ਬਲਵੰਤਿ ਬਿਆਪਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਭ ਮਹੀ ॥
balvant bi-aap rahee sabh mahee.
The powerful Maya is afflicting everybody.
ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਕੋਊ ਮਰਮਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਲਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar na jaanas ko-oo marmaa gur kirpaa tay lahee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Nobody knows the secret of escaping from it; the secret to bring it under control is obtained by the Guru’s grace. ||1||Pause||
ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ) ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ। (ਇਹ ਭੇਤ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੀਤਿ ਜੀਤਿ ਜੀਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਥਾਨਾ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਨ ਲਪਟਹੀ ॥
jeet jeet jeetay sabh thaanaa sagal bhavan laptahee.
One after other, Maya has conquered all places and has put its stranglehold around the people of all the worlds.
ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰ੍ਰਬਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਥਾਂ ਜਿੱਤਦੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਵਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਚੰਬੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਤੇ ਭਾਗੀ ਹੋਇ ਚੇਰੀ ਚਰਨ ਗਹੀ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੪॥
kaho naanak saaDh tay bhaagee ho-ay chayree charan gahee. ||2||5||14||
Nanak says, Maya has conceded to the Guru; becoming his servant, it serves him. ||2||5||14||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਭੱਜੀ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨ ਫੜਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੪॥

ਦੁਇ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
du-ay kar jorh karee baynantee thaakur apnaa Dhi-aa-i-aa.
With folded hands, when I offered my prayer before God and remembered Him with loving devotion,
ਦੋਨੋਂ ਹੱਥ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ
ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਰਤੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
haath day-ay raakhay parmaysar saglaa durat mitaa-i-aa. ||1||
Blessing me His support, God saved me from vices and erased my all sufferings and sins. ||1||
ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੇ ॥੧॥
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
thaakur ho-ay aap da-i-aal.
Those on whom God Himself becomes merciful,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਭਈ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਆਨੰਦ ਰੂਪ ਹੁਈ ਹੈ ਉਬਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bha-ee kali-aan aanand roop hu-ee hai ubray baal gupaal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
a state of emancipation and bliss arises in them, and they, the young children of God, are saved from drowning in the worldly ocean of vices. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ (ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਏ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਬੱਚੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਇਆਂ) ਆਨੰਦ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਿਲਿ ਵਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥
mil var naaree mangal gaa-i-aa thaakur kaa jaikaar.
Meeting the Husband-God, the soul-bride sang the songs of joy and applauded the Master-God.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਨਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ, ਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਫਤ੍ਹੇ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੫॥
kaho naanak tis gur balihaaree jin sabh kaa kee-aa uDhaar. ||2||6||15||
Nanak says, I am dedicated to that Guru who has liberated all. ||2||6||15||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਸਰਨ ਆਏ) ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੫॥

ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਬਲੁ ਹੈ ਥੋਰਾ ॥
maat pitaa bhaa-ee sut banDhap tin kaa bal hai thoraa.
Mother, father, siblings, children and relatives – their power is insignificant.
ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਭਰਾ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਪੇਖੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਭੋਰਾ ॥੧॥
anik rang maa-i-aa kay paykhay kichh saath na chaalai bhoraa. ||1||
I have seen the many pleasures of Maya, but none goes with us in the end. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੀ) ਕੁਝ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਹਿ ਨ ਮੋਰਾ ॥
thaakur tujh bin aahi na moraa.
O’ Master, other than You, no one is mine.
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ (ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਆਹਿਓ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰਾ ਧੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mohi anaath nirgun gun naahee mai aahi-o tumHraa Dhoraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I am a worthless orphan, devoid of virtues; I long for Your Support. ||1||Pause||
ਮੈਂ ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਚਰਣ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੇ ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਾ ਜੋਰਾ ॥
bal bal bal bal charan tumHaaray eehaa oohaa tumHaaraa joraa.
O’God, I am forever dedicated to Your Name; I depend on the support of Your power both here and hereafter.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੬॥
saaDhsang naanak daras paa-i-o binsi-o sagal nihoraa. ||2||7||16||
O’ Nanak, one who, in the holy congregation, has experienced the vision of God, his dependence on others has ended.||2||7||16||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! -ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੬॥

Raag Goojree, Fifth Guru:
ਆਲ ਜਾਲ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਤਜਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਈ ॥
aal jaal bharam moh tajaavai parabh saytee rang laa-ee.
The Guru, through his teachings, helps a person in getting rid of worldly bonds, doubts and emotional attachments and imbues him with love of God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ, ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਮੋਹ ਛਡਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਇਹ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥
man ka-o ih updays darirh-aavai sahj sahj gun gaa-ee. ||1||
The Guru implants this teaching in the disciple’s min that in a state of peace and poise, he should keep singing God’s praises. ||1||
ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਜਨ ਐਸੋ ਸੰਤੁ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
saajan aiso sant sahaa-ee.
O’ friend, the Guru is such a helper,
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਗੁਰੂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤੂਟਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jis bhaytay tooteh maa-i-aa banDh bisar na kabahooN jaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
that by meeting and following his teachings the bonds of Maya are broken and one never forgets God. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਦੇ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਰਤ ਕਰਤ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ ਨੀਕੀ ਇਹ ਠਹਰਾਈ ॥
karat karat anik baho bhaatee neekee ih thahraa-ee.
Continuously doing various rituals and deeds in so many ways, ultimately I have come to this best decision,
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਘਣੇਰਿਆਂ ਤ੍ਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ,ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮੈਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੭॥
mil saaDhoo har jas gaavai naanak bhavjal paar paraa-ee. ||2||8||17||
that by joining the company of the Guru, he who sings praises of God,O’ Nanak,swims across the terrifying world-ocean of vices. ||2||8||17||
ਕਿ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੭॥

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਕਰੀ ॥
khin meh thaap uthaapanhaaraa keemat jaa-ay na karee.
In an instant, God can create or destroy anything; the worth of His power cannot be described.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਰਾਜਾ ਰੰਕੁ ਕਰੈ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਨੀਚਹ ਜੋਤਿ ਧਰੀ ॥੧॥
raajaa rank karai khin bheetar neechah jot Dharee. ||1||
In an instant, God reduces a king to a pauper and infuses splendor into the lowly person. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਅਖਵਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉੱਤਮਤਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਭਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ॥੧॥
ਧਿਆਈਐ ਅਪਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ॥
Dhi-aa-ee-ai apno sadaa haree.
We should always remember our eternal God with reverence.
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੀ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋਚ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੀਐ ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਏਕ ਘਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
soch andaysaa taa kaa kahaa karee-ai jaa meh ayk gharee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Why think or worry about the world, where the stay is only for a very brief period. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੋਈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭਰ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ?
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਪੂਰੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਪਰੀ ॥
tumHree tayk pooray mayray satgur man saran tumHaarai paree.
O’ my Guru, I depend only upon Your support; my mind has sought Your refuge.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਚੇਤ ਇਆਨੇ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਰੀ ॥੨॥੯॥੧੮॥
achayt i-aanay baarik naanak ham tum raakho Dhaar karee. ||2||9||18||
O’ God, we are Your ignorant children, extend Your support and save us from the love of worldly attachments, says Nanak. ||2||9||18||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ (ਸਾਡੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਧਰ ਕੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੨॥੯॥੧੮॥

tooN daataa jee-aa sabhnaa kaa bashu mayray man maahee.
O’ God, You are the giver of all beings; remain enshrined in my mind forever.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ; ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹੁ।
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਤਹ ਭਰਮੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
charan kamal rid maahi samaa-ay tah bharam anDhayraa naahee. ||1||
There remains no doubt and darkness of ignorance in the heart, within which You are enshrined. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਜਾ ਸਿਮਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਹੀ ॥
thaakur jaa simraa tooN taahee.
O’ my Master-God, wherever I remember You, there I find You.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੈਂ ਜਦੋਂ (ਜਿੱਥੇ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ (ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈਂ)।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirpaa sarab partipaalak parabh ka-o sadaa salaahee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ God, the cherisher of all, bestow mercy and bless me that I may sing Your praises forever. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਉ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਹੀ ॥
saas saas tayraa naam samaara-o tum hee ka-o parabh aahee.
O’ God, bless me that I may remember Your Name with every breath and I may keep longing for You alone.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਰੱਖਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਟੇਕ ਭਈ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਹੋਰ ਆਸ ਬਿਡਾਣੀ ਲਾਹੀ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੧੯॥
naanak tayk bha-ee kartay kee hor aas bidaanee laahee. ||2||10||19||
O’ Nanak; I have the support of the Creator-God, I have renounced all other hopes. ||2||10||19||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ; ਹੋਰ ਬਿਗਾਨੀ ਆਸ ਮੈਂ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੧੯॥।
