ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਫਲ ਜਨੰਮ ॥੫॥
naanak saaDh kai sang safal jannam. ||5||
O’ Nanak, one’s life becomes fruitful in the company of the saints. ||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਘਾਲ ॥
saaDh kai sang nahee kachh ghaal.
In the holy congregation, there is no struggle such as penances,
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਤਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਤਪਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ,
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
darsan bhaytat hot nihaal.
because a blessed vision of the Saints, brings a sublime happiness.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਲੂਖਤ ਹਰੈ ॥
saaDh kai sang kalookhat harai.
In the company of Saints, one is absolved of his sins.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਲੰਕ ਧੋਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਰਕ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥
saaDh kai sang narak parharai.
In the company of Saints one is saved from hell.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦੋਜ਼ਖ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
saaDh kai sang eehaa oohaa suhaylaa.
In the Company of the Holy, one is happy here and hereafter.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
saaDhsang bichhurat har maylaa.
In the Company of the Holy, the separated ones are reunited with God.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋ ਇਛੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
jo ichhai so-ee fal paavai.
One’s all desires are fulfilled,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜੋ ਇੱਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਹੀ ਫਲ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
saaDh kai sang na birthaa jaavai.
because in the Company of the Holy, no one goes empty-handed.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਬੇ-ਮੁਰਾਦ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਾਧ ਰਿਦ ਬਸੈ ॥
paarbarahm saaDh rid basai.
The Supreme God dwells in the hearts of the Saints.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਾਧ ਸੁਨਿ ਰਸੈ ॥੬॥
naanak uDhrai saaDh sun rasai. ||6||
O’ Nanak, listening to the sweet words of the Holy, one is saved from vices.||6||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
saaDh kai sang sun-o har naa-o.
In the Company of the Holy, I listen to the Name of God.
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਾਂ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥
saaDhsang har kay gun gaa-o.
In the Company of the Holy, I sing the Glorious Praises of God.
ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ (ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਹੈ)।
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰੈ ॥
saaDh kai sang na man tay bisrai.
In the company of Saints, God is never out of one’s mind.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ॥
saaDhsang sarpar nistarai.
In the Company of the Holy, one is surely saved from vices.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਗੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
saaDh kai sang lagai parabh meethaa.
In the company of the Saints, love thrives for God,
ਭਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥
saaDhoo kai sang ghat ghat deethaa.
and in the Company of the Holy, He is seen in each and everybody.
ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਏ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ॥
saaDhsang bha-ay aagi-aakaaree.
In the Company of the Holy, we become obedient to the will of God.
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਅਸੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
saaDhsang gat bha-ee hamaaree.
In the company of Saints, we attain a higher state of spirituality.
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਸੁਧਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ॥
saaDh kai sang mitay sabh rog.
In the Company of the Holy, all maladies (vices) are cured.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਹਬਤ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕ) ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ;
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਭੇਟੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੭॥
naanak saaDh bhaytay sanjog. ||7||
O Nanak, one meets with the Holy by great fortune. ||7||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਵੱਡੇ) ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬੇਦ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥
saaDh kee mahimaa bayd na jaaneh.
The glory of the Saint is not known even to the composers of the Vedas.
ਸਾਧ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਦ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ,
ਜੇਤਾ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਤੇਤਾ ਬਖਿਆਨਹਿ ॥
jaytaa suneh taytaa bakhi-aaneh.
Those scriptures describe only what their composers have heard.
ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
saaDh kee upmaa tihu gun tay door.
The greatness of the Holy people is beyond the three modes of Maya.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਰਹੀ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
saaDh kee upmaa rahee bharpoor.
The glory of the Holy people is known throughout.
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅੰਤ ॥
saaDh kee sobhaa kaa naahee ant.
The glory of the Holy cannot be estimated.
ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥
saaDh kee sobhaa sadaa bay-ant.
The splendor of saint is beyond limits.
ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਬੇ-ਇਨਤਹਾ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚੀ ॥
saaDh kee sobhaa ooch tay oochee.
The glory of the Holy is the highest of the high.
ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮੂਚ ਤੇ ਮੂਚੀ ॥
saaDh kee sobhaa mooch tay moochee.
The glory of the Holy is the greatest of the great.
ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਵਡਿਆ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਧ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥
saaDh kee sobhaa saaDh ban aa-ee.
The glory of the saints behoove to the saints alone
ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਧੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਫਬਦੀ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੮॥੭॥
naanak saaDh parabh bhayd na bhaa-ee. ||8||7||
O,Nanak, listen my brother, there is no difference between the Saint and God,
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਫਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ।

ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
man saachaa mukh saachaa so-ay.
The person in whose heart dwells God and who always sings His praises,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਪੇਖੈ ਏਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
avar na paykhai aykas bin ko-ay.
and who beholds none other but God.
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਇਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ L
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਲਛਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak ih lachhan barahm gi-aanee ho-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, having such qualities makes him a Braham Giani-knower of God . ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥

Ashtapadee:
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ॥
barahm gi-aanee sadaa nirlayp.
The God-conscious being always remains detached from evils,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਦਾ-ਬੇਦਾਗ਼ ਰਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਲ ਅਲੇਪ ॥
jaisay jal meh kamal alayp.
as the lotus growing in the murky water is not soiled by the dirt in the water.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਕਉਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਰਹਿਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਦੋਖ ॥
barahm gi-aanee sadaa nirdokh.
The God-conscious person helps others drive out their sins while remaining unaffected himself,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) (ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜੈਸੇ ਸੂਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਕਉ ਸੋਖ ॥
jaisay soor sarab ka-o sokh.
like the sun which dries up all filth by its heat.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ (ਰਸਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸੁਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥
barahm gi-aanee kai darisat samaan.
The person with divine knowledge looks upon all alike,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਸਭ ਵਲ) ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ (ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਣ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਹੈ,
ਜੈਸੇ ਰਾਜ ਰੰਕ ਕਉ ਲਾਗੈ ਤੁਲਿ ਪਵਾਨ ॥
jaisay raaj rank ka-o laagai tul pavaan.
like the wind, which blows equally upon the king and the poor.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਵਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਤੇ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਏਕ ॥
barahm gi-aanee kai Dheeraj ayk.
The God-conscious person has a steady patience, (the kind of patience not affected by a change in circumstances),
ਕੋਈ ਭਲਾ ਕਹੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬੁਰਾ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਦੀ ਸਹਿਨੀਲਤਾ ਇਕਸਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਉ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਕੋਊ ਖੋਦੈ ਕੋਊ ਚੰਦਨ ਲੇਪ ॥
ji-o basuDhaa ko-oo khodai ko-oo chandan layp.
like the earth, which is dug up by one, and anointed with sandal paste by another.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਖੋਤਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਦਨ ਦੇ ਲੇਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ)।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਗੁਨਾਉ ॥
barahm gi-aanee kaa ihai gunaa-o.
The quality of a person with divine knowledge is,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ (ਭੀ) ਇਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਵਕ ਕਾ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਉ ॥੧॥
naanak ji-o paavak kaa sahj subhaa-o. ||1||
O Nanak, like burning the filth in everything is one of the inherent nature of fire. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਣੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਹੈ l
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ॥
barahm gi-aanee nirmal tay nirmalaa.
The God-conscious being is the purest of the pure; (untouched by the vices);
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਮਹਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੈ,
ਜੈਸੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਲਾ ॥
jaisay mail na laagai jalaa.
like water to which filth does not stick
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਮੈਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ (ਬੁਖ਼ਾਰਾਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਸਾਫ਼ ਦਾ ਸਾਫ਼।)
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
barahm gi-aanee kai man ho-ay pargaas.
The mind of a God-conscious person is enlightened that God is all pervading.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਇਹ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ)
ਜੈਸੇ ਧਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥
jaisay Dhar oopar aakaas.
like the sky all over the earth.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ (ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।)
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥
barahm gi-aanee kai mitar satar samaan.
To the person with divine knowledge, friend and foe are alike,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਜਣ ਤੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ॥
barahm gi-aanee kai naahee abhimaan.
Because the person with divine knowledge has no egotistical pride.
(ਕਿਉਂਕ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਸਲੂਕ ਦਾ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ)।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥
barahm gi-aanee ooch tay oochaa.
Spiritually, the God-conscious person is the highest of the high.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ (ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨੀਚਾ ॥
man apnai hai sabh tay neechaa.
but within his own mind, he is the most humble of all.
(ਪਰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਨੀਵਾਂ (ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਭਏ ॥
barahm gi-aanee say jan bha-ay.
Only those become God-conscious,
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੨॥
naanak jin parabh aap karay-i. ||2||
O’Nanak, whom God Himself makes so. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਰੀਨਾ ॥
barahm gi-aanee sagal kee reenaa.
The God-conscious person lives like the dust of all (extreme humbleness).
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਾਰੇ (ਬੰਦਿਆਂ) ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਕ (ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ;
ਆਤਮ ਰਸੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਚੀਨਾ ॥
aatam ras barahm gi-aanee cheenaa.
The God-conscious person realizes spiritual bliss.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥
barahm gi-aanee kee sabh oopar ma-i-aa.
The divinely wise person shows kindness to all.
ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਤਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਬੁਰਾ ਨ ਭਇਆ ॥
barahm gi-aanee tay kachh buraa na bha-i-aa.
No evil comes from the God-conscious person.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੋਈ ਮੰਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ॥
barahm gi-aanee sadaa samadrasee.
The God-conscious person is always impartial.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਭ ਵਲ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
