ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਰੇ ਆਪਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੈ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥
aapay jaanai karay aap jin vaarhee hai laa-ee. ||1||
He who has created this world, knows its needs and fulfils them. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਬਗ਼ੀਚੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਉਹ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਇਸਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾ ਰਾਇਸਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raa-isaa pi-aaray kaa raa-isaa jit sadaa sukh ho-ee. rahaa-o.
O’ brother, we should sing the praises of God because lasting spiritual peace prevails by singing His praises. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸਾ ਪਛੋ ਰੇ ਤਾਣੀ ॥
jin rang kant na raavi-aa saa pachho ray taanee.
O’ brother, that soul-bride who has not remembered the Husband-God with love, regrets in the end.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋੜੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਧੁਣੈ ਜਬ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
haath pachhorhay sir Dhunai jab rain vihaanee. ||2||
She writhes her hands, and bangs her head in repentance when the night of her life comes to an end. ||2||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਿਰ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਛੋਤਾਵਾ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਬ ਚੂਕੈਗੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
pachhotaavaa naa milai jab chookaigee saaree.
Nothing good comes out from repentance when the life has come to an end.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏਗੀ, ਤਦੋਂ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਵੀਐ ਜਬ ਆਵੈਗੀ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
taa fir pi-aaraa raavee-ai jab aavaigee vaaree. ||3||
The opportunity to remember beloved-God will come only when blessed with human life again. ||3||
ਉਸ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ ॥੩॥
ਕੰਤੁ ਲੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੈ ਤੇ ਵਧਵੀ ਏਹ ॥
kant lee-aa sohaaganee mai tay vaDhvee ayh.
Those fortunate soul-brides, who have attained union with the Husband-God, are much more virtuous than me.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੁਝੈ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਕੈ ਜੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇਹ ॥੪॥
say gun mujhai na aavnee kai jee dos Dharayh. ||4||
I don’t have their virtues; whom can I blame for my inability to meet God? ||4||
ਉਹ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕੀਹਦੇ ਉਤੇ ਇਲਜ਼ਾਮ ਲਾਵਾਂ? ॥੪॥
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉਗੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
jinee sakhee saho raavi-aa tin poochh-ugee jaa-ay.
I would go and ask those saintly friends who have attained union with the Husband-God.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਾਂਗੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਉ ਲੇਉਗੀ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਤਾਏ ॥੫॥
paa-ay laga-o bayntee kara-o lay-ugee panth bataa-ay. ||5||
I would bow and request them to tell me the way to realize God. ||5||
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀ ਲੱਗਾਂਗੀ, ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਪੁੱਛ ਲਵਾਂਗੀ ॥੫॥
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
hukam pachhaanai naankaa bha-o chandan laavai.
O’ Nanak, when a soul-bride understands the will of her Husband-God, when she deems His revered fear as her embellishment,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਬਣਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਣ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਤਉ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
gun kaaman kaaman karai ta-o pi-aaray ka-o paavai. ||6||
and when the soul-bride charms the Husband-God with her virtues, she attains union with the beloved-God. ||6||
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੂਣੇ ਬਣਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਜੋ ਦਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਸੋਈ ॥
jo dil mili-aa so mil rahi-aa mili-aa kahee-ai ray so-ee.
O’ brother, that person alone is considered united with God who realizes Him with heart and remains united with Him.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਾਤੀ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੭॥
jay bahutayraa lochee-ai baatee mayl na ho-ee. ||7||
As much as one may yearn, God cannot be realized by mere words. ||7||
ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ॥੭॥
ਧਾਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਕਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਿਵੈ ਕਉ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
Dhaat milai fun Dhaat ka-o liv livai ka-o Dhaavai.
Just as upon melting a metal blends with another piece of the same metal, similarly the love of a devotee attracts God’s love.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਾਤ ਗਲ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਹੋਰ ਧਾਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਲ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਹੈ (ਖਿੱਚ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਤਉ ਅਨਭਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥
gur parsaadee jaanee-ai ta-o anbha-o paavai. ||8||
Upon receiving this understanding by the Guru’s grace, one realizes fearless God. ||8||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਡਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਪਾਨਾ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੋਇ ਘਰਿ ਖਰੁ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
paanaa vaarhee ho-ay ghar khar saar na jaanai.
As a donkey does not know the value of an orchard of betel leaves in the backyard, similarly a spiritually ignorant person does not appreciate the worth of Naam in his heart.
ਪਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਆਰੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਖੋਤਾ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
ਰਸੀਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਸਕ ਕਾ ਤਬ ਫੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੯॥
rasee-aa hovai musak kaa tab fool pachhaanai. ||9||
If one is a lover of fragrance, only then he appreciates its flowers, similarly one realizes the worth of Naam only when love for God develops in his heart. ||9||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਵੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
api-o peevai jo naankaa bharam bharam samaavai.
O’ Nanak, one who partakes the ambrosial nectar of Naam, all his doubt is destroyed within itself.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧੦॥੧॥
sehjay sehjay mil rahai amraa pad paavai. ||10||1||
Intuitively, he remains in a state of spiritual equipoise and attains a supreme spiritual status and becomes spiritually immortal. ||10||1||
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੀ ॥੧੦॥੧॥

Raag Tilang, Fourth Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਆ ॥
har kee-aa kathaa kahaanee-aa gur meet sunaa-ee-aa.
The Guru, my friend, has narrated to me the divine words of God’s praises.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ! ਮਿੱਤਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਆ ॥੧॥
balihaaree gur aapnay gur ka-o bal jaa-ee-aa. ||1||
I am dedicated whole heartedly to my Guru. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aa-ay mil gursikh aa-ay mil too mayray guroo kay pi-aaray. rahaa-o.
O’ the dear disciple of My Guru, come and meet me. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਿੱਖ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਦੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
har kay gun har bhaavday say guroo tay paa-ay.
The praises of God are pleasing to Him; I have learned to sing God’s praises from the Guru.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ (ਗਾਉਣੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਣ (ਗਾਉਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਿੱਖੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
jin gur kaa bhaanaa mani-aa tin ghum ghum jaa-ay. ||2||
I am always dedicated to those who have faithfully followed the Guru’s teachings. ||2||
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ (ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ॥
jin satgur pi-aaraa daykhi-aa tin ka-o ha-o vaaree.
I am dedicated to those who have been blessed with vision of the beloved true Guru.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
jin gur kee keetee chaakree tin sad balihaaree. ||3||
I am always dedicated to those who have served the Guru by following his teachings. ||3||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
har har tayraa naam hai dukh maytanhaaraa.
O’ God, Your Name is the destroyer of all suffering,
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
gur sayvaa tay paa-ee-ai gurmukh nistaaraa. ||4||
it is received through the Guru’s teachings; we swim across the world ocean of vices by following the Guru’s teachings. ||4||
ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
jo har naam Dhi-aa-iday tay jan parvaanaa.
Those who lovingly meditate on God’s Name, are approved in God’s presence.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
tin vitahu naanak vaari-aa sadaa sadaa kurbaanaa. ||5||
Nanak is completely dedicated to them for ever and ever. ||5||
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
saa har tayree ustat hai jo har parabh bhaavai.
O’ God, that alone is Your true praise which is pleasing to You.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਹੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
jo gurmukh pi-aaraa sayvday tin har fal paavai. ||6||
The Guru’s followers who worship God with loving devotion, attain union with Him as their reward. ||6||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸੁਖ-) ਫਲ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
jinaa har saytee pirharhee tinaa jee-a parabh naalay.
Those who cherish deep love for God, their hearts are always attuned to His Name.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ (ਸਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ) ਹਨ।
ਓਇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥੭॥
o-ay jap jap pi-aaraa jeevday har naam samaalay. ||7||
They spiritually rejuvenate by always remembering and enshrining the beloved God in their hearts. ll7ll
ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੭॥
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
jin gurmukh pi-aaraa sayvi-aa tin ka-o ghum jaa-i-aa.
I am dedicated to those followers of the Guru who performed the devotional worship of the beloved God.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਛੁਟੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਿਉ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
o-ay aap chhutay parvaar si-o sabh jagat chhadaa-i-aa. ||8||
They themselves are saved along with their companions, and they get everyone liberated from vices by inspiring them to meditate on God. ||8||
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਭੀ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੋ ॥
gur pi-aarai har sayvi-aa gur Dhan gur Dhanno.
Praiseworthy is my beloved Guru, it is by his grace that I have performed the devotional worship of God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਲਾਹੁਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੋ ॥੯॥
gur har maarag dasi-aa gur punn vad punno. ||9||
It is the Guru who has shown me the divine path. It is indeed a great blessing which the Guru has bestowed upon me. ||9||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਵੱਡਾ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
