ਘਰ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
ghar hee so pir paa-i-aa sachai sabad veechaar. ||1||
By reflecting on the Guru’s word of God’s praises, they have realized their Husband-God within their heart ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਅਵਗਣ ਗੁਣੀ ਬਖਸਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
avgan gunee bakhsaa-i-aa har si-o liv laa-ee.
The soul-bride who has attuned herself to God, has her faults forgiven because of her previous virtues.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਵਾ ਲਏ,
ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har var paa-i-aa kaamnee gur mayl milaa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Guru united the soul-bride with God; in this way the soul-bride realized her Husband-God. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਕਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥
ik pir hadoor na jaananHee doojai bharam bhulaa-ay.
There are some soul-brides who are deluded by worldly riches and doubt; they do not understand that the Husband-God is right besides them.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੀਆਂ,
ਕਿਉ ਪਾਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਡੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥੨॥
ki-o paa-iniH dohaaganee dukhee rain vihaa-ay. ||2||
How can unfortunate soul-brides meet Him? They spend their life in misery. ||2||
ਉਹ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗਣਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ) ਰਾਤ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
jin kai man sach vasi-aa sachee kaar kamaa-ay.
Those in whose minds the eternal God is enshrined, always do the righteous deed of singing His praises.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਸਿਉ ਸਚੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
an-din sayveh sahj si-o sachay maahi samaa-ay. ||3||
They always intuitively perform devotional worship and merge with God. ||3||
ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ, ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ॥੩॥
ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈਆ ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
duhaaganee bharam bhulaa-ee-aa koorh bol bikh khaahi.
The unfortunate soul-brides are lost in the illusions of worldly wealth; they practice falsehood and the poisonous Maya ruins their spiritual lives.
ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗਣ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਖਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੁੰਞੀ ਸੇਜ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
pir na jaanan aapnaa sunjee sayj dukh paahi. ||4||
They do not realize their Husband-God; feeling deserted, they keep suffering in misery. ||4||
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਸੇਜਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਪਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਮਤੁ ਮਨ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਹਿ ॥
sachaa saahib ayk hai mat man bharam bhulaahi.
O’ my mind, remember that there is one and only one eternal Master-God, lest you get lost in doubts of Maya.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਚੇਤਾ ਰੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਮਤਾਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਏਂ।
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਹਿ ॥੫॥
gur poochh sayvaa karahi sach nirmal man vasaahi. ||5||
Enshrine the eternal immaculate God in your mind by performing His devotional worship through the Guru’s teachings. ||5||
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਸ਼ਵਰਾ ਲੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾ ॥੫॥
ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
sohaaganee sadaa pir paa-i-aa ha-umai aap gavaa-ay.
The fortunate soul-bride always realize her Husband-God by banishing egotism and self-conceit.
ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਪਿਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗਹਿ ਰਹੀ ਸਚੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੬॥
pir saytee an-din geh rahee sachee sayj sukh paa-ay. ||6||
She always remember her Husband-God and enjoys the celestial peace realizing His presence in her heart. ||6||
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਗਏ ਪਲੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
mayree mayree kar ga-ay palai kichh na paa-ay.
They who departed from the world obsessed with their worldly wealth and relations, did not achieve anything in life.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਇਹੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ-ਪੱਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆ।
ਮਹਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਡੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਈ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥੭॥
mahal naahee dohaaganee ant ga-ee pachhutaa-ay. ||7||
The unfortunate soul-bride does not realize God’s Presence in her heart and departs repenting in the end. ||7||
ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗਣ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਉਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਹੱਥ ਮਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
so pir mayraa ayk hai aykas si-o liv laa-ay.
O’ soul-bride, that Husband-God of mine is the one and only one; I remain attuned to that One alone.
ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ! ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥੮॥੧੧॥੩੩॥
naanak jay sukh lorheh kaamnee har kaa naam man vasaa-ay. ||8||11||33||
O Nanak, if the soul-bride longs for spiritual peace, she should enshrine God’s Name within her mind. ||8||11||33||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੮॥੧੧॥੩੩॥

Raag Aasaa, Third Guru:
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਚਖਾਇਓਨੁ ਰਸੁ ਆਇਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
amrit jinHaa chhakhaa-i-on ras aa-i-aa sahj subhaa-ay.
Those whom God has helped to taste the ambrosial nectar, they intuitively enjoyed its taste.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਚਖਾਇਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਆ ਗਿਆ,
ਸਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
sachaa vayparvaahu hai tis no til na tamaa-ay. ||1||
God has no worries and He does not have even an iota of greed. ||1||
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਲਾਲਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਰਸਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
amrit sachaa varasdaa gurmukhaa mukh paa-ay.
The ambrosial nectar of God’s Name always keeps raining down every where but only the Guru’s followers partake it,
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਰ੍ਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀਆਵਲਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man sadaa haree-aavlaa sehjay har gun gaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and their mind always remains in bloom by intuitively singing God’s praises. ||1||Pause||
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਦਰਿ ਖੜੀਆ ਬਿਲਲਾਹਿ ॥
manmukh sadaa duhaaganee dar kharhee-aa billaahi.
The self-conceited soul-brides always remain separated from God; they wail endlessly even when God is present right in their heart.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗਣਾਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਖਲੋਤੀਆਂ (ਭੀ) ਵਿਲਕਦੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਦੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋੁ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
jinHaa pir kaa su-aad na aa-i-o jo Dhur likhi-aa so kamaahi. ||2||
Those who have never enjoyed the relish of union with their Husband-God, can only do deeds according to their preordained destiny. ||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਕਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੀਜੇ ਸਚੁ ਜਮੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥
gurmukh beejay sach jamai sach naam vaapaar.
The Guru’s follower plants true Name in his heart, Naam sprouts in his heart and he meditates on Naam.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਖੇਤ ਵਿਚ) ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਉੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਣਜ-ਵਪਾਰ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਇਤੁ ਲਾਹੈ ਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇਇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥੩॥
jo it laahai laa-i-an bhagtee day-ay bhandaar. ||3||
God bestows the treasure of devotional worship to those whom He has attached to this profitable venture of meditation. ||3||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਲਾਭਵੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ॥
gurmukh sadaa sohaaganee bani bhagat seegaar.
The Guru’s followers are the fortunate soul-brides, they adorn their spiritual life with the revered fear and devotion to God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
an-din raaveh pir aapnaa sach rakheh ur Dhaar. ||4||
They always enjoy the company of their Husband-God and keep Him enshrined in their hearts. ||4||
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਮਾਣਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
jinHaa pir raavi-aa aapnaa tinHaa vitahu bal jaa-o.
I dedicate myself to those soul-brides who have enjoyed the company of their Husband-God.
ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੫॥
sadaa pir kai sang raheh vichahu aap gavaa-ay. ||5||
By eradicating self-conceit from within, they always remain in the company of their Husband-God. ||5||
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
tan man seetal mukh ujlay pir kai bhaa-ay pi-aar.
Those who are imbued with the love of their Husband-God, their body and mind remain cool and calm and they are honored here and hereafter.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਠੰਢਾ-ਠਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੬॥
sayj sukhaalee pir ravai ha-umai tarisnaa maar. ||6||
By eradicating their ego and worldly desires, they enjoy the presence of their Husband-God in their heart. ||6||
ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਉਸ ਸੇਜ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥
kar kirpaa ghar aa-i-aa gur kai hayt apaar.
Granting His grace, He comes into the heart of a soul-bride, through infinite love for the Guru,
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਅਪਾਰ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ
ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੭॥
var paa-i-aa sohaaganee kayval ayk muraar. ||7||
that fortunate soul-bride unites with Husband-God, who is the one and only one like Him. ||7||
ਉਹ ਸੁਭਾਗਣ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਸਭੇ ਗੁਨਹ ਬਖਸਾਇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰਿ ॥
sabhay gunah bakhsaa-ay la-i-on maylay maylanhaar.
The Guru have all his sins forgiven; God unites him with Himself.
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਮੁਆਫ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਣੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੮॥੧੨॥੩੪॥
naanak aakhan aakhee-ai jay sun Dharay pi-aar. ||8||12||34||
O’ Nanak, we should utter such words of God’s praises, hearing which He may love us. ||8||12||34||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ) ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੇ ॥੮॥੧੨॥੩੪॥

Raag Aasaa, Third Guru:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਊਪਜੈ ਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
satgur tay gun oopjai jaa parabh maylai so-ay.
When God causes us to meet the Guru, then the Guru blesses us with virtues,
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ,
