ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
naanak gurmukh ubray saachaa naam samaal. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the Guru’s followers are saved from the spiritual death, by meditating on God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l

By the First Guru:
ਗਲੀ ਅਸੀ ਚੰਗੀਆ ਆਚਾਰੀ ਬੁਰੀਆਹ ॥
galeeN asee changee-aa aachaaree buree-aah.
We pose ourselves as virtuous in our talks, but we are evil in our conduct.
ਅਸੀਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਚੱਜੀਆਂ (ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ) ਆਚਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਨਹੁ ਕੁਸੁਧਾ ਕਾਲੀਆ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਚਿਟਵੀਆਹ ॥
manhu kusuDhaa kaalee-aa baahar chitvee-aah.
Our minds are impure and evil, but outwardly, we appear holy and saintly.
ਮਨੋਂ ਖੋਟੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਕਾਲੀਆਂ (ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ) ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੀਆਂ।
ਰੀਸਾ ਕਰਿਹ ਤਿਨਾੜੀਆ ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਦਰੁ ਖੜੀਆਹ ॥
reesaa karih tinaarhee-aa jo sayveh dar kharhee-aah.
We imitate those who are always ready to accept His command.
(ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਅਸੀਂ ਰੀਸਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਲਿ ਖਸਮੈ ਰਤੀਆ ਮਾਣਹਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਰਲੀਆਹ ॥
naal khasmai ratee-aa maaneh sukh ralee-aah.
They, who are attuned to the Love of their Divine Master, experience the pleasure of His Love.
ਖਸਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਰਲੀਆਂ ਮਾਣਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਹੋਦੈ ਤਾਣਿ ਨਿਤਾਣੀਆ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਮਾਨਣੀਆਹ ॥
hodai taan nitaanee-aa raheh nimaannee-aah.
In Spite of having power, they behave as powerless and humble.
ਜੋ ਤਾਣ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਕਾਰਥਾ ਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਹ ॥੨॥
naanak janam sakaarthaa jay tin kai sang milaah. ||2||
O’ Nanak, our lives can become worthwhile only if we associate with such Guru’s followers.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸਾਡਾ) ਜਨਮ ਸਫਲ (ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੀਏ l

Pauree:
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਜਲੁ ਮੀਨਾ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਲੁ ॥
tooN aapay jal meenaa hai aapay aapay hee aap jaal.
O’ God, this world is like a deep ocean in which You Yourself are water, You Yourself are the fish (humans) and You Yourself are the net (worldly attraction).
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮੱਛੀ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰੂਪ) ਜਲ ਹੈਂ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜਲ ਵਿਚ) ਮੱਛੀ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਲ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਲੁ ਵਤਾਇਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੇਬਾਲੁ ॥
tooN aapay jaal vataa-idaa aapay vich saybaal.
You Yourself spread the net of worldly attractions, and You Yourself are the bait (worldly attractions) in which the fish (humans) remain entangled.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਛਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਕਮਲੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਹੈ ਸੈ ਹਥਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਲਾਲੁ ॥
tooN aapay kamal alipat hai sai hathaa vich gulaal.
You Yourself are unaffected by the dirt of Maya (worldly desires), just as the beautiful lotus remains unaffected by murky water in which it grows.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਹੱਥ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਕੰਵਲ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਘੜੀ ਕਰਿ ਖਿਆਲੁ ॥
tooN aapay mukat karaa-idaa ik nimakh gharhee kar khi-aal.
You Yourself liberate those from the net of worldly attractions who think of You from their heart with love and devotion for even an instant.
(ਹੇ ਹਰੀ!) ਜੋ (ਜੀਵ) ਇਕ ਪਲਕ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੇ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਛੁਡਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਵੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥੭॥
har tuDhhu baahar kichh nahee gur sabdee vaykh nihaal. ||7||
O’ God, there is nothing beyond You. But it is only through the word of the Guru that one is able to feel blissful by realizing that you are pervading everywhere.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Shalok,by the Third Guru:
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਰੋਵੈ ॥
hukam na jaanai bahutaa rovai.
The one who, does not comprehend the command God, cries out bitterly.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਭਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਲਪਣਾ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ;
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧੋਖਾ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
andar Dhokhaa need na sovai.
She (the soul) is filled with deception, and she cannot sleep in peace.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੀ) ਨੀਂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੌਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ)।
ਜੇ ਧਨ ਖਸਮੈ ਚਲੈ ਰਜਾਈ ॥ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥
jay Dhan khasmai chalai rajaa-ee. dar ghar sobhaa mahal bulaa-ee.
But if the soul-bride leads her life according to the will of her Divine-Master God, she obtains honor both in this world and God’s court.
ਜੇ (ਜੀਵ-) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਖਸਮ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਮੀ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
naanak karmee ih mat paa-ee.
O’ Nanak, by His Mercy, this understanding is obtained.
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ (ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਹ) ਸਮਝ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
gur parsaadee sach samaa-ee. ||1||
By Guru’s Grace, she is merged into the True One.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਭਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਸਾਂਈ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

By the Third Guru:
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਭੁਲੁ ॥
manmukh naam vihooni-aa rang kasumbhaa daykh na bhul.
O self-willed manmukh, devoid of the Naam, do not be misled upon beholding the color of the safflower (transient worldly attractions),
ਹੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ! ਕਸੁੰਭੇ ਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਰੰਗ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੁਹਿਤ ਨਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾ,
ਇਸ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਦਿਨ ਥੋੜਿਆ ਛੋਛਾ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮੁਲੁ ॥
is kaa rang din thorhi-aa chhochhaa is daa mul.
these worldly attractions are short-lived and worthless like the color of the safflower.
ਇਸ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ (ਆਨੰਦ) ਥੋੜੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਭੀ ਤੁੱਛ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
doojai lagay pach mu-ay moorakh anDh gavaar.
Engrossed in duality, the foolish, spiritually blind and ignorant people waste away their life.
ਮੂਰਖ (ਅਕਲੋਂ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਤੇ ਮਤਿ-ਹੀਣ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕੀਟ ਸੇ ਪਇ ਪਚਹਿ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥
bistaa andar keet say pa-i pacheh vaaro vaar.
Like worms, they live in filth of vices, and in it they die over and over.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਿਸ਼ਟੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਕੀੜੇ ਵਿਲੂੰ ਵਿਲੂੰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਰੰਗੁਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
naanak naam ratay say rangulay gur kai sahj subhaa-ay.
O’ Nanak, they who are imbued with Naam are happy and they take on the intuitive peace and poise of the Guru.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਭਗਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
bhagtee rang na utrai sehjay rahai samaa-ay. ||2||
Their love and devotion to God doesn’t weaken, and they intuitively remain merged in Him.
ਸਹਜ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦਾ l

Pauree:
ਸਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਸਭ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਿਆ ॥
sisat upaa-ee sabh tuDh aapay rijak sambaahi-aa.
O’ God, You created the entire universe, and You Yourself bring sustenance to it.
(ਹੇ ਹਰੀ!) ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ (ਸਾਰਾ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ (ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਅਪੜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਇਕਿ ਵਲੁ ਛਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਖਾਵਦੇ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕੁਸਤੁ ਤਿਨੀ ਢਾਹਿਆ ॥
ik val chhal kar kai khaavday muhhu koorh kusat tinee dhaahi-aa.
Some sustain themselves through deceit and deception and utter all kinds of lies.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵ (ਤੈਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ਼ਕ ਨਾਹ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹੋਏ) ਵਲ-ਛਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਢਿੱਡ ਭਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਕੂੜ ਕੁਸੱਤ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਓਤੈ ਕੰਮਿ ਓਇ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
tuDh aapay bhaavai so karahi tuDh otai kamm o-ay laa-i-aa.
(O’ God) they only do what You have written in their fate. It is You who have assigned them to such tasks.
(ਹੇ ਹਰੀ!) ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਉਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਕੰਮ (ਵਲ-ਛਲ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਇਕਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਓਨੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਅਤੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਦੇਵਾਇਆ ॥
iknaa sach bujhaa-i-on tinaa atut bhandaar dayvaa-i-aa.
To some You have revealed the Truth (about righteous living). On them You have conferred the inexhaustible treasure of contentment.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੇ ਇਤਨੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਤੋਟ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ।
ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ਖਾਹਿ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਅਚੇਤਾ ਹਥ ਤਡਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
har chayt khaahi tinaa safal hai achaytaa hath tadaa-i-aa. ||8||
Prosperous is the life of Those who consume Your gifts while remembering You. But those who forsake God, are always discontent and keep begging.
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਸਦਾ ਅੱਡੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥

Shalok, by the Third Guru:
ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬੇਦ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਸੁਆਇ ॥
parh parh pandit bayd vakaaneh maa-i-aa moh su-aa-ay.
The Pandits extensively read and recite the Vedas for the love of Maya.
ਧੰਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ, ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮਣ ਵੇਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਾਚਦੇ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
doojai bhaa-ay har naam visaari-aa man moorakh milai sajaa-ay.
The one who forsakes God for the love of duality. Such self-willed fool receives punishment.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਜੋ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਿ ॥
jin jee-o pind ditaa tis kabahooN na chaytai jo dayNdaa rijak sambaahi.
He never think of the One who gave him the body and soul and who provides sustenance to all.
ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਯਾਦ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਪੁਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਮ ਕਾ ਫਾਹਾ ਗਲਹੁ ਨ ਕਟੀਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
jam kaa faahaa galhu na katee-ai fir fir aavai jaa-ay.
He is always fearful of death and remains in the cycles of birth and death.
ਜਮ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਲੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਕੱਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਉਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
manmukh kichhoo na soojhai anDhulay poorab likhi-aa kamaa-ay.
The spiritually blind, self-willed does not understand anything He does what he is preordained to do.
ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹੋ ਕੁਛ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
poorai bhaag satgur milai sukh-daata naam vasai man aa-ay.
Through perfect destiny, he meets the True Guru, the Giver of peace, and the Naam comes to dwell in his mind.
ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖ-ਦਾਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਣਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪੈਨਣਾ ਸੁਖੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
sukh maaneh sukh painnaa sukhay sukh vihaa-ay.
Such a person enjoys true bliss and spends entire life in happiness.
ਉਹ ਆਰਾਮ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਰਾਮ ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਗੁਜਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਨਾਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
naanak so naa-o manhu na visaaree-ai jit dar sachai sobhaa paa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, do not forget the Naam which brings honor in God’s court.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੁਲਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
