ਓਰੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂ ਕੀਆ ॥
orai kachhoo na kinhoo kee-aa.
In this world, no one accomplishes anything by himself.
ਏਥੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਉਰੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਹੂਆ ॥੫੧॥
naanak sabh kachh parabh tay hoo-aa. ||51||
O Nanak, whatever has happened is according to God’s will. ||51||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ-ਆਕਾਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੫੧॥

ਲੇਖੈ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਭੂਲਨਹਾਰ ॥
laykhai kateh na chhootee-ai khin khin bhoolanhaar.
O’ God, if You judge us by the account of our deeds, then we can never be saved; we make mistakes at every instant.
ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਖਿਨ ਖਿਨ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਭਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਬਖਸਨਹਾਰ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰ ॥੧॥
bakhsanhaar bakhas lai naanak paar utaar. ||1||
O’ the Forgiving God, forgive us for our mistakes and ferry us across the world-ocean of vices, says Nanak ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, ਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ॥੧॥

ਲੂਣ ਹਰਾਮੀ ਗੁਨਹਗਾਰ ਬੇਗਾਨਾ ਅਲਪ ਮਤਿ ॥
loon haraamee gunahgaar baygaanaa alap mat.
Human being is an ungrateful sinner with shallow understanding and considers himself as separate from God.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾ-ਸ਼ੁਕਰਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਨਹਗਾਰ ਹੈ, ਹੋਛੀ ਮਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਓਪਰਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਏ ਤਾਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਤਤ ॥
jee-o pind jin sukh dee-ay taahi na jaanat tat.
He does not know the Almighty who bestowed soul, body and comforts.
ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਅਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਲਾਹਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਨੇ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਢੂਢਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
laahaa maa-i-aa kaarnay dah dis dhoodhan jaa-ay.
For the sake of worldly gain, he wanders in all the ten directions.
ਮਾਇਆ ਖੱਟਣ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਮਨਹਿ ਬਸਾਇ ॥
dayvanhaar daataar parabh nimakh na maneh basaa-ay.
He does not enshrine God, the only benefactor, in his heart even for an instant.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਫੋਰ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ।
ਲਾਲਚ ਝੂਠ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਇਆ ਸੰਪੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
laalach jhooth bikaar moh i-aa sampai man maahi.
He has amassed greed, falsehood, sin and worldly attachment in the mind.
ਲਾਲਚ, ਝੂਠ, ਵਿਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ-ਬੱਸ! ਇਹੀ ਧਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਭੀ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ।
ਲੰਪਟ ਚੋਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਹਾ ਤਿਨਹੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਹਾਇ ॥
lampat chor nindak mahaa tinhoo sang bihaa-ay.
He wastes away this life only in the company of perverts, thieves and slanderers.
ਜੋ ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਹਨ, ਚੋਰ ਹਨ, ਮਹਾ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਥ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਰੇ ॥
tuDh bhaavai taa bakhas laihi khotay sang kharay.
O’ God, if it so pleases You, You can still forgive the false ones like us by keeping us in the company of the virtuous people.
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਖੋਟਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਾਹਨ ਨੀਰਿ ਤਰੇ ॥੫੨॥
naanak bhaavai paarbarahm paahan neer taray. ||52||
O Nanak, if such be God’s will then He can save the stone hearted people from drowning in the world ocean of vices. ||52||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪੱਥਰ-ਦਿਲ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬਣੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੨॥

ਖਾਤ ਪੀਤ ਖੇਲਤ ਹਸਤ ਭਰਮੇ ਜਨਮ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
khaat peet khaylat hasat bharmay janam anayk.
Engrossed in worldly pleasures, we have been wandering through many lives.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਪੀਂਦੇ, ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹੱਸਦੇ ਖੇਡਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ,
ਭਵਜਲ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥੧॥
bhavjal tay kaadhahu parabhoo naanak tayree tayk. ||1||
Nanak prays, O’ God, we have now sought Your support; please pull us out of this dreadful worldly ocean of vices. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਖੇਲਤ ਖੇਲਤ ਆਇਓ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥
khaylat khaylat aa-i-o anik jon dukh paa-ay.
Engrossed in worldly pleasures, enduring pains and sorrow while passing through many births, one comes to this world.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਕ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਪਰਚਾਂਦਾ ਪਰਚਾਂਦਾ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖੇਦ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲਤ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
khayd mitay saaDhoo milat satgur bachan samaa-ay.
All sufferings end upon meeting and following the teachings of the true Guru.
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤਕਲੀਫਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਖਿਮਾ ਗਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੰਚਿਓ ਖਾਇਓ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮ ॥
khimaa gahee sach sanchi-o khaa-i-o amrit naam.
One who has become compassionate, amassed the wealth of truth and has made the ambrosial Naam as his spiritual food,
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ-ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਖਿਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਬਣਾਇਆ,
ਖਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਈ ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
kharee kirpaa thaakur bha-ee anad sookh bisraam.
Upon him God bestows great mercy and he attains bliss and comforts.
ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖੇਪ ਨਿਬਾਹੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਲਾਭ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਪਤਿਵੰਤ ॥
khayp nibaahee bahut laabh ghar aa-ay pativant.
One who earns the wealth of Naam through devotional worship, honorably achieves the purpose of human life.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ-ਵਪਾਰ ਤੋੜ ਨਿਬਾਹਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟਿਆ, ਉਹ ਅਡੋਲ-ਮਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਦਰ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਰਾ ਦਿਲਾਸਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥
kharaa dilaasaa gur dee-aa aa-ay milay bhagvant.
Because the Guru gave him true support and he realized God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਚੰਗੀ ਦਿਲੀ ਢਾਰਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ।
ਆਪਨ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਆਗੈ ਪਾਛੈ ਆਪਿ ॥
aapan kee-aa karahi aap aagai paachhai aap.
O’ God, this all is Your doing and You do it by Yourself; You alone support the beings both here and hereafter.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਖੇਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਊ ਸਰਾਹੀਐ ਜਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥੫੩॥
naanak so-oo saraahee-ai je ghat ghat rahi-aa bi-aap. ||53||
O’ Nanak, we should praise God alone who is pervading each heart. ||53||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫੩॥

aa-ay parabh sarnaagatee kirpaa niDh da-i-aal.
O’ God, the treasure of mercy, we have come to Your refuge.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਹੇ ਦਿਆਲ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ।
ਏਕ ਅਖਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਬਸਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥
ayk akhar har man basat naanak hot nihaal. ||1||
O’ Nanak, those in whose heart is enshrined the eternal God, become totally blissful. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਅਵਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

It is by His divine word that God created the universe.
ਇਹ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਭਵਨ (ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਚੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਖਰ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
akhar kar kar bayd beechaaray.
It is after coining the words that the Vedas were uttered and deliberated upon.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਵੇਦ ਰਚੇ ਗਏ, ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਗਏ।
ਅਖਰ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ॥
akhar saastar simrit puraanaa.
The Shastras, Smritis and Puranas have been described through words
ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵ ਹਨ।
ਅਖਰ ਨਾਦ ਕਥਨ ਵਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਨਾ ॥
akhar naad kathan vakh-yaanaa.
In words are written all the hymns, discourses and lectures
ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਥਾ ਤੇ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਭੀ ਸ਼ਬਦਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਅਖਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
akhar mukat jugat bhai bharmaa.
Through words is described the way to salvation from fear and doubt.
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਂ ਭਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਲੱਭਣੀ ਪਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹਰਫਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਖਰ ਕਰਮ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਸੁਚ ਧਰਮਾ ॥
akhar karam kirat such Dharmaa.
It is through words that all religious rites, worldly acts, piety and religions are described.
ਲਫਜ਼ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਨਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਮਾਨ ਅਖਰ ਹੈ ਜੇਤਾ ॥
daristimaan akhar hai jaytaa.
All that is visible is described in words.
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਭੀ ਇਹ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਭੀ ਸ਼ਬਦਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਿਰਲੇਪਾ ॥੫੪॥
naanak paarbarahm nirlaypaa. ||54||
But O’ Nanak, the all-pervading God Himself is beyond word. ||54||
ਪਰ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੇ ਪਸਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਸ਼ਬਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ॥੫੪॥

ਹਥਿ ਕਲੰਮ ਅਗੰਮ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਾਵਤੀ ॥
hath kalamm agamm mastak likhaavatee.
The incomprehensible God has been inscribing the destiny of people according to their past deeds.
ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹਰੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਰੂਪ ਕਲਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੀ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਨੂਪ ਰੂਪਾਵਤੀ ॥
urajh rahi-o sabh sang anoop roopaavatee.
God of unparalleled beauty is intertwined with all.
ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਤਾਣੇ ਪੇਟੇ ਵਾਂਗ) ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਤੁਹਾਰੀਆ ॥
ustat kahan na jaa-ay mukhahu tuhaaree-aa.
O’ God, I cannot describe Your glory,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਥੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ,
ਮੋਹੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਆ ॥੧॥
mohee daykh daras naanak balihaaree-aa. ||1||
because I am so fascinated seeing Your sight; I dedicate myself to You, says Nanak. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਦਕੇ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਹੇ ਅਚੁਤ ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਘਨਾਸ ॥
hay achut hay paarbarahm abhinaasee aghnaas.
O’ the destroyer of sins, eternal, supreme and transcendent God,
ਹੇ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਡੋਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ! ਹੇ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ!
ਹੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੇ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥
hay pooran hay sarab mai dukh bhanjan guntaas.
O’ the Perfect, all-pervading, destroyer of sorrows and the treasure of virtues:
ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ!
ਹੇ ਸੰਗੀ ਹੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਹੇ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਸਭ ਟੇਕ ॥
hay sangee hay nirankaar hay nirgun sabh tayk.
O’ the companion of all, formless, detached from Maya and the support of all:
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ! (ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਆਕਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ!
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਹੇ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਦਾ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
hay gobid hay gun niDhaan jaa kai sadaa bibayk.
O’ Master of the universe, treasure of virtues with clear sense of discriminating between good and bad:
ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਖ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਹੈ!
ਹੇ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਹਿ ਭੀ ਹੋਵਨਹਾਰ ॥
hay aprampar har haray heh bhee hovanhaar.
O’ the infinite God, You are present now and will be there forever.
ਹੇ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹੇ ਸੰਤਹ ਕੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਧਾਰਾ ਆਧਾਰ ॥
hay santeh kai sadaa sang niDhaaraa aaDhaar.
O’ the eternal companion of the saints and the support of the supportless:
ਹੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ! ਹੇ ਨਿਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ!
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਉ ਦਾਸਰੋ ਮੈ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਗੁਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
hay thaakur ha-o daasro mai nirgun gun nahee ko-ay.
O’ God, I am Your humble devotee and have no virtues at all.
ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਕ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿੱਕਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
