ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਮਰੁ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
jo tuDh bhaavai so bhalaa pi-aaray tayree amar rajaa-ay. ||7||
O’ dear God, whatever pleases You is good for all, Your will is Eternal. ||7||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ)! ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਮਿੱਟ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੮॥੨॥੪॥
naanak rang ratay naaraa-inai pi-aaray maatay sahj subhaa-ay. ||8||2||4||
O’ Nanak, those, who are imbued with the love of beloved God, remain fully absorbed in His love in a state of peace and poise. ||8||2||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੮॥੨॥੪॥
ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਕਹਉ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥੧॥
sabh biDh tum hee jaantay pi-aaray kis peh kaha-o sunaa-ay. ||1||
O, Beloved, You know all about my condition; who can I talk to about it? ||1||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕੀਹਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਆਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਾਂ?
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਆ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਪਹਿਰਹਿ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥
tooN daataa jee-aa sabhnaa kaa tayraa ditaa pahirahi khaa-ay. ||2||
You are the benefactor of all beings; they consume what You give them. ||2||
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ। (ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਹਿਨਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅੰਨ) ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
sukh dukh tayree aagi-aa pi-aaray doojee naahee jaa-ay. ||3||
O’ God, pleasure and pain come by Your command; except You, there is no other place of support for the beings. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਕਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ। (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੀਵ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਆਸਰੇ ਦੀ) ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਰੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥
jo tooN karaaveh so karee pi-aaray avar kichh karan na jaa-ay. ||4||
O’ God, whatever You cause me to do, that I do; I cannot do anything else. ||4||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਆਕੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪॥
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਸਭ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥੫॥
din rain sabh suhaavanay pi-aaray jit japee-ai har naa-o. ||5||
O’ dear God, beautiful and blessed are all those days and nights, in which we meditate on Your Name. ||5||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰੀ! ਉਹ ਹਰੇਕ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਸਾਈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ॥੬॥
saa-ee kaar kamaavnee pi-aaray Dhur mastak laykh likhaa-ay. ||6||
O’ dear God, we can do only the preordained deeds. ||6||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਲਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ॥੬॥
ਏਕੋ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੭॥
ayko aap varatdaa pi-aaray ghat ghat rahi-aa samaa-ay. ||7||
O’ dear God, You alone are pervading everywhere and You are enshrined in each and every heart. ||7||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ ॥੭॥
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਉਧਰਿ ਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੮॥੩॥੨੨॥੧੫॥੨॥੪੨॥
sansaar koop tay uDhar lai pi-aaray naanak har sarnaa-ay. ||8||3||22||15||2||42||
Nanak says, O’ God, I have sought Your refuge, pull me out of the worldly well of vices and Maya. ||8||3||22||15||2||42||

Raag Aasaa, First Guru, Patee Likhee ~ The hymn of the alphabet:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.
One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਸੈ ਸੋਇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜੀ ਸਭਨਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
sasai so-ay sarisat jin saajee sabhnaa saahib ayk bha-i-aa.
Sassa: He who created the universe, is the One Master-God of all.
ਉਹੀ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੇਵਤ ਰਹੇ ਚਿਤੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਕਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ ਕਾ ਸਫਲੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੧॥
sayvat rahay chit jinH kaa laagaa aa-i-aa tinH kaa safal bha-i-aa. ||1||
Successful became the advent of those into this world, whose conscience merged with God while remembering Him. ||1||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਕਾਹੇ ਭੂਲੇ ਮੂੜ ਮਨਾ ॥
man kaahay bhoolay moorh manaa.
O’ my foolish mind, why are you forgetting Him?
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਜਬ ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਬੀਰਾ ਤਉ ਪੜਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jab laykhaa dayveh beeraa ta-o parhi-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ brother, you will be judged as educated only when your rendered account is cleared in God’s presence. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਵੀਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾਣਿਆਂ ਜਾਵੇਗਾਂ। ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਈਵੜੀ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
eevrhee aad purakh hai daataa aapay sachaa so-ee.
Eevree: The all pervading, benefactor God is the primal source of all life; He Himself is the eternal God.
ਸਰਬ ਵਿਆਪਕ, ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਸਾਰੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਏਨਾ ਅਖਰਾ ਮਹਿ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
aynaa akhraa meh jo gurmukh boojhai tis sir laykh na ho-ee. ||2||
There is no debt (of vices) in the account of that Guru’s follower who understands God through these letters. ||2||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅਖਰਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਊੜੈ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਜੈ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
oorhai upmaa taa kee keejai jaa kaa ant na paa-i-aa.
Ooraa: Sing praises of that God, the limit of whose virtues cannot be found.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੀਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ
ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
sayvaa karahi say-ee fal paavahi jinHee sach kamaa-i-aa. ||3||
They alone succeed in achieving the purpose of human life, who meditate on God’s Name and practice truth. ||3||
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਙੰਙੈ ਙਿਆਨੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਪੜਿਆ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
nyanyai nyi-aan boojhai jay ko-ee parhi-aa pandit so-ee.
Nganga: If anyone understands divine knowledge, he becomes a relgious scholar and a Pundit
ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ i
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੪॥
sarab jee-aa meh ayko jaanai taa ha-umai kahai na ko-ee. ||4||
One who recognizes the one God among all beings, he does not talk of ego. ||4||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲਵੇ, ਉਹ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ॥੪॥
ਕਕੈ ਕੇਸ ਪੁੰਡਰ ਜਬ ਹੂਏ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਾਬੂਣੈ ਉਜਲਿਆ ॥
kakai kays pundar jab hoo-ay vin saaboonai ujli-aa.
Kakka: When the hair become grey even without bleeching,
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਕੇਸ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ, ਸਾਬਣ ਵਰਤਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਫ਼ੈਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ,
ਜਮ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੇ ਹੇਰੂ ਆਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਲਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੫॥
jam raajay kay hayroo aa-ay maa-i-aa kai sangal banDh la-i-aa. ||5||
then understand that the agents of the demon of death have come and he is still entangled in the chains of love for the worldly wealth. ||5||
ਤੇ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਭੇਜੇ ਹੋਏ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ) ਤੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਦੂਤ) ਆ ਖਲੋਣ, ਤੇ ਇਧਰ ਅਜੇ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਸੰਗਲ ਨੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ? ॥੫॥
ਖਖੈ ਖੁੰਦਕਾਰੁ ਸਾਹ ਆਲਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਖਰੀਦਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਦੀਆ ॥
khakhai khundkaar saah aalam kar khareed jin kharach dee-aa.
Khakha: Engage in praising that God who is the King of the entire universe and provide sustenance to all.
ਜੋ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ; ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਅਪੜਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਝ।
ਬੰਧਨਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਾਧਿਆ ਅਵਰੀ ਕਾ ਨਹੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਇਆ ॥੬॥
banDhan jaa kai sabh jag baaDhi-aa avree kaa nahee hukam pa-i-aa. ||6||
And in whose command the entire universe is bound; no one else’s command has any validity. ||6||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਨੱਥਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੬॥
ਗਗੈ ਗੋਇ ਗਾਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਛੋਡੀ ਗਲੀ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਗਰਬਿ ਭਇਆ ॥
gagai go-ay gaa-ay jin chhodee galee gobid garab bha-i-aa.
Gagga: One who does not meditate on God becomes arrogant just by wise talks about God .
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਵਤਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਘੜਿ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਆਵੀ ਸਾਜੀ ਚਾੜਣ ਵਾਹੈ ਤਈ ਕੀਆ ॥੭॥
gharh bhaaNday jin aavee saajee chaarhan vaahai ta-ee kee-aa. ||7||
God who has created the human beings and created the world like a kiln; He has also created the cycles of birth and death. ||7||
ਜਿਸ (ਗੋਬਿੰਦ) ਨੇ ਜੀਵ-ਭਾਂਡੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਰੂਪੀ ਆਵੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਵੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਘਘੈ ਘਾਲ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੇ ਘਾਲੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹੈ ॥
ghaghai ghaal sayvak jay ghaalai sabad guroo kai laag rahai.
Ghagha: If a person humbly performs the devotional service and remains attuned to the Guru’s word,
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੇਵਕ -ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਰੜੀ ਮੇਹਨਤ ਕਰੇ, ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖੇ,
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਜੇ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਮਤੁ ਰਹੈ ॥੮॥
buraa bhalaa jay sam kar jaanai in biDh saahib ramat rahai. ||8||
and deems both good and bad circumstance as equal; this is the only way he can continue to remember God. ||8||
ਤੇ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਭੁਲਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਜਾਣੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸਿਮਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਚਚੈ ਚਾਰਿ ਵੇਦ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਖਾਣੀ ਚਾਰਿ ਜੁਗਾ ॥
chachai chaar vayd jin saajay chaaray khaanee chaar jugaa.
Chacha: That God, who created the four Vedas, the four sources (eggs, placenta, perspiration, and earth) of creation and the four ages;
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਚਾਰੇ ਜੁਗ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ,ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਚਾਰ ਵੇਦ ਰਚੇ ਹਨ,
ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਖਾਣੀ ਭੋਗੀ ਪੜਿਆ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਆਪਿ ਥੀਆ ॥੯॥
jug jug jogee khaanee bhogee parhi-aa pandit aap thee-aa. ||9||
through each and every age, He Himself has been the Yogi, the enjoyer through the creations, the Pandit and the scholar. ||9||
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਤਿਆਗੀ, ਚੌਹਾਂ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪੇ ਰਚੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
