ਕਉਨੁ ਕੋ ਪੂਤੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਾ ਕੋ ॥
ka-un ko poot pitaa ko kaa ko.
Whose is the son and of whom is anyone the father
ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ? ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ? (ਭਾਵ, ਪਿਉ ਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਕ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ),
ਕਉਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਕੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੰਤਾਪੋ ॥੧॥
ka-un marai ko day-ay santaapo. ||1||
Who dies and who inflicts pain?||1||
ਕੌਣ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੌਣ (ਇਸ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਿਛਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਠਗ ਜਗ ਕਉ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਲਾਈ ॥
har thag jag ka-o thag-uree laa-ee.
God, the Charmer, has administered the potion of Maya to the entire world;
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਠੱਗ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਬਿਓਗ ਕੈਸੇ ਜੀਅਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har kay bi-og kaisay jee-a-o mayree maa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ mother, separated from God, how can I spiritually survive. ||1||pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਂ! (ਇਸ ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ) ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਅੰਦਰ, ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਉਂਦੀ ਰਹਾਂਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਉਨ ਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਉਨ ਕੀ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
ka-un ko purakh ka-un kee naaree.
who is the husband and of whom is the wife
ਕੌਣ ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕੌਣ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਹੈ?
ਇਆ ਤਤ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
i-aa tat layho sareer bichaaree. ||2||
Contemplate this reality about the human body that none of the relationships are forever. ||2||
ਇਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਮਝੋ ( ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੀ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਸਮਝੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਠਗ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
kahi kabeer thag si-o man maani-aa.
Kabeer says, my mind is pleased and satisfied with the divine Charmer.
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ- ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਹੁਣ ਠੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਗਈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਠਗੁ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥੩੯॥
ga-ee thag-uree thag pehchaani-aa. ||3||39||
I have recognized the divine charmer and for me the potion of Maya has vanished. ||3||39||
ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਠਗ-ਬੂਟੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੩੯॥
ਅਬ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
ab mo ka-o bha-ay raajaa raam sahaa-ee.
Now the sovereign God has become my helper.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਟਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam maran kat param gat paa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
napping the bonds leading to the cycles of birth and death, I have attained the supreme spiritual status. ||1||pause||
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੀ (ਬੇੜੀ) ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀਓ ਰਲਾਇ ॥
saaDhoo sangat dee-o ralaa-ay.
God has united me with the holy congregation and
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤੇ ਲੀਓ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
panch doot tay lee-o chhadaa-ay.
has rescued me from the five demons (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego).
ਤੇ (ਕਾਮ ਆਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਉ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
amrit naam japa-o jap rasnaa.
Now I chant with my tongue and meditate on God’s ambrosial Name.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਮਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਮੋਲ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਅਪਨਾ ॥੧॥
amol daas kar leeno apnaa. ||1||
This way God has made me his servant without paying any price.||1||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਗੋੱਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੋ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ॥
satgur keeno par-upkaar.
The True Guru has blessed me with His generosity,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਬੜੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਨ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
kaadh leen saagar sansaar
and pulled me out of the world-ocean.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
charan kamal si-o laagee pareet.
Now, I am attuned to the immaculate God,
ਮੇਰੀ ਹੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਬਸੈ ਨਿਤਾ ਨਿਤ ਚੀਤ ॥੨॥
gobind basai nitaa nit cheet. ||2||
and the Master of the Universe always dwells in my heart. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਅੰਗਿਆਰੁ ॥
maa-i-aa tapat bujhi-aa angi-aar.
The burning desires of Maya has been extinguished.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੜਨ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਭਾਂਬੜ ਬੁੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ;
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
man santokh naam aaDhaar.
My mind is contented with the Support of Naam.
(ਹੁਣ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਹੈ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
jal thal poor rahay parabh su-aamee.
The Master-God is totally permeating the water and the land.
ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਖਸਮ ਜੀ ਵੱਸ ਰਹੇ (ਜਾਪਦੇ) ਹਨ;
ਜਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਤ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
jat paykha-o tat antarjaamee. ||3||
Wherever I look, I see the inner knower of all hearts. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਧਰ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਓਧਰ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ) ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਈ ॥
apnee bhagat aap hee darirhaa-ee.
God Himself has implanted His devotional worship within me.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰਬ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥
poorab likhat mili-aa mayray bhaa-ee.
O’ my brother, I just obtained what was preordained for me.
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਵੀਰ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ) ਪਿਛਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ (ਮੇਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ)।
ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਾਜ ॥
jis kirpaa karay tis pooran saaj.
One on whom He shows His Grace, accomplishes the goal of human life.
ਜਿਸ (ਭੀ ਜੀਵ) ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਲਈ (ਅਜਿਹਾ) ਸੋਹਣਾ ਸਬੱਬ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥੪॥੪੦॥
kabeer ko su-aamee gareeb nivaaj. ||4||40||
Kabeer’s Master is the Cherisher of the humble and meek. ||4||40||
ਕਬੀਰ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਵਾਜਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪੦॥
ਜਲਿ ਹੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਥਲਿ ਹੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸੂਤਕ ਓਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
jal hai sootak thal hai sootak sootak opat ho-ee.
If birth and death are the cause of impurity then all the waters and all the lands are impure, because insects and bacteria are being born and are dying in these.
ਜੇ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੂਤਕ ਦੀ ਭਿੱਟ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੂਤਕ ਹੈ, ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਸੂਤਕ ਹੈ,(ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਸੂਤਕ ਦੀ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਹੈ
ਜਨਮੇ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਮੂਏ ਫੁਨਿ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸੂਤਕ ਪਰਜ ਬਿਗੋਈ ॥੧॥
janmay sootak moo-ay fun sootak sootak paraj bigo-ee. ||1||
If there is impurity in birth and also in death then the entire world is being ruined in the superstition of impurity ||1||
ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਸੂਤਕ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਫਿਰ ਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਭੀ ਸੂਤਕ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਇਸ ਭਿੱਟ ਤੇ ਭਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਹੁ ਰੇ ਪੰਡੀਆ ਕਉਨ ਪਵੀਤਾ ॥
kaho ray pandee-aa ka-un paveetaa.
O’ Pandit, tell me who is clean and pure?
ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਦੱਸ ਕੌਣ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ?
ਐਸਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aisaa gi-aan japahu mayray meetaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my friend, carefully reflect on this wisdom.||1||pause||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਤੇ ਦੱਸ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨੈਨਹੁ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਬੈਨਹੁ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
nainhu sootak bainhu sootak sootak sarvanee ho-ee.
Those eyes are impure that look with evil intention, that tongue is impure that slanders and those ears are impure that listen to evil words.
ਸਾਡੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਚਾਲਣ ਆਦਿਕ ਹਰਕਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਕਈ ਸੂਖਮ ਜੀਵ ਮਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਭ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਸੂਤਕ ਹੈ।
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਪਰੈ ਰਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
oothat baithat sootak laagai sootak parai raso-ee. ||2||
This way we are being contaminated by whatever we do; our kitchen is also impure because there are insects and bacteria in the firewood and water. ||2||
ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਸੂਤਕ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਾਡੀ) ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਸੂਤਕ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਫਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ ਜਾਨੈ ਛੂਟਨ ਕੀ ਇਕੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
faasan kee biDh sabh ko-oo jaanai chhootan kee ik ko-ee.
Everybody knows how to entangle people in such superstitions but only a rare one knows the way to escape from these.
(ਜਿੱਧਰ ਵੇਖੋ) ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ (ਸੂਤਕ ਦੇ ਭਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਫਸਣ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਢੰਗ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਕਰਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੈ।
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥੪੧॥
kahi kabeer raam ridai bichaarai sootak tinai na ho-ee. ||3||41||
Kabeer says, those who contemplate on God in their heart are not affected by this impurity. ||3||41||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜੋ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ) ਭਿੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ ॥੩॥੪੧॥

ਝਗਰਾ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਬੇਰਹੁ ਰਾਮ ॥
jhagraa ayk nibayrahu raam.
O’ God, please resolve this one conflict,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!,ਇਹ ਇਕ (ਵੱਡਾ) ਸ਼ੰਕਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ,
ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਅਪਨੇ ਜਨ ਸੌ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ja-o tum apnay jan sou kaam. ||1|| rahaa-o.
If You want your humble devotee to meditate on You. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਜਾ ਸਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
ih man badaa ke jaa sa-o man maani-aa.
Is this mind mightier or the One to whom the mind is attuned?
ਕੀ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ (ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)?
ਰਾਮੁ ਬਡਾ ਕੈ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥
raam badaa kai raameh jaani-aa. ||1||
Is God greater, or the one who realizes God?”||1||
ਕੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਤਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਸਤਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਉਹ ਮਹਾਂਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ), ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਜਾਸੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
barahmaa badaa ke jaas upaa-i-aa.
Is Brahma greater, or the One who created Him?
ਕੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇਵਤਾ) ਬਲੀ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?
ਬੇਦੁ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਜਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
bayd badaa ke jahaaN tay aa-i-aa. ||2||
Are the Vedas greater or the Source from where they originated?”||2||
ਕੀ ਵੇਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ) ਸਿਰ-ਨਿਵਾਉਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਉਹ (ਮਹਾਂਪੁਰਖ) ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ (ਇਹ ਗਿਆਨ) ਮਿਲਿਆ? ॥੨॥
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਭਇਆ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥

Kabeer says, I am undecided;
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਉੱਠ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਤੀਰਥੁ ਬਡਾ ਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ॥੩॥੪੨॥
tirath badaa ke har kaa daas. ||3||42||
is the sacred shrine of pilgrimage greater or the devotee of God because of whose devotion that place became sacred? ||3||42||
ਕਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਪੂਜਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ (ਉਹ) ਭਗਤ (ਵਧੀਕ ਪੂਜਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਹ ਤੀਰਥ ਬਣਿਆ) ॥੩॥੪੨॥

Behold O’ brother, by the virtue of devotional worship, my mind was struck by the storm of divine knowledge.
ਵੇਖ ਭਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰੀ ਆਈ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੈ ਉਡਾਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਟਾਟੀ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਾਂਧੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sabhai udaanee bharam kee taatee rahai na maa-i-aa baaNDhee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Which blew away my doubts and bonds of Maya like the thatched walls of my hut. ||1||pause||
ਇਹ ਵਹਿਮ ਦੇ ਛਪਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਡਾ ਲੈ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੱਕ ਭੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੁਚਿਤੇ ਕੀ ਦੁਇ ਥੂਨਿ ਗਿਰਾਨੀ ਮੋਹ ਬਲੇਡਾ ਟੂਟਾ ॥
duchitay kee du-ay thoon giraanee moh balaydaa tootaa.
My double-mindedness and emotional bonds broke as if both the pillars and the beam of the hut came crashing down.
ਦੁਚਿਤੇ-ਪਣ ਦੇ ਦੋਨੋਂ ਥਮਲੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਤੀਰ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸਨਾ ਛਾਨਿ ਪਰੀ ਧਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਫੂਟਾ ॥੧॥
tisnaa chhaan paree Dhar oopar durmat bhaaNdaa footaa. ||1||
The thatched roof of worldly desires has fallen to the ground and the pitcher of evil intellect has broken. ||1||
ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਕੱਖਾ ਦੀ ਛੱਤ ਜਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਦਾ ਬਰਤਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
