ਸੰਤਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ॥
santahu sukh ho-aa sabh thaa-ee.
O’ saints, that person feels peace everywhere,
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭਨੀ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarbarahm pooran parmaysar rav rahi-aa sabhnee jaa-ee. rahaa-o.
who realizes the perfect supreme God pervading everywhere. ||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਯਕੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ||ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਈ ॥
Dhur kee banee aa-ee.
That person in whose mind is enshrined the divine words of God’s praises,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆ ਵੱਸੀ,
ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਚਿੰਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥
tin saglee chint mitaa-ee.
he has erased all his anxiety.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ।
ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੧੩॥੭੭॥
da-i-aal purakh miharvaanaa. har naanak saach vakhaanaa. ||2||13||77||
O’ Nanak, one on whom the all pervading merciful God bestows kindness, he always recites the Name of the eternal God. ||2||13||77||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਹਰਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੩॥੭੭॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
aithai othai rakhvaalaa. parabh satgur deen da-i-aalaa.
The true Guru, the embodiment of God, is merciful to the meek and is their savior both here and hereafter.
ਰੱਬ ਰੂਪ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ
ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
daas apnay aap raakhay.
God Himself protects His devotees.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਪ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖੇ ॥੧॥
ghat ghat sabad subhaakhay. ||1||
The Guru’s divine word resounds in each and every heart. ||1||
ਸਭ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਊਪਰਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
gur kay charan oopar bal jaa-ee.
I am devoted to Guru’s immaculate words.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮਾਲੀ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dinas rain saas saas samaalee pooran sabhnee thaa-ee. rahaa-o.
Day and night, with each and every breath I lovingly remember that God, who is fully pervading everywhere. ||pause||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੋਆ ॥
aap sahaa-ee ho-aa.
He Himself has become my Support,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੇ ਦਾ ਸਚਾ ਢੋਆ ॥
sachay daa sachaa dho-aa.
True is the support of the eternal God.
ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਆਸਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ।
ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ ਪਾਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੭੮॥
tayree bhagat vadi-aa-ee. paa-ee naanak parabh sarnaa-ee. ||2||14||78||
O’ Nanak , the gift of singing God’s glory and His devotional worship is received only by coming to His refuge. ||2||14||78||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੭੮॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
satgur pooray bhaanaa.
When it was pleasing to the perfect true Guru,
ਜਦੋਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਾ,
ਤਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਮਾਣਾ ॥
taa japi-aa naam ramaanaa.
then only, I meditated on the Name of the all pervading God.
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਪੈਜ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
gobind kirpaa Dhaaree. parabh raakhee paij hamaaree. ||1||
God, the Master of the universe bestowed mercy, and protected my honor. ||1||
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
har kay charan sadaa sukh-daa-ee.
The immaculate words of God’s praises are always comforting.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਇਛਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo ichheh so-ee fal paavahi birthee aas na jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One receives whatever one wishes for; any hope based on God’s support does not go in vain. ||pause||
ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਫਲ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਉਤੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਆਸ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ,॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
kirpaa karay jis paraanpat daataa so-ee sant gun gaavai.
The one on whom God, the Master of life, bestows mercy, acquires saintly virtues and sings His praises.
ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਣਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
paraym bhagat taa kaa man leenaa paarbarahm man bhaavai. ||2||
That person’s mind gets attuned to the loving devotional worship of God; and he becomes pleasing to the Transcendent God. ||2||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰ-ਭਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਜਸੁ ਰਵਣਾ ਬਿਖੈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਲਾਥੀ ॥
aath pahar har kaa jas ravnaa bikhai thag-uree laathee.
The influence of the deceiving potion of Maya vanished by singing God’s praises all the time;
ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ;
ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਲੀਆ ਮੇਰੈ ਕਰਤੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਾਧ ਭਏ ਸਾਥੀ ॥੩॥
sang milaa-ay lee-aa mayrai kartai sant saaDh bha-ay saathee. ||3||
my Creator united him with Himself, and saints and sages became his companions.||3||
ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੰਗੀ-ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ ॥੩॥
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਸਰਬਸੁ ਦੀਨੇ ਆਪਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
kar geh leenay sarbas deenay aapeh aap milaa-i-aa.
God extended His support and blessed him with everything; God united that person with Himself.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੭੯॥
kaho naanak sarab thok pooran pooraa satgur paa-i-aa. ||4||15||79||
Nanak says, one who met the perfect Guru and followed his teachings, all his affairs got resolved completely. ||4||15||79||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੭੯॥

ਗਰੀਬੀ ਗਦਾ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
gareebee gadaa hamaaree.
Humility is our spiked Club,
ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਸ ਗੁਰਜ ਹੈ,
ਖੰਨਾ ਸਗਲ ਰੇਨੁ ਛਾਰੀ ॥
khannaa sagal rayn chhaaree.
being humble is our double edged sword.
ਸਭ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਸ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕੋ ਨ ਟਿਕੈ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥
is aagai ko na tikai vaykaaree.
No evil-doer can survive before these weapons.
ਇਸ (ਗੁਰਜ) ਅੱਗੇ, ਇਸ (ਖੰਡੇ) ਅੱਗੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਕੁਕਰਮੀ ਟਿਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਏਹ ਗਲ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
gur pooray ayh gal saaree. ||1||
The Perfect Guru has given us this understanding. ||1||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਓਟਾ ॥
har har naam santan kee otaa.
God’s Name is the support and refuge for the saints.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੋਟਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo simrai tis kee gat hovai uDhrahi saglay kotaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who remembers God with adoration, attains higher spiritual status; this way tens of millions are saved from vices. ||pause||
ਜੇਹੜਾਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
sant sang jas gaa-i-aa.
The person who has sung God’s praises in the company of saintly people,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਇਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
ih pooran har Dhan paa-i-aa.
has received this wealth of God’s Name, which never runs out.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥
kaho naanak aap mitaa-i-aa.
Nanak says, the one who has eradicated one’s self conceit from within,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਸਭੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੮੦॥
sabh paarbarahm nadree aa-i-aa. ||2||16||80||
has experienced God pervading everywhere.||2||16||80||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਦਿੱਸ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੮੦॥

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਨੀ ॥
gur poorai pooree keenee.
One whom the perfect Guru bestowed total mercy,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਬਖਸ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ॥
bakhas apunee kar deenee.
and blessed him with the gift of devotional worship of God.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਨਿਤ ਅਨੰਦ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਥਾਵ ਸਗਲੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
nit anand sukh paa-i-aa. thaav saglay sukhee vasaa-i-aa. ||1||
The Guru freed him from vices, made him calm and he started to rejoice in lasting peace and bliss. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਫਲ ਦਾਤੀ ॥
har kee bhagat fal daatee.
The devotional service of God is very rewarding.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਜਾਤੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur poorai kirpaa kar deenee virlai kin hee jaatee. rahaa-o.
That person, on whom the perfect Guru bestowed mercy, engaged in God’s devotional worship; but only a rare person has understood its worth. ||pause||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪਰ, ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਸਮਝੀ ਹੈ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਹ ਭਾਈ ॥
gurbaanee gaavah bhaa-ee.
O’ my brothers, let us sing the divine hymns of the Guru;
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਓ ਅਸੀਂ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਿਏ।
ਓਹ ਸਫਲ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
oh safal sadaa sukh-daa-ee.
which are always fruitful and peace-giving.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੧੭॥੮੧॥
naanak naam Dhi-aa-i-aa. poorab likhi-aa paa-i-aa. ||2||17||81||
O’ Nanak! only that person, who has realized his preordained destiny, has meditated on Naam with loving devotion. ||2||17||81||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ॥੨॥੧੭॥੮੧॥
