ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਜਨੁ ਬਿਛੂਅ ਡਸਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
naam sunat jan bichhoo-a dasaanaa. ||2||
Upon hearing Naam, he behaves as if he has been stung by a scorpion. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਉਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਠੂੰਹਾਂ ਡੰਗ ਮਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੈ ॥
maa-i-aa kaaran sad hee jhoorai.
A faithless cynic always keeps worrying for Maya, the worldly wealth and power,
ਸਾਕਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥
man mukh kabeh na ustat karai.
he never sings the praises of God in his mind or even with his mouth.
ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
nirbha-o nirankaar daataar.
The beneficent God who is formless and has no fear of any kind,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਭਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਕਰੈ ਗਵਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
tis si-o pareet na karai gavaar. ||3||
the foolish faithless cynic does not fall in love with Him. ||3
||ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਸਾਕਤ ਕਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਸਭ ਸਾਹਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥
sabh saahaa sir saachaa saahu.
O’ God, You are the eternal King of all kings.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਸਭ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈਂ,
ਵੇਮੁਹਤਾਜੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥
vaymuhtaaj pooraa paatisaahu.
You are an independent and all powerful sovereign King.
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈਂ।
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਿਰਹ ॥
moh magan lapti-o bharam girah.
But a human being remains caught in the web of worldly attachments and the knot of doubt always remains tight in his mind.
ਜੀਵ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੀ ਗੰਢ ਬੱਝੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੀਐ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੩੨॥
naanak taree-ai tayree mihar. ||4||21||32||
O’ Nanak, say, O’ God! it is only by Your grace that we can swim across the worldly ocean of vices. ||4||21||32||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ- ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੩੨॥

Raag Raamkalee, Fifth Guru:
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਜਪਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥.

O’ God, bless me that, I may always keep remembering Your Name;
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ,
ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਉ ਥਾਉ ॥
aagai dargeh paava-o thaa-o.
and I may attain a place in Your presence.
(ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ।
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
sadaa anand na hovee sog.
One who meditates on Naam, is in bliss forever, never inflicted with any sorrow,
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀ;
ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥੧॥
kabhoo na bi-aapai ha-umai rog. ||1||
and the disease of ego never afflicts me. ||1||
ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਖੋਜਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
khojahu santahu har barahm gi-aanee.
O’ saints, search out the divinely wise persons who have realized God.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰੋ।
ਬਿਸਮਨ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bisman bisam bha-ay bismaadaa param gat paavahi har simar paraanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ mortal, always lovingly remember God; you will experience an amazingly wondrous divine state and will attain the supreme spiritual status. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ; ਬੜੀ ਹੀ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਇਗੀ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗਨਿ ਮਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਸਗਲ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
gan min daykhhu sagal beechaar.
O’ saints, carefully think any way you can,
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਸਾਰੇ ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ,
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਤਾਰਿ ॥
naam binaa ko sakai na taar.
(you would conclude that) without God’s Name, nothing can ferry you across the worldly ocean of vices.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵ ਨ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
sagal upaav na chaaleh sang.
(Except Naam), none of your efforts will be of any help in the end.
(ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਹੀਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ (ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ)।
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥
bhavjal taree-ai parabh kai rang. ||2||
One can swim across the world-ocean of vices only through God’s love. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਦੇਹੀ ਧੋਇ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
dayhee Dho-ay na utrai mail.
The filth of vices from the mind does not get removed by washing the body.
ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਤਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਫੈਲੁ ॥
ha-umai bi-aapai dubiDhaa fail.
Instead he is afflicted by more ego and he becomes double minded (hypocrite).
(ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ) ਹਉਮੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਪਸਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਖੰਡੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
har har a-ukhaDh jo jan khaa-ay.
One who lovingly remembers God as if he is taking the medicine of Naam,
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
taa kaa rog sagal mit jaa-ay. ||3||
all his afflictions are eradicated. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ (ਮਾਨਸਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
kar kirpaa paarbarahm da-i-aal.
O’ merciful, Supreme God, bestow mercy on me,
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ,
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ॥
man tay kabahu na bisar gopaal.
and never let my mind forget You,
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਵਿੱਸਰ।
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੩੩॥
tayray daas kee hovaa Dhoor. naanak kee parabh sarDhaa poor. ||4||22||33||
O’ God, please fulfill this desire of Nanak that I may remain as the humble servant of Your devotees. ||4||22||33||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੩੩॥

ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
tayree saran pooray gurdayv.
O’ my perfect divine-Guru, I have come to Your shelter.
ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਗੁਣ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tuDh bin doojaa naahee ko-ay.
Except for You, there is none other for support.
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਸਹਾਈ) ਨਹੀਂ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ)।
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
too samrath pooran paarbarahm.
You are the all-powerful and the perfect supreme God.
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹੈਂ।
ਸੋ ਧਿਆਏ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ॥੧॥
so Dhi-aa-ay pooraa jis karam. ||1||
He alone lovingly remembers You, upon whom is Your total grace.||1||
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥
ਤਰਣ ਤਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
taran taaran parabh tayro naa-o.
O’ God! Your Name is like a ship to ferry us across the worldly ocean of vices.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ।
ਏਕਾ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aykaa saran gahee man mayrai tuDh bin doojaa naahee thaa-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God! my mind has taken only Your support; except You, I have no other place to go for refuge. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਆਸਰੇ ਵਾਲੀ) ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
jap jap jeevaa tayraa naa-o.
O’ God, I remain spiritually rejuvenated by always remembering Your Name,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਇਥੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਉ ਠਾਉ ॥
aagai dargeh paava-o thaa-o.
and hereafter, I would receive a place in Your presence.
ਅਗਾਂਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ।
ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਰਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੨॥
dookh anDhayraa man tay jaa-ay. durmat binsai raachai har naa-ay. ||2||
O’ God, one who remains absorbed in Your Name, his evil intellect vanishes, and the sorrow and darkness of ignorance from his mind goes away. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸਦੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
charan kamal si-o laagee pareet.
Love for the immaculate Name of God welled up within me,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣ ਗਈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
gur pooray kee nirmal reet.
When I adopted the immaculate way of life, as taught by the perfect Guru,
ਜਦੋ ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ॥
bha-o bhaagaa nirbha-o man basai.
my fear has fled away and the fearless God has manifested in my mind,
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਡਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਿਤ ਜਪੈ ॥੩॥
amrit naam rasnaa nit japai. ||3||
and my tongue continually chants the ambrosial Naam. ||3||
ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਿੱਤ ਜਪਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਾਟੇ ਫਾਹੇ ॥
kot janam kay kaatay faahay.
The bonds of Maya of my millions of incarnations are cut away,
ਮੇਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
ਪਾਇਆ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਲਾਹੇ ॥
paa-i-aa laabh sachaa Dhan laahay.
and I have received the true wealth of Naam as profit.
ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ-ਨਫ਼ਾ ਖੱਟ ਲਇਆ ਹੈ l
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
tot na aavai akhut bhandaar.
The treasures of the inexhaustible wealth of Naam never runs out.
ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੩੪॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੩੪॥

ਰਤਨ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਨਾਮ ॥.
ratan javayhar naam
The Name of God is like the invaluable jewels and gems,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਰਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਹਰਾਤ ਹਨ,
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
sat santokh gi-aan.
truth, contentment and spiritual wisdom is attained by lovingly remembering God’s Name.
ਇਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚ, ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮਬੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਦਇਆ ਕਾ ਪੋਤਾ ॥
sookh sahj da-i-aa kaa potaa.
Naam is the treasure of inner peace, poise and compassion,
ਉਹ ਸੁਖ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਹਵਾਲੈ ਹੋਤਾ ॥੧॥
har bhagtaa havaalai hotaa. ||1||
but this treasure is entrusted to His devotees. ||1||
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਪੁਰਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥
mayray raam ko bhandaar.
Such is the God’s treasure of Naam,
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ)
ਖਾਤ ਖਰਚਿ ਕਛੁ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khaat kharach kachh tot na aavai ant nahee har paaraavaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that even after consuming and sharing, no shortage occurs in it; there is no limit or end to this treasure of God. ||1||Pause||
ਵਰਤਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਦਿਆਂ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕ ਹੀਰਾ ॥
keertan nirmolak heeraa.
The hymn of God’s praises is like a priceless diamond.
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਇੱਕ ਅਣਮੁੱਲਾ ਹੀਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਨੰਦ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥
aanand gunee gaheeraa.
It is like an unfathomable ocean of bliss and virtue.
ਇਹ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ॥
anhad banee poonjee.
The divine words of the Guru is an inestimable spiritual wealth,
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੇਅੰਦਾਜ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ,
ਸੰਤਨ ਹਥਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੂੰਜੀ ॥੨॥
santan hath raakhee koonjee. ||2||
but God has kept the key to this treasure in the hands of His saints. ||2||
(ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ) ਕੁੰਜੀ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
