ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਧੂਰੀ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
sun meetaa Dhooree ka-o bal jaa-ee.
Listen O’ my friend, I dedicate myself to your humble service.
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! (ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ) ਸੁਣ। ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਧੂੜ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ih man tayraa bhaa-ee. rahaa-o.
O’ my brother, even I surrender this mind to you. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਰਾ! (ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ) ਇਹ ਮਨ ਤੇਰਾ (ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰ ਬਣਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ) ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਾ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤੈ ਕੂ ਦੇਸਾ ॥
paav malovaa mal mal Dhovaa ih man tai koo daysaa.
I will wash and massage your feet; I will surrender this mind to you.
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰ ਮਲਾਂਗਾ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਲ ਮਲ ਕੇ ਧੋਵਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਹਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਆਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਉ ਦੇਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸਾ ॥੨॥
sun meetaa ha-o tayree sarnaa-ee aa-i-aa parabh mila-o dayh updaysaa. ||2||
O’ friend, listen, I have come to your refuge; give me such teachings that I may realize God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸੁਣ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਹ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੀਜੈ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਭਲਾ ਮਨਾਈਐ ॥
maan na keejai saran pareejai karai so bhalaa manaa-ee-ai.
Do not be egoistic, stay in God’s refuge and whatever He does, accept that as the best for you.
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਲਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀਜੈ ਇਉ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
sun meetaa jee-o pind sabh tan arpeejai i-o darsan har jee-o paa-ee-ai. ||3||
Listen O’ friend! we should surrender this mind, body, and everything to God, this is how we are able to experience His blessed vision. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸੁਣ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਭਇਓ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹੈ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
bha-i-o anoograhu parsaad santan kai har naamaa hai meethaa.
God’s Name becomes very pleasing to the one, on whom He bestows mercy through the Guru’s grace.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥
jan naanak ka-o gur kirpaa Dhaaree sabh akul niranjan deethaa. ||4||1||12||
The Guru bestowed mercy on the devotee Nanak and he started experiencing everywhere that immaculate God who has no lineage. ||4||1||12||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿੱਸਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੇ, ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਕੋਟਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਕੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਰੇ ॥
kot barahmand ko thaakur su-aamee sarab jee-aa kaa daataa ray.
God is the Master of millions of continents and He is also the benefactor of all beings.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਆਦਿਕ) ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਲੈ ਇਕੁ ਗੁਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਮੂਰਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
paratipaalai nit saar samaalai ik gun nahee moorakh jaataa ray. ||1||
He ever cherishes and cares for all beings, being a fool I having not appreciated any of His virtues. ||1||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਭੀ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥
har aaraaDh na jaanaa ray.
O’ brother, I don’t know how to meditate on God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਰੇ ॥
har har gur gur kartaa ray.
I just keep repeating God’s Name over and over without adoration.
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਹੀ) ‘ਹਰੀ ਹਰੀ’, ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ’ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har jee-o naam pari-o raamdaas. rahaa-o.
O’ reverend God, I do go by the name of Ram Dass, servant of God. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ “ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ” ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਸਰਬ ਘਟਾ ਭਰਪੂਰੀ ਰੇ ॥
deen da-i-aal kirpaal sukh saagar sarab ghataa bharpooree ray.
The Compassionate God, the ocean of peace is Merciful to the meek, resides in every heart.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ, ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ,
ਪੇਖਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸੰਗੇ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਦੂਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥
paykhat sunat sadaa hai sangay mai moorakh jaani-aa dooree ray. ||2||
He sees, listens, and is always with me but I have been a fool to think that He is far away. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈਆਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ-ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸਮਝ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਅੰਤੁ ਹਉ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਵਰਨਉ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਾ ਹੋਇ ਕੈਸੋ ਰੇ ॥
har bi-ant ha-o mit kar varna-o ki-aa jaanaa ho-ay kaiso ray.
God is limitless, but I can only describe Him within my limitations; what do I know what He is like?
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਕੀਹ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ?
ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਦੇਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੋ ਰੇ ॥੩॥
kara-o bayntee satgur apunay mai moorakh dayh updayso ray. ||3||
I pray to my Guru to grant me wisdom. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੩॥
ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਕੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਾਤ ਹੈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧੀ ਤਰਿਆ ਰੇ ॥
mai moorakh kee kaytak baat hai kot paraaDhee tari-aa ray.
What to talk of a foolish person like me, in Guru’s refuge even a person with millions of sins has been ferried across the worldly ocean of vices.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ,ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਤਾਂ, ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ਨ ਪਰਿਆ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੩॥
gur naanak jin suni-aa paykhi-aa say fir garbhaas na pari-aa ray. ||4||2||13||
Those people who have listened and followed the teachings of Guru Nanak did not fall in the womb again.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਏ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੩॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਜਿਨਾ ਬਾਤ ਕੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅੰਦੇਸਰੋ ਤੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
jinaa baat ko bahut andaysro tay mitay sabh ga-i-aa.
All those things that used to cause me much anxiety, have vanished.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਸਹਜ ਸੈਨ ਅਰੁ ਸੁਖਮਨ ਨਾਰੀ ਊਧ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਸਇਆ ॥੧॥
sahj sain ar sukhman naaree ooDh kamal bigsa-i-aa. ||1||
Now, I am absorbed in a state of equipoise, all my sense faculties are in peace, and I feel so delighted as if the inverted lotus of my heart has blossomed. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਠਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਲੀਨਤਾ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਦੇਖਹੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
daykhhu achraj bha-i-aa.
Behold! a wondrous miracle has happened!
ਵੇਖੋ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਇਕ ਅਨੋਖਾ ਕੌਤਕ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਹ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਉ ਸੁਨਤ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧਿ ਸੋ ਰਿਦੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਦਇਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jih thaakur ka-o sunat agaaDh boDh so ridai gur da-i-aa. rahaa-o.
The Guru has made me realize that God about whom we used to hear that He is beyond comprehension. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਬਤ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਸਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਜੋਇ ਦੂਤ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸੰਤਾਵਤ ਤੇ ਭਇਆਨਕ ਭਇਆ ॥
jo-ay doot mohi bahut santaavat tay bha-i-aanak bha-i-aa.
The demons (such as lust, anger, greed) which used to torment me in the past, have themselves become too terrified to come near me,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਵੈਰੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਤਾਇਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਹੁਣ (ਮੇਰੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਢੁਕਣੋਂ) ਡਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਕਰਹਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਮ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨਇਆ ॥੨॥
karahi bayntee raakh thaakur tay ham tayree sarna-i-aa. ||2||
and now they pray, we have come to your shelter, save us from God. ||2||
ਉਹ ਸਗੋਂ ਤਰਲੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਾਂਗੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਹ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਖੁਲਿਆ ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਤਿਹ ਲਇਆ ॥
jah bhandaar gobind kaa khuli-aa jih paraapat tih la-i-aa.
The treasure of God’s devotional worship has opened within me; but he who is predestined, receives it.
ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।,ਪਰ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਏਕੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਥਿਆ ॥੩॥
ayk ratan mo ka-o gur deenaa mayraa man tan seetal thi-aa. ||3||
The Guru has given me one such jewel, the Name of God, with it my mind and body have become peaceful and tranquil. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਰਤਨ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਏਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਦੀਨੋ ਤਾ ਅਟਲੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਨ ਮੁਆ ॥
ayk boond gur amrit deeno taa atal amar na mu-aa.
The Guru blessed me with a drop of ambrosial nectar of Naam, now I am firm against vices, and have become stable and would not die a spiritual death.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ l
ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਸਉਪੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਲਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥
bhagat bhandaar gur naanak ka-o sa-upay fir laykhaa mool na la-i-aa. ||4||3||14||
The Guru blessed Nanak with the treasure of God’s devotional worship, and after that never asked to account for any of the deeds. ||4||3||14||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗਿਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥

Raag Sorath, Fifth Guru:
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈ ॥
charan kamal si-o jaa kaa man leenaa say jan taripat aghaa-ee.
Those whose minds are imbued with the love of God, remain content and satiated from worldly desires.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਣ ਅਮੋਲ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨ ਵਸਿਆ ਤੇ ਨਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
gun amol jis ridai na vasi-aa tay nar tarisan tarikhaa-ee. ||1||
Those, within whose hearts the priceless divine virtues have not been enshrined, remain yearning for the worldly desires. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਅਰੋਗ ਅਨਦਾਈ ॥
har aaraaDhay arog andaa-ee.
By remembering God with adoration, we become spiritually healthy and blissful.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਨਰੋਏ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਨੇਹੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਖ ਬੇਦਨ ਜਣੁ ਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jis no visrai mayraa raam sanayhee tis laakh baydan jan aa-ee. rahaa-o.
But one who forgets my dear God, deem him to be afflicted with millions of sufferings. ||Pause||
ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ (ਇਉਂ) ਜਾਣੋ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਤਕਲੀਫ਼ਾਂ ਆ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
