ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਈਆ ॥
sayj ayk ayko parabh thaakur mahal na paavai manmukh bharma-ee-aa.
Our soul and the Master-God dwell in the same one heart, but the self-willed person cannot realize His presence in the heart and keeps wandering around.
ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕੋ ਸੇਜ ’ਤੇ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਹ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਹੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਜੇ ਆਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਢੀਲ ਨ ਪਈਆ ॥੫॥
gur gur karat saran jay aavai parabh aa-ay milai khin dheel na pa-ee-aa. ||5||
If one surrenders to the Guru and follows his teachings, then God makes that person realize Him, without a moment’s delay. ||5||
ਜੇ ਉਹ ‘ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰੂ’ ਕਰਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੫॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆਚਾਰ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਪਟ ਲੋਭਈਆ ॥
kar kar kiri-aachaar vaDhaa-ay man pakhand karam kapat lobha-ee-aa.
If one keeps performing and multiplying faith rituals, then his mind remains filled with hypocrisy, deceit and greed;
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਤੀਰਥ-ਜਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ) ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡੀ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵਧਾਂਦਾ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਭ ਵਲ-ਛਲ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਕਰਮ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ;
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਬੇਟਾ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਈਆ ॥੬॥
baysu-aa kai ghar baytaa janmi-aa pitaa taahi ki-aa naam sada-ee-aa. ||6||
this person, without the Guru, is like a son born to a prostitute who is without father’s name. ||6||
ਬਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਜੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜੰਮ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੬॥
ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਮਈਆ ॥
poorab janam bhagat kar aa-ay gur har har har har bhagat jama-ee-aa.
Those who have the merit of devotional worship in the previous birth, the Guru has instilled within them the devotional worship of God.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਈਆ ॥੭॥
bhagat bhagat kartay har paa-i-aa jaa har har har har naam sama-ee-aa. ||7||
By always remembering God with adoration, when they realized God and then by repeatedly uttering His Name, they merged in Him. ||7||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੭॥
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਣਿ ਆਣਿ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਪੀਸਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੋਲਿ ਅੰਗਿ ਲਈਆ ॥
parabh aan aan mahindee peesaa-ee aapay ghol ghol ang la-ee-aa.
Just as a bride brings henna leaves and grinds them, she makes its paste and applies to her body parts; similarly God Himself engages one to His intense devotional worship and then unites him with His Name.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪੀਸਾਈ ਫਿਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਭਗਤੀ-ਰੂਪ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਘੋਲ ਘੋਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਲਿਆ (ਭਾਵ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ)।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਢਿ ਲਈਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੨॥੧॥੬॥੯॥
jin ka-o thaakur kirpaa Dhaaree baah pakar naanak kadh la-ee-aa. ||8||6||2||1||6||9||
O’ Nanak, those on whom God bestowed mercy, He extended His support and pulled them out of the worldly ocean of vices. ||8||6||9||2||1||6||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ) ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੨॥੧॥੬॥੯॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥
upmaa jaat na kahee mayray parabh kee upmaa jaat na kahee.
The praises of my God cannot be described; Yes, His praise cannot be described.
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, (ਕਿਸੇ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taj aan saran gahee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Abandoning all others, I have come to the refuge of God. ||1||Pause||
ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
parabh charan kamal apaar.
The infinite God’s Name is immaculate,
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ-
ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
ha-o jaa-o sad balihaar.
and I am always dedicated to that Name.
ਮੈਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥
man pareet laagee taahi.
O’ brother, those people whose mind is imbued with the love for God;
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
taj aan kateh na jaahi. ||1||
abandoning Him, they do not go anywhere else. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਨ ॥
har naam rasnaa kahan.
O’ my friends, by uttering God’s Name with our tongue,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨਾ-
ਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਕਲਮਲ ਦਹਨ ॥
mal paap kalmal dahan.
the filth of sins and evil deeds is burnt off.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਸਾੜਨ (ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦਾ) ਹੈ।
ਚੜਿ ਨਾਵ ਸੰਤ ਉਧਾਰਿ ॥
charh naav sant uDhaar.
Many people have been saved from vices by joining the company of saints and chanting God’s Name.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ‘ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਹਨ’ ਵਾਲੀ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਇਸ) ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਭੈ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
bhai taray saagar paar. ||2||
(Yes, by joining the company of true saints ang remembering God), they swim across the terrifying world-ocean of vices. ||2||
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਮਨਿ ਡੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥
man dor paraym pareet.
O’ brother, inculcate love for God in your mind,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ,
ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
ih sant nirmal reet.
this is the immaculate tradition of the saintly people.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਜਿ ਗਏ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
taj ga-ay paap bikaar.
Those who inculcate this habit give up sinful thoughts and evil deeds,
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
har milay parabh nirankaar. ||3||
and realize the formless God. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
parabh paykhee-ai bismaad.
O’ brother, the blessed vision of the astonishing God can be experienced,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸਚਰਜ-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ-
ਚਖਿ ਅਨਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਾਦ ॥
chakh anad pooran saad.
by relishing the elixir of the Name of God, the embodiment of total bliss
ਪੂਰਨ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ) ਦਾ ਸੁਆਸ ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਹ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਇਤ ਊਤ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੀਤ ॥੪॥
nah dolee-ai it oot. parabh basay har har cheet. ||4||
If God is always enshrined in the mind then one does not wander here and there. ||4||
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਧਰ-ਉਧਰ ਡਿਕ-ਡੋਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਹਿ ਨਰਕ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ ਨਿਤ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
tinH naahi narak nivaas. nit simar parabh guntaas.
O’ brother, those who always remember God, the treasure of virtues, do not dwell in hell (do not remain miserable in life).
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਰਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ।
ਤੇ ਜਮੁ ਨ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਨੈਨ ॥ ਸੁਨਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬੈਨ ॥੫॥
tay jam na paykheh nain. sun mohay anhat bain. ||5||
Those who remain fascinated by listening to the continuous melody of God’s praises, do not face the demon of death. ||5||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬੰਸਰੀ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ॥੫॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਗਤ ਵਸਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
har saran soor gupaal. parabh bhagat vas da-i-aal.
O’ brother, the devotees remain in the refuge of that brave God of the world, who is merciful and remains under the loving control of His devotees.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਗਤ ਉਸ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,ਜੋ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਗਮ ਲਹਹਿ ਨ ਭੇਵ ॥ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵ ॥੬॥
har nigam laheh na bhayv. nit karahi mun jan sayv. ||6||
All the sages daily engage in His devotional worship and read vedas, still they cannot find the mystery about God. ||6||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੇਦ ਪੜਦੇ ਹਣ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ,॥੬॥
ਦੁਖ ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੜੀ ਕਾਰ ॥
dukh deen darad nivaar. jaa kee mahaa bikh-rhee kaar.
O’ brother, God, whose devotional service is very difficult to perform, is the destroyer of the pains and sorrows of the meek.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖੀ ਹੈ।ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥
taa kee mit na jaanai ko-ay.jal thal mahee-al so-ay. ||7||
God who is pervading the water, the land and the sky, no one knows the limits of His virtues and power. ||7||
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੋ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ॥੭॥
ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਲਖ ਬਾਰ ॥ ਥਕਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰ ॥
kar bandnaa lakh baar. thak pari-o parabh darbaar.
O’ God, after getting completely exhausted of other places, I have come to You; I respectfully bow to You millions of times.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੋਰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ; ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੮॥੧॥
parabh karahu saaDhoo Dhoor. naanak mansaa poor. ||8||1||
O, Nanak! say, O’ God! fulfill this desire of mine and make me so humble as if I am the dust of the feet of Your saints. ||8||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ॥੮॥੧॥

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥ ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
parabh janam maran nivaar. haar pari-o du-aar.
O’ God, after getting tired of other means, I have come to Your refuge please release me from the cycle of birth and death.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਥੱਕ ਟੁਟ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਹ।
ਗਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ॥ ਮਨ ਮਿਸਟ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ॥
geh charan saaDhoo sang. man misat har har rang.
O’ God! joining the holy congregation, I have grasped onto Your immaculate Name; bestow mercy so that Your love may remain pleasing to my mind.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ ਕੇ,ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਕੜੇ ਹਨ (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਰਹੇ।
