ਅਗਨਤ ਗੁਣ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ॥

O’ my Master-God, Your virtues are unaccountable.
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
mohi anaath tumree sarnaa-ee.
I am totally helpless and have come to Your refuge.
ਮੈਂ ਅਨਾਥ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
kar kirpaa har charan Dhi-aa-ee. ||1||
O’ God, bestow mercy on me, so that I may keep meditating on Your Name. ||1||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਸਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
da-i-aa karahu bashu man aa-ay.
O’ God, bestow mercy and make me realize You dwelling in my mind,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸ।
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਲੀਜੈ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mohi nirgun leejai larh laa-ay. rahaa-o.
and attach me, the unvirtuous one, with Your Name. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਲੈ ll ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾ ਕੈਸੀ ਭੀੜ ॥
parabh chit aavai taa kaisee bheerh.
If one remembers God in one’s mind, then he does not experience any trouble.
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਰੇ , ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮ ਪੀੜ ॥
har sayvak naahee jam peerh.
God’s devotee does not suffer from the fear of the demon of death.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਡਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਰਬ ਦੂਖ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਸੇ ॥
sarab dookh har simrat nasay.
By meditating on God, all troubles of that person hasten away,
ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਸੈ ॥੨॥
jaa kai sang sadaa parabh basai. ||2||
who experiences God dwelling with him forever. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
parabh kaa naam man tan aaDhaar.
God’s Name is the only spiritual support of body and mind.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਸਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਵਤ ਤਨੁ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
bisrat naam hovat tan chhaar.
Upon forsaking Naam, the body becomes so weak spiritually, as if it has been reduced to ashes.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁੱਲਿਆਂ ਸਰੀਰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸੁਆਹ (ਦੀ ਢੇਰੀ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਕਾਜ ॥
parabh chit aa-ay pooran sabh kaaj.
One who realizes God dwelling in the mind, all his tasks are accomplished.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਭ ਕਾ ਮੁਹਤਾਜ ॥੩॥
har bisrat sabh kaa muhtaaj. ||3||
However, forsaking God, one becomes subservient to all. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁੱਲਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਿਰ ਧਿਰ ਦਾ ਅਰਥੀਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
charan kamal sang laagee pareet.
One who gets attuned to the immaculate Name of God,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਿਸਰਿ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
bisar ga-ee sabh durmat reet.
he forsakes all the evil ways of life.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਰਾ (ਜੀਵਨ) ਰਵਈਆ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਤ ॥
man tan antar har har mant.
Those in whose mind and body is enshrined the mantra of God’s Name,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥੪॥੩॥
naanak bhagtan kai ghar sadaa anand. ||4||3||
O’ Nanak, the hearts of those devotees of God are always in a state of bliss. ||4||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥

ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥
mai man tayree tayk mayray pi-aaray mai man tayree tayk.
O’ dear God, Yours is the only support my mind has. Yes, it is only Your support my mind depends on.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਇਕ) ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਬਿਰਥੀਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਏਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar si-aanpaa birthee-aa pi-aaray raakhan ka-o tum ayk. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ dear God, all other clever ideas are useless, it is You alone who can save us. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥
satgur pooraa jay milai pi-aaray so jan hot nihaalaa.
O’ dear, one, who meets with and follows the perfect true Guru, becomes delighted.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
gur kee sayvaa so karay pi-aaray jis no ho-ay da-i-aalaa.
But the person who serves the Guru by following His teachings, is the one on whom God is merciful.
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
safal moorat gurday-o su-aamee sarab kalaa bharpooray.
Accredited is the form of the divine Guru; He is all- powerful.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੧॥
naanak gur paarbarahm parmaysar sadaa sadaa hajooray. ||1||
O Nanak, the Guru is embodiment of the supreme God who always remains close to His devotees. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ। (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੋਇ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
sun sun jeevaa so-ay tinaa kee jinH apunaa parabh jaataa.
I am spiritually rejuvenated hearing again and again about the glory of those who have realized their God.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
har naam araaDheh naam vakaaneh har naamay hee man raataa.
Those people always recite and meditate on God’s Name; their minds always remain imbued with the love of God’s Name.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਾਗੈ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਕਮਾਵਾ ॥
sayvak jan kee sayvaa maagai poorai karam kamaavaa.
O’ God, Your devotee asks for the service of Your devotees; I can perform such humble service only through Your perfect grace.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਣੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੨॥
naanak kee baynantee su-aamee tayray jan daykhan paavaa. ||2||
O’ my Master-God, this is the prayer of Nanak, that I may be blessed with the vision of Your devotees. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ, (-ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇ ਕਾਢੀਅਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਵਾਸੋ ॥
vadbhaagee say kaadhee-ah pi-aaray santsangat jinaa vaaso.
O’dear, they who dwell in the company of the saints, are said to be the fortunate ones.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹਿਣ-ਖਲੋਣ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਖੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸੋ ॥
amrit naam araaDhee-ai nirmal manai hovai pargaaso.
By remembering the ambrosial Naam in the company of saints, the mind becomes immaculate and enlightened with spiritual wisdom.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਣੇ ॥
janam maran dukh kaatee-ai pi-aaray chookai jam kee kaanay.
O my friend, by being in the society of the saints, the sorrows of entire life, from birth to death, are eradicated and the fear of the demon of death ends.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਧੌਂਸ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨਾ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਣੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
tinaa paraapat darsan naanak jo parabh apnay bhaanay. ||3||
O’ Nanak, only those who are pleasing to their God, receive the blessed vision of the saints. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਨਸੀਬ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
ooch apaar bay-ant su-aamee ka-un jaanai gun tayray.
O’ the highest of the high, indescribable and infinite Master-God, who can know the extent of Your virtues?
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ, ਅਪਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਗੁਣ ਕੌਣ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਗਾਵਤੇ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਸੁਣਤੇ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
gaavtay uDhrahi suntay uDhrahi binsahi paap ghanayray.
Those who sing and listen to Your praises, are saved from vices and a multitude of their sins are erased.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਉ ਤਾਰੇ ਪਾਹਨ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥
pasoo parayt mugaDh ka-o taaray paahan paar utaarai.
God ferries across the world ocean of vices even those who are foolish, have animal like instincts, are devilish and uncompassionate.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਸ਼ੂ-ਸੁਭਾਵ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬੜੇ ਬੜੇ ਕਠੋਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥
naanak daas tayree sarnaa-ee sadaa sadaa balihaarai. ||4||1||4||
O’ Nanak, Your devotees always remain in Your refuge and are always dedicated to You. ||4||1||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥

Raag Bilaaval, Fifth Guru:
ਬਿਖੈ ਬਨੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਰੀ ਸਖੀਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਓ ॥
bikhai ban feekaa ti-aag ree sakhee-ay naam mahaa ras pee-o.
O’ my friend, renounce the insipid water of the worldly false pleasures which is poison for the spiritual life; instead partake the sublime nectar the Naam.
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੇ-ਸੁਆਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ (ਪੀਣਾ) ਛੱਡ ਦੇ। ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਆ ਕਰ,।
ਬਿਨੁ ਰਸ ਚਾਖੇ ਬੁਡਿ ਗਈ ਸਗਲੀ ਸੁਖੀ ਨ ਹੋਵਤ ਜੀਓ ॥
bin ras chaakhay bud ga-ee saglee sukhee na hovat jee-o.
By not tasting the nectar of Naam, the entire world is drowning in the vices and yet the soul does not find peace.
ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਹ ਚੱਖਣ ਕਰਕੇ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਜਿੰਦ ਸੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਨ ਸਕਤਿ ਹੀ ਕਾਈ ਸਾਧਾ ਦਾਸੀ ਥੀਓ ॥
maan mahat na sakat hee kaa-ee saaDhaa daasee thee-o.
High status or worldly power are of no help for receiving the Nectar of Naam; for that, you need to remain as the humble servant of the holy saints.
ਕੋਈ (ਹੋਰ) ਆਸਰਾ, ਕੋਈ ਵਡੱਪਣ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਕਤ (ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਧਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੇ)। ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! (ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੁ।
