ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੧੦੮॥
naanak saran pari-o dukh bhanjan antar baahar paykh hajooray. ||2||22||108||
O’ Nanak, he remains in the refuge of God, the destroyer of sorrows, and beholds Him both within himself and outside in nature. ||2||22||108||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨੨॥੧੦੮॥

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਤ ਦੋਖ ਨਸੇ ॥
darsan daykhat dokh nasay.
O’ God, beholding Your blessed vision all the sins of people vanish.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਜੀਅ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kabahu na hovhu darisat agochar jee-a kai sang basay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God! never be out of my sight and always remain with my soul. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਤੋਂ ਉਹਲੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੋ, ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
pareetam paraan aDhaar su-aamee.
My beloved Master-God is the support of all life.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੧॥
poor rahay parabh antarjaamee. ||1||
God is omniscient and is pervading in all. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥
ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥
ki-aa gun tayray saar samHaaree.
O’ God, which of Your virtues may I contemplate and keep in mind?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਵਾਂ?
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਚਿਤਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
saas saas parabh tujheh chitaaree. ||2||
O’ God! I wish that, I may remember You with each and every breath. ||2||.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
kirpaa niDh parabh deen da-i-aalaa.
O’ the treasure of kindness, merciful God of the meek,
ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਹੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
jee-a jant kee karahu partipaalaa. ||3||
You cherish all creatures and beings. ||3||
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੩॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਪੇ ॥
aath pahar tayraa naam jan jaapay.
O’ God! Your devotee always keeps remembering Your Name with adoration.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੧੦੯॥
naanak pareet laa-ee parabh aapay. ||4||23||109||
O’ Nanak, God Himself has inspired the love for Him. ||4||23||109||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਲਗਨ ਲਾਈ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੧੦੯॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਚਲਤ ਗਇਆ ॥
tan Dhan joban chalat ga-i-aa.
O’ brother, one’s body, wealth, and youth are all slowly passing by,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਧਨ, ਜਵਾਨੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਹੀ) ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਭਜਨੁ ਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਿਸਿ ਭੋਰੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam kaa bhajan na keeno karat bikaar nis bhor bha-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
one does not remember God and his life goes from Youth to old age while committing evil deeds. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਰਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਦਿਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਮਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਨਿਤ ਖਾਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਦੰਤਾ ਘਸਿ ਖੀਨ ਖਇਆ ॥
anik parkaar bhojan nit khaatay mukh dantaa ghas kheen kha-i-aa.
Eating all sorts of foods everyday, the teeth in one’s mouth become worn out, weak and fall out.
ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਦੰਦ ਭੀ ਘਸ ਕੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੂਠਉ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਤ ਨਹ ਪਰੀ ਦਇਆ ॥੧॥
mayree mayree kar kar mooth-o paap karat nah paree da-i-aa. ||1||
In the ego of possessiveness, one is cheated of his spiritual wealth; the feeling of compassion does not arise in his heart while committing sins.||1||
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਲੁਟਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਇਆ-ਤਰਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਘੋਰ ਦੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਗਲਤੁ ਪਇਆ ॥
mahaa bikaar ghor dukh saagar tis meh paraanee galat pa-i-aa.
This world is like an ocean of great sins and terrible sorrows; the mortal is spiritually deteriorating while remaining engrossed in this ocean.
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਗਰਕਦਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੨॥੨੪॥੧੧੦॥
saran paray naanak su-aamee kee baah pakar parabh kaadh la-i-aa. ||2||24||110||
O’ Nanak, those who come to the refuge of the Master-God, He pulled them out of the world-ocean of sins by extending His support. ||2||24||110||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ, ॥੨॥੨੪॥੧੧੦॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਆਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇਆ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
aapnaa parabh aa-i-aa cheet.
One who realizes his God dwelling in his heart,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੁਸਮਨ ਦੁਸਟ ਰਹੇ ਝਖ ਮਾਰਤ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਭਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dusman dusat rahay jhakh maarat kusal bha-i-aa mayray bhaa-ee meet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
he always remains blissful; even though his enemies, the evil doers, get tired of making vain attempts to harm him, O’ my brothers and friends. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਭੈੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਅਪੜਾਣ ਦੇ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗਈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਉਪਾਧਿ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੀ ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਓ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
ga-ee bi-aaDh upaaDh sabh naasee angeekaar kee-o kartaar.
When the Creator-God accepted someone as His own and helped him, all his afflictions and misfortunes fled away.
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਜਦੋਂ ਭੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ) ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ,ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ l
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੂਖ ਅਰੁ ਅਨਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਉਰ ਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
saaNt sookh ar anad ghanayray pareetam naam ridai ur haar. ||1||
He received all kinds of comforts, tranquility and immense bliss by enshrining God’s Name in his heart. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਸੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
jee-o pind Dhan raas parabh tayree tooN samrath su-aamee mayraa.
O’ God! this body, soul and wealth is bestowed by You, and You are my all powerful Master.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ, ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਇਹ ਧਨ-ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ।
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਚੇਰਾ ॥੨॥੨੫॥੧੧੧॥
daas apunay ka-o raakhanhaaraa naanak daas sadaa hai chayraa. ||2||25||111||
O’ God! You are the savior of Your devotees from vices and devotee Nanak is forever Your disciple. ||2||25||111||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ) ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥੨੫॥੧੧੧॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹੋਆ ਕਲਿਆਣੁ ॥
gobid simar ho-aa kali-aan.
One gets liberated from the vices by lovingly remembering God, the Master of the Universe.
ਸ਼੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਰਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਮਿਟੀ ਉਪਾਧਿ ਭਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mitee upaaDh bha-i-aa sukh saachaa antarjaamee simri-aa jaan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who remembers the omniscient God, all his afflictions vanish and celestial peace wells up in his heart. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਉਸਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚ ਆਰਾਮ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋ ਆਇਆ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਾਚਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
jis kay jee-a tin kee-ay sukhaalay bhagat janaa ka-o saachaa taan.
God to whom all beings belong has made them comfortable, He is the eternal support of His devotees.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਹਨ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਖੀ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਮਾਣੁ ॥੧॥
daas apunay kee aapay raakhee bhai bhanjan oopar kartay maan. ||1||
He Himself saves the honor of His devotees; they always take pride in the destroyer of all fears. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਗਤ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਭਈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਈ ਮਿਟੀ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਦ੍ਰੁਸਟ ਦੂਤ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਢੇ ਛਾਣਿ ॥
bha-ee mitraa-ee mitee buraa-ee darusat doot har kaadhay chhaan.
God purges out all villains and enemies of His devotee, all his hatred is eradicated and he develops friendship with all.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵੈਰ ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਹ ਵਖਾਣਿ ॥੨॥੨੬॥੧੧੨॥
sookh sahj aanand ghanayray naanak jeevai har gunah vakhaan. ||2||26||112||
O’ Nanak, there is always peace, poise, and immense bliss in that devotee’s mind and he spiritually rejuvenates by chanting God’s praises. ||2||26||112||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨੬॥੧੧੨॥

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥
paarbarahm parabh bha-ay kirpaal.
Those on whom the Supreme God becomes Merciful,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaaraj sagal savaaray satgur jap jap saaDhoo bha-ay nihaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The True Guru accomplishes all their tasks; His saints remain delighted by always lovingly remembering God. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਚਿਤਾਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਦੋਖੀ ਸਗਲੇ ਭਏ ਰਵਾਲ ॥
angeekaar kee-aa parabh apnai dokhee saglay bha-ay ravaal.
All the enemies of those, whom God made His own, were reduced to dust.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ (ਵੈਰ-ਭਾਵ ਚਿਤਵਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਗਏ)।
ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਉਧਰਿ ਲੀਏ ਲਾਇ ਅਪਨੈ ਪਾਲ ॥੧॥
kanth laa-ay raakhay jan apnay uDhar lee-ay laa-ay apnai paal. ||1||
God protects His devotees by keeping them extremely close to Him; He saves them from vices by attuning them to His Name. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ) ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਦੋਖੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
