ਜੀਵਨੈ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਮੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ਸਾਸਾ ॥
jeevnai kee aas karahi jam nihaarai saasaa.
O’ mortal, you are hoping for a long life while the demon of death is counting your few remaining breaths.
ਤੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਊਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਉਧਰ ਜਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਹ ਤੱਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਗਿਣ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਦੋਂ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਾਜੀਗਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਚੇਤਿ ਢਾਲਿ ਪਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੧॥੨੩॥

ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਜਗਤ ਨਟ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਦਾ ਪਾਸਾ ਸੁੱਟ ॥੩॥੧॥੨੩॥

ਤਨੁ ਰੈਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਪੁਨ ਰਪਿ ਕਰਿ ਹਉ ਪਾਚਉ ਤਤ ਬਰਾਤੀ ॥
tan rainee man pun rap kar ha-o paacha-o tat baraatee.
Using my body as a dyer’s vat, I have imbued my mind with virtues; and the five divine virtues (truth, contentment, compassion, humility and love) are the members of my marriage party.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਲਲਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੱਟੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਭਲੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੈਵੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਮੇਲੀ (ਜਾਂਞੀ) ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਸਿਉ ਭਾਵਰਿ ਲੈਹਉ ਆਤਮ ਤਿਹ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੧॥
raam raa-ay si-o bhaavar laiha-o aatam tih rang raatee. ||1||
I am now taking marriage vows with Husband-God, the sovereign king and my soul is imbued with His love.||1||
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਗਤ-ਪਤੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਵਾਂ ਲੈ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗਾਉ ਗਾਉ ਰੀ ਦੁਲਹਨੀ ਮੰਗਲਚਾਰਾ ॥
gaa-o gaa-o ree dulhanee mangalchaaraa.
O’ my bridesmaids (sensory organs), sing the songs of festivity,
ਹੇ ਨਵੀਓਂ ਵਹੁਟੀਓ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਓ!) ਤੁਸੀ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਓ,
ਮੇਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਏ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਭਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mayray garih aa-ay raajaa raam bhataaraa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
because I have realized my Husband-God, the sovereign King, in my heart. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲ ਮਹਿ ਬੇਦੀ ਰਚਿ ਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਉਚਾਰਾ ॥
naabh kamal meh baydee rach lay barahm gi-aan uchaaraa.
I have made the lotus of my navel like a bridal pavilion (to remember Him with each breath) and divine words are being uttered as the wedding mantras.
ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ (ਵਿਆਹ ਲਈ) ਵੇਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਵਿਆਹ ਦਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ) ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਸੋ ਦੂਲਹੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਅਸ ਬਡਭਾਗ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
raam raa-ay so doolahu paa-i-o as badbhaag hamaaraa. ||2||
Such a great is my destiny that I have realized God, the sovereign King, as my husband. |2||
ਮੇਰੇ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਰਗਾ ਲਾੜਾ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਕਉਤਕ ਆਏ ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਉਜਾਨਾਂ ॥
sur nar mun jan ka-utak aa-ay kot taytees ujaanaaN.
I feel as if the angles, the sages and millions of other deities (my spiritual companions) have have come in their heavenly chariots to see this spectacular wedding .
ਦੇਵਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੌਨੀ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਤੀ ਕ੍ਰੋੜ ਦੇਵ, ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਡਣ-ਖਟੋਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਯ ਵੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਆਏ ਹਨ।
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਹਿ ਚਲੇ ਹੈ ਪੁਰਖ ਏਕ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ॥੩॥੨॥੨੪॥
kahi kabeer mohi bi-aahi chalay hai purakh ayk bhagvaanaa. ||3||2||24||
Kabir say, now the one supreme God has wedded me (united me with Himself) ||3||2||24||

saas kee dukhee sasur kee pi-aaree jayth kay naam dara-o ray.
I am bothered by Maya, I am in love with my body and I am affraid of death
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਸ-ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹਾਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸਹੁਰੇ-ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਲਾਡਲੀ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਠ-ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡਰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਨਨਦ ਗਹੇਲੀ ਦੇਵਰ ਕੈ ਬਿਰਹਿ ਜਰਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
sakhee sahaylee nanad gahaylee dayvar kai bireh jara-o ray. ||1||
O’ my friends and mates, I am in the grip of my sensory organs and I am suffering due to lack of divine knowledge. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਓ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਨਾਣ (ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ) ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਦਿਉਰ (ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧੀ) ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੇ-ਅੰਦਰ ਸੜ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੀ ਮਤਿ ਬਉਰੀ ਮੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਓ ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਹਨਿ ਰਹਉ ਰੇ ॥
mayree mat ba-uree mai raam bisaari-o kin biDh rahan raha-o ray.
I have lost my mind because I have forsaken God; how am I going to spend my life?
ਮੇਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਮਾਰੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ (ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਵੇਂ ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ?
ਸੇਜੈ ਰਮਤੁ ਨੈਨ ਨਹੀ ਪੇਖਉ ਇਹੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾ ਸਉ ਕਹਉ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sayjai ramat nain nahee paykha-o ih dukh kaa sa-o kaha-o ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
To whom may I describe my sorrow that God dwells in my heart but I cannot see Him with my spiritually blind eyes? ||1||Pause||
ਇਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾਵਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਸੇਜ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬਾਪੁ ਸਾਵਕਾ ਕਰੈ ਲਰਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਦ ਮਤਵਾਰੀ ॥
baap saavkaa karai laraa-ee maa-i-aa sad matvaaree.
My body always keeps fighting with me for sustenance and Maya, the worldly desires, make me completely crazy.
ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਦਾ ਖਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ), ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਝੱਲੀ ਕਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।‘
ਬਡੇ ਭਾਈ ਕੈ ਜਬ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਤੀ ਤਬ ਹਉ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨॥
baday bhaa-ee kai jab sang hotee tab ha-o naah pi-aaree. ||2||
In the mother’s womb, I was remembering God and was dear to Him.||2||
ਜਦੋਂ (ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ) ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੀਰ (ਗਿਆਨ) ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂ ਤਦੋਂ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਸਾਂ ਤੇ) ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਸਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਪੰਚ ਕੋ ਝਗਰਾ ਝਗਰਤ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
kahat kabeer panch ko jhagraa jhagrat janam gavaa-i-aa.
Kabeer says, everyone is entangled in the strife with the five vices (lust, anger, greed, attachment and ego) and are wasting away their life.
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਸਾਰੇ ਜਹਾਨ ਦਾ ਵਾਸਤਾ ਪੰਜ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਮਰ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਗਵਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ
ਝੂਠੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਾਧਿਆ ਮੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥੩॥੨੫॥
jhoothee maa-i-aa sabh jag baaDhi-aa mai raam ramat sukh paa-i-aa. ||3||3||25||
The entire world is in the grip of false worldly riches and power, but I have attained celestial peace by meditating on God’s Name. ||3||3||25||
ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਠਗਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਬੱਝਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੩॥੨੫॥

ham ghar soot taneh nit taanaa kanth janay-oo tumaaray.
O’ Brahmin, you are proud of this small thread around your neck which you call Janaiyu; but being a weaver,loads of such threads are lying around in my house, with which I daily weave
ਹੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ! ਤੇਰੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਜਨੇਊ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਸੂਤਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਨਿੱਤ ਤਾਣਾ ਤਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਤਉ ਬੇਦ ਪੜਹੁ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
tumH ta-o bayd parhahu gaa-itaree gobind ridai hamaaray. ||1||
You read the Vedas and utter sacred hymns, while I have enshrined God, the Master of the universe, in my heart. ||1||
ਤੁਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਵੇਦ ਤੇ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਨਿਰੇ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਨੈਨ ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਹਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਾ ॥
mayree jihbaa bisan nain naaraa-in hirdai baseh gobindaa.
God is so near and dear to me as if on my tongue resides Vishnu, in my eyes is Narayan and in my heart resides Gobinda.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਭ ਉੱਤੇ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਮ ਦੁਆਰ ਜਬ ਪੂਛਸਿ ਬਵਰੇ ਤਬ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਸਿ ਮੁਕੰਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jam du-aar jab poochhas bavray tab ki-aa kahas mukandaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ crazy Brahmin Mukand, what will be your answer when you will be interrogated by God in the presence of the demon of death? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪਗਲੇ ਮੁਕੰਦ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਪੁੱਛ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਕੀਹ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ
ਹਮ ਗੋਰੂ ਤੁਮ ਗੁਆਰ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਰਖਵਾਰੇ ॥
ham goroo tum gu-aar gusaa-ee janam janam rakhvaaray.
O’ Brahmins, from many previous lives we have been like your cows and you have been like our herdsman and protectors,
ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਗਾਈਆਂ ਬਣੇ ਰਹੇ, ਤੁਸੀ (ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਲੋਕ) ਸਾਡੇ ਗੁਆਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਬਣੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ,
ਕਬਹੂੰ ਨ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਚਰਾਇਹੁ ਕੈਸੇ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
kabahooN na paar utaar charaa-ihu kaisay khasam hamaaray. ||2||
but you never imparted wisdom to us to swim across the world-ocean of vices; what kind of masters are you?||2||
ਪਰ ਤੁਸਾਂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਦੀਓਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਹ ਚਾਰਿਆ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ ਮੱਤ ਨਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ) ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੇਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ? ॥੨॥
ਤੂੰ ਬਾਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਨੁ ਮੈ ਕਾਸੀਕ ਜੁਲਹਾ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਮੋਰ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
tooN baamHan mai kaaseek julhaa boojhhu mor gi-aanaa.
I agree that you are a Brahmin and I am but a weaver from Kashi, but try to appreciate my divine understanding.
ਤੂੰ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਜੁਲਾਹ ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਗਾ।
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਤਉ ਜਾਚੇ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਉ ਮੋਰ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥੩॥੪॥੨੬॥
tumH ta-o jaachay bhoopat raajay har sa-o mor Dhi-aanaa. ||3||4||26||
You go and beg from the kings and emperors, whereas I am attuned to God Himself.||3||4||26||
ਤੁਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੪॥੨੬॥

ਜਗਿ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਐਸਾ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਜੈਸਾ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਸੁਪਨ ਸਮਾਨੰ ॥
jag jeevan aisaa supnay jaisaa jeevan supan samaanaN.
The life in the world is like a dream, yes the life is false like a dream.
ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੈ, ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਮ ਗਾਠਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੰ ॥੧॥
saach kar ham gaath deenee chhod param niDhaanaN. ||1||
Believing it to be true, we are firmly attached to the dream-like life and have abandoned God, the supreme treasure of celestial peace. ||1||
ਪਰ ਅਸਾਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਗੰਢ ਦੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਬਾਬਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਹਿਤੁ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥
baabaa maa-i-aa moh hit keenH.
O’ my respected friend, we are imbued with the love of Maya, the worldly riches and power,
ਹੇ ਬਾਬਾ! ਅਸਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ-ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin gi-aan ratan hir leenH. ||1|| rahaa-o.
which has taken the jewel like spiritual wisdom away from us. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡਾ ਗਿਆਨ-ਰੂਪ ਹੀਰਾ ਚੁਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨੈਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਤੰਗੁ ਉਰਝੈ ਪਸੁ ਨ ਦੇਖੈ ਆਗਿ ॥
nain daykh patang urjhai pas na daykhai aag.
A moth is attracted by the light but the foolish insect doesn’t see the fire which is going to burn him.
ਭੰਬਟ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਦੀਵੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਟ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੂਰਖ ਅੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ।
ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਨ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਚੇਤੈ ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨਿ ਲਾਗਿ ॥੨॥
kaal faas na mugaDh chaytai kanik kaamin laag. ||2||
Similarly, the foolish person infatuated with wealth and lust does not remember the noose of death. ||2||
(ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ) ਮੂਰਖ ਜੀਵ ਸੋਨੇ ਤੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਕਰਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਸੋਇ ॥
kar bichaar bikaar parhar taran taaran so-ay.
Abandon the evil pursuits and reflect upon this that God is like a ship to carry you across the world-ocean of vices.
ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ, ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ,
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਐਸਾ ਦੁਤੀਅ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥੫॥੨੭॥
kahi kabeer jagjeevan aisaa dutee-a naahee ko-ay. ||3||5||27||
Kabeer says, God is such a support of our life that there is none other like Him. ||3||5||27||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਸਾਡੇ) ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੫॥੨੭॥
