ਖਾਤ ਖਰਚਤ ਬਿਲਛਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਵਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
khaat kharchat bilchhat sukh paa-i-aa kartay kee daat savaa-ee raam.
They enjoy spiritual peace while using and sharing the gift of Naam; this gift bestowed by the Creator-God keeps multiplying.
ਇਸ ਨਾਮ- ਦਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਵੰਡਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਮਾਣਦਿਆਂ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਵਧਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਤਿ ਸਵਾਈ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
daat savaa-ee nikhut na jaa-ee antarjaamee paa-i-aa.
Yes, this gift of Naam keeps multiplying and never gets exhausted; through this,they realize God who is omniscient.
ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਵਧਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸ ਦਾਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਘਨ ਸਗਲੇ ਉਠਿ ਨਾਠੇ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਨੇੜੈ ਆਇਆ ॥
kot bighan saglay uth naathay dookh na nayrhai aa-i-aa.
Millions of obstacles from their lives vanish and no sorrow comes near them.
ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ।
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਭੂਖ ਸਬਾਈ ॥
saaNt sahj aanand ghanayray binsee bhookh sabaa-ee.
Tranquility, celestial peace, poise and bliss in abundance prevails and all their hunger for worldly riches and power disappears.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਠੰਢ ਵਰਤੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੇ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥
naanak gun gaavahi su-aamee kay achraj jis vadi-aa-ee raam. ||2||
O’ Nanak, they sing the praises of that Master-God, amazing is whose glory. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਅਦਭੁੱਤ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਮਾਣਸੁ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
jis kaa kaaraj tin hee kee-aa maanas ki-aa vaychaaraa raam.
God, whose task it is to unite saintly people with Himself has accomplished it; what can the mere mortal beings do?
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨਾ-ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
bhagat sohan har kay gun gaavahi sadaa karahi jaikaaraa raam
God’s devotees acquire righteous living by always singing His praises and paying ovation to Him.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅਨਦ ਉਪਜੇ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਨੀ ॥
gun gaa-ay gobind anad upjay saaDhsangat sang banee.
Bliss wells up within them by singing the praises of God; they remain imbued with God’s love by staying in the company of saintly people.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ) ਆਨੰਦ (ਦੇ ਹੁਲਾਰੇ) ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨਾਲ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ) ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਉਦਮੁ ਕੀਆ ਤਾਲ ਕੇਰਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਿਆ ਗਨੀ ॥
jin udam kee-aa taal kayraa tis kee upmaa ki-aa ganee.
That God who made the effort to fill the pool like hearts of saintly people with the ambrosial nectar of Naam, how can His praises be counted?
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ- ਤਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਭਰਨ ਦਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਸਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗਿਣੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਪੁੰਨ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਚਾਰਾ ॥
athsath tirath punn kiri-aa mahaa nirmal chaaraa.
The hearts of a saintly persons filled with the ambrosial nectar of Naam represent all the sacred shrines, charity, good deeds and immaculate lifestyle.
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਮ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਇਸ ਸੰਤ-ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪੁੰਨ-ਕਰਮ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
patit paavan birad su-aamee naanak sabad aDhaaraa. ||3||
O’ Nanak, to purify the sinners by providing the support of the Guru’s divine word is the disposition of the Master-God from the very beginning. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ (ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ-ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਉਨੁ ਕਰੀਜੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
gun niDhaan mayraa parabh kartaa ustat ka-un kareejai raam.
My Creator-God is the treasure of virtues; who can fully describe His praises?
ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ। ਕੌਣ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਸੰਤਾ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
santaa kee baynantee su-aamee naam mahaa ras deejai raam.
The prayer of saintly people is, O Master-God, please bless us with the supreme, sublime essence of Your Name.
ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਇਹ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਦਲਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖ;
ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਇਕ ਖਿਨੋ ॥
naam deejai daan keejai bisar naahee ik khino.
Yes, please bless us with Your Name, and give us this gift that we do not forget You even for even an instant.
ਇਹ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖ, ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਸਾਡੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲ।
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਉਚਰੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਈਐ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ ॥
gun gopaal uchar rasnaa sadaa gaa-ee-ai andino.
O’ my tongue keep uttering God’s praises and always keep singing His praises.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭਾ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫਤਾਂ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੁ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਨਾਮ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭੀਜੈ ॥
jis pareet laagee naam saytee man tan amrit bheejai.
One who develops love for Naam, his mind and body remains imbued with rejuvenating ambrosial nectar of Naam.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਤਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਜੀਜੈ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦॥
binvant naanak ichh punnee paykh darsan jeejai. ||4||7||10||
Nanak submits, one feels spiritually rejuvenated by experiencing the blessed vision of God and his desires get fulfilled. ||4||7||10||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਠ ਬੋਲੜਾ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੋਰਾ ॥
mith bolrhaa jee har sajan su-aamee moraa.
O’ brother, God is my friend and master; His divine words are very sweet.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
ਹਉ ਸੰਮਲਿ ਥਕੀ ਜੀ ਓਹੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਬੋਲੈ ਕਉਰਾ ॥
ha-o sammal thakee jee oh kaday na bolai ka-uraa.
I have grown weary trying to think, if His divine words ever were unpleasant.
ਮੈਂ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕਦੇ ਕੌੜਾ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਯਾਦ ਆ ਜਾਏ, ਪਰ) ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੌੜਾ ਬੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ।
ਕਉੜਾ ਬੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ ਅਉਗਣੁ ਕੋ ਨ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ॥
ka-urhaa bol na jaanai pooran bhagvaanai a-ugan ko na chitaaray.
The perfect God does not have any unpleasantness because He never remembers anyone’s evil deeds or demerits.
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਕੌੜਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਡਾ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਔਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ।
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਦਾਏ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਭੰਨੈ ਘਾਲੇ ॥
patit paavan har birad sadaa-ay ik til nahee bhannai ghaalay.
By innate tradition, God is called a purifier of sinners; He does not let go waste even an iota of anyone’s hard work of devotional worship.
ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਭੀ) ਕੀਤੀ ਘਾਲ-ਕਮਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ।
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਵਾਸੀ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਨੇਰੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
ghat ghat vaasee sarab nivaasee nayrai hee tay nayraa.
That all pervading God dwells in each and every heart; He is always the nearest of the near.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਜਣੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੧॥
naanak daas sadaa sarnaagat har amrit sajan mayraa. ||1||
Devotee Nanak is in His refuge forever; My dear God is my ambrosial nectar. ||1||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਮਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਉ ਬਿਸਮੁ ਭਈ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
ha-o bisam bha-ee jee har darsan daykh apaaraa.
I am totally astounded on experiencing the blessed vision of the infinite God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਪਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀ ਹਉ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪਗ ਛਾਰਾ ॥
mayraa sundar su-aamee jee ha-o charan kamal pag chhaaraa.
So beauteous is my beloved Master that I feel myself like the dust of His feet.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹਾਂ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਤ ਜੀਵਾ ਠੰਢੀ ਥੀਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
parabh paykhat jeevaa thadhee theevaa tis jayvad avar na ko-ee.
Upon experiencing the blessed vision of God, I become spiritually rejuvenated and calm; no one else is as great as He is.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਿੰਦ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਜਿੱਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
aad ant maDh parabh ravi-aa jal thal mahee-al so-ee.
God has been pervading at the beginning of time, is present now and would be at the very end; He permeates the waters, lands, and the skies.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹੀ ਸੀ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ। ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਉਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਪਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਭਵਜਲ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਾ ॥

The world ocean of vices can be crossed by lovingly remembering God’s Name; by doing so, a myriad of people have crossed over the world ocean of vices.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
naanak saran pooran parmaysur tayraa ant na paaraavaaraa. ||2||
O’ perfect all pervading God, Nanak has come to Your refuge, there is no end or limit of Your creation. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ! ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ , ਤੇਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਉਰਲਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਉ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਛੋਡਾ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੋ ॥
ha-o nimakh na chhodaa jee har pareetam paraan aDhaaro.
I shall not forsake, even for an instant, dear beloved God, the support of life.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਹਰੀ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਾਂਗਾ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਹਿਆ ਜੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥
gur satgur kahi-aa jee saachaa agam beechaaro.
The true Guru has blessed me with the teaching for realizing the eternal incomprehensible God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀਨਾ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੀਨਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ॥
mil saaDhoo deenaa taa naam leenaa janam maran dukh naathay.
After meeting and following the Guru’s teachings, the gift of Naam is received through the Guru; only then one can meditate on God and all sorrows, from birth to death, vanish.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਤਿ) ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਮਰਨ ਤਕ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਹਜ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਨਠੀ ਗਾਠੇ ॥
sahj sookh aanand ghanayray ha-umai binthee gaathay.
Then one enjoys celestial peace, poise, and myriads of pleasures, and the knot of one’s ego is destroyed.
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਗੰਢ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
