ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ਘਾਲਨਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਨ ਲਭਨੀ ਕਿਤੈ ਥਾਇ ਭਾਲੇ ॥
sachiar sikh bahi satgur paas ghaalan koorhiar na labhe kitai thaa-ay bhaalay.
The true disciples stay in the true Guru’s presence and follow his teachings, but even when searched for, the false ones are not found anywhere.
ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਘਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਥੇ ਕੂੜ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਲੱਭਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦੇ।
ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੁਖਾਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਮੁਹ ਭਲੇਰੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਦਯਿ ਗਾਲੇ ॥
jinaa satgur kaa aakhi-aa sukhaavai naahee tinaa muh bhalayray fireh da-yi gaalay.
Those who are not pleased with the Words of the True Guru – their faces are cursed, and they wander around, condemned by God.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖਸਮ ਵਲੋਂ ਫਿਟਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ਸੇ ਕਿਚਰਕੁ ਵੇਰਾਈਅਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥
jin andar pareet nahee har kayree say kichrak vayraa-ee-an manmukh baytaalay.
These self-conceited demons, who have no love for God, cannot be consoled for long.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰੇ ਭੂਤਨੇ, ਕਿੰਨੇ ਚਿਰ ਤਾਈਂ ਪਰਚਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁ ਥਾਇ ਰਖੈ ਓਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
satgur no milai so aapnaa man thaa-ay rakhai oh aap vartai aapnee vath naalay.
The one who follows the true Guru’s teaching, stays firm in faith, and spends his life in remembrance of God.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਸਤੂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੈ ਠਗਵਾਲੇ ॥੧॥
jan naanak iknaa gur mayl sukh dayvai ik aapay vakh kadhai thagvaalay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, God unites some with the Guru and blesses them with peace and He separates out the cheats. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਹਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਨਾਂ ਠੱਗੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਦਯਿ ਆਦੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
jinaa andar naam niDhaan har tin kay kaaj da-yi aaday raas.
They, within whom is the treasure of God’s Name, God has Himself accomplished their tasks.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਪ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹੇ ਹਨ;
ਤਿਨ ਚੂਕੀ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਲੋਕਨ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਬੈਠਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
tin chookee muhtaajee lokan kee har parabh ang kar baithaa paas.
Their dependence on humans is ended, because God is always on their side.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਂ ਕਰਤਾ ਵਲਿ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਲਿ ਸਭਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
jaaN kartaa val taa sabh ko val sabh darsan daykh karahi saabaas.
When the Creator is on their side, then everyone is on their side. Beholding their vision, everyone applauds them.
ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਜਦੋਂ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਆਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਪੱਖ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਸਾਹੁ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਆਇ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥
saahu paatisaahu sabh har kaa kee-aa sabh jan ka-o aa-ay karahi rahraas.
Since all the kings and the emperors are all created by God, they all come and bow in reverence to the humble devotee of God.
ਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਭੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ l
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਵਡਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gur pooray kee vadee vadi-aa-ee har vadaa sayv atul sukh paa-i-aa.
This is the greatness of the perfect Guru, that by remembering the great God with loving devotion, the devotee of God has received immeasurable peace.
ਇਹੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੁਲ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਤ ਬਖਸੇ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
gur poorai daan dee-aa har nihchal nit bakhsay charhai savaa-i-aa.
Through the perfect Guru, God gives the everlasting gift of His Name, which multiplies everyday.
ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾਨ ਦਿਨੋ ਦਿਨ ਵਧਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਸੋ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਪਚਾਇਆ ॥
ko-ee nindak vadi-aa-ee daykh na sakai so kartai aap pachaa-i-aa.
The slanderer, who cannot tolerate the glory of the devotee, is destroyed by the Creator Himself.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਜਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਦੁਖੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲੈ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਭਗਤਾ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥
jan naanak gun bolai kartay kay bhagtaa no sadaa rakh-daa aa-i-aa. ||2||
Nanak utters the virtues of the Creator, who has always been protecting the devotees.||2||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ

ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਗਮ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਵਡ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਣਾ ॥
too saahib agam da-i-aal hai vad daataa daanaa.
O’ God, You are incomprehensible, compassionate, and great judicious bestower.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਦਿਆਲ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋ ਦਿਸਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤੂਹੈਂ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ॥
tuDh jayvad mai hor ko dis naa aavee toohaiN sugharh mayrai man bhaanaa.
To me no one else seems as great; You are sagacious, and pleasing to my mind.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਮੋਹੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਦਿਸਿ ਆਵਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਚਲਣਹਾਰਾ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
moh kutamb dis aavdaa sabh chalanhaaraa aavan jaanaa.
The emotional attachment to the family is transitory and is the reason for going into the cycles of birth and death.
ਜੋ ਮੋਹ ਰੂਪ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਬਿਨਸਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਚੇ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦੇ ਸੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜਾ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਣਾ ॥
jo bin sachay horat chit laa-iday say koorhi-aar koorhaa tin maanaa.
Those who attune their mind to any body except God, live in falsehood and false is their pride.
ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਕੂੜ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਇਸ ਤੇ) ਮਾਣ ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਚੇ ਪਚਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਅਜਾਣਾ ॥੧੦॥
naanak sach Dhi-aa-ay too bin sachay pach pach mu-ay ajaanaa. ||10||
O’ Nanak, meditate on God’s Name with love and devotion because without Naam, the ignorant people go through spiritual death all their life.||10||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸੱਚੇ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੂਰਖ ਜੀਵ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਅਗੋ ਦੇ ਸਤ ਭਾਉ ਨ ਦਿਚੈ ਪਿਛੋ ਦੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
ago day sat bhaa-o na dichai pichho day aakhi-aa kamm na aavai.
The person who doesn’t pay proper respect to the Guru at the first time, anything he says afterwards to cover his mistake, doesn’t do any good.
ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਾਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ, ਪਿਛੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਖਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ
ਅਧ ਵਿਚਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਗਲੀ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
aDh vich firai manmukh vaychaaraa galee ki-o sukh paavai.
Such a wretched, self-willed wanders around double-minded; how can he find peace through mere words?
ਉਹ ਅਭਾਗਾ ਦੁਚਿੱਤਾ-ਪਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ) ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ?
ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੁ ਕੂੜੀ ਆਵੈ ਕੂੜੀ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
jis andar pareet nahee satgur kee so koorhee aavai koorhee jaavai.
The one who has no love for the true Guru; he comes to and goes from the Gurdwara to show off or to please others.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਚਾਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਉਣ ਜਾਣ ਲੋਕਾਚਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ ॥
jay kirpaa karay mayraa har parabh kartaa taaN satgur paarbarahm nadree aavai.
If my Creator-God shows mercy on him, then he sees God in the true Guru.
ਜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ।)
ਤਾ ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਵੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਾੜਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਵੈ ॥
taa api-o peevai sabad gur kayraa sabh kaarhaa andaysaa bharam chukhaavai.
Then he partakes the nectar of the Guru’s word, and all his dread, anxiety and doubt is dispelled.
ਉਹ ਤਦ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ-ਰੂਪ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਝੋਰਾ, ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਸਭ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
sadaa anand rahai din raatee jan naanak an-din har gun gaavai. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the one who always sings the praises of God, remains in bliss ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l

Salok, Fourth Guru:
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਅਖਾਏ ਸੁ ਭਲਕੇ ਉਠਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
gur satgur kaa jo sikh akhaa-ay so bhalkay uth har naam Dhi-aavai.
The one who calls himself a disciple of the True Guru, rising up in the early morning everyday, meditates on God’s Name with loving devotion.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰੋਜ਼ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਭਲਕੇ ਪਰਭਾਤੀ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ॥
udam karay bhalkay parbhaatee isnaan karay amrit sar naavai.
Making the effort of rising up in the early morning, takes a shower and then is so absorbed in remembering God as if bathing in the pond of divine nectar.
ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਟੁੱਭੀ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਦੋਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
updays guroo har har jap jaapai sabh kilvikh paap dokh leh jaavai.
following Guru’s guidance, he meditates on God’s Name. this way all his sufferings due to any sins and vices are removed.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ-ਵਿਕਾਰ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਫਿਰਿ ਚੜੈ ਦਿਵਸੁ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵੈ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
fir charhai divas gurbaanee gaavai bahdi-aa uth-di-aa har naam Dhi-aavai.
Later in the day he sings hymns of God’s praises and while doing daily chores he reflects on God’s Name.
ਫਿਰ ਦਿਨ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਦਿਹਾੜੀ) ਬਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਉੱਠਦਿਆਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਾਰ-ਕਿਰਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਏ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
jo saas giraas Dhi-aa-ay mayraa har har so gursikh guroo man bhaavai.
Such a Gursikh (disciple), who lovingly meditates upon God with each and every breath, is very pleasing to the Guru’s mind.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਦਮ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
