ਸਬਦਿ ਮੰਨਿਐ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
sabad mani-ai gur paa-ee-ai vichahu aap gavaa-ay.
Only when one obeys the Guru’s word and removes self conceit, then one realizes God, the ultimate Guru.
ਗੁਰ-ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਪਾਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
an-din bhagat karay sadaa saachay kee liv laa-ay.
He always worships the eternal God with mind attuned to Him.
ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੫੨॥
naam padaarath man vasi-aa naanak sahj samaa-ay. ||4||19||52||
O’ Nanak, the wealth of Naam dwells in the mind, and he intuitively merges in the eternal God.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l

Siree Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਜਿਨੀ ਪੁਰਖੀ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸੇ ਦੁਖੀਏ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ ॥
jinee purkhee satgur na sayvi-o say dukhee-ay jug chaar.
They who have not followed the teachings of the true Guru always remain miserable.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਘਰਿ ਹੋਦਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਿ ਮੁਠੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ॥
ghar hodaa purakh na pachhaani-aa abhimaan muthay ahaNkaar.
The Primal Being (God) is within their own heart, but they do not recognize Him. They are plundered by their egotistical pride and arrogance.
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ-ਪ੍ਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿੰਞਾਣਦੇ। ਉਹ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਰੂਰ ਨੇ ਠੱਗ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਗੁਰੂ ਕਿਆ ਫਿਟਕਿਆ ਮੰਗਿ ਥਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
satguroo ki-aa fitki-aa mang thakay sansaar.
Rejected by the true Guru because of their ego, they wander around the world begging, until they are exhausted.
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਧ੍ਰਿਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਝੋਲੀ ਟੱਡਦੇ ਹੋਏ (ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ) ਹੰਭ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
sachaa sabad na sayvi-o sabh kaaj savaaranhaar. ||1||
They do not meditate on the Guru’s true word, which can accomplish all tasks.
ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਉਸ ਅਟੱਲ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ l
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੁ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
man mayray sadaa har vaykh hadoor.
O’ my mind, see and feel the presence of God right besides you.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੇਖ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam maran dukh parharai sabad rahi-aa bharpoor. ||1|| rahaa-o.
He destroys the pains of birth and death, and is fully pervading everywhere in the form of the Guru’s word.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
sach salaahan say sachay sachaa naam aDhaar.
Those who praise the True One also become true and God’s Name becomes their one and only one support.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sachee kaar kamaavnee sachay naal pi-aar.
They act truthfully (meditate on God’s Name with love and devotion), they are imbued with the love for God).
ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
sachaa saahu varatdaa ko-ay na maytanhaar.
The True King (God) has written His Order, which no one can erase.
ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਲੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ॥੨॥
manmukh mahal na paa-inee koorh muthay koorhi-aar. ||2||
The self-willed people never attain to God’s court. These false ones are plundered by falsehood.
ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਮਹਲ ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਅੱਪੜਦੇ। ਉਹ ਝੂਠੇ, ਝੂਠ ਨੇ ਠੱਗ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਗੁ ਮੁਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥
ha-umai kartaa jag mu-aa gur bin ghor anDhaar.
Engrossed in egotism, the entire world is perishing spiritually. Without the guidance of the Guru, there is utter darkness of ignorance.
ਮੈਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖ਼ਚਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਹਾਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇਰ ਘੁੱਪ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
maa-i-aa mohi visaari-aa sukh-daata daataar.
In the love for Maya (worldly riches and power), the world has forgotten God, the Giver of Peace.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਨੇ) ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਉਬਰਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਰਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
satgur sayveh taa ubreh sach rakheh ur Dhaar.
Those who serve the True Guru and follow his teachings are saved; they keep the True One enshrined in their hearts.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਦੋਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
kirpaa tay har paa-ee-ai sach sabad veechaar. ||3||
God can be realized by His Grace by reflecting on the Guru’s eternal Word.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
satgur sayv man nirmalaa ha-umai taj vikaar.
By following the teachings of the True Guru, the mind becomes immaculate, egotism and vices are dispelled.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥
aap chhod jeevat marai gur kai sabad veechaar.
By reflecting on the Guru’s word, one sheds self conceit, as if one has died while still alive.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਧੰਧਾ ਧਾਵਤ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
DhanDhaa Dhaavat reh ga-ay laagaa saach pi-aar.
The pursuit of worldly affairs comes to an end, when you embrace love for God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਝਮੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਤਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
sach ratay mukh ujlay tit saachai darbaar. ||4||
They who are attuned to Truth-their faces are radiant with honor in God’s Court.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਮੰਨਿਓ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
satgur purakh na mani-o sabad na lago pi-aar.
Those who do not have faith in the Primal Being, the True Guru, and who do not enshrine love for the Guru’s word,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹਬਰ) ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਿਆ।
ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਜੇਤਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
isnaan daan jaytaa karahi doojai bhaa-ay khu-aar.
all their ablutions and charities are wasted and they are ultimately consumed by their love of duality.
ਉਹ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਤੀਰਥ-ਨ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਖੈਰਾਤ ਪਏ ਦੇਣ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮੋਹ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ!
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
har jee-o aapnee kirpaa karay taa laagai naam pi-aar.
When God Himself grants His Grace, they are inspired to love the Naam.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥੫॥੨੦॥੫੩॥
naanak naam samaal too gur kai hayt apaar. ||5||20||53||
O’ Nanak, through the Infinite Love and devotion for the Guru, meditate on God’s Name and enshrine Him in your heart.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ

Siree Raag, by the Third Guru:
ਕਿਸੁ ਹਉ ਸੇਵੀ ਕਿਆ ਜਪੁ ਕਰੀ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
kis ha-o sayvee ki-aa jap karee satgur poochha-o jaa-ay.
When I go and ask my Guru. Whom shall I serve? What shall I meditate upon?
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਜਪ ਕਰਾਂ?
ਸਤਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਲਈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
satgur kaa bhaanaa man la-ee vichahu aap gavaa-ay.
I should accept the Will of the True Guru, and eradicate selfishness from within.
(ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਾਂ।
ਏਹਾ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
ayhaa sayvaa chaakree naam vasai man aa-ay.
By this service and devotion, the Naam shall come to dwell within my mind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਐਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਇ ॥੧॥
naamai hee tay sukh paa-ee-ai sachai sabad suhaa-ay. ||1||
Through the Naam, peace is obtained; I am spiritually embellished by the True Word of the Guru.
ਕੇਵਲ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ॥
man mayray an-din jaag har chayt.
O, my mind, always remain wakeful from the attacks of vices, and meditate upon God’ Name with love and devotion.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹੁ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰ।
ਆਪਣੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਰਖਿ ਲੈ ਕੂੰਜ ਪੜੈਗੀ ਖੇਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aapnee khaytee rakh lai kooNj parhaigee khayt. ||1|| rahaa-o.
In this way, protect the crop (of your spiritual life), lest the flamingo (old age) suddenly invade the field (of your body and nullify all your spiritual endeavors).
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ। ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਤ ਵਿਚ ਕੂੰਜ ਆ ਪਏਗੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਬਿਰਧ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚੇਗੀ)
ਮਨ ਕੀਆ ਇਛਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
man kee-aa ichhaa pooree-aa sabad rahi-aa bharpoor.
The desires of the mind are fulfilled, when one’s heart remains filled with the shabad (divine word).
ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀ-ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਿਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
bhai bhaa-ay bhagat karahi din raatee har jee-o vaykhai sadaa hadoor.
One who meditates on God’s Name day and night with love and devotion for God, always sees Him manifest before him.
ਜੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਡਰ, ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਰੈਣ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਸਰੀਰਹੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
sachai sabad sadaa man raataa bharam ga-i-aa sareerahu door.
Doubt runs far away from those, whose minds remain forever attuned to the divine word.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਚਾ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰੁ ॥੨॥
nirmal saahib paa-i-aa saachaa gunee gaheer. ||2||
They have realized the immaculate Master, the eternal treasure of virtues.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਰੂਪ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨl
ਜੋ ਜਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਸੂਤੇ ਗਏ ਮੁਹਾਇ ॥
jo jaagay say ubray sootay ga-ay muhaa-ay.
they who remain aware of the worldly temptations are saved from the vices, and they who remain unaware are plundered of their spiritual wealth.
ਜੋ ਖ਼ਬਰਦਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਏ ਲੁੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਿਓ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਗਇਆ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
sachaa sabad na pachhaani-o supnaa ga-i-aa vihaa-ay.
They do not realize the True Word of the Guru, and like a dream their lives fade away in vain.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੁੰਞੇ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਪਾਹੁਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
sunjay ghar kaa paahunaa ji-o aa-i-aa ti-o jaa-ay.
Like the guests in a deserted house, they leave the world empty handed, just exactly as they came into it.
ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ-ਹੱਥ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇਂ ਸੁੰਞੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਆ ਕੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
