naanak larh laa-ay uDhaari-an da-yu sayv amitaa. ||19||
O’ Nanak, lovingly remember that infinite God, who has saved lot of beings by uniting them with His Name.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਐਸੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵ) ਬਚਾਏ ਹਨ l

Salok, Fifth Guru:
ਧੰਧੜੇ ਕੁਲਾਹ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹੇਕੜੋ ॥
DhanDh-rhay kulaah chit na aavai haykrho.
Worldly affairs are unprofitable if God does not come to mind.
ਉਹ ਕੋਝੇ ਧੰਧੇ ਘਾਟੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਾ ਆਵੇ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਤੰਨ ਫੁਟੰਨਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਾਂਈ ਵਿਸਰੈ ॥੧॥
naanak say-ee tann futann jinaa saaN-ee visrai. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the bodies of those who forget their Master-God become afflicted with vices. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Fifth Guru:
ਪਰੇਤਹੁ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੇ ॥
paraytahu keeton dayvtaa tin karnaihaaray.
Bestowing Naam, the Creator has converted an evil doer into a virtuous person.
ਉਸ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਤੋਂ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੇ ਸਿਖ ਉਬਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
sabhay sikh ubaari-an parabh kaaj savaaray.
God has saved all His disciples from the vices and resolved their affairs.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਪਕੜਿ ਪਛਾੜਿਅਨੁ ਝੂਠੇ ਦਰਬਾਰੇ ॥
nindak pakarh pachhaarhi-an jhoothay darbaaray.
He has destroyed the slanderers and declared them false in His presence.
ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ, ਧਰਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਟਕਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੂੜੇ ਕਰਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੈ ਆਪਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
naanak kaa parabh vadaa hai aap saaj savaaray. ||2||
Great is Nanak’s God, Who Himself creates and adorns the mortals. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਵਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Pauree:
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
parabh bay-ant kichh ant naahi sabh tisai karnaa.
God is infinite, He has no limit, and He has created the entire universe.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੋ ਜੀਆਂ ਕਾ ਪਰਣਾ ॥
agam agochar saahibo jee-aaN kaa parnaa.
The incomprehensible and unfathomable Master is the support of all the beings.
ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਸਤ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਦਾ ਭਰਣ ਪੋਖਣੁ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
hasat day-ay partipaaldaa bharan pokhan karnaa.
By extending His support, He nurtures and cherishes all.
ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਚੇ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
miharvaan bakhsind aap jap sachay tarnaa.
He Himself is merciful and forgiving, and by remembering Him the mortals swim across the world-ocean of vices.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਤਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਸਰਣਾ ॥੨੦॥
jo tuDh bhaavai so bhalaa naanak daas sarnaa. ||20||
O’ devotee Nanak, say, O’ God, whatever pleases You is good, we seek Your shelter. ||20||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ‘ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਹਾਂ’।

Salok, Fifth Guru:
ਤਿੰਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਕਾ ਰਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
tinnaa bhukh na kaa rahee jis daa parabh hai so-ay.
All those who have God as their support, yearn no more for Maya (materialism).
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗਿਆ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਭੋ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak charnee lagi-aa uDhrai sabho ko-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, by humbly seeking His refuge, everyone is saved. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

Fifth Guru:
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਬੂਲੁ ॥
jaachik mangai nit naam saahib karay kabool.
The person who begs for Naam every day like a beggar, the Master-God accepts his request.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ ਮਾਲਕ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਜਜਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਮੂਲਿ ॥੨॥
naanak parmaysar jajmaan tiseh bhukh na mool. ||2||
O’ Nanak, a person whose patron is God Himself, has no longing for Maya anymore. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜਜਮਾਨ (ਆਪ) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ l

Pauree:
ਮਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਜੋੜੇ ॥
man rataa govind sang sach bhojan jorhay.
The one whose mind is imbued with God’s love, to him God’s Name is like his good food and clothing.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਤੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕੇ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਏ ਹਸਤੀ ਘੋੜੇ ॥
pareet lagee har naam si-o ay hastee ghorhay.
To him, embracing the love for God’s Name is akin to his wealth and property.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਹਾਥੀ ਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਜ ਮਿਲਖ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਘਣੀ ਧਿਆਇ ਮੁਖੁ ਨ ਮੋੜੇ ॥
raaj milakh khusee-aa ghanee Dhi-aa-ay mukh na morhay.
He remembers God’s Name steadfastly, and for him this is his kingdom and immense pleasure.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਅੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਹੀ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਰਾਜ ਜ਼ਮੀਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਢਾਢੀ ਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਦਰੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਛੋੜੇ ॥
dhaadhee dar parabh mangnaa dar kaday na chhorhay.
Like a minstrel he always begs from God, and never abandons God’s support.
ਉਹ ਢਾਡੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਕਦੇ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਲੋੜੇ ॥੨੧॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ਕੀਚੇ
naanak man tan chaa-o ayhu nit parabh ka-o lorhay. ||21||1|| suDh keechay
O’ Nanak, he has this longing in his mind and body, and he continually longs for union with God.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਚਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਤਾਂਘਦਾ ਹੈ l

ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik-oNkaar satnaam kartaa purakh gur parsaad.
One eternal God, He is The creator and is realized by the Guru’s Grace.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ’ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕੇ ਚਉਪਦੇ ੧੪ ॥

Raag Gauree Gwaarayree, fourteen Chau-Padas of Kabir Jee:
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਜਲਤ ਰਾਮ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
ab mohi jalat raam jal paa-i-aa.
I was burning in the fire of desires and now I have found the nectar of God’s Name,
ਮੈਂ ਮਚ ਰਹੇ ਨੂੰ (ਸੜਦਿਆਂ, ਤਪਦਿਆਂ ) ਹੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਉਦਕਿ ਤਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam udak tan jalat bujhaa-i-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
and this nectar of God’s Name has cooled my body which was burning in cravings for worldly things. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੜਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਠੰਢ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ l
ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਣ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਬਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
man maaran kaaran ban jaa-ee-ai.
To subdue our minds, we go to the forests,
ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਲ (ਤੀਰਥ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ (ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਜਲੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
so jal bin bhagvant na paa-ee-ai. ||1||
but that nectar of Naam can’t be found without remembrance of God. ||1||
ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜਿਹ ਪਾਵਕ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਹੈ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
jih paavak sur nar hai jaaray.
That fire of craving for worldly things which has consumed angels and mortal beings,
ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਜਿਸ ਅੱਗ ਨੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਸਨ,
ਰਾਮ ਉਦਕਿ ਜਨ ਜਲਤ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
raam udak jan jalat ubaaray. ||2||
the nectar of God’s Name has saved them from burning in the fire of those cravings ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
bhav saagar sukh saagar maahee.
In the terrifying world-ocean, these devotees have found an ocean of peace,
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ l
ਪੀਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਜਲ ਨਿਖੁਟਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੩॥
peev rahay jal nikhutat naahee. ||3||
and they continue to partake the nectar of Naam which is never exhausted. ||3||
ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਪੀ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ l
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
kahi Kabir bhaj saringpaanee.
Kabir says, (O’ my mind), remember God with love and devotion,
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ,
ਰਾਮ ਉਦਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
raam udak mayree tikhaa bujhaanee. ||4||1||
because the nectar of God’s Name has quenched my thirst for Maya. ||4||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥

Raag Gauree, Kabir Jee:
ਮਾਧਉ ਜਲ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
maaDha-o jal kee pi-aas na jaa-ay.
O’ God, my thirst for the nectar of Naam will not go away.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਮਿਟਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ l
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਉਠੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jal meh agan uthee aDhikaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Upon partaking the nectar of Naam, my longing for remembering Your Name has increased even more. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ ਪੀਂਦਿਆਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਹਉ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਮੀਨੁ ॥
tooN jalniDh ha-o jal kaa meen.
O’ God, You are like the Ocean of water, and I am like a fish in that water.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਜਲ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਸਮੁੰਦਰ) ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਜਲ ਦਾ ਮੱਛ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਉ ਜਲਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖੀਨੁ ॥੧॥
jal meh raha-o jaleh bin kheen. ||1||
As long as I live in that water (meditate on You), I survive, but as soon as I go out of that water (forget You), I become so weak as if I am about to die. ||1||
ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ; ਜਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥
ਤੂੰ ਪਿੰਜਰੁ ਹਉ ਸੂਅਟਾ ਤੋਰ ॥
tooN pinjar ha-o soo-ataa tor.
You are like the cage, and I am like Your frail parrot.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿੰਜਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਜਿਹਾ ਤੋਤਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਮੁ ਮੰਜਾਰੁ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਮੋਰ ॥੨॥
jam manjaar kahaa karai mor. ||2||
So, what can any cat (demon of death) do to me? ||2||
ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ) ਜਮ-ਰੂਪ ਬਿੱਲਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੀਹ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਤੂੰ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਹਉ ਪੰਖੀ ਆਹਿ ॥
tooN tarvar ha-o pankhee aahi.
O’ God, You are like the tree and I am like the bird perched on it.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ (ਉਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਪੰਛੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੰਦਭਾਗੀ ਤੇਰੋ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
mand-bhaagee tayro darsan naahi. ||3||
But due to my bad luck, I cannot behold Your blessed vision.||3||
(ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗੀ ਨੂੰ (ਅਜੇ ਤਕ) ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਸੀਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ।
