ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
purab likhay kaa likhi-aa paa-ee-ai.
You receive whatever is preordained, based upon your previous deeds.
ਪਿਛਲੇ ਬੀਜੇ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਹੀ ਖਾਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੂਖ ਸੂਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰੁ ॥
dookh sookh parabh dayvanhaar.
God is the Giver of pain and pleasure.
ਦੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੈ l
ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਤੂ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਚਿਤਾਰੁ ॥
avar ti-aag too tiseh chitaar.
Therefore, relinquish the support of others and lovingly remember Him alone.
(ਤਾਂ ਤੇ) ਹੋਰ (ਆਸਰੇ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ।
ਜੋ ਕਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
jo kachh karai so-ee sukh maan.
Take comfort in whatever He does.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਸਮਝ।
ਭੂਲਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
bhoolaa kaahay fireh ajaan.
O’ ignorant one, why are you wandering around?
ਹੇ ਅੰਞਾਣ! ਕਿਉ ਭੁੱਲਿਆਂ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਕਉਨ ਬਸਤੁ ਆਈ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗ ॥
ka-un basat aa-ee tayrai sang.
What things did you bring with you?
ਕੇਹੜੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਈ ਸੀ।
ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਰਸਿ ਲੋਭੀ ਪਤੰਗ ॥
lapat rahi-o ras lobhee patang.
O greedy moth, you are getting engrossed in worldly pleasures.
ਹੇ ਲੋਭੀ ਭੰਬਟ! ਤੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
raam naam jap hirday maahi.
Meditate on God’s Name in your heart.
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
naanak pat saytee ghar jaahi. ||4||
O Nanak, thus you shall return to divine home with honor. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਾਲੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਵਹਿਂਗਾ l
ਜਿਸੁ ਵਖਰ ਕਉ ਲੈਨਿ ਤੂ ਆਇਆ ॥
jis vakhar ka-o lain too aa-i-aa.
The wealth of Naam, for which you have come to this world,
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੂੰ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
raam naam santan ghar paa-i-aa.
that wealth of God’s Name is received in the holy congregation.
ਉਹ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ (-ਰੂਪੀ ਸੌਦਾ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੋਲਿ ॥
taj abhimaan layho man mol.
Renounce egotistical pride from your mind and in exchange buy the wealth of God’s Name.
ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ (ਇਹ ਵੱਖਰ) ਖ਼ਰੀਦ ਲੈ l
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਤੋਲਿ ॥
raam naam hirday meh tol.
Enshrine God’s Name in your heart.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਖ।
ਲਾਦਿ ਖੇਪ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲੁ ॥
laad khayp santeh sang chaal.
Load up this wealth of Naam by Lovingly meditate on God’s Name in the holy congregation,
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਤੁਰ ਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸੌਦਾ ਲੱਦ ਲੈ,
ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
avar ti-aag bikhi-aa janjaal.
and discard all other worldly entanglements.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਧੰਧੇ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ।
ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
Dhan Dhan kahai sabh ko-ay.
If you do this, everyone will praise you,
(ਜੇ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਹਿਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ) ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ੇ ਆਖੇਗਾ
ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੋਇ ॥
mukh oojal har dargeh so-ay.
and you shall be received with honor in God’s court.
ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਜਲਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
ਇਹੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੈ ॥
ih vaapaar virlaa vaapaarai.
But only a rare person engages in meditation on God’s Name.
(ਪਰ) ਇਹ ਵਪਾਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੫॥
naanak taa kai sad balihaarai. ||5||
O’ Nanak, I am forever dedicated to such a person. ||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਜੇਹੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਈਏ l
ਚਰਨ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਉ ॥
charan saaDh kay Dho-ay Dho-ay pee-o.
Follow the words of the Saintswith utmost humility and obedience.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋ ਧੋ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ) ਪੀ,
ਅਰਪਿ ਸਾਧ ਕਉ ਅਪਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
arap saaDh ka-o apnaa jee-o.
Surrender your soul to the Guru.
ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਸੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਦੇ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
saaDh kee Dhoor karahu isnaan.
Take cleansing bath by sincerely accepting the the Guru’s teachings.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ,
ਸਾਧ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
saaDh oopar jaa-ee-ai kurbaan.
Dedicate your life to the Guru.
ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਉਤੋਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਨੇ ਹੋ ਜਾ।
ਸਾਧ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
saaDh sayvaa vadbhaagee paa-ee-ai.
The Guru’s teaching is received by great fortune
ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
saaDhsang har keertan gaa-ee-ai.
God’s praises can be sung only in the holy congregation.
ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਘਨ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
anik bighan tay saaDhoo raakhai.
The Saint saves us from all sorts of dangers in our spiritual journey.
ਸੰਤ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਔਕੜਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖੈ ॥
har gun gaa-ay amrit ras chaakhai.
He who sings the praises of God tastes the nectar of Naam.
ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆਂ ਅਲਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਸੰਤਹ ਦਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
ot gahee santeh dar aa-i-aa.
The one who has sought the support of the Saints and has come to their refuge,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
sarab sookh naanak tih paa-i-aa. ||6||
O’ Nanak, he has received all the comforts and peace. ||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ l
ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਜੀਵਾਲਨਹਾਰ ॥
mirtak ka-o jeevaalanhaar.
God is able to infuse life back into the spiritually dead.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਵਾਲਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ,
ਭੂਖੇ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਤ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
bhookhay ka-o dayvat aDhaar.
He provides sustenance to the hungry.
ਭੁੱਖੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sarab niDhaan jaa kee daristee maahi.
All treasures are within His Glance of Grace,
ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ,
ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਣਾ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
purab likhay kaa lahnaa paahi.
but people receive what ispreordained in their destiny.
(ਪਰ ਜੀਵ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਭੋਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਓਹੁ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
sabh kichh tis kaa oh karnai jog.
Everything belongs to Him and He can do everything
ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ;
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਆ ਨ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
tis bin doosar ho-aa na hog.
Other than Him, there has never been any other, and there shall never be.
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
ਜਪਿ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣੀ ॥
jap jan sadaa sadaa din rainee.
O’ devotee, Meditate on Him forever and ever, day and night.
ਹੇ ਜਨ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ,
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਇਹ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
sabh tay ooch nirmal ih karnee.
This is the most exalted and immaculate deed.
ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਣੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਇਹੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਚੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਆ ॥
kar kirpaa jis ka-o naam dee-aa.
By His Grace, whom God blesses His Name,
ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੭॥
naanak so jan nirmal thee-aa. ||7||
O’ Nanak, that person becomes immaculate and pure. ||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
jaa kai man gur kee parteet.
One whose mind is full of firm faith in the Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
tis jan aavai har parabh cheet.
God forever dwells in his conscience.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਸੁਨੀਐ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥
bhagat bhagat sunee-ai tihu lo-ay.
He is acclaimed as a devotee, a humble devotee throughout the worlds,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਭਗਤ ਭਗਤ ਸੁਣੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਏਕੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
jaa kai hirdai ayko ho-ay.
in whose heart dwells the One (God) alone.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈl
ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਰਹਤ ॥
sach karnee sach taa kee rahat.
True are his actions; and true is his way of life.
ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਮਲੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਾਰਗ।
ਸਚੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਤਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਹਤ ॥
sach hirdai sat mukh kahat.
God is in his heart and Truth (God’s Name) is what he utters.
ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉੱਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਸਾਚੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
saachee darisat saachaa aakaar.
The vision of this devotee is imbued with the love for God, therefore he sees God permeating in the entire w
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, (ਤਾਹੀਏਂ) ਸਾਰਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਮਾਨ ਜਗਤ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥
sach vartai saachaa paasaar.
He knows that God pervade everywhere and all this expanse belongs to God.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
paarbarahm jin sach kar jaataa.
The one who recognizes the Supreme God as Eternal,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਤਾ ॥੮॥੧੫॥
naanak so jan sach samaataa. ||8||15||
O’ Nanak, that humble being gets absorbed into the True One. ||8||15||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ

ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਿੰਨ ॥
roop na raykh na rang kichh tarihu gun tay parabh bhinn.
God has no form, no shape, no color; He is free from the three characteristics of Maya (power, vice and virtue).
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਨ ਚਿਹਨ-ਚੱਕ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਰੰਗ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੇ-ਦਾਗ਼ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥੧॥
tiseh bujhaa-ay naankaa jis hovai suparsan. ||1||
O’ Nanak, He enables that one to realize Him, with whom He is pleased. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪ ਤ੍ਰੁੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥

Ashtapadee:
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥
abhinaasee parabh man meh raakh.
Keep the Immortal God enshrined within your mind,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖ,
ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੁ ॥
maanukh kee too pareet ti-aag.
and renounce your love and attachment for any mortal.
ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਮੋਹ) ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ।
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਪਰੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
tis tay parai naahee kichh ko-ay.
Beyond Him, there is nothing at all.
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ l
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
sarab nirantar ayko so-ay.
The One God is pervading among all.
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਬੀਨਾ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਨਾ ॥
aapay beenaa aapay daanaa.
He Himself sees all, and knows all.
ਉਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ) ਪਛਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਗਹੀਰੁ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥
gahir gambheer gaheer sujaanaa.
He is unfathomable, profound, deep and sagacious.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬੜਾ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਹੈ, ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ l
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
paarbarahm parmaysur gobind.
O’ transcendent God, the supreme being, and Master of the universe,
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਭ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਕ!
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਬਖਸੰਦ ॥
kirpaa niDhaan da-i-aal bakhsand.
the treasure of mercy, compassion and forgiveness,
ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ! ਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ!
ਸਾਧ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਚਰਨੀ ਪਾਉ ॥
saaDh tayray kee charnee paa-o.
Please let me be the humble servant of Your saints.
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਧਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪਵਾਂ l
