ਸਹਜੇ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਤਨ ਕੀ ਨਾਸੀ ॥
sehjay dubiDhaa tan kee naasee.
The duality of his mind has intuitively been eliminated
ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥
jaa kai sahj man bha-i-aa anand.
The one in whose mind a state of bliss arises intuitively.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੁ ॥੫॥
taa ka-o bhayti-aa parmaanand. ||5||
He meets God, the source of supreme bliss.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ l
ਸਹਜੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਓ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
sehjay amrit pee-o naam.
Intuitively, he relishes the Ambrosial Nectar of God’s Name.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਹਜੇ ਕੀਨੋ ਜੀਅ ਕੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
sehjay keeno jee-a ko daan.
Intuitively, he gives the gift of Naam to others as well.
ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਸਹਜ ਕਥਾ ਮਹਿ ਆਤਮੁ ਰਸਿਆ ॥
sahj kathaa meh aatam rasi-aa.
His soul remains immersed in the poise-giving God’s praises.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਰਚੀ-ਮਿਚੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਵਸਿਆ ॥੬॥
taa kai sang abhinaasee vasi-aa. ||6||
The eternal God dwells with him.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਹਜੇ ਆਸਣੁ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
sehjay aasan asthir bhaa-i-aa.
Intuitively his mind becomes stable and he likes this stability.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਟਿਕਵਾਂ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਹਜੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਜਾਇਆ ॥
sehjay anhat sabad vajaa-i-aa.
In peace and poise, continuous melody of Guru’s word vibrates within him.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ;
ਸਹਜੇ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥
sehjay run jhunkaar suhaa-i-aa.
Within him imperceptibly rings the non-stop melody of the divine word.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਰੌ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
taa kai ghar paarbarahm samaa-i-aa. ||7||
God always remains pervading in his mind.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਗਟ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਪਰਿਓ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
sehjay jaa ka-o pari-o karmaa.
The person on whom God is merciful, he attains the state of spiritual stability.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਸਹਜੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸਚੁ ਧਰਮਾ ॥
sehjay gur bhayti-o sach Dharmaa.
Intuitively he meets with the Guru and makes meditation on Naam as his faith.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਰਮ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
jaa kai sahj bha-i-aa so jaanai.
Only he knows the bliss of equipoise who has been blessed with it.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੈ ॥੮॥੩॥
naanak daas taa kai kurbaanai. ||8||3||
Nanak dedicates his life to him.
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ l

ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਾਸ ਤੇ ਟਰਿਆ ॥
parathmay garabh vaas tay tari-aa.
Firstly by God’s grace you were saved from (being destroyed in) the womb of your mother,
ਜੀਵ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਣ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੁਰਿਆ ॥
putar kaltar kutamb sang juri-aa.
Becoming an adult you got attached with the wife, sons and family.
ਜਵਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ) ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਭੋਜਨੁ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਬਹੁ ਕਪਰੇ ॥ ਸਰਪਰ ਗਵਨੁ ਕਰਹਿਗੇ ਬਪੁਰੇ ॥੧॥
bhojan anik parkaar baho kapray. sarpar gavan karhigay bapuray. ||1||
There are some who remain indulging in enjoying many kinds of foods and dresses. But they too would surely depart from here like orphans.
ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਹੈ l ਪਰ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਭੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਯਤੀਮਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣਗੇ l
ਕਵਨੁ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ਜੋ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਟਰੈ ॥
kavan asthaan jo kabahu na tarai.
What is that place which never perishes?
ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਨਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ?
ਕਵਨੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kavan sabad jit durmat harai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
What is that Word which dispels one’s evil intellect.?
ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਪੁਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਮਰਣਾ ॥
indar puree meh sarpar marnaa.
In the Realm of God, death is sure and certain.
ਇੰਦ੍ਰ-ਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਤੇ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੁਰੀ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
barahm puree nihchal nahee rahnaa.
The Realm of God shall not remain permanent.
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਸਿਵ ਪੁਰੀ ਕਾ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਕਾਲਾ ॥
siv puree kaa ho-igaa kaalaa.
The Realm of God shall also perish.
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ।
ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਬਿਤਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
tarai gun maa-i-aa binas bitaalaa. ||2||
In short the entire humanity, which is influenced by the three modes of Maya (vice, virtue and power) shall perish one day.
ਜਗਤ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਹੇਠ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ l
ਗਿਰਿ ਤਰ ਧਰਣਿ ਗਗਨ ਅਰੁ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
gir tar Dharan gagan ar taaray.
The mountains, the trees, the earth, the sky and the stars;
ਪਹਾੜ, ਰੁੱਖ, ਧਰਤੀ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਰੇ;
ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਪਵਣੁ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਨੀਰਾਰੇ ॥
rav sas pavan paavak neeraaray.
the sun, the moon, the wind, water and fire;
ਸੂਰਜ, ਚੰਦ, ਹਵਾ, ਅੱਗ, ਪਾਣੀ;
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਬਰਤ ਅਰੁ ਭੇਦਾ ॥
dinas rain barat ar bhaydaa.
day and night, fasting and different kind of rituals.
ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਤ; ਵਰਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੇ ਵਖ ਵਖ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ;
ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬਿਨਸਹਿਗੇ ਬੇਦਾ ॥੩॥
saasat simrit binashigay baydaa. ||3||
the Shastras, the Smritis and the Vedas shall vanish.
ਵੇਦ, ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ, ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ-ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ l
ਤੀਰਥ ਦੇਵ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਪੋਥੀ ॥
tirath dayv dayhuraa pothee.
The sacred shrines of pilgrimage, gods, temples and holy books;
ਤੀਰਥ, ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਮੰਦਰ, (ਧਰਮ-) ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ;
ਮਾਲਾ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਸੋਚ ਪਾਕ ਹੋਤੀ ॥
maalaa tilak soch paak hotee.
rosaries, ceremonial tilak marks on the forehead, meditative people, the pure, and the performers of acts of ablution;
ਮਾਲਾ, ਟਿਕੇ, ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ, ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ,
ਧੋਤੀ ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਪਰਸਾਦਨ ਭੋਗਾ ॥
Dhotee dand-ut parsaadan bhogaa.
the loin cloths, the prostration before gods with all the offerings.
ਧੋਤੀ, ਡੰਡਉਤ-ਨਮਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਭੋਗ;
ਗਵਨੁ ਕਰੈਗੋ ਸਗਲੋ ਲੋਗਾ ॥੪॥
gavan karaigo saglo logaa. ||4||
and all the people involved in such rituals shall depart from here.
ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹੀ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਕੂਚ ਕਰ ਜਾਇਗਾ l
ਜਾਤਿ ਵਰਨ ਤੁਰਕ ਅਰੁ ਹਿੰਦੂ ॥
jaat varan turak ar hindoo.
Social classes, races, Muslims and Hindus;
ਜਾਤੀਆਂ, ਨਸਲਾ, ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ,
ਪਸੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਜਿੰਦੂ ॥
pas pankhee anik jon jindoo.
beasts, birds and the many varieties of beings and creatures;
ਪਸ਼ੂ, ਪੰਛੀ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ;
ਸਗਲ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ਦੀਸੈ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
sagal paasaar deesai paasaaraa.
the entire world and the visible universe,
ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਜੋ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ-
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇਗੋ ਸਗਲ ਆਕਾਰਾ ॥੫॥
binas jaa-igo sagal aakaaraa. ||5||
all forms of existence shall pass away.
ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ-ਮਾਨ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ l
ਸਹਜ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਥਾਨਾ ॥
sahj sifat bhagat tat gi-aanaa. sadaa anand nihchal sach thaanaa.
Only that place is everlasting and in eternal bliss, where there is praise of God, and His devotional worship is the essence of divine knowledge.
ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਹਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਗੁਣ ਰਸੈ ॥
tahaa sangat saaDh gun rasai.
In such a place, the congregation of saintly persons always sings the praises of God with love and devotion.
ਉਥੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਭਉ ਨਗਰੁ ਤਹਾ ਸਦ ਵਸੈ ॥੬॥
anbha-o nagar tahaa sad vasai. ||6||
In that place (state of mind) people live without any kind of fear
ਉਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਨਗਰ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ
ਤਹ ਭਉ ਭਰਮਾ ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
tah bha-o bharmaa sog na chintaa.
There is no fear, doubt, suffering or anxiety there;
ਉਸ (ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ-) ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ, ਕੋਈ ਭਰਮ, ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਮ, ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ,
ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਵਣੁ ਮਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ॥
aavan jaavan mirat na hotaa.
there is no cycle of birth and death, and there is no spiritual death.
ਉਥੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ, ਉਥੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਤਹ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਅਨਹਤ ਆਖਾਰੇ ॥
tah sadaa anand anhat aakhaaray.
There is eternal bliss, and the unstruck divine music plays continuously.
ਉਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਅਖਾੜੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਭਗਤ ਵਸਹਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਆਧਾਰੇ ॥੭॥
bhagat vaseh keertan aaDhaaray. ||7||
The devotees dwell there, with praises of God as their support.
ਉਥੇ ਭਗਤ-ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ l
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੁ ॥
paarbarahm kaa ant na paar.
There is no end or limitation to the virtues of the Supreme God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਕਉਣੁ ਕਰੈ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
ka-un karai taa kaa beechaar.
Who canreflect upon His endless virtues.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ ਕੌਣ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
kaho naanak jis kirpaa karai.
Says Nanak, the one on whom God bestows his mercy,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ l
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥਾਨੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ॥੮॥੪॥
nihchal thaan saaDhsang tarai. ||8||4||
through the holy congregation, he swims across the world ocean of vices and gets to the eternal place (God’s court).
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਸੂਰਾ ॥

That one alone is a brave person who controls the duality in the mind.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ (ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਬਲੀ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
jo is maaray so-ee pooraa.
One who kills this duality, is full of virtues.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ (ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jo is maaray tiseh vadi-aa-ee.
One who kills this duality, obtains glory.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜੋ ਇਸੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
jo is maaray tis kaa dukh jaa-ee. ||1||
One who kills this is freed of suffering.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ (ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
ਐਸਾ ਕੋਇ ਜਿ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਗਵਾਵੈ ॥
aisaa ko-ay je dubiDhaa maar gavaavai.
How rare is such a person, who kills and casts off duality.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਅਜੇਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
iseh maar raaj jog kamaavai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The one who kills this duality earns Raj Yoga (union with God while still living in comforts).
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਅੱਭਿਆਸੀ ਹੈ
