ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੭॥

Raag Dhanasri, Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਨਿ ਤੁਮ ਭੇਜੇ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਆਉ ॥
jin tum bhayjay tineh bulaa-ay sukh sahj saytee ghar aa-o.
O’ my mind, He (God) who sent you into the world is inspiring you to remember Him;therefore, stop wandering and return within with peace and poise.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ!) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹੁ।
ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਮਾਉ ॥੧॥
anad mangal gun gaa-o sahj Dhun nihchal raaj kamaa-o. ||1||
Intuitively sing the bliss giving songs of joy in praises of God and enjoy the everlasting control over the vices. ||1||
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਵਿਚ, ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਾਜ ਕਰ ॥੧॥
ਤੁਮ ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥
tum ghar aavhu mayray meet.
O’ my mind, my friend, come back to your heart.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ (ਮਨ)! (ਹੁਣ) ਤੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੁ (ਆ ਜਾ)।
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਦੋਖੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ਅਪਦਾ ਭਈ ਬਿਤੀਤ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumray dokhee har aap nivaaray apdaa bha-ee biteet. rahaa-o.
God Himself has eradicated your vices and misfortune is over. ||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਹੁਣ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਨੇਹਾਰੇ ਨਾਸਨ ਭਾਜਨ ਥਾਕੇ ॥
pargat keenay parabh karnayhaaray naasan bhaajan thaakay.
God who is capable of doing everything has revealed Himself to those on whom He bestowed mercy and their running around has ceased.
ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈਆਂ l
ਘਰਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਖਸਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ॥੨॥
ghar mangal vaajeh nit vaajay apunai khasam nivaajay. ||2||
The Master-God has honored them; there is bliss in their hearts as if the musical instruments are continually playing in their hearts.
ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਵਾਜੇ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਜਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਅਸਥਿਰ ਰਹਹੁ ਡੋਲਹੁ ਮਤ ਕਬਹੂ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਅਧਾਰਿ ॥
asthir rahhu dolahu mat kabhoo gur kai bachan aDhaar.
Depend upon the support of the Guru’s words and remain stable and never waver against vices.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ, ਤੂੰ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਪੱਕੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਖਲੋ ਜਾ, ਵੇਖੀਂ, ਹੁਣ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਡੋਲੀਂ।
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਭੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਦਰਬਾਰ ॥੩॥
jai jai kaar sagal bhoo mandal mukh oojal darbaar. ||3||
The entire universe would applaud you and you would be honored in God’s presence. ||3||
ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਜਲਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਤਿਨੈ ਹੀ ਫੇਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਭਇਆ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
jin kay jee-a tinai hee fayray aapay bha-i-aa sahaa-ee.
God, who has created all human beings, Himself becomes their helper and turns them away from vices.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਚਰਜੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੪॥੨੮॥
achraj kee-aa karnaihaarai naanak sach vadi-aa-ee. ||4||4||28||
O’ Nanak, almighty God has done a wonder; His glory is eternal. ||4||4||28||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਖੇਡ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੨੮॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਨਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਿਨਉ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
sunhu sant pi-aaray bin-o hamaaray jee-o.
O’ my dear saints, listen to this prayer of mine,
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣੋ,
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜੀਉ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har bin mukat na kaahoo jee-o. rahaa-o.
without God’s grace, no one can obtain salvation from worldly bonds. ||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਤਾਰਨ ਤਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਰਿ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਕਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥
man nirmal karam kar taaran taran har avar janjaal tayrai kaahoo na kaam jee-o.
O’ mind, do the immaculate deeds (remember God), all other entanglements are of no use; God’s Name is the ship to ferry you across the world-ocean of vices.
ਹੇ ਮਨ!ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੰਮ (ਹਰਿ-ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਕਰ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਗੇ।
ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਵਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੇਵਾ ਇਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
jeevan dayvaa paarbarahm sayvaa ih updays mo ka-o gur deenaa jee-o. ||1||
The devotional worship of the supreme God is the only way of righteous living and the Guru has imparted me this teaching. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਜੀਵਨ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਨ ਲਾਈਐ ਹੀਤੁ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੀਤੁ ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਓਹੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
tis si-o na laa-ee-ai heet jaa ko kichh naahee beet ant kee baar oh sang na chaalai.
We should not fall in love with trivial worldly things, because in the end these would not accompany us.
ਉਸ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਉਹ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਤੂ ਆਰਾਧ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਧ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੂਟੈ ॥੨॥
man tan too aaraaDh har kay pareetam saaDh jaa kai sang tayray banDhan chhootai. ||2||
Meditate on God’s Name with your mind and heart; keep the company of the beloved saints of God, in whose company your worldly bonds will end. ||2||
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਉਹਨਾਂਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੨॥
ਗਹੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਮਲ ਚਰਨ ਅਵਰ ਆਸ ਕਛੁ ਪਟਲੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
gahu paarbarahm saran hirdai kamal charan avar aas kachh patal na keejai.
Enshrine supreme God’s Name in your heart and hold on to His support; do not place your hopes in any one other than God.
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ ਵਸਾ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਫੜ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ,
ਸੋਈ ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਤਪਾ ਸੋਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੩॥੧॥੨੯॥
so-ee bhagat gi-aanee Dhi-aanee tapaa so-ee naanak jaa ka-o kirpaa keejai. ||3||1||29||
O’ Nanak, the one on whom God bestows mercy is a true devotee, divinely wise, and a penitent. ||3||1||29||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ, ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਸੁਰਤਿ-ਅਭਿਆਸੀ ਹੈ,ਅਤੇ ਤਪਸ੍ਵੀ ਹੈ, ॥੩॥੧॥੨੯॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਲ ਭਲੋ ਰੇ ਭਲੋ ਰੇ ਭਲੋ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਗਨਾ ॥
mayray laal bhalo ray bhalo ray bhalo har mangnaa.
O’ my dear, the best thing to ask from God is His Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
ਦੇਖਹੁ ਪਸਾਰਿ ਨੈਨ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਬੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਸਗਲ ਹੈ ਮਰਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
daykhhu pasaar nain sunhu saaDhoo kay bain paraanpat chit raakh sagal hai marnaa. rahaa-o.
Open your eyes and see that eventually all have to die, therefore listen to the Guru’s divine words and enshrine God, the master of life in your heart. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ;ਅੱਖਾਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਆਖ਼ਰ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਮਰਨਾ ਹੈ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਚੰਦਨ ਚੋਆ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਕਰਤ ਅਨੇਕੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਦੇਖੁ ਸਗਲ ਹੈ ਫੀਕੇ ਏਕੈ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੀਕੋ ਕਹਤ ਹੈ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ॥
chandan cho-aa ras bhog karat anaykai bikhi-aa bikaar daykh sagal hai feekay aykai gobid ko naam neeko kahat hai saaDh jan.
O’ mortal, you use perfumes and eat dainty dishes but look, all joys of Maya are insipid and lead to sins; only God’s Name is sublime, say the saintly people.
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਤੂੰ ਚੰਦਨ ਅਤਰ (ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਪਰ, ਵੇਖ! ਇਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੋਗ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਆਪਨ ਥਾਪਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਨ ਨਿਮਖ ਜਾਪਿਓ ਅਰਥੁ ਦ੍ਰਬੁ ਦੇਖੁ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਚਲਨਾ ॥੧॥
tan Dhan aapan thaapi-o har jap na nimakh jaapi-o arath darab daykh kachh sang naahee chalnaa. ||1||
You claim the body and worldly wealth as yours, and you do not meditate on God even for a moment; look, none of these possessions will go with you. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਝ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਪਦਾ। ਵੇਖ, ਇਹ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਰੇ ਕਰਮੁ ਭਲਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਪਲਾ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਜਮੁ ਸੰਤਾਵੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਨਾ ॥
jaa ko ray karam bhalaa tin ot gahee sant palaa tin naahee ray jam santaavai saaDhoo kee sangnaa.
O’ brother, one who has good destiny, hold on to the Guru’s word; the fear of death does not trouble those who remain in the Guru’s company.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹੋਈ,ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆ।ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਸਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਪਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਹੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਏਕੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੦॥
paa-i-o ray param niDhaan miti-o hai abhimaan aykai nirankaar naanak man lagnaa. ||2||2||30||
O’ Nanak, one who receives the supreme treasure of Naam, his egotism goes away and his mind remains attuned to the formless God. ||2||2||30||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੦॥
