ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
gurmukhay gurmukh nadree raam pi-aaraa raam.
It is through the Guru’s teachings that a Guru’s follower is able to realize God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਸ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
raam naam pi-aaraa jagat nistaaraa raam naam vadi-aa-ee.
God’s Name, the emancipator of the world, becomes dear to him; the Name of God is his glory.
ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਈ ॥
kalijug raam naam bohithaa gurmukh paar laghaa-ee.
In Kalyug, God’s Name is like a ship; through the Guru’s teachings it carries a person across the worldly ocean of vices.
ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
halat palat raam naam suhaylay gurmukh karnee saaree.
Those who attune to God‘s Name, attain peace both here and hereafter; meditation on Naam through the Guru’s teachings is the most sublime deed.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਤਿ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
naanak daat da-i-aa kar dayvai raam naam nistaaree. ||1||
O’ Nanak, showing His mercy, upon whom God bestows this gift, He ferries him across the world ocean of vices by attuning him to Naam . ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਦੁਖ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
raamo raam naam japi-aa dukh kilvikh naas gavaa-i-aa raam.
Those who have meditated on God’s Name have eradicated all their sins and sufferings.
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਏ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
gur parchai gur parchai Dhi-aa-i-aa mai hirdai raam ravaa-i-aa raam.
Upon meeting and following the Guru’s teachings, I remembered God and enshrined Him in my heart.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਹਰੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਸਾ ਲਿਆ।
ਰਵਿਆ ਰਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਜਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਆਏ ॥
ravi-aa raam hirdai param gat paa-ee jaa gur sarnaa-ee aa-ay.
I attained the supreme spiritual status, when I sought the Guru’s refuge and enshrined God in my heart,
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ, ਤੇ,ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ।
ਲੋਭ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਵ ਡੁਬਦੀ ਨਿਕਲੀ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਏ ॥
lobh vikaar naav dubdee niklee jaa satgur naam dirhaa-ay.
When the true Guru made me firmly believe in Naam, my life which was sinking like a boat laden with the load of greed and sins, was saved.
ਜਦ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਲਾਲਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਡੁਬਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲੀ।
ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
jee-a daan gur poorai dee-aa raam naam chit laa-ay.
The Perfect Guru blessed me with the gift of righteous life and I attuned my mind to God’s Name.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਜਦ ਅਸਾਂ ਰਾਮ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਲ ਲਾਇਆ।
ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਏ ॥੨॥
aap kirpaal kirpaa kar dayvai naanak gur sarnaa-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, when a person comes to the Guru’s refuge, the merciful God Himself shows kindness and blesses him with the gift of Naam. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣੀ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
banee raam naam sunee siDh kaaraj sabh suhaa-ay raam.
One who listened to the Guru’s word of God’s praises, all his tasks got beautifully accomplished and he achieved the purpose of human life.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਵਿਚ) ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਰੋਮੇ ਰੋਮਿ ਰੋਮਿ ਰੋਮੇ ਮੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਰਾਮ ॥
romay rom rom romay mai gurmukh raam Dhi-aa-ay raam.
Through the Guru’s teachings I am meditating on God’s Name with each and every pore of my body.
ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਰੋਮ ਰੋਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਕਾਈ ॥
raam naam Dhi-aa-ay pavit ho-ay aa-ay tis roop na raykh-i-aa kaa-ee.
My life has been rendered immaculate by meditating on the Name of that God who does not have any form or feature.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖਾਸ ਚਿਹਨ-ਚਕ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ
ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੂਖ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
raamo raam ravi-aa ghat antar sabh tarisnaa bhookh gavaa-ee.
All my worldly yearnings have vanished and now God alone dwells in my heart.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਤੇ ਭੁੱਖ ਸਮੁਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।,
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
man tan seetal seegaar sabh ho-aa gurmat raam pargaasaa.
God is revealed to me through the Guru’s teachings, my mind and body are totally adorned with peace and tranquility.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਠੰਢ ਚੈਨ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਸ਼ੋਭਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਮ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
naanak aap anoograhu kee-aa ham daasan daasan daasaa. ||3||
O’ Nanak, God Himself has bestowed mercy on me and I have become the most humble servant of His devotees. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨੀ ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਅਭਾਗੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
jinee raamo raam naam visaari-aa say manmukh moorh abhaagee raam.
Those who have forsaken God’s Name, are self-willed, foolish and unfortunate.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ।
ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰੇ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਾਗੀ ਰਾਮ ॥
tin antray moh vi-aapai khin khin maa-i-aa laagee raam.
Within them prevails the worldly attachments and at every moment Maya (worldly riches) keeps afflicting them.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੋਹ ਜੋਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਚੰਬੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਗੀ ਮੂੜ ਭਏ ਅਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਹ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
maa-i-aa mal laagee moorh bha-ay abhaagee jin raam naam nah bhaa-i-aa.
Those whom God’s Name is not pleasing, their minds are soiled by Maya (worldly riches) and such fools always remain unfortunate.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ, ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨੇਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੋਰਾਇਆ ॥
anayk karam karahi abhimaanee har raamo naam choraa-i-aa.
These arrogant persons do many kinds of ritualistic deeds, but hesitate from meditating on God’s Name.
ਓਹ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਲੋਕ ਹੋਰ ਤਾਂ ਕਈ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਾਵ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੱਢਦੇ।
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਜਮ ਪੰਥੁ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਾਲੂਖਤ ਮੋਹ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
mahaa bikham jam panth duhaylaa kaalookhat moh anDhi-aaraa.
Because of the darkness of ignorance, their spiritual path in life is very arduous and painful as if they are walking on the demon’s path.
ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਸਿਆਹ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਤੇ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ (ਜਮਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ) ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੪॥
naanak gurmukh naam Dhi-aa-i-aa taa paa-ay mokh du-aaraa. ||4||
O’ Nanak, one who follows the Guru’s teachings and meditates on Naam, finds the path of liberation from worldly attachments and vices. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
raamo raam naam guroo raam gurmukhay jaanai raam.
One who realizes God’s Name through the Guru’s teachings comes to know that God’s Name itself is the Guru and Naam itself is God.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਊਭ ਪਇਆਲੀ ਭਰਮਦਾ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ਰਾਮ ॥
ih manoo-aa khin oobh paa-i-aalee bharmadaa ikat ghar aanai raam.
The mind which at one moment is in high spirits and in the next it is depressed, keeps wandering; the devotee attunes this mind to God.
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਕਦੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਢਹਿੰਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ਸਭ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਏ ॥
man ikat ghar aanai sabh gat mit jaanai har raamo naam rasaa-ay.
Yes, he attunes his mind to God and understands the worth of supreme spiritual status; and enjoy the bliss of God’s Name.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਉਧਾਰਿ ਤਰਾਏ ॥
jan kee paij rakhai raam naamaa par-hilaad uDhaar taraa-ay.
God’s Name preserves the honor of His devotees, just as He saved and emancipated His devotee-Prahlaad.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮੋ ਰਮੁ ਊਚਾ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਤਿਆ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
raamo raam ramo ram oochaa gun kehti-aa ant na paa-i-aa.
Keep meditating on God, who is the highest of all; by uttering God’s praises, no one has reached the limit of His virtues.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ, ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੀਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਰਾਮੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
naanak raam naam sun bheenay raamai naam samaa-i-aa. ||5||
O’ Nanak, the devotees, who get drenched in God’s love by listening to His Name; they remain absorbed in God’s Name. ||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਭਿੱਜ ਗਏ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਤਿਨ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਭ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
jin antray raam naam vasai tin chintaa sabh gavaa-i-aa raam.
Those who realize God’s Name within their hearts, eradicate all their worries.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਭਿ ਅਰਥਾ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥
sabh arthaa sabh Dharam milay man chindi-aa so fal paa-i-aa raam.
They obtain all worldly wealth, all piety and the fruits of their mind’s desires.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਅਰਥ ਕਾਮ ਮੋਖ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤਵਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹੀ ਫਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
man chindi-aa fal paa-i-aa raam naam Dhi-aa-i-aa raam naam gun gaa-ay.
They obtained the fruits of their heart’s desires by meditating on God’s Name and they keep singing the Praises of God’s Name.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਚਿਤਵਿਆ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਗਾਉਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਬੁਧਿ ਗਈ ਸੁਧਿ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
durmat kabuDh ga-ee suDh ho-ee raam naam man laa-ay.
When they attuned their mind to God’s Name, their bad inclination and evil intellect went away, and they obtained understanding about righteous living.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਭੈੜੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
