ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਹਰ ਤੇ ਘਰੀਆਂ ਆਵ ਘਟੈ ਤਨੁ ਛੀਜੈ ॥
din tay pahar pahar tay gharee-aaN aav ghatai tan chheejai.
Day by day, hour by hour, life runs its course and the body is withering away.
ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਰ ਤੇ ਪਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਘੜੀਆਂ ( ਥੋੜਾ ਥੋੜਾ ਸਮਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਉਮਰ ਘਟਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਲੁ ਅਹੇਰੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਧਿਕ ਜਿਉ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੧॥
kaal ahayree firai baDhik ji-o kahhu kavan biDh keejai. ||1||
Death is hovering over us like a hunter, tell me, what can be done to escape from it? ||1||
ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਇਉਂ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੌਤ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਉਦਾਲੇ ਫਿਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਦੱਸੋ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਜਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥
ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਆਵਨ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
so din aavan laagaa.
That day (of death) is rapidly approaching.
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ) ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਕੋਊ ਹੈ ਕਾ ਕਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maat pitaa bhaa-ee sut banitaa kahhu ko-oo hai kaa kaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Amongst the mother, father, siblings, children and spouse, none of them can help th one at the time of death. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਭਰਾ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਵਹੁਟੀ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ (ਉਸ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਬਰਤੈ ਆਪਾ ਪਸੂ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
jab lag jot kaa-i-aa meh bartai aapaa pasoo na boojhai.
As long as there is soul in this body, the beast like human being doesn’t understand its true self.
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਾ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਸ਼ੂ-(ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਲਾਲਚ ਕਰੈ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ॥੨॥
laalach karai jeevan pad kaaran lochan kachhoo na soojhai. ||2||
He craves for a longer and longer lifetime; he sees people dying with his own eyes but doesn’t understand that he cannot escape death. ||2||
ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਊਣ ਲਈ ਲਾਲਚ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖੀਂ (ਇਹ) ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ (ਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇਗਾ) ॥੨॥
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਛੋਡਹੁ ਮਨ ਕੇ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
kahat kabeer sunhu ray paraanee chhodahu man kay bharmaa.
Kabeer says, listen, O mortal, renounce the doubts of your mind.
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਮਨ ਦੇ (ਇਹ) ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਉ (ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਇੱਥੇ ਬਹਿ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ)।
ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਪਰਹੁ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਂ ॥੩॥੨॥
kayval naam japahu ray paraanee parahu ayk kee sarnaaN. ||3||2||
Seek the refuge of the one God and meditate on His Name alone. ||3||2||
ਹੇ ਜੀਵ? ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੋ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਓ ॥੩॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਛੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਕਾਹੋ ॥
jo jan bhaa-o bhagat kachh jaanai taa ka-o achraj kaaho.
That devotee, who knows even a little about loving adoration of God, for him union with God is nothing extraordinary
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭਗਤ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਜੇਹੀ ਭੀ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਭਗਤੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ-ਮਿੱਕ ਹੋਣਾ) ਕੀ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ?
ਜਿਉ ਜਲੁ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਪੈਸਿ ਨ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਢੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਜੁਲਾਹੋ ॥੧॥
ji-o jal jal meh pais na niksai ti-o dhur mili-o julaaho. ||1||
Just as water of a small creek when merged in ocean cannot be separated, similarly Kabir, the weaver, after eradicating ego has merged in God. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੁਲਾਹ ਭੀ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗਾ ਮੈ ਤਉ ਮਤਿ ਕਾ ਭੋਰਾ ॥
har kay logaa mai ta-o mat kaa bhoraa.
O’ the devotees of God, I am just a simple-minded person.
ਹੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਓ! ਮੈਂ ਅਕਲੋਂ ਭੋਲਾ ਭਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਉ ਤਨੁ ਕਾਸੀ ਤਜਹਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਰਮਈਐ ਕਹਾ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ja-o tan kaasee tajeh kabeeraa rama-ee-ai kahaa nihoraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
If Kabeer can liberate himself from the cycle of birth and death by dying in Kashi then what is God’s role in this? ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਛੱਡੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਏਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ?॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਲੋਈ ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
kahat kabeer sunhu ray lo-ee bharam na bhoolahu ko-ee.
Kabir says, listen, O people – do not be deluded by doubt.
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ (ਕਿ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ),
ਕਿਆ ਕਾਸੀ ਕਿਆ ਊਖਰੁ ਮਗਹਰੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਉ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥੩॥
ki-aa kaasee ki-aa ookhar maghar raam ridai ja-o ho-ee. ||2||3||
If God is enshrined in the heart, then there is no difference whether one dies in Kashi or the cursed land of Maghar. ||2||3||
ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਕੀਹ ਤੇ ਕਲਰਾਠਾ ਮਗਹਰ ਕੀਹ (ਦੋਹੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥੩॥
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਲੋਕ ਸਿਵ ਲੋਕਹਿ ਜੈਬੋ ॥ ਓਛੇ ਤਪ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਹੁਰਿ ਐਬੋ ॥੧॥
indar lok siv lokeh jaibo. ochhay tap kar baahur aibo. ||1||
Even if by doing hypocritical acts of penance and austerities, one is able to reach the realm of god Indra or god Shiva, still after sometime, he would come back.
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਹੌਲੇ ਮੇਲ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇੰਦਰ-ਪੁਰੀ ਜਾਂ ਸ਼ਿਵ-ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਅੱਪੜ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਵਾਪਸ ਆਵੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਕਿਆ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
ki-aa maaNga-o kichh thir naahee.
What else may I ask from God? Nothing except Naam is everlasting.
(ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ) ਕੀਹ ਮੰਗਾਂ? ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ (ਦਿੱਸਦੀ)।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam rakh man maahee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Therefore, enshrine God’s Name within your mind. ||1||Pause||
(ਤਾਂਤੇ )ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋਭਾ ਰਾਜ ਬਿਭੈ ਬਡਿਆਈ ॥
sobhaa raaj bibhai badi-aa-ee.
The worldly fame, power, sinful pleasure, and false greatness,
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮਣਾ, ਰਾਜ, ਐਸ਼੍ਵਰਜ, ਵਡਿਆਈ-
ਅੰਤਿ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਸੰਗ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੨॥
ant na kaahoo sang sahaa-ee. ||2||
none of these prove helpful in the end. ||2||
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੰਗੀ-ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਲਛਮੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
putar kaltar lachhmee maa-i-aa.
Children, spouse, wealth and love for worldly riches,
ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵਹੁਟੀ, ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ-
ਇਨ ਤੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਵਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
in tay kaho kavnai sukh paa-i-aa. ||3||
tell me who has ever obtained peace from these? ||3||
ਦੱਸ, (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ? ॥੩॥
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਵਰ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਮਾ ॥
kahat kabeer avar nahee kaamaa.
Kabir says, nothing else is of any use;
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ;
ਹਮਰੈ ਮਨ ਧਨ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੪॥
hamrai man Dhan raam ko naamaa. ||4||4||
for me God’s Name is the everlasting wealth. ||4||4||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥
ਰਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
raam simar raam simar raam simar bhaa-ee.
O’ my brother, always remember God again and again.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ। ਸਦਾ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਡਤੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam simran bin boodtay aDhikaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Because without meditation on God’s Name, many people drown in the worldly ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜੀਵ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਦੇਹ ਗ੍ਰੇਹ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
banitaa sut dayh garayh sampat sukh-daa-ee.
Wife, children, body, house and possessions, though appear peace giving,
ਵਹੁਟੀ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਸਰੀਰ, ਘਰ, ਦੌਲਤ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮੈ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਤੇਰੋ ਕਾਲ ਅਵਧ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
inH mai kachh naahi tayro kaal avaDh aa-ee. ||1||
but none of these shall be yours, when the time of death comes. ||1||
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੌਤ-ਰੂਪ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲਾ ਸਮਾ ਆਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਅਜਾਮਲ ਗਜ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
ajaamal gaj ganikaa patit karam keenay.
A brahmin Ajaamal, Gaj an elephant, and Ganika a prostitute committed many sins,
ਅਜਾਮਲ, ਗਜ, ਗਨਿਕਾ-ਇਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ,
ਤੇਊ ਉਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲੀਨੇ ॥੨॥
tay-oo utar paar paray raam naam leenay. ||2||
but were saved from their sins when they meditated on God’s Name. ||2||
ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਭੀ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ ॥੨॥
ਸੂਕਰ ਕੂਕਰ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ ਤਊ ਲਾਜ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
sookar kookar jon bharamay ta-oo laaj na aa-ee.
O’ my friend, did you feel no shame, wandering around in species such as pigs and dogs?
(ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ!) ਤੂੰ ਸੂਰ, ਕੁੱਤੇ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ (ਹੁਣ) ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਛਾਡਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਈ ॥੩॥
raam naam chhaad amrit kaahay bikh khaa-ee. ||3||
Forsaking the ambrosial nectar of God’s Name, why are you indulging in vices, a poison for your spiritual life? ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਉਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ? ॥੩॥
ਤਜਿ ਭਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਿਖੇਧ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਹੀ ॥
taj bharam karam biDh nikhayDh raam naam layhee.
Abandon your doubts about the good and bad deeds and meditate on God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਯੋਗ ਅਯੋਗ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਹਿਮ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ।
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਨ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਸਨੇਹੀ ॥੪॥੫॥
gur parsaad jan kabeer raam kar sanayhee. ||4||5||
O’ devotee Kabir, through the Guru’s grace, make God as your friend. ||4||5||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਬੀਰ! ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਾ ॥੪॥੫॥
ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਕੀ
Dhanaasree banee bhagat naamdayv jee kee

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਹਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਨੀਵ ਖੁਦਾਈ ਊਪਰਿ ਮੰਡਪ ਛਾਏ ॥
gahree kar kai neev khudaa-ee oopar mandap chhaa-ay.
Those who got lofty palaces built on deep foundations,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਡੂੰਘੀਆਂ ਨੀਹਾਂ ਪੁਟਵਾ ਕੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਹਿਲ-ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਉਸਰਾਏ
ਮਾਰਕੰਡੇ ਤੇ ਕੋ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ਜਿਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਧਰਿ ਮੂੰਡ ਬਲਾਏ ॥੧॥
maarkanday tay ko aDhikaa-ee jin tarin Dhar moond balaa-ay. ||1||
did not live longer than Sage Markanda, who passed all his life under a roof of straw. ||1||
ਮਾਰਕੰਡੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਹੋਣੀ ਏ? ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਝੱਟ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
ਹਮਰੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਨੇਹੀ ॥
hamro kartaa raam sanayhee.
The Creator-God is our only true friend.
ਕੇਵਲ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੀ ਅਸਾਡਾ ਅਸਲ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਹੇ ਰੇ ਨਰ ਗਰਬੁ ਕਰਤ ਹਹੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਝੂਠੀ ਦੇਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaahay ray nar garab karat hahu binas jaa-ay jhoothee dayhee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ mortals, why do you feel so proud of your body; this perishable body would perish. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਬੰਦਿਓ! ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ! ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ, ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
