ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਕਰਿ ਪਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
sabh kichh sundaa vaykh-daa ki-o mukar pa-i-aa jaa-ay.
God sees and hears everything (we do or say), so how can anyone can Him.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਤੇ ਚਿਤਵੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੱਕਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਪਾਪੋ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਪਾਪੇ ਪਚਹਿ ਪਚਾਇ ॥
paapo paap kamaavday paapay pacheh pachaa-ay.
This is why, those who continuously keep committing sins, get consumed by the sins themselves.
(ਤਾਹੀਏਂ) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ (ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ) ਪਾਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਾਪ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦੇ ਭੁੱਜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
so parabh nadar na aavee manmukh boojh na paa-ay.
(Because of their sins) Those self-conceited persons do not understand it and therefore are not able to realize the presence of God.
ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵੇਖਣ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਾਲੇ ਸੋਈ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੫੬॥
jis vaykhaalay so-ee vaykhai naanak gurmukh paa-ay. ||4||23||56||
O’ Nanak, that person alone sees God to whom He reveals Himself. And, such a person has completely submitted to the Guru with utmost reverence.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਵਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ

Siri Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਪੀੜ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
bin gur rog na tut-ee ha-umai peerh na jaa-ay.
Without following the guidance of the Guru, the painful disease of ego does not go away
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਦਰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ।.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
gur parsaadee man vasai naamay rahai samaa-ay.
By Guru’s Grace, God dwells in the heart, and one remains immersed in Naam.
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ-ਸਦਕਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
gur sabdee har paa-ee-ai bin sabdai bharam bhulaa-ay. ||1||
It is through the Guru’s Word that one realizes God, and without the Guru’s teachings, one is lost in doubts and illusions.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
man ray nij ghar vaasaa ho-ay.
O’ my mind, dwell in your real Home, your inner self.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam saalaahi too fir aavan jaan na ho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
(O’ my mind) Keep praising God by reciting Naam, so that you may not have to go through the process of coming and going (in and out of this world) again.
ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਤਾਂ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ (ਦਾ ਗੇੜ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ l
ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
har iko daataa varatdaa doojaa avar na ko-ay.
The One God alone is the Giver, pervading everywhere. There is no other at all.
ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
sabad saalaahee man vasai sehjay hee sukh ho-ay.
When praised through the Guru’s Word, He comes to abide in our hearts and we attain peace effortlessly.
ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਨਦਰੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
sabh nadree andar vaykh-daa jai bhaavai tai day-ay. ||2||
Everything is within God’s Glance of Grace. As He wishes, He gives.
ਹਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਹਉਮੈ ਸਭਾ ਗਣਤ ਹੈ ਗਣਤੈ ਨਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
ha-umai sabhaa ganat hai gantai na-o sukh naahi.
It is because of egotism that we count all our good deeds and actions. And, because of this counting, we cannot attain peace.
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਗਿਣਤੀਆਂ। ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਮੇ ਗਿਣਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਸੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਬਿਖੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
bikh kee kaar kamaavnee bikh hee maahi samaahi.
By doing deeds in ego, we are consumed by ego (poison) itself.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ, ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਠਉਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
bin naavai tha-ur na paa-inee jam pur dookh sahaahi. ||3||
Without recitation of Naam, they find no spiritual solace, stay entangled in vices and keep suffering due to the cycles of birth and death.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ, ਤੇ ਜਮ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
jee-o pind sabh tis daa tisai daa aaDhaar.
Body and soul all belong to Him; He is the Support of all.
ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਸਰਾ-ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ l
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
gur parsaadee bujhee-ai taa paa-ay mokh du-aar.
If through the Guru’s grace one understands, this fact, then one attains liberation from vices.
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲਵੇ, ਤਦੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੫੭॥
naanak naam salaahi tooN ant na paaraavaar. ||4||24||57||
O’ Nanak, sing the praises of Naam whose virtues are limitless.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ l

Siree Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਤਿਨਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
tinaa anand sadaa sukh hai jinaa sach naam aaDhaar.
Those who have the Support of Naam, are in ecstasy and enjoy peace forever.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
gur sabdee sach paa-i-aa dookh nivaaranhaar.
Through the Guru’s Word, they have realized the True One, who is capable of destroying all pain.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sadaa sadaa saachay gun gaavahi saachai naa-ay pi-aar.
Forever and ever, they sing the Glorious Praises of the True One and they love Naam dearly.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਤੋਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
kirpaa kar kai aapnee diton bhagat bhandaar. ||1||
God Himself has granted His Grace and bestowed upon them, the treasure of devotional worship.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ l
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
man ray sadaa anand gun gaa-ay.
O’ my mind! Sing His Glorious Praises, and be in ecstasy forever.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sachee banee har paa-ee-ai har si-o rahai samaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Through the True Word, God is realized, and one remains fascinated with Him.
ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਤਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
sachee bhagtee man laal thee-aa rataa sahj subhaa-ay.
In true devotion, the mind is imbued in the deep crimson color of God’s Love, with intuitive peace and poise.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੂੜਾ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
gur sabdee man mohi-aa kahnaa kachhoo na jaa-ay.
By reflection on the Guru’s Word, the mind gets so fascinated that the experience gained cannot be described.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਮਸਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਮਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰਤੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਰਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
jihvaa ratee sabad sachai amrit peevai ras gun gaa-ay.
The tongue imbued with the True Naam, drinks the immortal nectar with delight, singing God’s Glorious Praises.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
gurmukh ayhu rang paa-ee-ai jis no kirpaa karay rajaa-ay. ||2||
The follower of the Guru’s teachings obtains this love, when God, in His Will, grants His Grace.
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਸਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
sansaa ih sansaar hai suti-aa rain vihaa-ay.
This world is an illusion; people pass their life-nights sleeping. (consumed by the pursuit of worldly temptations).
ਜਗਤ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਤੌਖਲੇ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, (ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਤਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ-ਰੂਪ) ਰਾਤ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਕਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਢਿ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
ik aapnai bhaanai kadh la-i-an aapay la-i-on milaa-ay.
By the Pleasure of His Will, He lifts some out, and unites them with Himself.
ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇ ॥
aapay hee aap man vasi-aa maa-i-aa moh chukaa-ay.
He Himself comes to dwell in the mind by driving out Maya. (illusion of worldly attachment).
ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੩॥
aap vadaa-ee ditee-an gurmukh day-ay bujhaa-ay. ||3||
He Himself grants them glory by conferring true realization upon them through the Guru.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਹੀ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ) ਸਮਝਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਲਏ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥
sabhnaa kaa daataa ayk hai bhuli-aa la-ay samjhaa-ay.
God is the Supporter of all. He Himself corrects those who make mistakes.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਸੂਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਛਡਿਅਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
ik aapay aap khu-aa-i-an doojai chhadi-an laa-ay.
He Himself has let some go astray (spiritually), by attaching them to duality.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
gurmatee har paa-ee-ai jotee jot milaa-ay.
By following the Guru’s Teachings, God is realized (duality vanishes) and one’s light merges into the Supreme Light (God).
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੫੮॥
an-din naamay rati-aa naanak naam samaa-ay. ||4||25||58||
O’ Nanak, by always remaining imbued with love of God’s Name one merges in that Name itself.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l

Siree Raag, by the Third Guru;
ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
gunvantee sach paa-i-aa tarisnaa taj vikaar.
The meritorious soul-bride (who follows the Guru) has attained eternal God by shedding worldly desires and all vices.
ਗੁਣਵਾਨ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਆਦਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
gur sabdee man rangi-aa rasnaa paraym pi-aar.
The mind (of the virtuous soul-bride) is imbued with the Word of the Guru and is in joy, reciting Naam with deep love and fervor.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
