ਚਿਤਿ ਜਿ ਚਿਤਵਿਆ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
chit je chitvi-aa so mai paa-i-aa.
I received whatever I wished for in my mind.
ਮੈਂ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਭੀ ਮੰਗ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਮੰਗੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ) ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਖ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
naanak naam Dhi-aa-ay sukh sabaa-i-aa. ||4||
O’ Nanak, total celestial peace is attained by lovingly remembering Naam. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ),

Chhant:
ਅਬ ਮਨੁ ਛੂਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ॥
ab man chhoot ga-i-aa saaDhoo sang milay.
My mind is now emancipated from the bond of worldly allurements because I have joined the company of the Guru.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲੇ ॥
gurmukh naam la-i-aa jotee jot ralay.
I have meditated on Naam through the Guru’s teachings and my soul has merged with the Supreme soul.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼, ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਿਟੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਬੁਝੀ ਤਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਨਿਆ ॥
har naam simrat mitay kilbikh bujhee tapat aghaani-aa.
By meditating on God’s Naam my sins are erased, fierce desires are quenched and I am satiated.
ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿੱਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਅੰਦਰਲੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁਝ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਲੀਨੇ ਦਇਆ ਕੀਨੇ ਆਪਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
geh bhujaa leenay da-i-aa keenay aapnay kar maani-aa.
Bestowing His mercy, God has taken me into His refuge and has accepted me as one of His own.
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਪਕੜ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਜ ਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਲੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਲਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣਾ ਦੁਖ ਜਲੇ ॥
lai ank laa-ay har milaa-ay janam marnaa dukh jalay.
Those on whom God bestows mercy and unites them with Himself, all the pains of their birth and death vanish.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸੜ (ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੀ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਇਕ ਪਲੇ ॥੪॥੨॥
binvant naanak da-i-aa Dhaaree mayl leenay ik palay. ||4||2||
Nanak submits that showing His mercy, God unites them with Himself in an instant. ||4||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਪਾਧਾਣੂ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਗਾਰਬਿ ਅਟਿਆ ॥
paaDhaanoo sansaar gaarab ati-aa.
People in the world are like temporary travellers, and yet they are filled with ego.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ ਮੁਸਾਫ਼ਿਰ ਹੈ (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ,) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਅਨੇਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਰਟਿyou byਆ ॥
kartay paap anayk maa-i-aa rang rati-aa.
Imbued with the love for Maya, the worldly riches and power, they keep committing myriad of sins.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਜੀਵ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਿ ਬੂਡੇ ਮਰਣੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥
lobh mohi abhimaan booday maran cheet na aav-ay.
They remain drowned in greed, emotional worldly attachments and egotism; the thought of death does not even enter their mind.
ਉਹ ਲੋਭ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਯਾਦ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ।
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਏਹ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਹਾਵਏ ॥
putar mitar bi-uhaar banitaa ayh karat bihaava-ay.
They spend their entire lives attending to the affairs of their spouses, children, and friends.
ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਦੇ ਮੇਲ-ਮਿਲਾਪ-ਇਹੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ) ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੁਜਿ ਦਿਵਸ ਆਏ ਲਿਖੇ ਮਾਏ ਦੁਖੁ ਧਰਮ ਦੂਤਹ ਡਿਠਿਆ ॥
puj divas aa-ay likhay maa-ay dukh Dharam dootah dithi-aa.
O’ mother, when their pre-ordained days have run their course, they feel miserable upon seeing the demons of death in front of them.
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ (ਧੁਰੋਂ) ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ (ਉਮਰ ਦੇ) ਦਿਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆਂ ਬੜੀ ਤਕਲੀਫ਼ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰਮ ਨ ਮਿਟੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਖਟਿਆ ॥੧॥
kirat karam na mitai naanak har naam Dhan nahee khati-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, one’s preordained destiny based on his past deeds cannot be erased because he has not earned the wealth of God’s Name in this life. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਥੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਟਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਉਦਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਗਾਵਹੀ ॥
udam karahi anayk har naam na gaavhee.
Those who make countless ritualistic efforts, but do not worship God’s Name,
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਉੱਦਮ ਤਾਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਪਦੇ,
ਭਰਮਹਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਅਸੰਖ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਆਵਹੀ ॥
bharmeh jon asaNkh mar janmeh aavhee.
wander around in myriad forms of lives and keep going through the cycle of birth and death.
ਉਹ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਕੇ (ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ) ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ (ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਸੂ ਪੰਖੀ ਸੈਲ ਤਰਵਰ ਗਣਤ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥
pasoo pankhee sail tarvar ganat kachhoo na aav-ay.
There is no count of the species of animals, birds, rocks, and trees which such human beings go through.
(ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਸ਼ੂ ਪੰਛੀ, ਪੱਥਰ, ਰੁੱਖ (ਆਦਿਕ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਬੀਜੁ ਬੋਵਸਿ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਅਪਣਾ ਪਾਵਏ ॥
beej bovas bhog bhogeh kee-aa apnaa paav-ay.
They reap what they sow, and bear the consequences of their own deeds.
ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਫਲ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਾਰੰਤ ਜੂਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਿ ਨ ਭਾਵਹੀ ॥
ratan janam harant joo-ai parabhoo aap na bhaavhee.
They lose their jewel like precious human life and are not pleasing to God either.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਨੂੰ ਜੂਏ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੇ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਏ ਖਿਨੁ ਏਕੁ ਟਿਕਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ॥੨॥
binvant naanak bharmeh bharmaa-ay khin ayk tikan na paavhee. ||2||
Nanak humbly says, they wander in doubt and they do not find peace even for an instant. |2|
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਟਿਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਜੋਬਨੁ ਗਇਆ ਬਿਤੀਤਿ ਜਰੁ ਮਲਿ ਬੈਠੀਆ ॥
joban ga-i-aa biteet jar mal baithee-aa.
When youth passes away, old age has taken its place.
ਆਖ਼ਰ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ) ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਮੱਲ ਕੇ ਬਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰ ਕੰਪਹਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਡੋਲ ਨੈਣ ਨ ਡੀਠਿਆ ॥
kar kampeh sir dol nain na deethi-aa.
The hands tremble, the head shakes and the eye sight is lost.
ਹੱਥ ਕੰਬਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਿਰ ਝੋਲਾ ਖਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਨਹ ਨੈਣ ਦੀਸੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਜਨ ਈਸੈ ਛੋਡਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਾਲਿਆ ॥
nah nain deesai bin bhajan eesai chhod maa-i-aa chaali-aa.
The eyes cannot see and one departs from the world leaving behind all the wealth he had amassed ,and for the sake of which he deprived himself of Gad’s Name.
ਅੱਖੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਜਨ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ, ਆਖ਼ਰ ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹਿਆ ਨ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਖਾਕੁ ਛਾਨਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਜਾਲਿਆ ॥
kahi-aa na maaneh sir khaak chhaaneh jin sang man tan jaali-aa.
Those for whom he had been consuming his body and mind, do not listen to him at all. Instead, they disrespect and humiliate him, as if they throw dirt on him.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ; ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਆਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੇ, ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੀ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਸ੍ਰੀਰਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਅਪਾਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਹ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਵੂਠਿਆ ॥
sareeraam rang apaar pooran nah nimakh man meh voothi-aa.
He did not enshrine the love for the all pervading infinite God in his mind even for a moment.
ਬੇਅੰਤ, ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਵੱਸੀਆਂ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋਟਿ ਕਾਗਰ ਬਿਨਸ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਝੂਠਿਆ ॥੩॥
binvant naanak kot kaagar binas baar na jhoothi-aa. ||3||
Nanak submits, it does not take long for the paper castle-like false body to perish. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਕਾਗਜ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਰਗੀ ਕੂੜ ਦੇਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ॥੩॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਇਆ ॥
charan kamal sarnaa-ay naanak aa-i-aa.
Nanak has come to the refuge of God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਤਰੁ ਭੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥
dutar bhai sansaar parabh aap taraa-i-aa.
God Himself has helped him swim across the dreadful and difficult worldly ocean of vices.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਇਸ ਕਠਿਨ ਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੇ ਭਜੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਕਰਿ ਅੰਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
mil saaDhsangay bhajay sareeDhar kar ang parabh jee taari-aa.
Whosoever worshipped God in a holy congregation, God helped him cross the dreadful worldly ocean of vices.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ
ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਲੀਏ ਨਾਮ ਦੀਏ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
har maan lee-ay naam dee-ay avar kachh na beechaari-aa.
God approved and blessed them with His Name and did not take anything else into consideration.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ (ਗੁਣ ਔਗੁਣ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਅਪਾਰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਲੋੜੀਦਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gun niDhaan apaar thaakur man lorheedaa paa-i-aa.
They realized the infinite God, the treasure of virtues, whom they had been longing for.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤਾਂਘ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ,
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੩॥
binvant naanak sadaa tariptai har naam bhojan khaa-i-aa. ||4||2||3||
Nanak submits that they, who partook and meditated on God’s Name as their spiritual food, became satiated forever. ||4||2||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਧਾ ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਜ ਗਏ ॥੪॥੨॥੩॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਆਦਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਧਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਅੰਤਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥
aad pooran maDh pooran ant pooran parmaysureh.
God was existing before the beginning of the universe; He is omnipresent now, and shall remain fully existent even after the end of the universe.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
ਸਿਮਰੰਤਿ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਰਮਣੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਘਨਾਸਨ ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰਹ ॥੧॥
simrant sant sarbatar ramnaN naanak aghnaasan jagdeesureh. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the saints meditate on that all pervading God of the universe and destroyer of all sins. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਉਸ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
