Raag Soohee, Third Guru, Tenth Beat:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਵੰਞਸੀ ॥
dunee-aa na saalaahi jo mar vanjsee.
O’ friends, do not flatter this world which is bound to perish,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾਮਦ ਨਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ।
ਲੋਕਾ ਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਖਾਕੁ ਥੀਈ ॥੧॥
lokaa na saalaahi jo mar khaak thee-ee. ||1||
and don’t flatter the people who are bound to die and become dust. ||1||
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਵਡਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਫਿਰ, ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਭੀ ਮਰ ਕੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ ॥੧॥
ਵਾਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਵਾਹੁ ॥
vaahu mayray saahibaa vaahu.
O’ my Master-God, You are amazing; You are really praiseworthy.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਹੈਂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈਂ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਸਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gurmukh sadaa salaahee-ai sachaa vayparvaahu. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ brother, we should follow the Guru’s teachings and praise the eternal God who is carefree and is not dependent on anyone. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੇਰੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਝਿ ਮਰੰਨਿ ॥
dunee-aa kayree dostee manmukh dajh marann.
The self-willed people become spiritually dead for the sake of friendship of influential people.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੜ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਵੇਲਾ ਨ ਲਾਹੰਨਿ ॥੨॥
jam pur baDhay maaree-ah vaylaa na lahann. ||2||
They are bound and punished by the demon of death, and then they do not get another opportunity (human life to remember God). ||2||
ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਚੋਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ) ਸਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਕਾਰਥਾ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਗੰਨਿ ॥
gurmukh janam sakaarthaa sachai sabad lagann.
The life of the Guru’s followers is fruitful because they remain attuned to the Guru’s divine word of God’s praises.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਰਹੰਨਿ ॥੩॥
aatam raam pargaasi-aa sehjay sukh rahann. ||3||
They intuitively remain blissful because their minds are illuminated by the divine wisdom of the all pervading God. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਰਚੰਨਿ ॥
gur kaa sabad visaari-aa doojai bhaa-ay rachann.
Those who forsake the Guru’s word and embrace love for Maya,
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਫਿਰੰਨਿ ॥੪॥
tisnaa bhukh na utrai an-din jalat firann. ||4||
their yearning for worldly riches and power never dies; they always wander around suffering in fierce worldly desires. ||4||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਦੁਸਟਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
dustaa naal dostee naal santaa vair karann.
Those who cherish friendship with evil people and harbor animosity to the saints,
ਜੋ ਭੈੜੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਗੰਢੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਿਉ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਡੋਬੰਨਿ ॥੫॥
aap dubay kutamb si-o saglay kul dobann. ||5||
they drown in the worldly ocean of vices along with their families; they become the cause of the deterioration of their entire lineage. ||5||
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਡੋਬ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
ਨਿੰਦਾ ਭਲੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਕਰੰਨਿ ॥
nindaa bhalee kisai kee naahee manmukh mugaDh karann.
It is not good to slander anyone, but the foolish self-willed people indulge in it.
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਤਿਨ ਨਿੰਦਕਾ ਨਰਕੇ ਘੋਰਿ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥੬॥
muh kaalay tin nindkaa narkay ghor pavann. ||6||
These slanderers earn disgrace and suffer in horrible hell. ||6||
ਇਹ ਨਿੰਦਕ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਖੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੬॥
ਏ ਮਨ ਜੈਸਾ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੈਸਾ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
ay man jaisaa sayveh taisaa hoveh tayhay karam kamaa-ay.
O’ my mind, whosoever you serve or follow, by doing what they do, you would also become like them.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਉਹੋ ਬਣ ਜਾਇਂਗਾ।
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
aap beej aapay hee khaavnaa kahnaa kichhoo na jaa-ay. ||7||
Whatever you sow, that is what you shall have to eat; nothing else can be said about this. ||7||
ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਖਾਵੇਗਾ। ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੭॥
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਪਰਥਾਇ ॥
mahaa purkhaa kaa bolnaa hovai kitai parthaa-ay.
Anything uttered by the great pious persons is definitely for the welfare of others.
ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਰਸੰਗ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਓਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਰੇ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹਹਿ ਓਨਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੮॥
o-ay amrit bharay bharpoor heh onaa til na tamaa-ay. ||8||
They are brimful with the ambrosial nectar of Naam; they themselves don’t have any kind of selfish motive in their mind. ||8||
ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ॥੮॥
ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਘਰੈ ਅਵਰਾ ਉਪਦੇਸੇਨਿ ॥
gunkaaree gun sanghrai avraa updaysayn.
The virtuous persons accumulate virtues and instruct others to do likewise.
ਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ-ਮਤ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿ ਓਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਏਨਿ ॥੯॥
say vadbhaagee je onaa mil rahay an-din naam la-ayn. ||9||
Very fortunate are those who meet with these pious people; they also start remembering God at all the time. ||9||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੯॥
ਦੇਸੀ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਮੇਦਨੀ ॥
daysee rijak sambaahi jin upaa-ee maydnee.
O’ my friends, He who has created this universe provides sustenance to all.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਅਪੜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਕੋ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਧਣੀ ॥੧੦॥
ayko hai daataar sachaa aap Dhanee. ||10||
One God alone is the great provider; He Himself is the eternal Master. ||10||
ਉਹੀ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਭੀ) ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥
so sach tayrai naal hai gurmukh nadar nihaal.
O’ brother, that eternal God is always with you; follow the Guru’s teachings and behold Him with your spiritually enlightened eyes.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵੇਖ ਲੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧੧॥
aapay bakhsay mayl la-ay so parabh sadaa samaal. ||11||
Always keep that God enshrined in your heart, bestowing mercy, He Himself will unite you with Him.||11||
ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ ॥੧੧॥
ਮਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
man mailaa sach nirmalaa ki-o kar mili-aa jaa-ay.
O my friends, the eternal God is always immaculate and human mind is filthy with vices, so how could a human being unite with Him?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਲਾ ਹੈ , ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਤਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੧੨॥
parabh maylay taa mil rahai ha-umai sabad jalaa-ay. ||12||
A person can get united with God only if He unites him with Himself by destroying his ego through the Guru’s word. ||12||
ਜੀਵ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨॥
ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
so saho sachaa veesrai Dharig jeevan sansaar.
If that eternal Master-God is forgotten, then living in the world is accursed.
ਜੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਊਣਾ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ।
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਾ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੩॥
nadar karay naa veesrai gurmatee veechaar. ||13||
But if one reflects upon the Guru’s teachings, then God bestows His grace and he does not forget Him. ||13||
ਜੇਕਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਖੇ, ਸਾਈਂ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ॥੧੩॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਤਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਖਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
satgur maylay taa mil rahaa saach rakhaa ur Dhaar.
If the true Guru unites me with God, then only I can remain united with Him and keep Him enshrined in my heart.
ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਵੀਛੁੜੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੧੪॥
mili-aa ho-ay na veechhurhai gur kai hayt pi-aar. ||14||
He, who is thus united with God through the love and affection of the Guru, is never separated from Him again. ||14||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਉਥੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
ਪਿਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥

The soul-bride who praises her Husband-God by reflecting on the Guru’s word,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਜੋਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੧੫॥
mil pareetam sukh paa-i-aa sobhaavantee naar. ||15||
meeting her Beloved-God, she attains celestial peace and is known as a woman of good repute. ||15||
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਸੋਭਾ ਖੱਟ ਲਈ ॥੧੫॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਭਿਜਈ ਅਤਿ ਮੈਲੇ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਠੋਰ ॥
manmukh man na bhij-ee at mailay chit kathor.
The mind of the self-willed people does not get imbued with God’s love; their mind is extremely dirty with vices and have no compassion for others.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਿੱਜਦਾ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ)। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਠੋਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਪੈ ਦੁਧੁ ਪੀਆਈਐ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਿਸੁ ਨਿਕੋਰ ॥੧੬॥
sapai duDh pee-aa-ee-ai andar vis nikor. ||16||
They are like snakes who even when fed on milk, still have only poison in them.||16||
ਜੇ ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਧ ਭੀ ਪਿਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
aap karay kis aakhee-ai aapay bakhsanhaar.
O’ my friends, God Himself is doing everything, therefore whom can we say good or bad; He Himself is capable of bestowing mercy on them.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਚੰਗਾ ਜਾਂ ਮੰਦਾ) ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? (ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਭੀ) ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਬਣਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੧੭॥
gur sabdee mail utrai taa sach bani-aa seegaar. ||17||
When one’s dirt of ego is washed off by reflecting on the Guru’s word, then his soul is embellished with everlasting beauty. ||17||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੭॥
