ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਧਾਰੇ ਤਜੇ ਬਿਕਾਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥
mitay anDhaaray tajay bikaaray thaakur si-o man maanaa.
The soul-bride whose mind is appeased with the Master-God, renounces vices and the darkness of her spiritual ignorance goes away.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਗਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਭਾਣੀ ਭਈ ਨਿਕਾਣੀ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
parabh jee bhaanee bha-ee nikaanee safal janam parvaanaa.
The soul-bride who becomes pleasing to God, becomes independent of worldly attachments; her human life becomes fruitful and approved in God’s presence.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਭਈ ਅਮੋਲੀ ਭਾਰਾ ਤੋਲੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦਰੁ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥
bha-ee amolee bhaaraa tolee mukat jugat dar kholHaa.
Her life becomes invaluable and full of virtues, the path to liberation from vices and righteous living becomes very clear to her.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਭਾਰੇ ਤੋਲ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਓਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥
kaho naanak ha-o nirbha-o ho-ee so parabh mayraa olHaa. ||4||1||4||
Nanak says, I have become fearless of the worldly evils since God has become my support. ||4||1||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥

Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru:
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
saajan purakh satgur mayraa pooraa tis bin avar na jaanaa raam.
My perfect true Guru is my best friend, except for him I don’t know anyone else (who could bless me with divine understanding).
ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਸਲ ਸੱਜਣ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ (ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੇ ਸਕੇ)।
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
maat pitaa bhaa-ee sut banDhap jee-a paraan man bhaanaa raam.
The Guru seems loving to my mind, like my mother, father, brother, son, kin, and my life breath.
ਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਉਂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਸਨਬੰਧੀ, ਜਿੰਦ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੀਆ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣਾ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
jee-o pind sabh tis kaa dee-aa sarab gunaa bharpooray.
The body and soul are God’s blessings; He is full of all kinds of virtues.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥
antarjaamee so parabh mayraa sarab rahi-aa bharpooray.
My God is omniscient and He is totally pervading everywhere.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣਾ ॥
taa kee saran sarab sukh paa-ay ho-ay sarab kali-aanaa.
In His shelter I have obtained all comforts, and am blessed in every way.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
sadaa sadaa parabh ka-o balihaarai naanak sad kurbaanaa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, I am dedicated to God Forever and ever. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
aisaa gur vadbhaagee paa-ee-ai jit mili-ai parabh jaapai raam.
O’ brother, It is only by good fortune that we meet such a Guru, meeting whom we start to understand and remember God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਜਿਹਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਧੂੜੀ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਪੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
janam janam kay kilvikh utreh har sant Dhoorhee nit naapai raam.
the sins of countless lifetimes are erased; by listening to God’s devotee, the mind becomes pure as if we are always bathing in the dust of their feet.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਧੂੜੀ ਨਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥
har Dhoorhee naa-ee-ai parabhoo Dhi-aa-ee-ai baahurh jon na aa-ee-ai.
By remaining in the holy congregation and remembering God through the Guru’s teachings, we do not fall in the cycle of birth and death.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਕ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਈਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੇ ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
gur charnee laagay bharam bha-o bhaagay man chindi-aa fal paa-ee-ai.
By Focusing on the Guru’s divine word, our fear and doubts flee away and we receive the fruit of our mind’s desire.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਰੇਕ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੋਗੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
har gun nit gaa-ay naam Dhi-aa-ay fir sog naahee santaapai.
One who always sings God’s praises and remembers Him with adoration is never afflicted with grief again.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਹਨ; ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਮ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ ॥੨॥
naanak so parabh jee-a kaa daataa pooraa jis partaapai. ||2||
O’ Nanak, that God whose glory is perfect, is the benefactor of life. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਆਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
har haray har gun niDhay har santan kai vas aa-ay raam.
God, the treasure of virtues, is under the loving control of His saints.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ) ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਤ ਚਰਣ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੇ ਤਿਨੀ ਪਰਮ ਪਦ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
sant charan gur sayvaa laagay tinee param pad paa-ay raam.
Those who humbly serve the saintly people and follow the Guru’s teachings attain the supreme spiritual status.
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏ।
ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
param pad paa-i-aa aap mitaa-i-aa har pooran kirpaa Dhaaree.
One on whom God bestowed mercy, abandoned his ego and attained supreme spiritual status.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਹੋਆ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
safal janam ho-aa bha-o bhaagaa har bhayti-aa ayk muraaree.
His life became fruitful, all fears vanished and he experienced the One God.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ।
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
jis kaa saa tin hee mayl lee-aa jotee jot samaa-i-aa.
God, to whom one belonged, united that one with Himself and his soul merged with the supreme soul (God).
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਜਪੀਐ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
naanak naam niranjan japee-ai mil satgur sukh paa-i-aa. ||3||
O’ Nanak, we should lovingly remember the Name of immaculate God; celestial peace is attained by meeting and following the true Guru’s teachings. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਦਾ) ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਗਾਉ ਮੰਗਲੋ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਨਹੁ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਇਛ ਸਬਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
gaa-o manglo nit har janhu punnee ichh sabaa-ee raam.
O’ the devotees of God, daily sing songs of joy in God’s praises; because of it, all the wishes are fulfilled.
ਹੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਓ! ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰੋ, ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
rang ratay apunay su-aamee saytee marai na aavai jaa-ee raam.
They remain imbued with the love of their Master God who is beyond the cycle of birth and death.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪਾਏ ॥
abhinaasee paa-i-aa naam Dhi-aa-i-aa sagal manorath paa-ay.
One who remembered the eternal God with loving devotion, realized Him and attained all his objectives.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈਆਂ।
ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
saaNt sahj aanand ghanayray gur charnee man laa-ay.
One receives tranquility, poise and immense bliss by attuning his mind to the Guru’s divine word.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਈ ॥
poor rahi-aa ghat ghat abhinaasee thaan thanantar saa-ee.
He realizes that the eternal God is pervading each and every heart; He is in all places and interspaces.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥
kaho naanak kaaraj saglay pooray gur charnee man laa-ee. ||4||2||5||
Nanak says, all one’s tasks get accomplished by attuning his mind to the Guru’s divine word. ||4||2||5||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਜੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
kar kirpaa mayray pareetam su-aamee naytar daykheh daras tayraa raam.
O’ my beloved Master, bestow mercy and bless me that my eyes keep experiencing Your blessed vision.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿਣ।
ਲਾਖ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੁਖੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
laakh jihvaa dayh mayray pi-aaray mukh har aaraaDhay mayraa raam.
O’ my Beloved God, bless me with millions of tongues, so that my mouth may keep reciting Your Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਖ ਜੀਭਾਂ ਦੇਹ (ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਜੀਭਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿਣ। ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ!) ਮੇਰਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੇ।
ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਜਮ ਪੰਥੁ ਸਾਧੇ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
har aaraaDhay jam panth saaDhay dookh na vi-aapai ko-ee.
Yes, my mouth may keep uttering Your Name, so that the path laid out by the demon of death is conquered and no sorrow ever afflicts me.
ਮੇਰਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ, ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਹ ਪਾ ਸਕੇ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਤ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਤ ਸੋਈ ॥
jal thal mahee-al pooran su-aamee jat daykhaa tat so-ee.
O’ my Master-God you are pervading the water, the land and the sky; bestow mercy so that wherever I look, I may experience You
ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਧਰ ਵੇਖਾਂ ਉਧਰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸੇ।
ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਠੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੇਰ ਹੂ ਤੇ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
bharam moh bikaar naathay parabh nayr hoo tay nayraa.
My doubts, worldly attachments and vices have vanished, and I experience God near than the nearest.
ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੌੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਭੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
