ਜੈ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੩॥
jai jagdees kee gat nahee jaanee. ||3||
but you have never experienced the state of spiritual bliss possible only by singing the praises of the victorious God. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੂੰ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ) ਸਮਝੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੩॥
ਸਰਣਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
saran samrath agochar su-aamee.
So, I have come to the Sanctuary of the all-powerful, unfathomable Master.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਉਧਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੩੩॥
uDhar naanak parabh antarjaamee. ||4||27||33||
O’ Nanak, pray to God who is the inner knower of hearts that He saves you (from vices). ||4||27||33||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੩੩॥

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥

O’ brother, it is in the company of the Guru that one crosses the dreadful worldly ocean of vices
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਡਰਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਤਨਾਗਰੁ ॥੧॥
har har naam simar ratnaagar. ||1||
by meditating on Naam, the mine of jewels of spirituality. ||1||
ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਣਿ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਉਧਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥
simar simar jeevaa naaraa-in.
I live spiritually by continuously meditating on Naam.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਪ ਤਜਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dookh rog sog sabh binsay gur pooray mil paap tajaa-in. ||1|| rahaa-o.
All pain, disease and suffering are dispelled and sins eradicated on meeting the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਰੋਗ ਗ਼ਮ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਾਪ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
jeevan padvee har kaa naa-o.
Spiritual life is in Naam (In remembering God).
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥੨॥
man tan nirmal saach su-aa-o. ||2||
(As a result of remembrance of God) The mind and body become pure, and one realizes that union with God is the true purpose of life. ||2||
(ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੀ) ਜੀਵਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
aath pahar paarbarahm Dhi-aa-ee-ai.
O’ brother, we should always be meditating on the all pervading God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਾ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
poorab likhat ho-ay taa paa-ee-ai. ||3||
but we are gifted with such wisdom only if it is so preordained in our destiny. ||3||
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੩॥
ਸਰਣਿ ਪਏ ਜਪਿ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
saran pa-ay jap deen da-i-aalaa.
O’ brother, by meditating on (the Name of merciful) God, those devotees who stay under His guidance,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸੰਤ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੩੪॥
naanak jaachai sant ravaalaa. ||4||28||34||
Nanak holds them in the highest esteem (longs for the dust of such saints’ feet). ||4||28||34||

Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru:
ਘਰ ਕਾ ਕਾਜੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਰੂੜਾ ॥
ghar kaa kaaj na jaanee roorhaa.
O’ God, without your grace, the foolish human doesn’t value the urgency of enriching his heart in life.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਝੂਠੈ ਧੰਧੈ ਰਚਿਓ ਮੂੜਾ ॥੧॥
jhoothai DhanDhai rachi-o moorhaa. ||1||
Instead, the fool is engrossed in false attachments. ||1||
(ਸਗੋਂ) ਇਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਝੂਠੇ ਧੰਧੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਤੁ ਤੂੰ ਲਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥
jit tooN laaveh tit tit lagnaa.
Where You attach us to, so we are attached.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਉਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaa tooN deh tayraa naa-o japnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
We meditate on Naam as you bless us to do so. ||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
har kay daas har saytee raatay.
God’s devotees are always imbued with love for Him
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਾਤੇ ॥੨॥
raam rasaa-in an-din maatay. ||2||
and remain intoxicated with the elixir of Naam, day and night. ||2||
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਢੇ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਟੂਟੇ ਗਾਢੇ ॥੩॥
baah pakar parabh aapay kaadhay. janam janam kay tootay gaadhay. ||3||
Separated for countless births, humans get united with God when He Himself reaches out and pulls them from involvement in the worldly attachments. ||3||
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਟੁੱਟਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਉਧਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
uDhar su-aamee parabh kirpaa Dhaaray.
O’ my Master, show Your mercy and save me (from false deeds).
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ। (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਝੂਠੇ ਧੰਧਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੩੫॥
naanak daas har saran du-aaray. ||4||29||35||
Devotee Nanak seeks refuge at Your door (Naam) ||4||29||35||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ) ॥੪॥੨੯॥੩੫॥

Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru:
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
sant parsaad nihchal ghar paa-i-aa.
By the Grace of the Guru, one who has found eternal home (in the heart),
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਡੋਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਘਰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ,
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਫਿਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਡੋੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
sarab sookh fir nahee dolaa-i-aa. ||1||
he has found total spiritual peace, and now will not waver again (by falling prey to vices). ||1||
(ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ, (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ ਡੋਲਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ॥
guroo Dhi-aa-ay har charan man cheenHay.
O’ brother, by following the Guru diligently (by reciting the Name of God with fervor), those who have experienced God’s presence in themselves,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ,
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਰਤੈ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
taa tay kartai asthir keenHay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
the creator God made them unwavering (in pain and pleasure) because of their experience of God’s presence. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸ (ਪਰਖ) ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਅਚੁਤ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
gun gaavat achut abhinaasee.
Singing the Glorious Praises of the unchanging, eternal God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਟੱਲ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ-
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਾਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ॥੨॥
taa tay kaatee jam kee faasee. ||2||
the fear of the noose of death is snapped. ||2||
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੀਨੇ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਏ ॥
kar kirpaa leenay larh laa-ay.
Showering His mercy, those whom he has attached to the hem of His robe (graced with Naam).
ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਦਾ ਅਨਦੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੩॥੩੦॥੩੬॥
sadaa anad naanak gun gaa-ay. ||3||30||36||
O’ Nanak, they always remain in a state of bliss by singing God’s praises. ||3||30||36||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥੩੦॥੩੬॥

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
amrit bachan saaDh kee banee.
The Words uttered by the Holy Saint (Guru) form immortalizing elixir, giving spiritual life.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਉਚਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਚਨ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਰਸਨ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo jo japai tis kee gat hovai har har naam nit rasan bakhaanee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Whoever meditates on these teachings is liberated because such a person is always reciting Naam with love and passion. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ) ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਕਲੇਸਾ ॥
kalee kaal kay mitay kalaysaa.
By acting on the Guru’s advice, one’s sufferings at difficult times (of Kali Yuga – the present iron age) are dispelled,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਮੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵੇਸਾ ॥੧॥
ayko naam man meh parvaysaa. ||1||
because, as a result of exposure to the Guru’s words, only the Name of God comes to reside in one’s mind. ||1||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਇਕ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਾਈ ॥
saaDhoo Dhoor mukh mastak laa-ee.
Those who followed the advice of the Guru with complete surrender (applied dust of the feet of the Guru to their foreheads),
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਾ ਲਈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥੩੧॥੩੭॥
naanak uDhray har gur sarnaa-ee. ||2||31||37||
O’ Nanak, say that they have been saved by the Guru’s grace. ||2||31||37||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਝਗੜਿਆਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਗਏ ॥੨॥੩੧॥੩੭॥

O’ the Master of the universe, the merciful God, I pray that I may always sing Your praises.
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ! ਮੈਂ (ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
darsan dayh pooran kirpaalaa. rahaa-o.
O’ the Perfect Compassionate God, please enlighten me with wisdom. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਹ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
kar kirpaa tum hee partipaalaa.
O’ God, showing Your mercy, it is You who nourish us.
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਮਾਲਾ ॥੧॥
jee-o pind sabh tumraa maalaa. ||1||
My soul and body are all Your property. ||1||
ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਲੈ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਲਾ ॥
amrit naam chalai jap naalaa.
O’ brother, the rejuvenating Naam is worth meditating upon as it accompanies us even after death.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਸਦਾ) ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ (ਇਹੀ ਇਥੋਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸੰਤ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੨॥੩੨॥੩੮॥
naanak jaachai sant ravaalaa. ||2||32||38||
Nanak begs for the dust of the Saints’ feet (begs for humble service of the Guru, meaning Naam). ||2||32||38||
ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥੩੨॥੩੮॥

Raag Soohee, Fifth Guru:
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
tis bin doojaa avar na ko-ee.
Without Him, there is none else (who can save us from vices).
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇ ਸਕੇ)।
ਆਪੇ ਥੰਮੈ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
aapay thammai sachaa so-ee. ||1||
The True One Himself is our anchor (provides support to the entire universe). ||1||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
har har naam mayraa aaDhaar.
Naam is my only support,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan kaaran samrath apaar. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because I know that limitless God is all-powerful to do anything or getting anything done. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਭ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾਵੇ ਨਵਾ ਨਿਰੋਆ ॥
sabh rog mitaavay navaa niro-aa.
God dispels all afflictions, and makes that person perfectly healthy
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਾਂ ਨਿਰੋਆ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਖਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਆ ॥੨॥੩੩॥੩੯॥
naanak rakhaa aapay ho-aa. ||2||33||39||
whose savior He becomes, O’ Nanak. ||2||33||39||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩੩॥੩੯॥
