ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਆ ਜਿਤੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ॥
safal janam sareer sabh ho-aa jit raam naam pargaasi-aa.
When God’s Name became manifest in them, their entire body and human birth became fruitful.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਭੀ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਜਦ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚਮਕ ਗਿਆ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਿਆ ॥੬॥
naanak har bhaj sadaa din raatee gurmukh nij ghar vaasi-aa. ||6||
O’ Nanak, keep meditating on God’s Name day and night, so that by the Guru’s grace you may also dwell in your own heart (God’s abode). ||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਜਿਨ ਸਰਧਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦੂਜੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
jin sarDhaa raam naam lagee tinH doojai chit na laa-i-aa raam.
Those, who develop a firm faith in God’s Name, do not attach their consciousness to someone else.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋੜਦੇ।
ਜੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਭ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
jay Dhartee sabh kanchan kar deejai bin naavai avar na bhaa-i-aa raam.
Even if the entire earth were to be transformed into gold and given to them; except Naam, they love nothing else.
ਜੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਦੇਈਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅੰਤਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਖਾਈ ॥
raam naam man bhaa-i-aa param sukh paa-i-aa ant chaldi-aa naal sakhaa-ee.
God’s Name is pleasing to them, they attain supreme peace by meditating on it and in the end it accompanies them as supporter while departing from the world.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਲੱਗਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸੰਚੀ ਨਾ ਡੂਬੈ ਨਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
raam naam Dhan poonjee sanchee naa doobai
They gather the wealth of God’s Name, which is neither drowned by water, nor gets lost in any other way.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਧਨ-ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਗਵਾਚਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
raam naam is jug meh tulhaa jamkaal nayrh na aavai.
To go across the world ocean of vices, God’s Name is like a ship in this world; the fear of death does not come near it.
(ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ)ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਤੁਲਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥੭॥
naanak gurmukh raam pachhaataa kar kirpaa aap milaavai. ||7||
O’ Nanak, one who has realized God by following the Guru’s teachings, showing mercy, He Himself unites that one with Him. ||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤੇ ਸਤਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
raamo raam naam satay sat gurmukh jaani-aa raam.
God’s Name is eternal and only a Guru’s follower realizes this truth.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਵਕੋ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਚੜਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
sayvko gur sayvaa laagaa jin man tan arap charhaa-i-aa raam.
Only that disciple commits himself to the Guru’s teachings who surrenders his mind and body to him.
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ, ਤਨ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਵੇ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿਆ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਰਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਕ ਭਾਇ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
man tan arpi-aa bahut man sarDhi-aa gur sayvak bhaa-ay milaa-ay.
Extreme faith wells up in the mind of that disciple who surrenders his mind and body to the Guru; the Guru lovingly unites him with God.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
deenaa naath jee-aa kaa daataa pooray gur tay paa-ay.
God, the support of the support less and the benefactor of all beings, is realized by following the perfect Guru’s teachings.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਖੁ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਏਕੋ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਚਲਾਏ ॥
guroo sikh sikh guroo hai ayko gur updays chalaa-ay.
When no difference remains between the Guru and the disciple, then the disciple also propagates the Guru’s teachings.
ਜਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਸਿੱਖ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਦੀ ਲੜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਤੋਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਤੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥੮॥੨॥੯॥
raam naam mant hirdai dayvai naanak milan subhaa-ay. ||8||2||9||
O’ Nanak, that person, in whose heart the Guru enshrines God’s Name, intuitively unites with God. ||8||2||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੰਤਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੨॥੯॥
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har kartaa dookh binaasan patit paavan har naam jee-o.
The creator-God is the destroyer of sorrows; His Name is the purifier of sinners.
ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਰਚਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਾਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har sayvaa bhaa-ee param gat paa-ee har ootam har har kaam jee-o.
The devotional service of God is the most exalted deed; to whom it seems pleasing attains the supreme spiritual status.
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਕਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
har ootam kaam japee-ai har naam har japee-ai asthir hovai.
Yes Meditation on God’s Name is the most exalted deed and one should always do it; one who does it, becomes stable against vices.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੋਵੈ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
janam maran dovai dukh maytay sehjay hee sukh sovai.
He eradicates the pain of both births and deaths and intuitively lives in peace.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੋਵੈ ਦੁਖ ਮਿਟਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har kirpaa Dhaarahu thaakur har japee-ai aatam raam jee-o.
O’ God, our Master, show mercy on us, so that we may continually meditate on You, the all-pervading God.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ! (ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ) ਉਸ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har naam padaarath kalijug ootam har japee-ai satgur bhaa-ay jee-o.
The wealth of God’s Name is the most exalted in Kalyug; we should meditate on God’s Name while we are imbued with the love of the true Guru.
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੜੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਣਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
gurmukh har parhee-ai gurmukh har sunee-ai har japat sunat dukh jaa-ay jee-o.
We should read the words of God’s praises and listen to these by following the Guru’s teachings; sorrows depart by meditating and listening to God’s Name.
ਗੁਰੁ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
har har naam japi-aa dukh binsi-aa har naam param sukh paa-i-aa.
The person who meditated on God’s Name, his misery vanished and he enjoyed the supreme bliss by meditating on God’s Name .
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਲਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
satgur gi-aan bali-aa ghat chaanan agi-aan anDhayr gavaa-i-aa.
The person, whose mind got illuminated with the divine knowledge given by the true Guru, dispelled the darkness of ignorance from within.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਚਮਕ ਪਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਿਨੀ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har naam tinee aaraaDhi-aa jin mastak Dhur likh paa-ay jee-o.
They alone meditate on God’s Name in whose destiny it was so preordained from the beginning.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
har naam padaarath kalijug ootam har japee-ai satgur bhaa-ay jee-o. ||2||
The wealth of God’s Name is the most exalted in Kalyug; we should meditate on God’s Name while we are imbued with the love of the true Guru. ||2||
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har man bhaa-i-aa param sukh paa-i-aa har laahaa pad nirbaan jee-o.
He, to whose mind it is pleasing to recite God’s Name, attains the celestial peace; by meditating on God’s Name, attains the supreme spiritual status.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਖੱਟ ਲਈ ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਚੂਕਾ ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
har pareet lagaa-ee har naam sakhaa-ee bharam chookaa aavan jaan jee-o.
God’s Name becomes the companion of a person, who embraces love for Him; his wandering in doubts and his cycles of birth and death come to an end.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
