ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਜੀਜੀਐ ॥
khaan paan seegaar birthay har kant bin ki-o jeejee-ai.
Without the remembrance of God, all kinds of food, drink and decorations are useless; how can I survive without my Husband-God?
ਸਾਰੇ ਖਾਣ ਪੀਣ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਉ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ?
ਆਸਾ ਪਿਆਸੀ ਰੈਨਿ ਦਿਨੀਅਰੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੈ ॥
aasaa pi-aasee rain dinee-ar reh na sakee-ai ik tilai.
I always yearn for Him. I cannot live without Him, even for an instant.
ਰਾਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਹੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਰਸਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਿਹਾਈ ਹਾਂ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚ ਸਕਦੀ
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਦਾਸੀ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥੨॥
naanak pa-i-ampai sant daasee ta-o parsaad mayraa pir milai. ||2||
Nanak prays, O’ Saintly Guru, I am Your devotee; by Your grace, I can realize my Husband-God. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਆ ਬਣੀ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਤੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
sayj ayk pari-o sang daras na paa-ee-ai raam.
Although He dwells within my heart, still I cannot realize Him.
ਮੇਰੀ ਇਸ ਇਕੋ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ!
ਅਵਗਨ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਤ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥
avgan mohi anayk kat mahal bulaa-ee-ai raam.
There are innumerable faults in me, so how could I be called to His presence ?
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਦਿਆ ਭੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਏ? ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ (ਤਾਂ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਅਉਗਣ ਹਨ।
ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਅਨਾਥਿ ਬਿਨਵੈ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧੇ ॥
nirgun nimaanee anaath binvai milhu parabh kirpaa niDhay.
I am without any virtues, I am humble and helpless , O’ the treasure of mercy, I plead, unite me with you.
ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ, ਨਿਮਾਣੀ, ਨਿਆਸਰੀ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ।
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੀਤਿ ਖੋਈਐ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੋਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਲਕ ਪੇਖਤ ਨਵ ਨਿਧੇ ॥
bharam bheet kho-ee-ai sahj so-ee-ai parabh palak paykhat nav niDhay.
O’ the Master of all the nine treasures, just by seeing Your sight for an instant, the wall of doubt gets demolished and intuitively I merge in peace
ਹੇ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਕ ਪਲਕ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਲਾਲੁ ਆਵੈ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
garihi laal aavai mahal paavai mil sang mangal gaa-ee-ai.
When the beloved husband-God is realized in the heart and the soul-bride experiences union with Him, then joining with her friends, she sings songs of joy.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਦਿਖਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
naanak pa-i-ampai sant sarnee mohi daras dikhaa-ee-ai. ||3||
O’ Guru, Nanak has come to your refuge, show me the blessed vision of my beloved Husband-God. ||3||
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਾ ਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
santan kai parsaad har har paa-i-aa raam.
Through the grace of the Guru, I have realized God.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
ichh punnee man saaNt tapat bujhaa-i-aa raam.
My wish is fulfilled, my mind is calmed and my torment has ended.
ਮੇਰੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਬੁੱਝ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਸਫਲਾ ਸੁ ਦਿਨਸ ਰੈਣੇ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸੁ ਘਨਾ ॥
saflaa so dinas rainay suhaavee anad mangal ras ghanaa.
Fruitful is the day, and beauteous is the night, and countless are the joys, celebrations and pleasures.
ਫਲਦਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ, ਸ਼ੋਭਨੀਕ ਉਹ ਰਾਤ ਅਤੇ ਘਣੇਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ, ਮਲ੍ਹਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗ-ਰਲੀਆਂ,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਲਾਲਨ ਕਵਨ ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਭਨਾ ॥
pargatay gupaal gobind laalan kavan rasnaa gun bhanaa.
The Master of the universe has manifested in my heart, and I don’t know what kind of songs of His praise I may sing with my tongue.
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜੀ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਦੱਸਾਂ?
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਥਾਕੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਖੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
bharam lobh moh bikaar thaakay mil sakhee mangal gaa-i-aa.
Now all my doubts, greed, worldly attachment and all other evil tendencies have gone away; joining with my companions, I sing the songs of joy.
ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ, ਲਾਲਚ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਐਬ ਮਿੱਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੰਤ ਜੰਪੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
naanak pa-i-ampai sant jampai jin har har sanjog milaa-i-aa. ||4||2||
Nanak submits, he worships the Guru who has arranged union with his beloved God. ||4||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
kar kirpaa gur paarbarahm pooray an-din naam vakhaanaa raam.
O’ my perfect all pervading Divine-Guru, show mercy that, I may always meditate on Your Name.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼ਵਰ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਿਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
amrit banee uchraa har jas mithaa laagai tayraa bhaanaa raam.
I may keep reciting the Guru’s ambrosial words of God’s praises and Your command may seem sweet to me.
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਰਹੇ।
ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨਾ ॥
kar da-i-aa ma-i-aa gopaal gobind ko-ay naahee tujh binaa.
O’ God of the universe, bestow Your mercy and benevolence on me, because beside You I have no one else to look for support.
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਦਇਆ ਕਰ, ਤਰਸ ਕਰ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸਮਰਥ ਅਗਥ ਅਪਾਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਜੀਉ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਨਾ ॥॥
samrath agath apaar pooran jee-o tan Dhan tumH manaa.
O’ the all-powerful, indescribable, limitless and perfect God, my body, mind, and riches are Yours.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਅਕੱਥ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ! ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ, ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਇਹ ਧਨ-ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਨਾਥ ਚੰਚਲ ਬਲਹੀਨ ਨੀਚ ਅਜਾਣਾ ॥
moorakh mugaDh anaath chanchal balheen neech ajaanaa.
I am ignorant, unwise, halpless, fickle minded, lowly and an ignorant person.
ਮੈਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਨਿਆਸਰਾ ਹਾਂ, ਚੰਚਲ, ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ, ਨੀਚ ਤੇ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਹਾਂ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
binvant naanak saran tayree rakh layho aavan jaanaa. ||1||
Nanak submits, I have come to Your refuge, save me from the cycle of birth and death. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਧਹ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
saaDhah sarnee paa-ee-ai har jee-o gun gaavah har neetaa raam.
God is realized by following the Guru’s teachings, and we can always sing the glorious praises of God.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਧੂਰਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲਗਉ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਭ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
Dhoor bhagtan kee man tan laga-o har jee-o sabh patit puneetaa raam.
O’ reverend God, I wish that the dust of the feet of the saints (the essence of their immaculate teachings), which sanctifies all sinners, might touch and purify my body and mind.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਰਹੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਤਿਤਾ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਹੋਹਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
patitaa puneetaa hohi tinH sang jinH biDhaataa paa-i-aa.
The sinners are sanctified in the company of those who have realized God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮ ਰਾਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਦਾਤੇ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਹਿ ਚੜਹਿ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
naam raatay jee-a daatay nit deh charheh savaa-i-aa.
Imbued with the Naam, they become capable of giving gifts of spiritual life; they keep giving these gifts, which keep multiplying everyday
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੰਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ-ਜੋਗੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਨਿੱਤ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਵਧਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਆਤਮੁ ਜੀਤਾ ॥
riDh siDh nav niDh har jap jinee aatam jeetaa.
The supernatural powers of the Siddhas and the nine treasures come to those who have conquered their own mind by meditating on God .
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਸਭ ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੨॥
binvant naanak vadbhaag paa-ee-ah saaDh saajan meetaa. ||2||
Nanak submits, it is only with great fortune that we obtain the company of saintly friends and mates. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
jinee sach vananji-aa har jee-o say pooray saahaa raam.
Perfect bankers are those, who deal in treasure of God’s Name.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਹਨ,
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਤਿੰਨ ਪਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
bahut khajaanaa tinn peh har jee-o har keertan laahaa raam.
They have an immense wealth of God’s Name; in this trade, they earn the profit of God’s praise.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਬਹੁਤ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਇਸ ਵਪਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਦੀ) ਖੱਟੀ ਖੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨ ਲੋਭੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤਿਆ ॥
kaam kroDh na lobh bi-aapai jo jan parabh si-o raati-aa.
Lust, anger and greed do not cling to those who are attuned to God.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਕਾਮ, ਨਾਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਹ ਲੋਭ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਏਕੁ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਤਿਆ ॥
ayk jaaneh ayk maaneh raam kai rang maati-aa.
They realize and believe in one God and remain elated with God’s Love.
ਉਹ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਪੱਕਾ ਸਾਥੀ) ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਲਗਿ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਣੀ ਪੜੇ ਸਰਣੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਿਨਾ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥
lag sant charnee parhay sarnee man tinaa omaahaa.
They follow the Guru’s teachings, they remember God; their minds are filled with joy.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਉ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਲੈ ਸੇਈ ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਾ ॥੩॥
binvant naanak jin naam palai say-ee sachay saahaa. ||3||
Nanak submits that they who have the wealth of Naam in their possession are the truly rich bankers. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਐਸੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਈ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
naanak so-ee simree-ai har jee-o jaa kee kal Dhaaree raam.
O’ Nanak, we should only worship that God whose power is supporting the entire universe.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸਦਾ) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੱਤਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
