Abandon your self-conceit, worldly attachments, evil deeds, and falsehood; always meditate on God’s Name.
ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਝੂਠ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਹ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
ਮਨ ਸੰਤਨਾ ਕੈ ਚਰਨਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥
man santnaa kai charan laag. ||1||
O’ my mind, seek the refuge of the saint-Guru. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜਾਗੁ ॥
parabh gopaal deen da-i-aal patit paavan paarbarahm har charan simar jaag.
God is the Sustainer of the world, merciful to the meek and purifier of sinners; remain alert to the onslaught of Maya by meditating on the supreme God.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ, ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ, ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਹਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹੁ l

ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਅਨੰਦੀ ਖੇਲੁ ਰੀ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
harakh sog bairaag anandee khayl ree dikhaa-i-o. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ friend, the bliss-giving God has shown me this world-play, in which sometime there is happiness, sometime sorrow and sometime detachment. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਤੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਭੈ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਇਓ ॥
khinhoo-aN bhai nirbhai khinhoo-aN khinhoo-aN uth Dhaa-i-o.
One moment, the mortal is in fear and the next moment he is fearless; in a moment, he gets up and runs away towards worldly things.
ਇਕ ਪਲ ਬੰਦਾ ਡਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਪਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਡਰਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਲ ਉਠ ਭੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਨ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਖਿਨਹੂ ਤਜਿ ਜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
khinhoo-aN ras bhogan khinhoo-aN khinhoo taj jaa-i-o. ||1||
In a moment one may be enjoying tasty relishes and in the next moment he may go away renouncing all. ||1||
ਕਿਤੇ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭੋਗੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਭੋਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਜੋਗ ਤਾਪ ਬਹੁ ਪੂਜਾ ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਭਰਮਾਇਓ ॥
khinhoo-aN jog taap baho poojaa khinhoo-aN bharmaa-i-o.
One moment a person may be performing yoga, penances, and many kinds of worship, in the next moment that person may be wandering in other illusions.
ਕਿਤੇ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਤੇ ਧੂਣੀਆਂ ਤਪਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕਿਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਭਟਕੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਖਿਨਹੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੫੬॥
khinhoo-aN kirpaa saaDhoo sang naanak har rang laa-i-o. ||2||5||156||
O’ Nanak, one moment in the holy congregation, the merciful God is blessing someone with His love. ||2||5||156||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕਿਤੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੫੬॥

One eternal God, realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gobind gobind kar haaN.
O’ my friend keep meditating on God,
(ਹੇ ਸਖੀ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੁ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
har har man pi-aar haaN.
and enshrine love for God in Your heart.
ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਧਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gur kahi-aa so chit Dhar haaN.
Whatever the Guru teaches; enshrine that in your heart
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ।
ਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਤੋਰਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
an si-o tor fayr haaN.
Turn away from the love for anyone other than God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਤੋੜ ਦੇ, ਹੋਰ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤਾ ਲੈ।
ਐਸੇ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aisay laalan paa-i-o ree sakhee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my friend, this is how anyone has realized God. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪੰਕਜ ਮੋਹ ਸਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
pankaj moh sar haaN.
This worldly ocean contains mud of worldly attachments,
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਹੈ ,
ਪਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਚਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
pag nahee chalai har haaN.
feet (mind) stuck in it cannot walk towards God.
(ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਪੈਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੁਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗਹਡਿਓ ਮੂੜ ਨਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gahdi-o moorh nar haaN.
The foolish human being is stuck in the mud of worldly allurements;
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣਾ ਪੈਰ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ) ਫਸਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਿਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
anin upaav kar haaN.
and he is trying many other efforts to get out of this mud.
ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਉ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੈ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੧॥
ta-o niksai saran pai ree sakhee. ||1||
O’ my friend, one gets out of this only when one seeks God’s refuge. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ (ਮੋਹ-ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਪੈਰ) ਨਿਕਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਥਿਰ ਥਿਰ ਚਿਤ ਥਿਰ ਹਾਂ ॥
thir thir chit thir haaN.
Make your mind totally stable (immune from the love for Maya),
ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਡੋਲ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ,
ਬਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
ban garihu samsar haaN.
so that that for it a wild)forest and a safe house are the same.
(ਇਤਨਾ ਅਡੋਲ ਕਿ) ਜੰਗਲ ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਇਕ-ਸਮਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੋਣ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਏਕ ਪਿਰ ਹਾਂ ॥
antar ayk pir haaN.
Within your heart keep enshrined the One (God) alone,
ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ,
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਧਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
baahar anayk Dhar haaN.
even though outwardly you may continue many worldly chores.
ਤੇ, ਜਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇ-ਸ਼ੱਕ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰ,
ਰਾਜਨ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
raajan jog kar haaN.
This way enjoy both, the worldly pleasures and the bliss of union with God.
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਜੋਗ ਭੀ ਕਮਾ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੋਗ ਅਲੋਗੀ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੫੭॥
kaho naanak log agolee ree sakhee. ||2||1||157||
Nanak says: O’ my friend, this is the way to live amongst the people and yet apart from them. ||2||1||157||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! (ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿਣਾ-ਇਹ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੫੭॥

ਮਨਸਾ ਏਕ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
mansaa ayk maan haaN.
O’ my mind, have the yearning to realize God alone.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ!) ਇਕ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਤ ਧਿਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
gur si-o nayt Dhi-aan haaN.
Follow the Guru’s teachings and always remember God.
ਗੁਰੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੁ।
ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਤ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
darirh sant mant gi-aan haaN.
Steadfastly hold on to the wisdom of the Guru’s mantra.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ।
ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
sayvaa gur charaan haaN.
Perform devotional worship through the Guru’s teachings.
ਗੁਰੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ।
ਤਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ta-o milee-ai gur kirpaan mayray manaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mind, only then by the Guru’s grace, we can realize God. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਟੂਟੇ ਅਨ ਭਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
tootay an bharaan haaN.
When all other doubts are shattered,
ਜਦੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਰਵਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
ravi-o sarab thaan haaN.
and God is seen pervading everywhere;
ਜਦੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ l,
ਲਹਿਓ ਜਮ ਭਇਆਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
lahi-o jam bha-i-aan haaN.
the fear of death is dispelled,
ਤਦੋਂ ਡਰਾਉਣੇ ਜਮ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਾਇਓ ਪੇਡ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
paa-i-o payd thaan haaN.
and attains the primal place in God’s court which is like the base of the world-tree.
ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਰੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ-ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਉ ਚੂਕੀ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਨਿ ॥੧॥
ta-o chookee sagal kaan. ||1||
Then all dependence on others ends. ||1||
ਤਦੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਲਹਨੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
lahno jis mathaan haaN.
One who has such preordained destiny,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਹੈ,
ਭੈ ਪਾਵਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
bhai paavak paar paraan haaN.
he crosses over the terrifying fiery ocean of vices.
ਉਹ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਤਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਥਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
nij ghar tiseh thaan haaN.
He finds a place in his own heart where God dwells,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲ ਘਰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਰਸਹਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
har ras raseh maan haaN.
and enjoys the most sublime essence of God’s Name.
ਉਹ ਰਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਸ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਲਾਥੀ ਤਿਸ ਭੁਖਾਨਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
laathee tis bhukaan haaN.
His longing for Maya is appeased;
ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੫੮॥
naanak sahj samaa-i-o ray manaa. ||2||2||158||
Nanak says, O’ my mind, then he easily merges in celestial peace. ||2||2||158||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ , ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੫੮॥

God who is the master of all virtues.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ,
ਜਪੀਐ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
japee-ai sahj Dhunee haaN.
we should meditate on His Name remaining intuitively attuned to celestial music.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ,
ਸਾਧੂ ਰਸਨ ਭਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
saaDhoo rasan bhanee haaN.
Surrender to the Guru and with your tongue sing the praises of God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰ!
ਛੂਟਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਸੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
chhootan biDh sunee haaN.
Listen, this is the only way to escape from the vices.
ਸੁਣ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ,
ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡ ਪੁਨੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paa-ee-ai vad punee mayray manaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my mind, through great fortune one learns about this way. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਮਾਰਗ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖੋਜਹਿ ਜਨ ਮੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
khojeh jan munee haaN.
The saints and sages have been searching that God,
ਸਾਰੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ,
ਸ੍ਰਬ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
sarab kaa parabh Dhanee haaN.
who is the Master of all.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ l
ਦੁਲਭ ਕਲਿ ਦੁਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
dulabh kal dunee haaN.
It is so difficult to realize Him in this present age called Kalyug.
ਉਸਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਭਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੀ ਹਾਂ ॥
dookh binaasanee haaN.
He is the destroyer of all sorrows.
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਨੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
parabh pooran aasnee mayray manaa. ||1||
O my mind, God is the Fulfiller of desires, ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਸੋ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
man so sayvee-ai haaN.
O’ my mind, we should serve that God by always remembering Him.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ,
