ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ॥

O’ God! You are the all powerful cause of all causes,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ,
ਢਾਕਨ ਢਾਕਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਗੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਸਰਨ ਚਰਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhaakan dhaak gobid gur mayray mohi apraaDhee saran charan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my Divine-Guru! I, the sinner, have come to Your refuge, kindly cover my faults and sins. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਮੇਰਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਢੱਕ ਲੈ, ਮੈਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਠਉਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਢੀਠ ਮੁਕਰਨ ॥
jo jo keeno so tumH jaani-o paykhi-o tha-ur naahee kachh dheeth mukran.
O’ God, whatever I do, You know and see; there is no way I can stubbornly deny this.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਰਤੂਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਢੀਠ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਗੁੰਜੈਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਬਡ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰੋ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘਾ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਨ ॥੧॥
bad partaap suni-o parabh tumHro kot aghaa tayro naam haran. ||1||
O’ God! I have heard that You have great grandeur and millions of sins are destroyed by remembering Your Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਬੜੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਮਰੋ ਸਹਾਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਭੂਲਨ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰੋ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਰਨ ॥
hamro sahaa-o sadaa sad bhoolan tumHro birad patit uDhran.
O’ God! our nature is to always make mistakes, but Your natural tradition is to save sinners.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਨਿੱਤ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ। ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣਾ।
ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੧੮॥
karunaa mai kirpaal kirpaa niDh jeevan pad naanak har darsan. ||2||2||118||
O’ the treasure of mercy, compassionate God, grant Nanak with Your blessed vision which is capable of bestowing the supreme spiritual status. ||2||2||118||
ਹੇ ਤਰਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ! ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਹ, ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੧੮॥

ਐਸੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਰਹੁ ॥

O’ God! bless me with such mercy,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ,
ਸੰਤਹ ਚਰਣ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਮਾਥਾ ਨੈਨ ਦਰਸੁ ਤਨਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਪਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
santeh charan hamaaro maathaa nain daras tan Dhoor parahu. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that by always beholding the Guru’s vision and by following his teachings, my ego may vanish and I may become so humble (as if my forehead is at the Guru’s feet feet and the dust of his feet remains on my body). ||1||Pause||
ਕਿ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਪਈ ਰਵੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਬਾਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਮਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਰਹੁ ॥
gur ko sabad mayrai hee-arai baasai har naamaa man sang Dharahu.
O’ God, bless me that the Guru’s word may always remain enshrined in my heart, and please attune my mind to Your Name.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰੋ-) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਤਸਕਰ ਪੰਚ ਨਿਵਾਰਹੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਗਲੋ ਭਰਮਾ ਹੋਮਿ ਜਰਹੁ ॥੧॥
taskar panch nivaarahu thaakur saglo bharmaa hom jarahu. ||1||
O’ Master-God! drive out five demons (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego) from within me, and burn all my doubts as offerings in the fire. ||1||
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜੇ ਚੋਰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਹਵਨ ਦੀ ਧੂਪ ਸਾਮੱਗਰੀ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾ ਸਾੜ ਦੇ ॥੧॥
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ ਕਰਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਭਲ ਮਾਨੈ ਭਾਵਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਟਰਹੁ ॥
jo tumH karahu so-ee bhal maanai bhaavan dubiDhaa door tarahu.
O’ God, whatever You do, I may deem it as the best for me and drive out my love for the sense of duality from my mind.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਮੰਨੇ। ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਤਕਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਣਾ ਕੱਢ ਦੇ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਦਾਤੇ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਲੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਧਰਹੁ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੧੯॥
naanak kay parabh tum hee daatay satsang lay mohi uDhrahu. ||2||3||119||
O’ God, You alone are the benefactor of me, the Nanak, save me from the vices by keeping me in the company of the Guru. ||2||3||119||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਤਸਕਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੧੯॥

ਐਸੀ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਮੰਗਾ ॥

O’ God! I ask for such a teaching from Your devotees,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰੋ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੋ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
tumHro Dhi-aan tumHaaro rangaa.
that I may remain attuned to You and remain imbued with Your love,
ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ)।
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ਅੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumHree sayvaa tumHaaray angaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and I may remain engaged in Your devotional worship and be always in Your presence. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਸੰਭਾਖਨੁ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਊਠਨੁ ਬੈਠਨੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
jan kee tahal sambhaakhan jan si-o oothan baithan jan kai sangaa.
I may perform humble service of Your devotees, have an intimate conversation with Your devotees, and I may always associate with Your devotees.
ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੋਲ-ਚਾਲ ਰਹੇ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮੇਲ-ਜੋਲ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ।
ਜਨ ਚਰ ਰਜ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਥੈ ਲਾਗੀ ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਨੰਤ ਤਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥
jan char raj mukh maathai laagee aasaa pooran anant tarangaa. ||1||
I may become so humble as if the dust of the feet of Your devotee is always applied on my face and forehead; it fulfills innumerable hopes and desires. ||1||
ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ-ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਰਹੇ-ਇਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਉਮੀਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਕੋਟਿ ਗੰਗਾ ॥
jan paarbarahm jaa kee nirmal mahimaa jan kay charan tirath kot gangaa.
Immaculate is the glory of the supreme God’s devotees; their humble service is equal to millions of pilgrimage and ablutions in the holy river Ganges.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਐਸੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਦਾਗ਼-ਹੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਗੰਗਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਕੀਓ ਮਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਹਰੇ ਕਲੰਗਾ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੨੦॥
jan kee Dhoor kee-o majan naanak janam janam kay haray kalangaa. ||2||4||120||
O’ Nanak, the sins of many births of the one, who has humbly served and followed the teachings of God’s devotees, are washed off. ||2||4||120||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੨੦॥

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥

O’ God! cherish me as You please.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ, ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm parmaysar satgur ham baarik tumH pitaa kirpaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O Supreme, Transcendent and divine Guru, I am Your child, and You are my merciful father. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ! ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵ) ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੁਸੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਰੀ ਘਾਲ ॥
mohi nirgun gun naahee ko-ee pahuch na saaka-o tumHree ghaal.
O’ God, I the unvirtuous, one have no virtue; I cannot estimate the worth of Your effort in sustaining us.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ (ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ)।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮਰੋ ਮਾਲ ॥੧॥
tumree gat mit tum hee jaanhu jee-o pind sabh tumro maal. ||1||
You alone know Your state and extent, this soul, body and everything of the mortals is Your property. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ-ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਨਬੋਲਤ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਹਾਲ ॥
antarjaamee purakh su-aamee anbolat hee jaanhu haal.
O’ the all pervading omniscient God! You know even what is unspoken.
ਹੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਮਾਲਕ! ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਹਾਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੨੧॥
tan man seetal ho-ay hamaaro naanak parabh jee-o nadar nihaal. ||2||5||121||
Nanak says: O’ reverend God, bless me with the glance of Your grace, so that my body and mind may become tranquil. ||2||5||121||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਲ ਤੱਕ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੨੧॥

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਤੂ ਹਮਰੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਨਮੋਹਨੁ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਥ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
too hamro pareetam manmohan tujh bin jeevan sagal akaath. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, You are our enticing beloved God; without You our entire life is totally useless. ||1||Pause||
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੱਚ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰੰਕ ਤੇ ਰਾਉ ਕਰਤ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੋ ਅਨਾਥ ਕੋ ਨਾਥ ॥
rank tay raa-o karat khin bheetar parabh mayro anaath ko naath.
My God is the support of the supportless; He turns a beggar into a king in an instant.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਖਸਮਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ, ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਤ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਜਨ ਆਪਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਹਾਥ ॥੧॥
jalat agan meh jan aap uDhaaray kar apunay day raakhay haath. ||1||
He saves His devotees from the fire of the intense worldly desires by extending His support. ||1||
(ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੀਤਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਮਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸ੍ਰਮ ਸਗਲੇ ਲਾਥ ॥
seetal sukh paa-i-o man tariptai har simrat saram saglay laath.
All struggles end, the mind becomes satiated from the love for Maya and celestial peace is received by remembering God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਨਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਥ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੨੨॥
niDh niDhaan naanak har sayvaa avar si-aanap sagal akaath. ||2||6||122||
O’ Nanak, God’s devotional worship is the treasure of all treasures; all other cleverness is useless. ||2||6||122||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੨੨॥
