ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
bin satgur kinai na paa-i-o kar vaykhhu man veechaar.
Reflect in your mind and you will see for yourself that no one has ever realized God without the Guru’s teachings.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਸਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਾ l
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਕਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥
manmukh mail na utrai jichar gur sabad na karay pi-aar. ||1||
The filth of vices from the mind of a self-willed person is not washed off, until one falls in love with the Guru’s word. ||1||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਦ ਤਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਚਲੁ
man mayray satgur kai bhaanai chal.
O’ my mind, live by the will of the true Guru,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ,
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਹਿ ਮਹਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
nij ghar vaseh amrit peeveh taa sukh laheh mahal. ||1|| rahaa-o.
-you will stay within your own inner being, will partake in the ambrosial nectar of Naam and will find peace by living in God’s presence. ||1||pause||
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸੇਗਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਵੇਂਗਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਵੇਂਗਾ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਉਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਗੁਣੁ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਬਹਣਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
a-ugunvantee gun ko nahee bahan na milai hadoor.
The unvirtuous person has no virtues and is not allowed in God’s Presence.
ਅਵਗੁਣਾਂ ਭਰੀ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਅਵਗਣਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
manmukh sabad na jaan-ee avgan so parabh door.
The self-willed person does not know the worth of the Guru’s word and due to lack of virtues, God seems far away.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ, ਔਗੁਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੀ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
jinee sach pachhaani-aa sach ratay bharpoor.
But those who have recognized the eternal God pervading everywhere, they remain imbued with His love.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
gur sabdee man bayDhi-aa parabh mili-aa aap hadoor. ||2||
They follow the Guru’s word so sincerely as if their mind is pierced with it, they realize God and always visualize Him besides them. ||2||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਆਪੇ ਰੰਗਣਿ ਰੰਗਿਓਨੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
aapay rangan rangi-on sabday la-i-on milaa-ay.
Those whom God Himself has imbued with Naam and has united them with Himself through the Guru’s word,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਚਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
sachaa rang na utrai jo sach ratay liv laa-ay.
the true love of those people never fades who remain imbued with the love of the eternal God by keeping their mind focused on Him.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ) ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੰਗ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦਾ।
ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
chaaray kundaa bhav thakay manmukh boojh na paa-ay.
The self-willed persons get tired of wandering around in different directions, but they do not understand the righteous way of life.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭਉਂਦੇ ਹੰਭ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪੰਤੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
jis satgur maylay so milai sachai sabad samaa-ay. ||3||
Only that person unites with God, whom the true Guru unites, and then he remains absorbed in the divine word of the praises of the eternal God. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਘਣੇਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਥਕੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
mitar ghanayray kar thakee mayraa dukh kaatai ko-ay.
I have grown weary of making so many friends, hoping that someone will be able to end my suffering (pangs of separation from God).
ਇਹ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਖੜੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਹਾਰ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
mil pareetam dukh kati-aa sabad milaavaa ho-ay.
My suffering (pangs of separation from God) has ended by uniting with my beloved-God; union with God happens through the Guru’s word.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੁ ਖਟਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
sach khatnaa sach raas hai sachay sachee so-ay.
One who lives righteously, has the true wealth of Naam, he earns the true wealth by remembering God and everlasting is his reputation.
ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ-ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਹੀ ਸੋੰਭਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਪੱਲੇ ਸਚਾਈ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੫੯॥
sach milay say na vichhurheh naanak gurmukh ho-ay. ||4||26||59||
O’ Nanak, those who are united with the eternal God by becoming the Guru’s followers, they never get separated from Him. ||4||26||59||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਜੁਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੫੯॥

Siree Raag, Third Guru:
ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ॥
aapay kaaran kartaa karay sarisat daykhai aap upaa-ay.
The Creator Himself created the creation, He Himself creates the universe and He Himself takes care of it.
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਮੂਲ ਰਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪ (ਹੀ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਏਕੋ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
sabh ayko ik varatdaa alakh na lakhi-aa jaa-ay.
The one and only God is pervading everywhere; He is incomprehensible and cannot be described.
ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ l ਉਹ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ l
ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥
aapay parabhoo da-i-aal hai aapay day-ay bujhaa-ay.
God Himself is merciful and He Himself bestows understanding about the righteous way of living.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਇਆ ਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਦ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
gurmatee sad man vasi-aa sach rahay liv laa-ay. ||1||
Those in whose mind the eternal God manifests through the Guru’s teachings, they always remain focused on Him. ||1||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਲੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
man mayray gur kee man lai rajaa-ay.
O’ my mind, surrender to the will of the Guru. (follow the Guru’s teachings)
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਭੁ ਥੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man tan seetal sabh thee-ai naam vasai man aa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
One who follows the Guru’s teachings, his mind and body become calm and God’s Name manifests within his mind ॥1॥pause॥
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
jin kar kaaran Dhaari-aa so-ee saar karay-i.
The Creator who initiated the creation of the universe, He also takes care of it.
ਜਿਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
gur kai sabad pachhaanee-ai jaa aapay nadar karay-i.
When God Himself bestows His gracious glance, only then we realize Him through the Guru’s teachings.
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਤਦੋਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਬਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਤਿਤੁ ਸਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥
say jan sabday sohnay tit sachai darbaar.
Those who follow the Guru’s teachings, they receive honor in God’s presence.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਆਪਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
gurmukh sachai sabad ratay aap maylay kartaar. ||2|
Those whom the Creator Himself has united with the Guru, they follow the Guru’s teachings and remain imbued with the divine word of God’s praises. ||2|
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਗੁਰੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਣਾ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
gurmatee sach salaahnaa jis daa ant na paaraavaar.
O’ brother, by following the Guru’s teachings, we should praise the eternal God whose virtues have no end and the limits of His creation cannot be known.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ (ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ,ਜਿਸਦਾ ਉਰਲਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਵਸੈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
ghat ghat aapay hukam vasai hukmay karay beechaar.
As per His own will, God dwells in everybody’s heart and takes care of His creation through His command.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਖੋਇ ॥
gur sabdee salaahee-ai ha-umai vichahu kho-ay.
We should praise God by following the Guru’s word and eradicate our ego from within.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਅਵਗਣਵੰਤੀ ਰੋਇ ॥੩॥
saa Dhan naavai baahree avganvantee ro-ay. ||3||
The person who is bereft of God’s Name, becomes full of demerits and grieves.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਚਿ ਲਗਾ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
sach salaahee sach laga sach hai naa-ay taripat ho-ay.
I wish that I may always keep praising God and remain attached to Him, because mind gets satiated only by remembering the eternal God.
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਾ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਕਢਾ ਧੋਇ ॥
gun veechaaree gun sangrahaa avgun kadhaa Dho-ay.
I pray that I may keep reflecting on God’s virtues, accumulate those virtues and wash off the filth of sins from my mind.
ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਔਗੁਣ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਕੱਢ ਦਿਆਂ।
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
aapay mayl milaa-idaa fir vaychhorhaa na ho-ay.
That person whom God unites with Him, never gets separated from Him.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਿਦੂ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੬੦॥
naanak gur saalaahee aapnaa jidoo paa-ee parabh so-ay. ||4||27||60||
O’ Nanak, this is my prayer that I may keep praising my Guru, because God is realized only through the Guru. ||4||27||60||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਰੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੬੦॥

Siree Raag, Third Guru:
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਕਾਮ ਗਹੇਲੀਏ ਕਿਆ ਚਲਹਿ ਬਾਹ ਲੁਡਾਇ ॥
sun sun kaam gahaylee-ay ki-aa chaleh baah ludaa-ay.
Listen: O’ mortal entrapped in worldly desires, why are you wandering through life so carelessly and swinging your arms in joy?
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਰਥ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਏ! ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣ! ਕਿਉਂ ਇਤਨੀ ਲਾ-ਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਨਾਲ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਵਿਚ) ਤੁਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈਂ?
ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਹੀ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
aapnaa pir na pachhaanhee ki-aa muhu dayseh jaa-ay.
(You are so busy in worldly pursuits that) you are not concerned about realizing the master-God now, then how will you face Him after death?
(ਸੁਆਰਥ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰ੍ਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ (ਹੁਣ) ਪਛਾਣਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੀਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਖਾਵੇਂਗੀ?
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਕੰਤੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥
jinee sakheeN kant pachhaani-aa ha-o tin kai laaga-o paa-ay.
I bow in reverence to those Guru’s followers who have realized their Master-God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪਾ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਥੀ ਰਹਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
tin hee jaisee thee rahaa satsangat mayl milaa-ay. ||1||
I wish I could become one like them by joining the holy Congregation. ||1||
(ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਦੇ ਇਕੱਠ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜਿਹੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਵਾਂ॥੧॥
