ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਊਤਮ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
gi-aan saraysat ootam isnaan.
the most sublime wisdom and the most exalted ablution,
ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਗਿਆਨ, ਚੰਗੇ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ l
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
chaar padaarath kamal pargaas.
the four cardinal boons (faith, wealth, procreation and liberation) and such inner joy, as if the heart has blossomed like a lotus.
(ਧਰਮ, ਅਰਥ, ਕਾਮ, ਮੋਖ) ਚਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ, ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਕਮਲ ਦਾ ਖੇੜਾ l
ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧਿ ਸਗਲ ਤੇ ਉਦਾਸ ॥
sabh kai maDh sagal tay udaas.
detachment from all worldly attachments while living in the midst of all;
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਰਹਿਣਾ;
ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਤਤ ਕਾ ਬੇਤਾ ॥
sundar chatur tat kaa baytaa.
spiritually beautiful, shrewd and knower of the essence of reality,
ਸੋਹਣਾ, ਸਿਆਣਾ, (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਮੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ,
ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ ॥
samadrasee ayk daristaytaa.
able to look impartially upon all, and see only the One (God) in everything.
ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਜਾਣਨਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਣਾ;
ਇਹ ਫਲ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਨੇ ॥
ih fal tis jan kai mukh bhanay.
These blessings come to the one,
ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ; ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ;
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਚਨ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਨੇ ॥੬॥
gur nanak naam bachan man sunay. ||6||
O’ Nanak, who lovingly utters God’s name, and attentively listens to and acts upon the Guru’s teachings. ||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਇਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥
ih niDhaan japai man ko-ay.
Whoever meditates on this treasure of Naam from the core of the heart,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਦਿਲੋ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੇ।
ਸਭ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
sabh jug meh taa kee gat ho-ay.
lives the entire life in an elevated spiritual state.
ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
gun gobind naam Dhun banee.
Such a person’s ordinary words are like singing God’s praises.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ (ਸਾਧਾਰਨ) ਬਚਨ ਭੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਬਖਾਣੀ ॥
simrit saastar bayd bakhaanee.
This has also been declared by the Smritis, the Shastras and the Vedas.
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਆਖੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਮਤਾਂਤ ਕੇਵਲ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥
sagal mataaNt kayval har naam.
The essence of all religions is to meditate on the Name of God,
ਸਾਰੇ ਮਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਚੋੜ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
gobind bhagat kai man bisraam.
and this Naam resides in the heart of the God’s devotee.
ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪ੍ਰਾਧ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੈ ॥
kot apraaDh saaDhsang mitai.
Millions of sins of such a devotee who recites Naam with love are erased in the Company of the Holy.
(ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੈ ॥
sant kirpaa tay jam tay chhutai.
By the Grace of the Guru, such a devotee escapes the Messenger of Death.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
jaa kai mastak karam parabh paa-ay.
Those, who have such preordained destiny,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਧਰੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਆਏ ॥੭॥
saaDh saran naanak tay aa-ay. ||7||
O’ Nanak, they alone seek refuge of the Guru.||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਣ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁਨੈ ਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
jis man basai sunai laa-ay pareet.
One, in whose heart resides Naam and who listens to Naam with love,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ) ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ) ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
tis jan aavai har parabh cheet.
such devotee consciously remembers God.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚੇਤੇ ਆਉਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥
janam maran taa kaa dookh nivaarai.
Pains of birth and death of such a person are removed,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥
dulabh dayh tatkaal uDhaarai.
The human body which is so difficult to obtain, he instantly saves it from vices.
ਉਹ ਇਸ ਦੁਰਲੱਭ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
nirmal sobhaa amrit taa kee baanee.
Spotlessly pure is his reputation, and ambrosial are the words he speaks,
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੇ-ਦਾਗ਼ ਸੋਭਾ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ (ਨਾਮ-) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥
ayk naam man maahi samaanee.
because his mind is completely imbued with Naam.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ॥
dookh rog binsay bhai bharam.
Sorrow, sickness, fear and doubt depart from him.
ਦੁੱਖ, ਰੋਗ, ਡਰ ਤੇ ਵਹਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਧ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ॥
saaDh naam nirmal taa kay karam.
He is known as a saint and his actions are immaculate.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਤ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਮਲ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਨੀ ॥
sabh tay ooch taa kee sobhaa banee.
His glory becomes the highest of the high.
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਗੁਣਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ॥੮॥੨੪॥
naanak ih gun naam sukhmanee. ||8||24||
O’ Nanak, because of such virtues God’s Name is the crown jewel of all pleasures and peace. ll8ll24ll

One Eternal God. Realized by the grace of the true Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
jal thal mahee-al poori-aa su-aamee sirjanhaar.
The Creator and Master is pervading the water, the land, and the sky.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ,
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
anik bhaaNt ho-ay pasri-aa naanak aikankaar. ||1||
O’ Nanak, the One (God) has manifested Himself in the world in so many ways.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇੱਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਖਿਲਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥

ਏਕਮ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਉ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

First Lunar Day, meditating on the One Creator, I bow before Him.
ਪਹਿਲੀ ਤਿੱਥ- ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਅੱਗੇਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
gun gobind gupaal parabh saran para-o har raa-ay.
I sing praises of God, the Master of the universe, and seek the refuge of the supreme God.
ਮੈਂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ (ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਉਸ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੁਖ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
taa kee aas kali-aan sukh jaa tay sabh kachh ho-ay.
I place my hope of redemption and peace on Him, by whose command everything happens.
ਜਿਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ) ਤੋਂ ਹੀ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
chaar kunt dah dis bharmi-o tis bin avar na ko-ay.
I have wandered through the four corners and ten directions of the world and have found that except Him there is no other savior.
ਮੈਂ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਕੁਟਾਂ ਤੇ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਫਿਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ (ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਰਾਖਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸੁਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
bayd puraan simrit sunay baho biDh kara-o beechaar.
I have listened to the Vedas, Puranas, and Smritis and have reflected on them in so many ways,
ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਹੋਰ ਭੀ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਭੈ ਹਰਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥
patit uDhaaran bhai haran sukh saagar nirankaar.
and I have concluded that it is only the formless God who is the savior of sinners, dispeller of fear of the creatures, and the ocean of peace.
ਤੇ ਇਸੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਤਾ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਦੇਨਹਾਰੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
daataa bhugtaa daynhaar tis bin avar na jaa-ay.
He Himself is the giver and Himself the enjoyer; there is no other place to go to except His refuge.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਭੋਗਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ-ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧॥
jo chaaheh so-ee milai naanak har gun gaa-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, by singing the praises of God, one’s desires are fulfilled. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ, ਜੋ ਬੰਦਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
gobind jas gaa-ee-ai har neet.
We should always sing the praises of the Master of the universe.
ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਲਿ ਭਜੀਐ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mil bhajee-ai saaDhsang mayray meet. ||1|| rahaa-o.
O’ my friend Joining the holy congregation, we should meditate on God with loving devotion. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਭਜਨ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ l

ਕਰਉ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਵਾਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
kara-o bandnaa anik vaar saran para-o har raa-ay.
I seek the refuge of the supreme God, and bow before Him countless times.
ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੨॥
bharam katee-ai naanak saaDhsang dutee-aa bhaa-o mitaa-ay. ||2||
O’ Nanak, in the holy congregation, by eliminating duality, the doubt of the mind is eradicated.||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਮੋਹ-ਪਿਆਰ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥

ਦੁਤੀਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
dutee-aa durmat door kar gur sayvaa kar neet.
Second lunar day: always follow the Guru’s teaching and get rid of your evil intellect.
ਦੂਜੀ ਤਿੱਥ, ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਕੱਢ।
ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੀਤ ॥
raam ratan man tan basai taj kaam kroDh lobh meet.
O’ my friend, shed your lust, anger, and greed only then the precious Name of God shall dwell in your mind and body.
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ। (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਨ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਰਣੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸ ॥
maran mitai jeevan milai binsahi sagal kalays.
You will attain eternal life, overcome death, and all your woes will vanish.
ਤੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਤੇ ਜਿੱਤ ਪਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ, ਅਮਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਆਪੁ ਤਜਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਹੁ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਰਵੇਸ ॥
aap tajahu gobind bhajahu bhaa-o bhagat parvays.
Renounce your self-conceit and meditate upon the Master of the Universe; so that God’s loving devotion may permeate in your heart.
ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ, ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਮਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
