasure feel equal through the Guru’s teachings,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਜਾਪਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਕਦੇ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ॥
kaday na bi-aapai tarisnaa bhookh.
and we are never afflicted with love for worldly riches and power again.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
man santokh sabad gur raajay.
Our mind becomes satiated by following the Guru’s word.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਨ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਪੜਦੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜੇ ॥੩॥
jap gobind parh-day sabh kaajay. ||3||
By meditating on God, all our faults remain covered. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੜਦੇ ਕੱਜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ॥
gur parmaysar gur govind.
The Guru is the embodiment of God, the master of the universe.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਇਆਲ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ॥
gur daataa da-i-aal bakhsind.
The Guru is the benefactor, merciful and forgiving.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
gur charnee jaa kaa man laagaa.
One whose mind gets attuned to the Guru’s immaculate word,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੭॥
naanak daas tis pooran bhaagaa. ||4||36||47||
O’ Nanak, that devotee’s destiny becomes perfect. ||4||36||47||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦਾਸ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੭॥
