ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਅਨਰਾਉ ॥੧॥
naanak kai man ih anraa-o. ||1||
This is the yearning of Nanak’s mind. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ l
ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਰਨਾ ਜੋਗ ॥
mansaa pooran sarnaa jog.
God is capable of fulfilling our wishes and providing refuge.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਨੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋਈ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
jo kar paa-i-aa so-ee hog.
Whatever God has inscribed in one’s destiny, is what takes place.
ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਹੱਥ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਨ ਭਰਨ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਫੋਰੁ ॥
haran bharan jaa kaa naytar for.
God can create or destroy the universe inthe blink of an eye;
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਅੱਖ ਫਰਕਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਪਾਲਣ ਤੇ ਨਾਸ ਲਈ (ਕਾਫ਼ੀ) ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
tis kaa mantar na jaanai hor.
No one other than Him, knows the mantra.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗੁੱਝਾ ਭੇਤ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਦ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
anad roop mangal sad jaa kai.
is the embodiment of everlasting bliss and joy,
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਸੁਨੀਅਹਿ ਘਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ॥
sarab thok sunee-ah ghar taa kai.
and all gifts are heard to be in His possession.
(ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮੌਜੂਦ) ਸੁਣੀਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਜੁ ਜੋਗ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ॥
raaj meh raaj jog meh jogee.
Among kings, He is the greatest King; among yogis, He is the holiest Yogi.
ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਗੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਯੋਗੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਪ ਮਹਿ ਤਪੀਸਰੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਮਹਿ ਭੋਗੀ ॥
tap meh tapeesar garihsat meh bhogee.
Among ascetics, He is the highest Ascetic; among householders, He is the indulging householder.
ਤਪੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਤਪੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਭਗਤਹ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Dhi-aa-ay Dhi-aa-ay bhagtah sukh paa-i-aa.
By continuous meditation on Him, His devotees have found peace.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
naanak tis purakh kaa kinai ant na paa-i-aa. ||2||
O’ Nanak, no one has found the limits of that Supreme Being. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ l
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਲੀਲਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
jaa kee leelaa kee mit naahi.
There is no limit to His worldly play,
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ (ਜਗਤ ਰੂਪ) ਖੇਡ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਸਗਲ ਦੇਵ ਹਾਰੇ ਅਵਗਾਹਿ ॥
sagal dayv haaray avgaahi.
all the angels have grown weary of searching for Him.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ (ਭੀ) ਥੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ;
ਪਿਤਾ ਕਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਪੂਤੁ ॥
pitaa kaa janam ke jaanai poot.
Just as a son cannot know the secret of the birth of his father, similarly the creation cannot know about the birth of its Creator.
ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਉ ਦੀ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਸਗਲ ਪਰੋਈ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਸੂਤਿ ॥
sagal paro-ee apunai soot.
He has bound the entire creation under His Law like the beads strung in a rosary.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਮਣਕੇ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਸਾਰੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ
ਸੁਮਤਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਦੇਇ ॥
sumat gi-aan Dhi-aan jin day-ay.
The devotees upon whom He bestows good sense, spiritual wisdom and inclination to meditate,
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮਤਿ ਉੱਚੀ ਸਮਝ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸੇਇ ॥
jan daas naam Dhi-aavahi say-ay.
those humble devotees remember Him with love and devotion.
ਉਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇ ਦਾਸ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਤਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਰਮਾਏ ॥
tihu gun meh jaa ka-o bharmaa-ay.
The one whom He leads astray in the three impulses (vice, virtue and power),
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
janam marai fir aavai jaa-ay.
keeps wandering in the cycles of birth and death.
ਉਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਅਸਥਾਨ ॥
ooch neech tis kay asthaan.
God dwells in all these high and low spiritual states of mind.
ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮੱਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਚੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ ਨੀਚ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਹਨ l
ਜੈਸਾ ਜਨਾਵੈ ਤੈਸਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਨ ॥੩॥
jaisaa janaavai taisaa naanak jaan. ||3||
O’ Nanak, Whatever intellect God gives one, heknows Him accordingly. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਬੁੱਧ-ਮੱਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਨਾਨਾ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਨਾ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥
naanaa roop naanaa jaa kay rang.
Many are His forms; many are His colors.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸਰੂਪ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਰੰਗਤਾਂ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਾ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਕ ਰੰਗ ॥
naanaa bhaykh karahi ik rang.
Many are the appearances which He assumes and yet, He is only One of its kind.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵੇਸ ਧਾਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਐਨ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
naanaa biDh keeno bisthaar.
In numerous ways He has expanded this universe,
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
parabh abhinaasee aikankaar.
but still, He is eternal and the only One Creator.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਇਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਾ ਚਲਿਤ ਕਰੇ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
naanaa chalit karay khin maahi.
He performs His many plays in an instant.
ਕਈ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥
poor rahi-o pooran sabh thaa-ay.
the Perfect God is pervading all places.
ਉਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਨਤ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
naanaa biDh kar banat banaa-ee.
In so many ways, He has created the creation,
ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ,
ਅਪਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਈ ॥
apnee keemat aapay paa-ee.
and He alone knows His worth.
ਆਪਣੀ (ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦਾ) ਮੁੱਲ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਘਟ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਠਾਉ ॥
sabh ghat tis kay sabh tis kay thaa-o.
All beings are His, and all places are His and all the creation belongs to Him.
ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਥਾਂ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥
jap jap jeevai naanak har naa-o. ||4||
O’ Nanak, His devotee lives meditating on God’s Name. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੰਤ ॥
naam kay Dhaaray saglay jant.
Naam is the Support of all creatures.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆ ਜੰਤ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ॥
naam kay Dhaaray khand barahmand.
Naam is the Support of the earth and solar systems.
ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਗ (ਹਿੱਸੇ) ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ॥
naam kay Dhaaray simrit bayd puraan.
Naam is the basis of (Hindu scriptures), the Simritis, Vedas and Puranas.
ਵੇਦ, ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸੁਨਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ॥
naam kay Dhaaray sunan gi-aan Dhi-aan.
With the support of Naam we hear about divine knowledge and meditation.
ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜਨੀ ਭੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਆਗਾਸ ਪਾਤਾਲ ॥
naam kay Dhaaray aagaas paataal.
Naam is the Support of the skies and the nether regions.
ਸਾਰੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਪਤਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਆਸਰੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਆਕਾਰ ॥
naam kay Dhaaray sagal aakaar.
Naam is the Support of all bodies (all forms of life).
ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮ ਕੇ ਧਾਰੇ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਸਭ ਭਵਨ ॥
naam kay Dhaaray puree-aa sabh bhavan.
Naam is the Support of all the worlds and realms.
ਤਿੰਨੇ ਭਵਨ ਤੇ ਚੌਦਹ ਲੋਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਮ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥
naam kai sang uDhray sun sarvan.
By meditating and listening Name, many have been saved from vices.
ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕੰਨੀਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਨੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਾਏ ॥
kar kirpaa jis aapnai naam laa-ay.
Bestowing His grace, whom God bless with Naam,
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਚਉਥੇ ਪਦ ਮਹਿ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੫॥
naanak cha-uthay pad meh so jan gat paa-ay. ||5||
O’ Nanak, in the fourth stage of divine bliss, that humble devotee reaches the higher spiritual state. ||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਲੇ) ਚਉਥੇ ਦਰਜੇ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਰੂਪੁ ਸਤਿ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸਤਿ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ॥
roop sat jaa kaa sat asthaan.
God, whose form is eternal and whose seat of power is eternal,
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ,
ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਤਿ ਕੇਵਲ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
purakh sat kayval parDhaan.
only that all-pervading Eternal Being is supreme.
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
kartoot sat sat jaa kee banee.
He whose deeds are eternal and whose word is true,
ਜਿਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ,
ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
sat purakh sabh maahi samaanee.
that eternal God is pervading in all.
ਸੱਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਸਤਿ ॥
sat karam jaa kee rachnaa sat.
His creation is true and true are His actions.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਮਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ।
ਮੂਲੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਉਤਪਤਿ ॥
mool sat sat utpat.
His origin is true, and true is what originates from it.
ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਰਮਲੀ ॥
sat karnee nirmal nirmalee.
True is His Will, the purest of the pure.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਹਾ ਪਵ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਭ ਭਲੀ ॥
jisahi bujhaa-ay tiseh sabh bhalee.
All goes well for him whom He enables to understand His Will
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ (ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਉਹ ਰਜ਼ਾ) ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ (ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
sat naam parabh kaa sukh-daa-ee.
The True Name of God is the Giver of peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖ-ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥੬॥
bisvaas sat naanak gur tay paa-ee. ||6||
O’ Nanak, this faith is received only from the Guru.||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਸਿਦਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥
sat bachan saaDhoo updays.
The teachings of the Guru are true for ever.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਅਟੱਲ ਬਚਨ ਹਨ,
ਸਤਿ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ ॥
sat tay jan jaa kai ridai parvays.
Those in whose heart these teachings permeate also become true and are liberated from the cycles of birth and death.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਅਟੱਲ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਤਿ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੇ ਕੋਇ ॥
sat nirat boojhai jay ko-ay.
If one comes to realize the depth of the eternal God’s love,
ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਆ ਜਾਏ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
naam japat taa kee gat ho-ay.
that person meditates on Naam and achieves an elevated spiritual state.
ਤਾਂ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਸਤਿ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਸਤਿ ॥
aap sat kee-aa sabh sat.
God, Himself is eternal, and all that He has created is also eternal.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਗਤ ਭੀ ਸੱਚ ਮੁੱਚ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਮਿਥਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ)
ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਗਤਿ ॥
aapay jaanai apnee mit gat.
He Himself knows His own worth and limit.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੇ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਆਪ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
