O’ God, show mercy and save us from vices of worldly attachment.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ! (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਦੀਨ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
ham paapee ham paapee nirgun deen tumHaaray raam.
We are the meek sinners and are without any merit, but still we belong to You.
ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਹਾਂ, (ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਤੇਰੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਦੀਨ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੈਆਲ ਸਰਣਾਇਆ ॥
ham paapee nirgun deen tumHaaray har dai-aal sarnaa-i-aa.
O’ God, our merciful Master, we the worthless meek sinners of Yours but have come to Your shelter.
ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਹਾਂ, (ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਤੇਰੇ ਹਾਂ; ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਹਰੀ!
ਤੂ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਮ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰੇ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥
too dukh bhanjan sarab sukh-daata ham paathar taray taraa-i-aa.
You are the destroyer of sorrows and Bestower of all comforts; we the stone-hearted sinners can swim across and be saved, only if You help us.
ਤੂੰ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਕਠੋਰ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਤਰਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹੀ ਤਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
satgur bhayt raam ras paa-i-aa jan naanak naam uDhaaray.
O’ Nanak, upon meeting the Guru, they who have relished God’s Name, have been saved from drowning in the ocean of vices.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੇਹ ਤੇਜਣਿ ਜੀ ਰਾਮਿ ਉਪਾਈਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
dayh tayjan jee raam upaa-ee-aa raam.
Human body is like a young mare which has been brought forth in this world by God.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਘੋੜੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਧੰਨੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਪਾਈਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
Dhan maanas janam punn paa-ee-aa raam.
Fortunate is this human life, which we have been blessed with only as a result of some past virtuous deeds.
ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਲਭਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੇਹ ਸੁ ਕੰਚਨ ਚੰਗੜੀਆ ॥
maanas janam vad punnay paa-i-aa dayh so kanchan changrhee-aa.
Human beings are blessed with this body due to some past good deeds, but the human body is radiant and valuable like gold.
ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਸੋਨੇ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਚਲੂਲਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਵ ਰੰਗੜੀਆ ॥
gurmukh rang chaloolaa paavai har har har nav rangrhee-aa.
Anyone who is imbued with deep love of God through guidance of the Guru, is rejuvenated by meditating on Naam.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਰੰਗ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਏਹ ਦੇਹ ਸੁ ਬਾਂਕੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀਆ ॥
ayh dayh so baaNkee jit har jaapee har har naam suhaavee-aa.
This body is very elegant because of which I can meditate on God, and by meditating on God’s Name it becomes all the more attractive.
ਇਹ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮਿ ਉਪਾਈਆ ॥੧॥
vadbhaagee paa-ee naam sakhaa-ee jan naanak raam upaa-ee-aa. ||1||
Devotee Nanak says: God has created this human body in order for it to meditate on God. Those who befriend God’s Name, are very blessed. ||1||
ਉਸੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਤਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ) ਇਹ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਦੇਹ ਪਾਵਉ ਜੀਨੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਚੰਗਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
dayh paava-o jeen bujh changa raam.
By reflecting on the virtues of God, I put the saddle of God’s praises on my mare like body.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ-ਘੋੜੀ ਉਤੇ, ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ) ਕਾਠੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘਾ ਜੀ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
charh langhaa jee bikham bhu-i-angaa raam.
In this way riding this body-mare by meditating on God’s Name, I hope to swim across this torturous and difficult worldly ocean.
ਇੰਜ ਇਸ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਔਖੇ (ਤਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਬਿਖਮੁ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਾ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਏ ॥
bikham bhu-i-angaa anat tarangaa gurmukh paar langhaa-ay.
A very rare Guru’s follower can cross this dreadful worldly ocean in which countless waves of vices arise.
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹੀ) ਇਸ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਔਖੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਬੋਹਿਥਿ ਚੜਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਲੰਘੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਾਏ ॥
har bohith charh vadbhaagee langhai gur khayvat sabad taraa-ay.
A very rare fortunate person can cross the worldly ocean by boarding the ship of God’s Name and the Captain Guru helps such a person to cross by attuning him to Naam.
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ-ਮਲਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
an-din har rang har gun gaavai har rangee har rangaa.
The person, who by attuning to God, keeps singing His praises,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਚੰਗਾ ॥੨॥
jan naanak nirbaan pad paa-i-aa har utam har pad changa. ||2||
Devotee Nanak says: he gets attuned to Naam and gets elated to high and pure spiritual status where no worldly desire can afflict him.||2||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉੱਚਾ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਕੜੀਆਲੁ ਮੁਖੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
karhee-aal mukhay gur gi-aan drirh-aa-i-aa raam.
The person who has been blessed by God with understanding of spiritual living, this wisdom is akin to a whip of love to his body.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ (ਆਪਣੀ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ-ਘੋੜੀ ਦੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਲਗਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਾਬਕੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
tan paraym har chaabak laa-i-aa raam.
Love of God gets created in his heart which keeps whipping the body-mare.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਾਂਇਆਂ-ਘੋੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਬੁਕ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਇ ਚਾਬਕੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਤਿਆ ॥
tan paraym har har laa-ay chaabak man jinai gurmukh jeeti-aa.
The Guru’s follower conquers his mind and wins the battle of life by applying the whip of love of Naam to his mare like body.
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ-ਘੋੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਬੁਕ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਘੜੋ ਘੜਾਵੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਅਪਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਤਿਆ ॥
agh-rho gharhaavai sabad paavai api-o har ras peeti-aa.
In this way such a person trains the untrained mind with the Divine word and drinks the rejuvenating nectar of God’s Name.
ਇੰਜ ਉਹ ਅੱਲ੍ਹੜ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਘੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਤੁਰੀ ਚੜਾਇਆ ॥
sun sarvan banee gur vakhaanee har rang turee charhaa-i-aa.
Such a person attunes himself to love of God by hearing the hymns uttered by the Guru with his own ears and thus controls his mare like body.
ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਉਚਾਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ-ਘੋੜੀ ਉਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਮਹਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਿਖੜਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
mahaa maarag panth bikh-rhaa jan naanak paar langhaa-i-aa. ||3||
In this way, O’ Nanak, the Guru helps that person complete the long and hazardous journey of human life and cross the worldly ocean. ||3||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ) ਬੜਾ ਔਖਾ ਪੈਂਡਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਗੁਰੂ ਸਰਨ ਪਇਆਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਘੋੜੀ ਤੇਜਣਿ ਦੇਹ ਰਾਮਿ ਉਪਾਈਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
ghorhee tayjan dayh raam upaa-ee-aa raam.
This young and healthy human body-mare has been created by God,
ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ-ਘੋੜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਾ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਤੁਖਾਈਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
jit har parabh jaapai saa Dhan Dhan tukhaa-ee-aa raam.
Blessed is that person who meditates on God’s Name in this life; he is fortunate and gets appreciated.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸਰੀਰ-ਘੋੜੀ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਾ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਾਬਾਸੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਜੁੜੰਦਾ ॥
jit har parabh jaapai saa Dhan saabaasai Dhur paa-i-aa kirat jurhandaa.
That person who meditates on God’s Name is truly blessed; he has been blessed with this body through the past accumulated good deeds.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸਰੀਰ-ਘੋੜੀ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕੱਠ ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਚੜਿ ਦੇਹੜਿ ਘੋੜੀ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਲਘਾਏ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥
charh dayharh ghorhee bikham laghaa-ay mil gurmukh parmaanandaa.
O’ my friend, ride and control this beautiful body-mare which helps us cross the torturous worldly ocean, and thus by Guru’s grace meet God Who is the source of Supreme Bliss.
ਇਸ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ-ਘੋੜੀ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ, ਜੋ ਔਖੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਜੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੰਞ ਆਈ ॥
har har kaaj rachaa-i-aa poorai mil sant janaa janj aa-ee.
The Perfect God has arranged the union of such a soul-bride with Himself and it seems like His marriage party along with the holy congregants has arrived at the house of the soul-bride’s heart.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਵਿਆਹ ਰਚਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਤ ਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੰਞ ਆ ਗਈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥
jan naanak har var paa-i-aa mangal mil sant janaa vaaDhaa-ee. ||4||1||5||
O’ Devotee Nanak, the soul-bride has realised God as her spouse. Upon joining with the saintly persons, she is rejuvenated and sounds of festive music start within her. ||4||1||5||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ (ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਦੀਆਨੇ ਵੱਜ ਪਏ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥

Wadahans, Fourth Guru:
ਦੇਹ ਤੇਜਨੜੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਵ ਰੰਗੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
dayh tayjnarhee har nav rangee-aa raam.
This body is like a beautiful female horse, which remains imbued with the ever fresh love of God.
(ਮਾਨੋ) ਉਹ ਕਾਂਇਆਂ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਘੋੜੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਗੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
gur gi-aan guroo har mangee-aa raam.
It keeps requesting for the Divine knowledge from the Guru.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੂਝ ਮੰਗਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਮੰਗਦੀ ਹੈ,
