ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਖਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
jan naanak ka-o har bakhsi-aa har bhagat bhandaaraa. ||2||
O’ Nanak, God has blessed me the treasure of His devotional worship.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ
ਹਮ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਥਰਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੂੰ ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
ham ki-aa gun tayray vithreh su-aamee tooN apar apaaro raam raajay.
O’ God, what virtues of Yours can we describe? You are beyond any limit.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਣ ਕੇ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ? ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਹ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਏਹਾ ਆਸ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥
har naam saalaahah din raat ayhaa aas aaDhaaro.
We sing praises of God, day and night; this alone is our hope and support.
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਦਿਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਡੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ਇਹੀ।
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਿਛੂਅ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਾ ਕਿਵ ਪਾਵਹ ਪਾਰੋ ॥
ham moorakh kichhoo-a na jaanhaa kiv paavah paaro.
We spiritually ignorant people do not know anything. How can we find Your limits?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ?
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੋ ॥੩॥
jan naanak har kaa daas hai har daas panihaaro. ||3||
Nanak is not only the servant of God, but also the servant of His devotees.
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੈ l
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੈ ਹਮ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਏ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
ji-o bhaavai ti-o raakh lai ham saran parabh aa-ay raam raajay.
O’ God, we have come to Your sanctuary, save us as it pleases You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਹੁਣ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ (ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।
ਹਮ ਭੂਲਿ ਵਿਗਾੜਹ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਏ ॥
ham bhool vigaarhah dinas raat har laaj rakhaa-ay.
O’ God, day and night we are making mistakes and ruining ourselves spiritually, please save our honor.
ਅਸੀਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਸਾਡੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ।
ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਦੇ ਮਤਿ ਸਮਝਾਏ ॥
ham baarik tooN gur pitaa hai day mat samjhaa-ay.
O’ God, we are the children; You are our Guru and father. Please give us understanding and right instruction.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਂਢਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਏ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੭॥
jan naanak daas har kaaNdhi-aa har paij rakhaa-ay. ||4||10||17||
O’ God, Nanak is known as Your servant (devotee), please preserve the honor of Your devotee.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ l

Raag Aasaa, Fourth Guru:
ਜਿਨ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
jin mastak Dhur har likhi-aa tinaa satgur mili-aa raam raajay.
O’ God, they who have the preordained destiny, meet the True Guru.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲਿਖ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਘਟਿ ਬਲਿਆ ॥
agi-aan anDhayraa kati-aa gur gi-aan ghat bali-aa.
By the Guru’s grace their darkness of ignorance is dispelled and their minds are illuminated with the spiritual wisdom blessed by the Guru.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਚਮਕ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਲਧਾ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਚਲਿਆ ॥
har laDhaa ratan padaaratho fir bahurh na chali-aa.
They find the precious jewel like God’s Name, which (once enshrined in their mind) is never lost again.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਰਤਨ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੁੜ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਦੇ) ਗੁਆਚਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
jan naanak naam aaraaDhi-aa aaraaDh har mili-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, they who meditate on God’s Name with loving devotion, they merge with Him through meditation.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜਿਨੀ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਜਗਿ ਆਏ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
jinee aisaa har naam na chayti-o say kaahay jag aa-ay raam raajay.
They who have not lovingly meditated on God’s Name, why did they even come into the world?
ਅਜੇਹਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਹਦੇ ਲਈ ਜੰਮੇ?
ਇਹੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਦੁਲੰਭੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਏ ॥
ih maanas janam dulambh hai naam binaa birthaa sabh jaa-ay.
It is so difficult to obtain this human body, and without Naam, it all goes to waste.
ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਣਿ ਵਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਬੀਜਿਓ ਅਗੈ ਭੁਖਾ ਕਿਆ ਖਾਏ ॥
hun vatai har naam na beeji-o agai bhukhaa ki-aa khaa-ay.
if he does not plant the seed of God’s Name (meditate on God’s Name) at the right opportunity (human life), then how will the spiritually hungry soul survive in the world hereafter?
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਢੁਕਵੇਂ ਸਮੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੀਜਦਾ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਆਤਮ-ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਭੁਖ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਟੇਗਾ?
ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ॥੨॥
manmukhaa no fir janam hai naanak har bhaa-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, the self-willed persons are born again and again, such is God’s Will.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਚੱਕਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ), ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਾਏ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
tooN har tayraa sabh ko sabh tuDh upaa-ay raam raajay.
O’ God, You belong to all, and all belong to You. You created all.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਭਿ ਚਲਹਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
kichh haath kisai dai kichh naahee sabh chaleh chalaa-ay.
Nothing is in anyone’s hands; they all live in whatever way You make them to live.
ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਤੋਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
jinH tooN mayleh pi-aaray say tuDh mileh jo har man bhaa-ay.
O’ Beloved God, You cause only those to be united with You, who are pleasing to Your Mind.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰਾਏ ॥੩॥
jan naanak satgur bhayti-aa har naam taraa-ay. ||3||
O’ Nanak, they who meet and follow the true Guru’s teachings, he helps them cross the worldly ocean of vices through meditation on God’s Name.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਕੋਈ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਗੀ ਨਾਦੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭੀਜੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
ko-ee gaavai raagee naadee baydee baho bhaat kar nahee har har bheejai raam raajay.
Some praise His virtues through musical Ragas, and some blow horn, some read the Vedas, and in so many other ways they try to please God. But God is not pleased by any of these.
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰਾਗ ਗਾ ਕੇ, ਕੋਈ ਸੰਖ ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਜ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ, ਕੋਈ ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਨਾ ਰੋਇ ਕਿਆ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
jinaa antar kapat vikaar hai tinaa ro-ay ki-aa keejai.
Those who are filled with fraud and vices – what good is their cry out?
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਨਾ ਕੀ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ?
ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਰੋਗ ਹਥੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
har kartaa sabh kichh jaandaa sir rog hath deejai.
God, the Creator, knows everything even if they try to hide their sins and vices.
ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ( ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ) ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਲੁਕਾਣ ਦਾ ਜਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ, ਕਰਤਾਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਿਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੮॥
jinaa naanak gurmukh hirdaa suDh hai har bhagat har leejai. ||4||11||18||
O’ Nanak, only those Guru’s followers, whose hearts are pure (free from sins and vices), realize God through devotional worship.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨl
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Raag Aasaa, Fourth Guru:
ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਸੁਘੜ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
jin antar har har pareet hai tay jan sugharh si-aanay raam raajay.
They, in whose heart is enshrined the love for God, are the most wise people.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਹਨ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੇ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਭੁਲਿ ਚੁਕਿ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਭੀ ਖਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
jay baahrahu bhul chuk bolday bhee kharay har bhaanay.
Even if they misspeak outwardly, they are still very pleasing to God.
ਜੇ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਉਕਾਈ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਗ਼ਲਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਉਕਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੋਲ) ਬੋਲ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚੰਗੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਨੋ ਹੋਰੁ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਣੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ॥
har santaa no hor thaa-o naahee har maan nimaanay.
God’s devotees have no other place for their support. They have this faith that God preserves the honor of the meek.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਤਾਣੁ ਸਤਾਣੇ ॥੧॥
jan naanak naam deebaan hai har taan sataanay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, God’s Name is the support of the devotees; God is their strength.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਲ ਹੈl
ਜਿਥੈ ਜਾਇ ਬਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
jithai jaa-ay bahai mayraa satguroo so thaan suhaavaa raam raajay.
O’ God, blessed and beautiful is the place where my true Guru goes and sits.
ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰ-ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਸੋ ਥਾਨੁ ਭਾਲਿਆ ਲੈ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਵਾ ॥
gusikheeN so thaan bhaali-aa lai Dhoor mukh laavaa.
The Guru’s disciples seek out that place and it becomes so sacred to them, that they apply the dust from that site to their foreheads.
ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਥਾਇ ਪਈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਾ ॥
gursikhaa kee ghaal thaa-ay pa-ee jin har naam Dhi-aavaa.
The Guru’s disciples, who meditate on God’s Name, their hard work (in seeking the Guru’s place) is approved in His Court.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਗੁਰ-ਅਸਥਾਨ ਭਾਲਣ ਦੀ) ਮੇਹਨਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਜਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਵਾ ॥੨॥
jinH naanak satgur pooji-aa tin har pooj karaavaa. ||2||
O’ Nanak, they who worship the true Guru (follow his teachings with love and respect), God has in turn caused them to be served and respected by others
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਬਿਠਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਆਦਰ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥
gursikhaa man har pareet hai har naam har tayree raam raajay
O’ God, the Guru’s disciple enshrine in their mind the love for You.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
